Downgrading iDisk Storage Capacity
I am trying to downgrade my iDisk storage capacity from 20 to 10 GB. I am following directions, but after selecting the desired option, the system does not give me any prompts to follow. Can someone please help me? I need to do this before June 30. Thank you for your assistance.
In which device is the extra storage you mention?
It's not in "a device" - it's on the iCloud server and available to all devices / computers.
Do I need to take action with regards to the informatio I moved to iCloud?
If you have moved your MobileMe account to iCloud, and downloaded all information/files you want to keep from MobileMe then you have done everything.
Does iCloud take the place of Mobile Me after June 30?
Yes. MobileMe ceases to exist after June 30th. Read: http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html

Mail storage capacity allocation
I have a main .mac account and 3 mail only accounts. Each mail only account has a different amount of storage capacity. For example one account has a capacity of 217MB and the other has only 49.5. When I change the allocation in the main account from idisk to mail, it only effects the main account and not the mail only accounts. How can I change the allocation of those mail only accounts.
Copied from .Mac account Help:
.Mac members can purchase up to 10 additional email-only accounts for US$10.00 each per year. (Email-only accounts include 50 MB of storage, which can't be increased.)
With the Mail.app, create/access an "On My Mac" location mailbox (one for each email only account) and transfer messages from the account's Inbox mailbox to the designated "On My Mac" location mailbox for that accounts' received messages. This process will store the transferred messages locally on the hard drive and remove the messages from the server at the same time freeing up server storage space. -
I've been publishing just fine for the past few days and all of the sudden, when I click 'Publish Site' now, the 'content rights' pop up shows up. But then it wants me to sign into MobileMe (to which I'm already signed in). When I click 'sign in' it takes me to System Preferences > MobileMe > Account. I click on iDisk and it says "20.4 GB total, 2.7 MB used, 20.4 GB available"
(I'm not sure why my GB available is still the same even though I've used 2.7 MB.... it wouldn't really matter though if I was able to publish.)
I went back to iWeb to my Site Publishing Settings page and at the bottom there's a bar labeled 'iDisk Storage' and it's completely blue (meaning used).
I also went to my MobileMe account to 'Summary' and under 'Mail and iDisk Storage' it says '3 MB of 20 GB used'.
I'm assuming that it's not letting me publish because it thinks that I have run out of iDisk storage but I could be wrong. I just renewed my MobileMe account in Feb so I'm all payed up.. that shouldn't be the problem. Do you know of any other reasons why it won't let me publish?
I feel like something is wacky with my iDisk Storage either way.
I really hope all of this stuff makes sense. I'm fairly new to Mac and I'm still not sure about all of the lingo.
Thank you for any advice you can give! Any suggestions will be MUCH appreciated!!
-AshleyTry the following:
close iWeb.
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
reboot.
launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
launch iWeb and try again.

1. I have an iPod which has purchases synced with I tunes with an apple ID. I now have an iPad with a new ID for cloud. I have cloud storage capacity of 5gb which came with the iPad. How can I use one ID and store my existing music in cloud?
HI Frostyfrog
CHeck out iTunes Match which has an annual fee of £21 or thereabouts. You can store a maximum of 25,000 songs there and they all become available on your other kit, iPhone, iPad and iPod. I know it works as I have over 23000 songs uploaded of which only a few we're bought through iTunes.
it works by comparing your music to the whole iTunes music dadata base so you access the same tunes that you could get from iTunes. If you have obscure stuff, it uploads your own music to the cloud as a copy.
I Find it incredible that on my iPhone with its 16gb memory I can view almost 200 gb of music (ie my 23000 songs) and play any of them. Anything I add to iTunes becomes available via the cloud fairly quickly from a few minutes or a little longer if adding a lot.
The first time you use it it will take quite a while to match your music if you have a lot, but after that it is all automatic. Read the stuff on the apple site. Your PC needs to be at least running Vista. I recommend it and at less than 50p a week it's good value.
Good luck -
can I create a separate icloud account for my husband but still use the same itunes account? I want our contacts, photos and storage capacity to be separate but be able to share music and apps we purchase.
Welcome to the Apple community Pammy.
Yes, that's exactly what I'd suggest for the vast majority of users. -
I upgraded my Icloud storage capacity to a higher tier and my Iphone does not reflect the change although my credit card was charged and the device is nor properly backup. How can this be resolved?
It seems to take up to a couple of days for the upgrade to take hold, at least that's the experience of some users. Give it 24 hours before contacting apple.

Can I use the HP System Recovery Disks from my HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Select Edition Entertaimnent Notebook PC when I replace the failing hard drive with a smaller storage capacity hard drive? Right now it is a Toshiba 750GB SATA hard disk drive, 5400 RPM, 2.5 inch small form factor (SFF) and I am planning to replace it with the Toshiba HDKCB26 500GB 2.5 inch Hybrid Hard Drive. I read that I cannot use a System Image to restore the hard drive because it is a smaller capacity then the original Hard Drive. If this is true, it seems that my only option is to use the HP Recovery Disks.
Hi:
Normally the HP recovery disks don't work on a smaller hard drive either, but it may be possible in your case if HP offered a 500 GB HDD in that model series.
No guarantees though. -
SQL Server 2008 Express R2 exceeds the storage capacity of Oracle XE
Hello, here is a novelty: SQL Server 2008 Express R2 exceeds the storage capacity of Oracle XE, XE you still limited to 4GB of data from, the competition gets better and offers a bit more, XE remains the same, hopefully Oracle 11g XE exceeds storage and memory to SQL Server.

Edited by: rober584812 on Apr 27, 2010 5:09 PMYes, I do good work is correct, I have not thought to migrate from Oracle XE to SQL Server Express because it could not work with the flexibility of PL / SQL and other Oracle features own, however, SQL Server 2008 R2 Express if takes the lead XE in storage, at which Oracle Corp. will match or exceed, offer more storage in response to competition and not only compensate for the limitation of 4GB with Excellency good features.

Ipod Touch showing incorrect storage capacity
I have an Ipod Touch 64 GB 5th Gen running iOS 8.2. I'm not certain when this issue occurred initially from the devices perspective - only when I first noticed it. The device was running 8.1.1.3 at the time. I was working with it in Itunes and clicked on the iPods summary screen to check for the iOS 8.2 update. I noticed the capacity of the device was showing as 56.62 GB. Available space was 43.19. The little memory symbol for the Ipod shows 64 GB. I was troubled by the capacity message. Ran Itunes diagnostics:

No help there. I ran the Update to iOS 8.2. Succesful. Still same capacity. Checked the iPod's Gerneral/About screen - Capacity listed 56.6 GB.
Have I lost access to 8 GB of capacity here? Should I reset the thing?

Total of Audio, Video and App Data is 14.12 GB. Available shows 43.19 GB. That adds up to 57.31.GB. So there is a 700 K discrepancy. Total Photo Data happens to be 700 K. Just saying. You only have 56.6 GB available to you. The difference between that and the 64 GB advertised capacity is taken up by:
The operating system since you can't use that for storage
and how GB is advertised and used/reported by the operating system. See:
How OS X and iOS report storage capacity - Apple Support
The update did not change anything except likely reducing the capacity by 10 or so MB since update typically add things and thus takes more storage for the operating system -
I tries to backed up and storage on iCloud but its just shows down below "Estimating time remaining" but theres no time remaining !!! And i connect to the Wifi already and i buy a storage capacity !!! But its not backing so what should i do in that case !!!?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that your device is correctly connected to the wifi/internet (settings > wifi)
If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
If this doesn't help, try turning off some items for back up in a pattern to try to establish if your problem is being caused by specific data on your device.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable. -
Does the 7th generation ipod nano have the same storage capacity as the 4th generation ipod nano
Just bought a ipod nano 7th generation to replace my 16gb 4th generation nano as its battery life is getting shorter
Went to load my library on to my new ipod and it could not take all the songs, wheras my 4th generarion had room to spare
so i have had to uncheck a lot of songs to get my new ipod to accept loading
my guess would be around 300 mb
Is this difference right when they are both rated as 16gb and showing on itunes at keast the same storage capacity?Need to add I have restored the ipod twice with no change to storage capacity
'others' is showing
4th gen 119 mb
7th gen 136 mb -
My iPad2 no longer connects to my home wifi network but there is no problem connecting to other saved wifi networks. Currently using iOS8.0.2. with storage capacity of 12.2Gb but only 147Mb free. Disconnecting the router and rebooting the iPad worked briefly as a temporary fix but not anymore
You could try this
Temporarily disable security on your home network
See if the iPad connects
If it does then reset the security - with the same or different password -
I am not able to downgrade my storage. The process does not complete on the last page.
LONG STORY---It took 78min16sec but I did get my storage downgraded. I called 1-800-MY APPLE (1-800-692-7533). After 5 min I explained my issue (same as yours - couldn't get DONE to click) and they said they needed to transfer me to Apple Care. 15 minutes later Apple Care said they needed to transfer me to iTunes ETA 15 more minutes. W-A-Y more than 15 min later, the Apple Care person, who did check back with me throughout the wait time, handed me off to iTunes. Apple Care and iTunes had talked and iTunes had my problem in the process of being taken care of as we began talking. The people were all very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. It took a LONG time, but the problem is now solved. Actually iTunes said that my storage had already been downgraded. iTunes also processed a storage upgrade refund for me.
SHORT STORY - Phone 1-800-MY APPLE (1-800-692-7533) and ask to speak to an iTunes Store Support Advisor to downgrade your iCloud storage plan. -
On iPad 2 can files be compressed on HD to increase storage capacity?
I bought my daughter an iPad 2 3rd generation. I know the HD capacity is 16 Gb and iOS 7.01 takes up about
1 Gb of het capacity, giving her about 15 Gb to use for apps and data storage. I have three questions about that.
Q1. Can She use a flash drive to download apps and files to the flash drive, then access the flash drive as an
external data storage to view/listen to photos, video and music and; most important; can she download apps
and run them from the drive on the system itself if she does so?
Q2. Can she compress the files on the HD to increase the storage capacity of the HD, and still have the ability
run the downloaded apps, view videos, etc. Can she still access the compressed files, if she can do so?
Q3. iPad 2 has no paper guide or owner's manual, but. Apple has an ipad Guide (140pp) that can be down-
loaded and viewed. Can she download iPad User/Owners "Guide for iPad Using OS 7.01 ondto her iPad and
put an icon for it on her iPad desktop for easy reference?
Thank you for your help.Q1. There are compatible flashdrives tha allwo you to do this through their own Apps such as the Sandisk Wireless Flash Drive among others. http://www.sandisk.com/products/wireless/flash-drive/ It cannot eb done with regular flash drives though.
Q2. No. No compression is available on the iPad.
Q3. She can bookmark the iPad's manual website and place an icon on the home screen for the url, or download the Book version to iBooks for free.
Just tap on Arrow coming out of a box icionin Safari, and then tap on Place on Home Screen.
