Downgrading my Zen Mic

I want to downgrade my Zen Micro to v firmware. I want to do this because my computer won't recognize the player because it has v2 firmware. I can't get my computer to recognize it because it doesn't have a service pack installed. I tried getting a service pack but it gives me an error message when I try to install the service pack. So I want to try and downgrade to ..0 as you can use that without having to download a service pack.
Here's the problem. When I try to downgrade the firmware to ..0, the upgrade program tells me my Zen Micro is not connected. How do I get my computer to recognize my device so I can downgrade?

Jason-CL wrote:g_unit2004,You can't downgrade if the player cannot be properly recongize by the system. I would suggest going to another system that have XP SP/SP2 and WMP0 installed and use that system to downgrade the player.Jason
I guess I will try another computer like you suggested. Do you think I will need to bring the Creative software along to downgrade?
Thanks.

  • How to downgrade firmware? (Zen Mic

Im a owner of a Zen Micro 6GB, V2.x... For some reason I have the same problem like all the other ME user and trying to downgrade my firmware. When ever I try to downgrade the following message stop me from downgrading "You player is not connected. Please connect your player"Could someone help me with this? Or tell me how come Window XP pro does not reconnize V2.x?
    Please help.

Hold down the option key.. when you select the different firmware.. it will then offer all that are available..
The very latest TC will not allow you to downgrade beyond 7.6.0 for some reason.. although the first of the Gen4 were sold with 7.5.2 if it didn't come with that level firmware it might not be able to go back to it.
Have you totally isolated the TC from the network.. reset it.. does the disk still spin up and down.. if so return for warranty exchange.. it is faulty. Otherwise start plugging in computers.. or connecting by wireless. give it a new wireless name.. add devices one by one until you find which is causing constant disk access. You might need to then do a reinstall to rid that device of the issue that is affecting the TC.

  • What are the version differences for the Zen Mic

I have the version that only allows you to upload songs from XP, and I have a 2000 computer. What are the differences between the version I have and the previous version and is it good or bad or downgrade my Micro?

Its the firmware on the player. Check out <a href='http://www.nomadness.net/modules.php?name=FAQ&myfaq=yes&id_cat=8&categories =Nomad+Jukebox+Zen#227' target=_blank>this FAQ[/url] for more on the difference between the v2 firmware and the v firmware.
You can flash back to a v firmware if you find a Windows XP machine to do the change and you will get your Micro to work with Creative's programs.

  • Suggestion for new mp3 player (had a creative zen mic

Well time for me to get a new mp3 player. Because Creative wasn't very good at honouring my warranty (four players didn't work properly and they wouldn't replace the fourth) I am reluctant to get another creative. But if you guys tell me they have come along way AND I can use my previous charger with a new player, then I'll consider it.Suggestions?

i have the zen v plus and i am quite happy with it, i just updated to the latest firmware, it charges by plugging into your computer USB (cable provided) its a budget nano competitor that has great user interface and i personally thing the design is really cool and it plays videos, but im trying to get creative to include compression video support in future firmware cause the video it supports is like 4 MB to 8 seconds of video :| the sound quality is pretty good, but then again i dont know your standards it has an inbuilt FM receiver and line in/mic recording
    im really happy with it.

  • How to update firmware on a Zen Mic

    Hello,
i want to downgrad the firmware of my zen micro. i got a windows xp with sp2 and several updates. when i click on update i only see the time symbol and nothing happens neither on the desktop nor on my mp3 player.
i got the newest firmware with plays for sure. i tried it on a windows 2000 pc but there it is not detected.
i tried it with the recovery mode, and "erased" there the firmware, but actually it isnt erased.
how can i erase the firmware? how can i upgrade it's?

You can "downgrade", or at least go back to a v.xx PDE firmware version. The latest ..0 firmware is able to detect and downgrade from the v2.xx PFS/MTP firmware.

  • Can I transfer Music from One Zen Micro to another Zen Mic

    Hello,
I've had my Zen Micro (Green) for 3 weeks now and now my girlfriend wants one a Zen Micro too, which she'll get in the next few days. I was wondering if there's any way to transfer mp3s from my Zen Micro to hers?
I was thinking if I plugged 2 Zen Micros into my PC and then load up the Nm=oman Player and just drag the songs from one Zen Micro to another......will that work. Or is it best to just drat the songs onto the PC and then transfer them onto my Girlfriend's Zen?

I would imagine you can do that .... although you may need the latest firmware 2.xxxxx which would mean you have to use WMP 0 ...
I should wait until she gets hers then plug it into your PC and see if it recognises it .... if it does you have no worries .. if not post again and everyone will do there best to help out

  • Bug in contacts? (Zen Mic

    Hi!
I was looking for a way to save some lyrics in my Zen Micro, and I thought that would be a good idea to save them in the "Notes" area of the contact. You know, Start > Run > wab.exe, create a new contact, and in the "Other" tab, you write whatever you want in the "Notes" box. Then you can sync the contacts with Creative MediaSource.
But (there's always a but) the Zen Micro does something wrong, and from a point of the lyrics it shows lots of "\n", characters that look like boxes, and some other rubbish.
For example, I tried to copy the lyrics of "Vertigo", that song of U2 ( http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/u2/vertigo.html ) but from "But you give me something" it shows those strange characters. Could somebody else confirm this? Could this be a bug?
I know that using Contacts to store lyrics is a bit weird, but what do you want? I can't store text notes directly in my Zen Micro! ... *hint* *hint* Creative? Are you there?
    Thanks!
    EDIT:
I'm editing to correct someting. For synchronising the Zen Micro I use the option "Sync music and Outlook data between PC and the device" (or something like that, it's in Spanish) in the Zen Micro Media Explorer. I guess it's the same.Message Edited by melado on 02-06-2005 :53 PM

Following your advices (thanks!), I wrote some text in the "Other" box of a contact, but the same thing happened. The text appears correctly until a part, after there it appears with \ and strange things, and it doesn't appear complete.
Maybe I could try with "Tasks"... but I don't have Outlook
    Any idea?
Btw, I have seen that program in the forums of Nomadness.net, but I don't think it's a solution.

  • A few questions regarding the Zen Mic

. Should I take off the sticker in front of the Zen Micro's buttons and screen that it came with?
    2. Why can't I listen to the radio while browsing the menu items?
    3. There's this radio station: B00 who's # is 99.7 But whenever I go to this other station 96.5 it's all staticky and its playing B00 in the background even though that station is called Mix 96.5

. Yes, it makes it hard to use otherwise. I cut the protector in half and left the other half over the screen.
    2. This is the way the firmware is designed.
    3. Sounds like bad reception.

  • Someone please help me to find a USA to US power adaptor for the Zen Mic

Help ! I recently received a 40th birthday present zen micro from a relati've in New York, however the plug is the USA 'two flat pin type'. I have detached it from the power supply to find two smaller pins underneath so please someone tell me where I can buy the UK version of this 'plug top' from. Standard US to UK travel adaptors don't work as the collar diameter on them is too small meaning that the Zen's power supply won't fit ! I am desperate to try my new Zen out but I'm stuck ! Many thanks for any help.
    Martin.

Thanks to everyone for the ti
    ps.
I've gone for the cheapy uk shaver adaptor and it works fine. My zen didnt need any firmware updates but bizarrly the spare battery took nearly fi've hours to fully charge against the first which was just under three !
Lastly, does anyone know if the warranty is valid in the UK (ie Global) seeing as my zen came from the US.
    Thanks again to all.

  • Accessories for Zen Mic

I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, but I'm wondering what is taking so long for a decent array of accessories to show up for the Zen Micro. Is there a Micro-specific FM transmitter? Armband Carrying case? Cassette adapter? Jogging-friendly earphones (the ones that come with it are great for everything but jogging). I'd rather get accessories that aren't generic, but I'd also like them soon, so if anybody can enlighten me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

No to all of the above. There are a lot of accessories compatable with the zen micro, but none made specificly for it. Creative E-mailed me that there may be new zen micro accessories this month. It's just a matter of time.
In the future, if you know that these questions have been asked, look for the thread that already has these questions.

  • Where can I buy a new HEADPHONE JACK PCB for Zen Mic

    Hi,
I have resoldered my headphone jack 3 times, but it has once again started malfunctioning. This time, I tried superglueing the jack to the board, but I think I have accidentilly short-circuited some of the board that the jack rests on with the glue.
Where can I just buy a brand new board with the jack on it's Or does anyone have a scrapped Zen Micro with the part lying around? If anyone can provide info about where I can get a new board, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Scott

Yeah, whatever <FONT color=#339900>i<t is, you can fint it on Ebay.
Just be careful, some of the things on ebay are not always what they seem. Depeding on the price, you may be better off buying a new player.

  • How to get more volume on european ZEN mic

    Hi folks,
I am using an european ZEN micro which has a quite low max volume. It's hard to listen to it in the tram filled with school kids :smileysurprised:
I heard that the max volume of the EU iPod is limited due to some special laws. Is that also true for the ZEN? And is there any possibility to get rid of this limiter?
    DuffyDuck

I was really pleased with my ZMP which I have had for about 6 weeks now. However I made a train journey recently and found that the volume was not sufficient to overcome the background noise on the train. I also found I need to turn up the volume on my car stereo whe using my cassette adaptor.
I found a few posts on this forum regarding the European firmware, and the belief that it is volume-limited. I downloaded the US firmware from the Creative website and flashed the ZMP. I can confirm that there is a considerable volume increase with this firmware, and I recommend it to any European users who are looking for a boost to the volume on their player. The usual caveat applies about upgrading firmware at your own risk. Make sure you know what you're doing before you begin.
Now, I don't need the ZMP above about 4 when listening in a quiet environment, (max volume is 25), and it is now balanced with the radio volume in my car when using the cassette adaptor, so no more blasting of the radio when I eject the cassette adaptor, since the ZMP is driving the adaptor at a better level.

  • Can't see files in Zen Mic

    Hi,
I connect my Zen Micro to the computer as normal (a vista system) with the updated firmware installed on my Micro. However although the computer recognises the dri've and allows me to open the various folders (music, playlists etc) there are no music files at all to be seen!
I thought this may be a driver issue so translocated to my XP machine. However exactly the same thing happened, no files in the folder. I can still upload tracks though using drag and drop, but I wanted to re-arrange, edit titles of some tracks I had on there.
Has this happened to anyone else, if so do you know a possible remedy, I do not feel like deleting and re-loading it all again straight away, especially if this will recur.
Thanks for any advice.Message Edited by shingo on 2-20-2007:52 AM

A warm welcome to the forums Sue!
The Finder is a bit lackadaisical about updating itself, you can click back & forth enough times, closing folders, opening folders and eventually it'll be in touch, or you can try something like "A Better Finder Attributes", for it's "force the Finder to update stale information about your files" feature.

Possibly this would help too, but haven't tried it...
