Downgrading of licenses

Humayon here,
i am new in this forum, i would like to ask a question regarding Licenses.
Actually we have Database 10g R2 Enterprise Edition Licenses & Oracle Application Server EE Licenses.
My question is that Can we down grade our Enterprise Edition Licenses to Standard Edition.

As far as I know your license can be downgraded.
However no one here can state anything which is legally binding, so the 'correct' answer will be provided by
your friendly salesrep with the tootepaste smile on his face.
You'd better address licensing questions directly with Oracle. No one here is employed by Oracle.

    thankyou for read this topic.
i will waiting for your reply.

    hello,
Microsoft Volume Licensing agreements include references to specific rights to use any prior versions of Microsoft licensed software. These rights are often referred
    to as “downgrade rights.
for Windows Server and SQL Server you can downgrade your current Version(2012 R2/2014) to Prior Versions in all Distribution channels(OEM, FPP, VL). however, only VL Office 2013 licenses are downgrade rights on VLSC.

  • Downgrade of licenses

Hi, We needed to buy Captivate 6.0 licenses but learnt that Adbobe sell only version 7.0 licenses. We were told we can downgrade and install Captivate 6.0 with the version 7.0 license key. We purchased Captivate 7.0 and are now trying to use the license keys to install Captivate 6.0 and it gives an error (invalid license key). Please let us know how to fix this.

    Hi There,
    Welcome To Adobe Forum.
Although you can downgrade from Adobe Captivate 7 to Adobe Captivate 6 however for that you need to have a different serial number or the license key.
The backward licensing is only applicable to the volume license customer and not for the retail version (single copy).
Also we have send a P.M. to you. Please check and let us know in case you need any assistance for the same

  • Downgrade license

    hi.
today, we have a license adobe indesign server multi instance creative cloud
but we need install indesign server cs6 and we don't have the serial number for the installation .
how can I downgrade the license please ?
    Best regards
    Tessier Julien

Talk to the reseller who sold it to you. I'm not sure there's anything to do (except paying for a full license) since CC is a subscription license while CS6 is a perpetual one. But your reseller is the only one who can really help you.
    Good luck!

  • Re-Imaging + Downgrade rights Win 8 Vol license to Win 7 Pro Refurbished?

HI, is the following possible according to Microsoft licensing terms in Europe?
    - I buy 100 x refurbished PCs with Windows 7 Professional Refurbished licenses (from an official Microsoft refurbisher)
    - Then, I buy 1 x Windows 8 Professional Upgrade license.
Does this allow me to Downgrade my Windows 8 Professional license to Windows 7 Professional and do Re-Imaging with this 1 license and install it on my 100 PCs?
As far as I understand Microsoft-Licensing, it should be ok, but I want to make sure it is ok.
    I read here (http://blogs.technet.com/b/volume-licensing/archive/2014/02/13/licensing-how-to-reimaging-rights-top-5-questions.aspx ):
2 - May I use reimaging and downgrade rights together to deploy a
prior version of the edition licensed?
Yes.  If the underlying OEM or Retail license you are reimaging offers downgrade or prior version rights, you are a Volume License (VL) customer, and have the appropriate VL media and keys available that match the edition and language for the underlying
license, you are permitted to reimage a prior version.  For more information on your downgrade rights, see the license terms applicable to your product, or see the
Downgrade Rights Licensing Brief.  For more information about access to prior product versions, please see the
    fulfillment website.
    Many thanks!

The short answer is, yes, that is what the paragraph you quoted says. If you haven’t read through the
Reimaging Rights Volume Licensing brief, I would recommend it.

  • Windows 8-1 Pro retail OEM downgrade to Windows 7 Pro

I have just purchased 6 licenses of Windows 8.1 Pro OEM along with ACER desktops. On installation, I realised that one of my applications is not supported under Windows 8.1 Pro.
Please let me know my downgrade rights from Windows 8.1 Pro retail license to Windows 7 Pro license and also how to go about downgrading the systems.
    skumar

    Hello,
retail(FPP) licenses of Windows 8.1 pro are not qualified to downgrade it to Windows 7 pro. however, OEM prienstalled licenses allowed downgrade rights to Windows 7 pro.

  • Upgrading license for more context cisco asa 5580

    Hi guys:
This is the situation I got to firewalls with failover and I need to upgrade the license so I can get more context (right now I have 5 context and I need 10) so I was looking at the procedure and I'm not sure If I need to restart the device or not. I was looking at this procedure:
Upgrading the License for a Failover using ASDM (No Reload Required)
Use the following procedure using ASDM if your new license does not require you to reload. This procedure ensures that there is no downtime.
•1.       On the active unit, choose Configuration > Device Management > High Availability > Failover > Setup, and uncheck the Enable Failover check box. Now click Apply. The standby unit remains in a pseudo-standby state. Deactivating failover on the active unit prevents the standby unit from attempting to become active during the period when the licenses do not match.
•2.       Choose Configuration > Device Management > Licensing > Activation Key, and enter the new activation key that you obtained with the active unit serial number. Now click Update Activation Key.
•3.       Log into the standby unit by double-clicking its address in the Device List. If the device is not in the Device List, click Add to add the device. You might be prompted for credentials to log in.
•4.       Choose Configuration > Device Management > Licensing > Activation Key, and enter the new activation key that you obtained with the standby unit serial number. Now click Update Activation Key.
•5.       Log into the active unit again by double-clicking its address in the Device List. Choose Configuration > Device Management > High Availability > Failover > Setup, and re-check the Enable Failover check box.
•6.       Click Apply. This completes the procedure.

But then I checked on the cisco web page that there are some license that need to reload I see this:
    All models
Downgrading any license (for example, going from 10 contexts to 2 contexts).
Note If a temporary license expires, and the permanent license is a downgrade, then you do not need to immediately reload the security appliance; the next time you reload, the permanent license is restored.
    link: https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa81/license/license81.html
So I just want to know if I'm UPGRADING from 5 to 10 context the reload applies to my situation or not?
    Regards

No reload is required when you are upgrading from 5 to 10 security context license.
Reload is only required on the following feature:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa82/configuration/guide/license.html#wp1361750
    Hope this helps.

  • Licensing restrictions on cloning databases

I've asked this in the Database forum, but I've not received any meaningful replies there. Apologies in advance if I'm repeating myself here to no good purpose.
We currently run Standard Edition 10.2.0.4. We use RMAN to clone a production environment to a different server and call that clone our test environment. We do the same thing to create development environments.
Our test & dev hardware is not especially great, however, so it was supposed that we could downgrade the licenses on those boxes to Standard Edition One (SE1), which would save us thousands each year. It was also suggested that we leave the production boxes at full Standard Edition.
We have been told, however, that if production is SE and test/dev is SE1, we cannot then legally use RMAN to clone from the one to the other. That our only choice at that point would be to use export/import techniques to move the data from the SE environment to the SE1 one.
I know licensing questions are awkward, and I'm not asking for a lawyer's opinion! I would just like to know whether anyone else has heard of or encountered this licensing restriction and has had, as a result, to use exp/imp or expd/impd instead of RMAN to create dev/test environments. Or is our informant completely misguided when he states that use of RMAN to clone between SE and SE1 environments would be outside the license terms for either?

As per Licensing terms what I know is as developer Licensing you can you the DB free of licence.
I do not see any problem moving your data to the development instance and do testing and developments.
If you are doing this as a parallel reporting requirement then you may face with licensing issue. There also if both you instance as active passive. (Always one instance is in passive mode) again you may not have to face this issue.
I am not sure about using rman that there is any restriction as such if you are facing such issues why don't you do a cold backup to do the cloning.(Shutdown the DB and copy the required files to start the other instance)
I hope you might have got some kind of a useful answered.
    All the best..
    Regards, Shaamil.

  • Downgrad from SE to SE1

Hey, I am running a 10gR2 rac database on 11gR2 grid.
I like to switch from a rac to a standalone database including downgrading the license to standard edition one.
Actually SE1 is not an install option for 10g.
Would it be enough to deconfigure the 2nd rac node ?
Which steps needs to be performed ?

    a.aurel wrote:
I'm not certain sure that this would be the answer but I say what I would do if I was in this situation:
    - export BD (data pump)
    - uninstall Oracle
    - install Oracle single node SE
    - database importIf you have Standard Edition installed now, I doubt if removing the second node will completely result in what you want.
It still will be a RAC, but with only one node and behave as such.
    Regarding the versions.
Oracle SE versus SE1 is a license dependency. The software is the same.
SE can be installed on systems with a maximum of 4 CPU sockets.
SE1 can be installed on systems with a maximum of 2 CPU sockets
    Note: Sockets, not Core's
Please consult your sales representative to be really sure what is valid for you system.

  • Cloning from SE to SE1 environments?

I know this is a licensing issue. And I know those can't be resolved here, because of all the legalities etc. etc. And I know the only people that can resolve such issues definitiely are Oracle Sales Reps. But I'm not asking for a Supreme Court ruling, just previous experience.
We've been licensed for 10g Standard Edition for a long while, but we only use 2-socket servers, no RAC, and therefore SE1 looks a lot better fit for us, so we started making enquiries about downgrading some aspects of our setup. We figured to keep production at full-blown SE for now, in case we want to upgrade the hardware or do RAC, but run the dev and test environments at SE1.
The sales person we are talking to said, however, "You will however have to import/export data between your SE and SE1 environments as you move from Dev/Test/Prod. You can’t clone databases between SE and SE1 and be licence compliant."
Since the same person also wrote that there's no software difference between the two editions, I don't see what the complication would be in using RMAN to clone a production database (running SE) to a test or dev environment (running SE1): it's not like the dev or test environments would be able to execute software capabilities they're not licensed for (because SE=SE1 as far as software capabilities are concerned). Similarly, our test and dev environments are only 2-socket servers, so their hardware definitely complies with SE1 requirements.
So is this guy right that you cannot use RMAN to clone between SE and SE1 environments and stay licence-compliant? Has anyone experience of this becoming a licensing problem?

No, you have missed the point of my question entirely.
I know what exp and imp are. I know what RMAN is. And I know what each one of them does and how it does it.
What I'm asking is, is it unacceptable from a licensing perspective to CLONE (i.e., use RMAN) a database from an SE environment to an SE1 environment, as I've been told?
We've been told that our SE production databases cannot be CLONED (i.e., RMAN'd) into an SE1 test/dev environment. That instead we will have to use exp to export the data and imp to import it. Which, given the size of these databases, is a total non-starter -and therefore this would stop us downgrading our license for the dev environment.
I want to know if anyone else has heard of or previously encountered this licensing restriction, what validity they think it might have (I know: we're not lawyers. I still am interested in people's thoughts).
I thought all of that was clear from my first post, but if not, I apologise and hope the above makes it clearer: this is not a technical question about the database, but a licensing question about SE/SE1 and the use of RMAN to clone databases between them.

    Dear Sir,
We have purchsed windows server 2008 SBS prem edition

past 4 days i m trying to complete the procedure but still i m done that
now i have created one hotmail account
please  provide me right step to complete that
    [email protected]
This is my officeal mail to please get back to reply me ASAP
    Lakhan Sawant

    There is no downgrade procedure.
    A downgrade is 'licensing only'.
You need to have a copy of Windows Server 2003 Standard Media to install, you will also need a license key for 2003.

  • Old Adobe product - serial number issues

    Hi,
We have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional installed on 3 old XP Pro based PCs. The software on these aging PCs needs to me migrated to new hardware. Unfortunately, due to the age of the software on the PC, a particular 3rd party product _only_ supports version 7, so we can't upgrade to a newer version of Adobe software.
I've tried to re-activate the software via the automated telephone system, but it rejectes the activation saying that the Serial Number is invalid. I've also discussed this via chat with a support agent - they too say the Serial Numbers are invalid.
Due to staff leaving and builidng moves, the original paperwork and CDROMs cannot be found. So I have no idea if the Serial Numbers reported by the applications match those on the CDs, and I cannot provide proof of purchase - I don't know where the software was purchased from as I can't find the purchase order.
So, I'm stuck. Adobe say that there is nothing they can do and I can't progress the migration due to the software licensing issue. I've asked Adobe if it is possible to buy licenses for old versions of software - they say no.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Ian

Thanks for the answers so far.
The situation has changed slightly, and in fact I now need to build 3 complete new systems (rather than migrating and re-installing the existing systems). Therefore I will require 3 new copies of this software. However, I can't buy it. So, is it possible to buy a currently supported Adobe product (CS6 ?) and "downgrade" the license and obtain new serial numbers for the old product from Adobe? I now have a copy of the installation media, so all I need is 3 new Serial Numbers and be able to activate them.
    Cheers,
    Ian

  • Downgrade windows 8 enterprise to windows 7 enterprise under volume license and steps for installing windows 7 enterprise.

How to downgrade from windows 8 enterprise to windows 7 enterprise under volume license? and what are the steps for installing windows 7 enterprise?

The link provided by v-yamliu works good.
Steps for installing Windows 7 Enterprise can differ based on the method of installation.
Windows 7 Enterprise, being an enterprise product, is usually installed on PCs count of 20 and above. Also, organisations usually modify the standard installation image to suit the organisation's needs and policies. In doing so, they define the way the Enterprise
edition can be installed. They can be ZTI (Zero Touch Installation) or LTI (Lite Touch Installation). The following links will be helpful in this case:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd919179(v=ws.10).aspx
If the above case is not true and only a standard image is being used, you can perform clean install as mentioned by v-yamliu. The following link will be helpful:
