When installing the audio driver, was it installed by following the prompts or in compatibility mode as outlined here?
Based on the Software and Drivers page for this unit, the unit was not tested and certified for Windows 8.  This means that some functionality may not be the same since the unit was not designed for Windows 8.  See this site for information and to find out if it has been tested for Windows 8.
If the sound driver has not been installed in compatibility mode, then I recommend using the Windows 7 64bit driver found here and using the linked steps above to install it in compatibility mode.
    Let me know what happens.

  • HP Pavilion 15-n268sa will not boot after windows update (windows 8.1)

After a series of windows update (windows 8.1) my HP Pavilion 15-n268sa will not boot up, no fan noises, no lights no nothing.
I have tried a "hard reset" a number of times with no success.
When the battery is present the white LED flashes 3 times when the power button is pressed.
    Please please help.

    Hello Cuffy,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you notebook will not boot after a series of Windows updates.
Can you tell me if you are able to access the HP Recovery Manager by repeatedly tapping the F11 key while the notebook turns on? If you can access this, try doing a system restore to before you installed the updates. If not I would suggest you go through this document: Computer Does Not Start and the LEDs Blink or the Computer Beeps.
If it's the Caps Lock light that is blinking this document will tell you exactly what the error is (spoiler: 3 beeps is a memory failure). This could also explain the failed updates. The updates are stored in the RAM before being applied to the operating system.
You can try reseating the RAM, or using only 1 of the RAM cards, as you have 2x4GB cards. If it still doesn't work with 1 card, try the other card to confirm it has failed.
You can replace defective cards via HP Phone Support if covered under warranty or at the HP Part Store if not covered. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here.

    Hi,
For normal computer, we only have Windows 85, 98, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and now Windows 8.1. Probably you need a recovery discs set for your machine. Please call HP technical support: 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

    Hi:
Please click on the devices in the device manager. Then click on the details tab. In the properties drop down list, select the second item (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters you see for each device.
Those will identify the model devices you have and I can try and find the drivers for them.  Is it Windows 7 32 or 64 bit you have installed?

    Hi:
If you make your set of W8.1 recovery media in case something goes wrong, you can find the W7 x64 drivers you need for your model at the link below.  Do not use any of the BIOS or firmware files from this model on yours.
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-15-p000-Notebook-PC-series/6936226/model/7174371/dri...
You will also have to go into the BIOS, enable legacy mode and disable secure boot in order to install and run windows 7.

  • Downgrade pre installed Windows 8 pro (pre-injected key) to Window 7 professional

    Hallo,
we just bought a few Dell Vostro with preinstalled Windows 8 pro and the keys are pre-injected within the BIOS of the computer. There is no Windows 8 key on a sticker outside of the computer.
What is the right way to downgrade this Windows 8 pro to Windows 7 Professional ?
    Thank you.
       Wolfgang

    Thank you for your answer.
I followed you link and came out on this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2832566/en
    >For a PC that has Windows 8 preinstalled by an OEM
    >Obtain genuine Windows 7 Professional or Windows Vista Business installation media and the >corresponding >product key. You may have to buy a full-package product copy of the Windows downgrade >from a retailer.
OK - I have a Windows 7 Professional installation medium with key.
    >Insert the media for the downgrade version of Windows into the PC, and then follow the installation >instructions.
    I did it with success.
    >Type the product key when you are asked to do this. If the software was previously activated, you can't >activate it online. In this case, the local Activation Support telephone number will be displayed. Call the >number, and explain the circumstances.
When it is determined that you have an eligible Windows license, >the customer service representative will provide a single-use activation code to activate the software. >Please be aware that Microsoft does not provide a full product key in this scenario.
I typed in the product key. The software *was* previously activated (still using it) - but I could activate it.
There was no need to call the support by phone and explain anything.
    Abstract:
It *is* possible and legal to downgrade a Windows 8 pro OEM license with pre injected key in BIOS to Windows 7 Professional by using a different Windows 7 Professional key by using the windows 7 key a second time.
Can you please confirm this ? Thank you.

Is it possible to downgrade windows 8.1 pro FPP oem to windows 7 pro? what is the procedure to downgrade FPP OEM windows 8.1?

If you have license for Windows 7 or you have downgrade option. You should do reinstall of Windows 7 and there is no direct downgrade option. It is possible to backup data and then restore files from user profile manually but there is
no direct downgrade option and you have to reinstall all programs.

    Hi:
You have to load the applicable SATA AHCI or RAID driver either by slipstreaming them, or by using the F6 key and installing the driver from a USB floppy disk drive.
See this guide for how to slipstream the drivers.  Read the intel section and then follow the instructions in the downloadable document to slipstream all of the drivers.

  • Downgrade Rights Of Windows Server

Can I downgrade from Windows server 2012 to Windows 2008 , I got an update from the customer representative that I can do it, but they told me to check for the downgrade rights. I just want to know that how can I check that whether I have downgrade rights
or not and I also want to know how can I downgrade .

    Hi,
Customers who have licensed software through a Microsoft Volume Licensing program are eligible to use prior versions of the software edition that they have licensed. This is known as a downgrade right.
If you have legally obtained physical media (CD/DVD) of older licensed Microsoft products that your organization is currently licensed to use through downgrade rights, you can use these prior software versions at your discretion.
With the release of new product versions, previously available products are removed from the VLSC as they become N-2 versions. Support for physical media purchases of these N-2 products through Microsoft also ends at that time.
If your organization continues to require access to specific prior version products, we recommend that you first contact your Microsoft reseller to determine whether they still have media inventory. If you received past shipments of physical Volume Licensing
media (comprehensive or subscription kits) or purchased physical CD/DVD media, you can continue to use these discs to install prior versions of products that are no longer available from the VLSC.
for oem licenses, Downgrade rights are documented in the Microsoft Software License Terms that
customers accept upon first running Windows and Windows Server software. Thanks
to downgrade rights, end users who have acquired a later version of the software (such as Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard) can use an earlier version of the software (such as Windows Server 2008
R2 Standard) until they are ready to migrate to a later version Technology.
To downgrade Windows Server software customers must:
Purchase a Server system licensed with Windows Server software.
Accept the Microsoft Software License Terms.
Perform the downgrade or down-edition process to the eligible
downgrade/down-edition product using the media/key from a genuine, previously
licensed OEM, retail or Volume Licensing Server product.
    thanks

Windows 8 Windows Update fails with error 80244FFF

    Hi @SURAJITsaha ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 14-b049tu Sleekbook and issues with a Windows update.
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system at the time of purchase.
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.
Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.
You might have to temporarily disable your virus protection.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App Window Blank, Windows 8.1 (Resolved)

    Platform: PC
    OS: Windows 8 (8.1)
I needed to download Flash, so I searched for my Desktop Application Manager.  Opened the Creative Cloud App, and saw this:
I waited for it to "load" but nothing ever loaded.  I clicked the gear to see if I could log out and log back in, but just saw three practically useless options:
[Help, Pin to Notification Area..., Quit]
I waited 2 hours for customer service, and finally got this answer:
Launch the run window. (press: window button, type: "run" OR window button + X, select "Run")
    Type %appdata%
You'll see AppData > Roaming, click AppData in the address bar.
Open Local > Adobe > OOBE
Cut opm.db and paste it to the desktop.
    >>If you receive an error, open the task manager and close ALL Adobe processes, then retry.
Open Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Application
    Log in. (ta-da!)
Delete the file that you cut and pasted to the desktop.
I hope this helps someone avoid the long wait time for customer service to fix this error that seems to have sprouted after some update corrupted the opm.db file.

    1.  quit the app (from the task bar) and relaunch.  if that fails:
    2.  Remove the OPM.db file and relogin into the Creative Cloud desktop application using the Adobe ID tied to your subscription.
Mac OS: You can locate the OPM.db file in the \User\<user name>\Library\Application Support\Adobe\OOBE folder. To access the hidden user Library folder, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion.
Windows: You can locate the OPM.db file in the \Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE folder.  To view the hidden AppData folder, see Show hidden files, folders, filename extensions | Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7.

  • SCCM App-V 5 packages to terminal server/Windows 7/Windows 10 design

     Hi,
I would appreciate your input on a design question on App-V 5 on SCCM 2012 R2.
    Where we are:
We have Terminal Servers running with App-V 4.6 Clients for some years. The users on these Terminal Servers could only receive the App-v 4.6 packages (since the terminal server only had the App-V client)
Some time ago we started the rollout of App-V 5.0 packages to Terminal servers via SCCM 2012 R2.
In parallel we rolled out some App-V 5.0 clients to Windows 7 machines.
    What’s happening:
Users get App-V package meant for TS (licensed applications which should not end on clients) and they should not
     What we want:
deploy App-V packages (via SCCM) to W7 computers only, later we will deploy to users but for now our administration system doesn’t cover that
select which App-V packages to deploy to Windows 10 (when it’s there)
select which App-V packages to deploy to terminal servers (WKX)
uninstall of users/computers not in collections anymore
    ð
TTo achieve this we would create different deployment types of an App-v package with each a prereq “W7, Windows 10, Windows terminal services”. Then also we would create an uninstall mechanism (like this http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrdogs/archive/2014/11/03/managing-app-v-deployments-in-configmgr-2012.aspx)
Guess that would work, but wonder if you would see any flaws/issues
    in/with this setup?
    Thanks for your input.
    J.
    Jan Hoedt
Update: then also I wonder the supersedence within the application (with different deployment types), f.e. 7-Zip on terminal servers should be replaced but not for Windows 7. Would that work?

Uninstall is a bit of a concern too indeed.
    What I would do is
    f.e. 7-Zip Application-INSTALL, Deployment Types:
    *W7-Install prereq W7
    *WKX-Install prereq WK8R2, WK12R2
=> Deploy to Group "App-V-7-Zip", which has computers as well as user groups
    7-Zip Application-UNINSTALL, Deployment Types:
    *W7-Uninstall prereq W7
    *WKX-Uninstall prereq WK8R2, WK12R2
=> Deploy to Group "App-V-UNINSTALL" which has all App-V groups (such as "App-V-7-Zip")
    That's making sence, doesn't it?
Note: "It's probably a smart idea to not trigger an uninstall on a terminal server in every occasion." Why is that? Applications should be removed when f.e. groups are not part of the App-V-7-Zip.
