Download 1.4 developer release man pages

Does anybody know from where we can download the 1.4 developer release man pages? I'd like to browse them off-line.
I've downloaded and installed:
j2eesdk-1_4-dr-windows-eval-app.exe
j2eeri-1_4-doc-api.zip
j2eesdk-1_4-dr-eval-blueprints.zip
j2ee-1_4-dr-doc-tutorial.zip
and not found them there.
Thanks, John

The man pages are not available in a download, but you can browse them on
our web site at this URL:

  • I downloaded the web developer tool bar and after using it my images are gone. I use google and a home page and the big google is gone. I uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it but I still don't have any images. How can I get them back?

Two days ago I downloaded the web developer tool bar (aus2.mozilla.com). I tried to use it but gave up. I deleted the tool bar.
I don't have any images anymore. I use Google.com as my home page (default) and the large GOOGLE isn't there anymore. I've also noticed some of the sites I use don't have the continue or next or enter keys anymore. It seems the only thing I have now is the text.

Are you sure you are looking at the Google page?? In Firefox 4.0 the default homepage / Start Page in Firefox was changed to '''about:home''' which looks a lot like the former www.google.com/firefox homepage.

  • Crystal Reports XI Developer Release 2

What is the upgrade method of going from Crystal Reports XI Developer to Crystal Reports XI Developer Release 2.
I've seen mention on other forums and help-desk websites that it is a free upgrade for a registered user of Crystal Reports XI Developer. However, I can't how this is done.

    Hello,
There are a number of ways to get the physical download.  Here's one that's pretty easy. Go to the [Downloads page |http://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm]for Crystal Reports and set the search criteria for service packs for Crystal Reports XI R2.
    Software Product: Crystal Reports
    Product Version: XI Release 2
    Software Type: Service Pack
You'll see a number of downloads.  Download one of the Full Build packages like "Crystal Reports XI Release 2 - Service Pack 4 Full Build".
After downloading CR XI R2 you should uninstall CR XI and then install CR XI R2.  CR XI R2 is not really an upgrade to CR XI.  It is it's own stand alone version.
You'll sometimes see issues in Crystal Reports if you don't fully remove CR XI by following manual cleaning steps.  You may need to do the following from SAP Note 1218535 - How to manually uninstall Crystal Reports XI:
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Symptom
Crystal Reports XI is installed on your computer. You need to manually uninstall Crystal Reports XI for one of the following reasons:
To verify that all Crystal Reports XI components have been completely removed prior to installing a later version of Crystal Reports.
To remove the remaining Crystal Reports XI components that have not been removed using the 'Add/Remove Programs' command (Start > Settings > Control Panel).
To remove the remaining Crystal Reports XI components that have not been removed using the Setup.exe file from Crystal Reports XI installation CD.
    Resolution
Before getting started, uninstall Crystal Reports XI by launching the Setup.exe file from the installation CD or by using the 'Add/Remove Programs' command. If either of these methods fails to remove all Crystal Reports directories, files and registry keys, then continue with the resolution of this article.
WARNING: This resolution can be applied if Crystal Reports XI is the only software installed on the computer that uses the Business Objects directories, files and registry keys.
For example, Crystal Analysis, Crystal Enterprise and BusinessObjects Enterprise XI are applications that may share the same directories, files and registry keys. Removing these directories, files and registry keys may cause other software to function incorrectly.
    1. To manually uninstall Crystal Reports XI, delete the following directories:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects
NOTE: Do not remove the directory C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0 if you have BusinessObjects Enterprise XI or Crystal Reports Server XI installed. These files are shared by both applications and removal of these files will cause Business ObjectsEnterprise XI and Crystal Reports Server XI to function incorrectly.
WARNING: The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall the Microsoft Windows operating system. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk.
HELP: For information on how to edit the registry key, view the 'Changing Keys And Values' online Help topic in the Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
RECOMMENDATION: It is strongly recommended that you make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat on Win9x computers) before you edit the registry.
    2. Delete the following registry keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports
    HKEY_USERS\S-#-#-##-...-####\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports
The number signs (#) represent a series of numbers that are different on each computer.
After making changes to the registry, restart the affected service or application as required.

    Dan Kelleher

  • I have downloaded the latest stable release a few times now and Firefox code variants, all when I close the browser it's process is running indefinitely. Help?

I have downloaded the latest stable release of Firefox and a couple of variants using Firefox code a number of times, the browser crashes totally on certain pages mostly on the yahoo home page.
The main issue is when I manage to avoid the troublesome pages and close down the browser using the red, top right hand corner "X" the browser process is still running and runs indefinitely, this stops the user from reopening the browser unless they manually stop the process through a process manager (task manager). Please help as I "loved" using Firefox.
    Thanks,
    Karl

#Copy the 5 most recent crash ID's that you see in the crash report window and paste them into your response here.
More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the [[Firefox crashes]] article.
also you can try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) and check firefox again.
(If works in Windows Safe mode then you have a problem with other software, like security software or maybe a system driver, that is running on your computer).
    thank you

  • Correct location of man pages?

Hi, I'm still pretty new at the command line. I installed growlnotify to play around with it, but the install script puts the man page in the wrong place (/usr/local/man/man1). I found a post that said it should be moved to /usr/local/share/man/man1, but that directory doesn't exist.
Where is the correct place to move it?
And the command should look like this, right?:
    $ mv /usr/local/man/man1/growlnotify.1 CORRECT-DIRECTORY
    Thanks for any help.
    Message was edited by: aaronfalls

Both locations are both correct. /usr/local is the traditional location for may software packages get installed. But platform A may like /usr/local/man and platform B may like /usr/local/share/man. The Growl developer may have started life on a platform that used /usr/local/man and used that because it what they always use.
Just add the path to the MANPATH environment variable.
NOTE: fink.com puts their man pages in /sw/man. MacPorts.org uses both /opt/local/man and /opt/local/share/man, most likely based on what the OpenSource author choose, and not something MacPorts choose.
My current MANPATH contains the following man page locations:
    /sw/share/man
    /usr/share/man
    /usr/local/share/man
    /usr/X11/man
    /sw/lib/perl5/5.8.8/man
    /usr/X11R6/man
    /sw/lib/perl5-core/5.8.6/man
    /sw/lib/perl5/5.8.6/man
    /opt/local/man
    /usr/local/man
    /opt/local/share/man

  • Can only access certain man pages with sudo

I can only access certain man pages with sudo. They aren't accessible as either root or normal user. I can't be a 100% sure but it would appear that the man pages I have problems with are those located in /usr/share/man. I can't see any differences in file or directory permissions with those located in /usr/man. Anyone else having this problem. Or have I commited another noobish mistake.
    man pacman is an example.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

the filesystem and bash packages need to be updated after the pacman 3.1 release
if you want immediate results add
    UNSET MANPATH to your .bashrc

  • Man pages & documentation, optional?

    Hello,
I'm using localepurge every after update/installation and megabytes trown out are countless (with all respect for all other languages). Isn't waste?
Furthermore Lot of html docs are laying around and I merely read one of them. Nearly 100 Mb.
Now-a-day the internet is at the finger tips, what reason enforce to have documentation enclosed with the packages?
We may just read them online. See this site
I'd consider only the core man pages for the time one has to setup a new installation. Perhaps because some information is needed in a particular case. However it could have to consider some other mean to go online during that problem.
Mostly the crowd leaning to have clouds and other stuffs off-box, generally is moving to a global storage, what for moving these bytes?

I also keen man pages with included examples, they bring something to try and modify in a what-if try context.
I don't deny the documentation usefulness, I appreciate Wikis, manuals, and all efforts to let other know/learn about open source.
In the other hand, I see a great increase on travelling bit when a huge portion is, practically, not even taken a look. Beside this I would also consider the volume caused to repeatedly download the same document for several times . Which is a personal option. I mean that I probably read many times these documents.
I like computer because I like to make some programming, then I frequently consult some doc, to learn something more. This usually goes by browser and looking for somebody made similar example.
The concern for this thread is just to have a slim installation on the first place and who likes to have all wirstle&bells will go on for all of them.
Imagine KDE or libreoffice that packing up all the languages, who will want afford it?
Even Mr Judd, I believe, was for this diet. Therefore we have a makepkg.conf with all strip options in there.

  • Man Pages for OS X Tiger

Does anyone know where I can download the man pages ? My iMac went to the "grey screen with endless spinning gear of death" and I want to download my files to an external drive (by firewire) but my Mac will not recognize the external drive as I am in the Install services via Disk 1. I can see my files via terminal and I want to be able to manually set up the external drive to I can transfer then I can wipe out my HD and start over.
Anyone have any suggestions and or know of where I can get the pages ? Thx !!!

OK. Let me make sure I am understanding this correctly:
    - you have a problem with the mac such that you cannot boot
    - you can boot from the install disk
    - you have an external FW drive which you wish to transfer files to before reinstalling
    Questions:
    - have you used the external drive before or is it new?
    - when you say you are "at the utilities menu", do you mean that you've opened Disk Utility and you can see the external drive on the left?
-> if so, select it and then choose the "Erase" tab. Select a format and give the disk a name. It is not a bad idea to choose the "security options" and opt to write zeros (once) to the disk. Then choose "erase". This will erase everything on the disk so only do this if the disk is new or you don't need anything on the disk. If you aren't sure which format to choose from the drop-down menu, "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" is a good choice unless you need to use the disk with Windows as well. If you chose the writing zeros option, find something to do as it will take a while depending on the size of the disk. Try mounting the new volume now - that is, select the volume on the left (it will have your chosen name) and choose mount from the menu or toolbar.
    - how are you thinking of transferring your files? If the drive is suitable, you could install OS X on the external drive, boot from that and retrieve the files from your internal drive that way. Or were you thinking of something else?
    Manpages:
    - are you using Terminal from the Utilities menu on the install disk? I think you can access the man pages that way. I don't know if you can do so directly, though you can try, but you may be able to access them from hour hard drive by specifying a complete path e.g. man /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/usr/share/man/man1/kill.1.
Have you tried repairing your internal drive using Disk Utility?

  • Man pages...

    hey guys!
i got a problem with all of my man pages. they all look this way:
    UMASK(2) Linux Programmer's Manual UMASK(2)
    ESC[1mNAMEESC[0m
umask - set file creation mask
    ESC[1mSYNOPSISESC[0m
    ESC[1m#include <sys/types.h>ESC[0m
    ESC[1m#include <sys/stat.h>ESC[0m
    ESC[1mmode_t umask(mode_t ESC[4mESC[22mmaskESC[24mESC[1m);ESC[0m
    ESC[1mDESCRIPTIONESC[0m
    ESC[1mumask ESC[22msets the umask to ESC[4mmaskESC[24m & 0777.
i've reinstalled man-pages, but it doesn't change anything...
the installation is very old (0.3 with pacman -Syu). the problem is fixed on all other systems. it happens just on this one... any ideas?
    regards,
    moritz

    for the record:
I use tcsh and not bash. I ran into the same problems. Here are the changes I needed in my .tcshrc file
    # Arch linux specific stuff
    setenv TERM "xterm-color"
    setenv LESS "-R"
Also, arch-linux does not use (the older) termcap [ /etc/termcap ]. It uses the newer terminfo. [ /usr/share/terminfo/*/* ] . "man terminfo" for guidance.
The 'setenv TERM "xterm-color"' setting enables colour in gvim, vim etc. instead of the ugly monochromatic-underlined-las-vegas-style-blinking interface that you see with 'setenv TERM "xterm"'.
The 'setenv LESS "-R"' setting deals with the ESC chars and gives you clean man pages.
    On a side note:
Moved my Pentium 3 server from gentoo to arch-linux, and was up and running in less than a day. very impressive except hosts.allow and hosts.deny bit me in the @ss for some time. Still keep gentoo on my laptop around for bleeding-edge-state-of-the-art cvs-access to Gnome.
Debian sucks. Its like a 1950's record, sure it works but its so dusty and out of date.
Gentoo failed me when it came to binary-based releases. Arch fills that gap more than easily. Only thing I DONT use pacman for is kernels, currently building my own. Will try that out some time.
Thanks everyone for a great distro and a great forum. Your attention to user-feedback mechanisms is the best in the industry (open-source or otherwise).
Please add openbox stuff to the repository. I am running openbox with bbpager on my server and would like access to obconf and other openbox tools.

  • How to install man pages

I recently installed Solaris 8 but did not install the man pages. Is it possible to install them now. If yes, then can I get from the install CD or can I download from sun's website.
    thanks for your help
    SG

yes, you can install manpages after the installation is done.
in the admintool you can choose software, then add.
now you must specify your media (cd) and choose the software to install.

  • What does "restrict" mean in Solaris 10 man pages ?

    Hi everyone,
On Solaris 10 programming man pages I see the
"restrict" word used quite often. What is its meaning ?
It wasn't there in previous releases. Is it documented anywhere ?
    Excerpt from select(3c) man page:
int select(int nfds, fd_set *restrict readfds, fd_set  *res-
trict  writefds,  fd_set  *restrict errorfds, struct timeval
         *restrict timeout);Thanks.,

It's for C99. It has to do with pointer aliasing. See section D.1.2.1 of

  • Man page or example for ddi_walk_devs

    Hallo,
I'm developing a pseudo driver for Solaris 8 on UltraSparc 540 architecture.
I would like walk trough the dev_info tree and store some infos about my machine. I know it is possible to do this at user level with the functions of libdevinfo library but unfortunately it can't work in a driver I've found the prototypes and short comments for a set of functions like ddi_walk_devs, ddi_get_child ... in the file
    /usr/include/sys/sunddi.h
There are no documents or man pages about.
Is there anyone who has already used this functions or could help me.
Thank you very much for your help.
    al_vise

    Hi Al,
    ddi_walk_devs(device, function, argument);
The first argument is a device node to start from.If you want to start from the top there is a ddi_root_node function.
ddi_walk_devs then walks the device tree a level at a time, calling a function specified by you as the second arg. This function is passed a pointer to the device node, and your final pointer argument.
However, before calling this, the device tree has to be locked. This used to be done with a reader_writer lock, now there is a new undocumented function to do it (i_ndi_block_device_tree_changes).
The ddi_walk_devs function is deliberately not documented because it is not intended for use in leaf drivers, and its is subject to change (as per the tree locking).
    Hope that helps.
