Download a Web Gallery

I created and uploaded a web gallery. Somehow the gallery project disappeared from my Aperture list. Can I download the gallery back into Aperture? How?

I never found a way to download a web gallery into Aperture, but I was able to Save As the website and open it in Dreamweaver.

  • Quality of photos downloaded from web gallery

If someone downloads a photo from my web gallery, what quality is the photo? When you share a photo through email it asks you if you want to send it "Actual Size", "Large (higher quality), Medium, etc. Also, is the quality of a photo downloaded in a web gallery the same as a photo downloaded from my iWeb website?

If you select the option to let others download photos from the web gallery they will be downloading the full sized, pixel-wise, image. However, there will have been some jpg compression on the file. iPhoto does that so as to speed up uploading time and not fill up the iDisk as fast. The amount of compression is 9 on a scale of 1 to 12 where 12 is the highest quality. This was determined by saving the same file with Photoshop to different quality levels and comparing.
I was hardpressed to see any degradation in image until I compared them side by side at about 200% magnification. Exposure histograms for each image were the same.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Can't Download from Web Gallery

I have a small picture album with some pictures of my newborn daughter. I have the permissions set to allow everyone to view, and that people can download images.
However, when you go to the page, you can click the download gallery button, but the download icon on individual images is greyed out and doesn't function. Also, there is no way to view the full size image and manually save it that way.
Does anyone else have this issue, or have a workaround?
In case you want to see, my gallery is http://gallery.mac.com/djfriar. There is only one album up there.

I just created a new Web Gallery and in the iDisk folder it created 2 files named large (original resolution but compressed further JPG) and web. This was before I'd opened the gallery. After opening the gallery other JPGs of intermediate size for thumbnails and reflections appearaed, so it looks as though the images for these galleries may be rendered on the fly from an Apple server the first time they are viewed.
Sounds has though Tom had reinstalled everything from scratch though, so wondering if somehow iDisk has lost these 'original' files named large.

  • Editable Web Gallery

Is there any way of making the web galleries in Bridge CS4 more editable? ie I would like to add a navigation bar to the gallery so it integrates with the rest of my website? Or is there a way to create a webgallery that is not a html but an contect item to add within an already existing html?
Is there a better program to use? Ie old photoshop? or Fireworks?

EIther download a web gallery plug-in, or pay, or borrow, a good javascript slideshow option. I thought that after progress up through CS3 with web galleries (it still needed more customization) that Adobe would offer someting worthwhile in CS4, but not only have they changed the entire web gallery set-up, they've offered the blandest options possible. Seeing what's also going on in Premiere (4 dissolve transitions for Mac) and Flash CS4 (destroyed workspace), I really have to question the judgement of high management at the company...CS4 reeks to high heaven of cheapness...

  • Captioning and Keywords NOT retained on download of photos from Web Gallery

I noticed that the CAPTIONING information for photos on a web gallery ARE viewable while on the web gallery page(clicking on info), but are NOT included if you choose to download the photo. Not seen in the photo on download by viewing EXIF info, or "get info" from the Finder, nor available if I reimported the downloaded photo back into iPhoto 8.
Am I missing something regarding the way to store information. I had uploaded a lot of photos with important information for family members downloading embedded in the captioning??
BTW, the keywords ALSO were not downloaded or retained.

    Scott:
When published to a web gallery that information is not added to the file but to the slideshow files. The only time that info is written to the files is upon export with the checkbox selected to add Title and Keywords and Comments.
Even if the metadata is written to the files at the time they are imported into iPhoto, the files that get uploaded to the iDisk have that metadata stripped out of the file.

  • Can someone download photos from web gallery?

Can someone download individual photos from my web gallery? I am posting about 40 photos in the web gallery.I want people that visit to be able to download the photos they want. I tried it and it is set to download the entire album compressed. The visitors probably will only want 1 photo. Maybe there is a better application for this type of use.
I am new to this and any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Yes, individual photos can be downloaded. Looks like you already have the Allow Downloading setting on since the entire album (compressed) is available.
If a visitor clicks on any thumbnail in an album, and loads the corresponding screen-sized photo, each photo has a little toolbar that fades in at the bottom where a down-pointing arrow is the button to download the individual photo. This will be the (up to) 6 megapixel-sized photo and not the screen-sized one.

  • Web Gallery: Preventing Users from Downloading Photos

    Hi,
Ive recently uploaded a web gallery (wedding pictures) from iPhoto and I need to secure it. So far Ive password protected the web gallery, so that it is not accessible to the public. Ive also checked the option to prevent people from downloading pictures.
When I login to the Gallery, I find the "Download" button for each picture is greyed out, but then there is nothing stopping me from right-clicking on the image and saving it to the hard drive. Is there something Im missing here, or is this a bug in the Web Gallery?

    Mark:
As already pointed out there's no way from stopping viewers from taking screenshots of your photos. You can, however, add a watermark to your photos to identify the owner. You can use an image editor like Photoshop Elements (used in the example) or one of the many watermarking applications available. Go to VersionTracker.com and do a search for watermark to find the various candidates.

  • Ability to download full size originals from web gallery.

Unlike the pros that sell their stuff online and are concerned about people downloading usable photos, I shoot a lot of community and family events and would like a way to allow folks to download full size printable photos from the web gallery. This would keep me from getting hammered for printable files, which of course are larger than the email attachment limits for most people and thus require a sneaker-net or snail-mail delivery.
Specifically, I'd like to see a gallery similar to what we have today, with thumbnails zoomable to larger pics that are still web quality. These larger pics would have a link on them to allow downloading of a full size printable image. All of this would preferably be generated and uploaded automatically using the gallery generation interface we have today.

    Dave,
I imagine that one issue that would have to be dealt with would be some kind of protection scheme. I post galleries on PBase, but not my higher-resolution "originals". PBase does, however, have a two-tiered protection scheme, password-protection, and non-public protection, so that if you post high-resolution files you can do so without the fear of people downloading them without some kind of permission. A lot of copyright marks can easily be cropped and, with a high enough resolution file, can be used without the info for print or whatever.
Anyway, you might want to include some kind of protection with the ability to download high-res files.

I created my pages on .Mac Web Gallery with iweb from my iphoto albums yesterday. At that time I chose to enable viewers to download these photos. I have changed my mind and now want to disable the downloading option. How do I do this with out having to delete and then upload the pages all over again.

If you created the gallery in Iphoto open iphoto, select the gallery, click on "settings" at the bottom, make the changes and re-publish.

  • Web Gallery Downloads

Is there a way to allow download of individual photos from the web gallery? When someone hits the download icon from the top of the page, it downloads the entire archive.
    Any help is appreciated.

What type of web gallery are you referring to? A photo page created in iWeb with an added iPhoto album of photos is configured so that viewers can download each photo individually. Click on one of the photos to bring up the gallery mode and the download button will only download the photo that is being viewed.

  • Web gallery download file name

I noticed when I renumber photos in Aperture and upload them to a web gallery the number stays the same until I download the photo. When the photo is downloaded the name reverts to the original file name. Since these are clients I don't want them to see the original file names but rather the number I assigned in Aperture.
I guess the other question could simply be: How do I permanently change the photo name after I import it into Aperture?
    Thanks,

  • Downloaded Web Gallery Photos ? (Confused)

I'm using iPhoto '06. When I subscribe to a friend's Web Gallery ( created with iPhoto '08) the photos are d/l'd into a smart folder in my source list. Two questions: 1. Why are the movies from his digital still camera not d/l'd as well into this folder ? 2. Once d/l'd into the smart folder, why can't I then move these photos into my Library ?
    Thanks,
    JJ

    Terence,
The problem is this: Once the particular web gallery is subscribed to using iPhoto '06, the pictures show up in a folder with the Photocast logo in MY source list. These photos are then not automatically added to the Source lists' Library, they only appear in the Photocast folder. I cannot select all and then drag and drop these photos into my Library. My question is why ?
For example: Should the owner of the gallery decide to delete the gallery, I no longer have those photos as the Photocast folder will disappear and I have never had the ability to put them in my Library.
(All permisssions have been granted by the creator), that's not the problem.

  • Bridge CS3 Workspace Adobe Lightroom Web Gallery Creator

A while back I was looking around for an easy way to create sharp looking image galleries with minimal work, and I came across a workspace plug in for Bridge Cs3. If I remember correctly, it was labeled Adobe Lightroom Web Gallery something or another. Anyway, I recently formatted my computer and reinstalled everything, but for the life of me I can find no trace of that handy workspace plug in. Does anyone know where I can find it? It had a bunch of customizable flash galleries as well as a customizable html gallery as well. Any help would be appreciated!

Do you mean AMG( Adobe Media Gallery)? You could download from LAB.

  • Web gallery still not working.

The web gallery feature is still non-functional. I used to use it all the time. Suddenly a few days ago I noticed that it simply does not work anymore. I highlight and event, click web gallery, it creates a web gallery in the left sidebar of iphoto. The little progress circle turns for about 15 seconds, then suddenly the web gallery from the sidebar disappears and it as if I never clicked on the web gallery button. All my old we galleries are gone. I tried deleting iphoto prefs and deleting to _gallery folder from my idisk. No luck. When I try publishing a movie in iMovie to the web gallery, everything seems to proceed correctly. It compresses and uploads. The when I click the link provided, I get Apple's version of error 404: no such website.

    Ben:
See if you can upload a file, any type will do, to the Sites folder on your iDisk via the Finder. I had a similar problem. When I tried uploading a file to the Sites folder or any of its subfolders I would get an error message. I reported it to the iWeb and .Mac feedback sites. It went away for a while and then came back that same day and then went away. Apple did get back to me and checked my account. They reported all was well. If you do get an error you may have a similar to mine but one that's not correcting itself. Report you problems to:
