I see no way to download Acrobat Professional 9, for which I have a serial number (purchased 2010). I can't find a way to download it.
(frustratingly, there is a link for Windows but not OS X here: Download Acrobat products | 9, 8)

After some more extensive searching of old backups, I found the original DMG file that will allow a trial install of Adobe Acrobat Professional 9 for OS X
I posted it in google drive with open access for anyone else who needs it. Since Adobe apparently has too little room on their server to post this 0.5 GB file:

Hi all,
My company bought me the Acrobat Professional X for Windows around 2 years ago. Now I have relocated to another country (and uninstalled the Acrobat Professional on old computer) and brought the licence key. When I wish to download the product so I can install on the new company, I noted that Acrobat already changed version to XI. What should I do in order to install the Acrobat Pro X on the new company? I put my old acrobat back onto my machine (from a backup made before reformatting) but it wants the box serial number. when I did that however, the replacement CS2 photoshop, etc, wouldn't work, so I had to install it again, but then, you guessed it - acrobat won't work again.

Can I download Acrobat Professional Trial for Mac?

Is there any way to download the trial for Acrobat Professional for Mac from Adobe or have they not put it up? I've looked all over the site and on download.com and can't find it? We will be looking to buy but need to try it out first to see if it fits our requirements.

Acrobat Professional 9 and Acrobat Reader 9: cannot update, remove, or re-install ...

After I have downloaded Acrobat Professional 9.0 updates and Acrobat Reader 9 updates, both update installations fail.

I thought that there could be a conflict between Acrobat Reader 9, which I have also installed, and Acrobat Professional 9.0, so I tried to remove Acrobat Reader 9, but the patch package could not be found. I then ran the Windows Install Cleanup tool, but Acrobat Reader 9 is still on my system. I now cannot reinstall it, nor can I really remove it
I’d like to remove Acrobat Reader 9 entirely because I already have Acrobat Professional 9.0, but how?

When I try to remove Acrobat Professional 9.0 in order to re-install it from disk, I get the message that the patch package could not be found. When I insert the disk to try to repair Acrobat Professional 9.0, I get the message that the patch package could not be opened. When I try to use the Repair Acrobat Installation option in the Help menu of the program, nothing happens.
I’m hesitant to run the Windows Install Cleanup tool on Acrobat Professional 9.0 because of the problems I got with Acrobat Reader 9 after running the Windows Install Cleanup tool.

As Van says, yes you can have both seleced at the same time. I suspect there are other issues on your machine that are creating your problems. FWIW, I too have been running FM9 on a win7 64-bit platform with no issues.
The Roaming Profile is used typicaly with remote logins across a WAN (wide area network), however, application specific gets stored there - depending upon the application. Since you've seemed to have resolved the issue by deleting (or disabling the profile, i.e. the apps won't look there) the Roaming profile folder, it sounds like there might have been something corrupt or erroneous in the Acrobat data folders. When you installed your FM versions, did you deselect the accompanying PDFcreator option? If not and you had an existing Acrobat installation, then some items would have been overwritten, creating some issues for you.

the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

Acrobat 'Professional' 9 installation buggered

Colleague wants me to edit a PDF doc for a typo. I've not got the right software so go to Adobe site. Choose to download Acrobat 'professional' (what's the 'amateur' version like?) 9 trial version at a whopping 350+ megs. Run install. Installation falls over, hangs, and have to kill in Task Manager. Installation buggered, can't run any Acrobat stuff. Re-run install prog, choose repair, get "network error" for a file on the C: drive. Sod it - de-install Acrobat via Control Panel, re-run installation with minimal options. Seems to go ok. Run Acrobat 'professional', turns out it can't edit PDFs anyway, so have wasted time completely. Go web browsing, click on a PDF in Firefox, get error saying that my version of Acrobat can't run PDFs, need 8 or 9. Download Acrobat Reader 9, run install. Choose repair. Get "network error" - D'OH!!
Result: 3 hours lost, I still can't edit PDFs, and now I can't run PDFs inside web browsers. Great ;-\
From my experience with Adobe, its products come a close second to Microsh1te in the bloatware stakes. Only Dreamweaver is halfway-usable. For bitmap editing I now use the Gimp, for vectors Inkscape - I can edit a drawing in these in the time that it takes Illustrator and Photoshop to load. Yet Adobe continues to ask four figures for its product suites? Surely further evidence that there is no God and that corporate buyers are terminally stupid.

Yes, it's easier to edit the source file from which the PDF was generated, but we don't have the original Word doc, otherwise that's exactly what I'd have done.
