Download Address Book

My Address Book application is suddenly missing after upgrading to Tiger 10.4.3. Is it possible to download address book only or do I have to revert to the Tiger disk and do a custom install of ONLY address book? Alternatively, do I have to wait for the next Tiger upgrade 10.4.4? House of Pain.

I doubt if you could install Address Book singly as a custom install directly from disk. You will need a program like Pacifist to do that which allows you to select individual packets to install. It's shareware you can try without charge so look it up - but be careful only to install AddressBook - you can do anything to your system with Pacifist, including messing things up.
One more question - do you still have all your AddressBook data? In Panther, this was in Username>Library>Application support>AddressBook

Hi ,
Then check on which server that particular database (i.e
MailBoxDatabase) is mounted .So that is server which is responsible for OAB generation.
On that server please make sure the following things are prefect .
step 1 : Please check the OAB url.
step 2 : check the web services url is set correctly in that exchange server.
step 3: Try to access the OAB url on the client machine on which you are facing the error.

the last update time for the OAB in exchange management shell by using the below mentioned command.

step 8 : Make sure respective offline address books are mapped on the databases .
step 9: Namespaces used for the exchange services needs to be added on the proxy exceptions.
step 10 : To find out which mailbox is downloading which OAB in exchange .We can compare the GUID received
on the auto discover result with the guid of the OAB in exchange.
step 11 : Please make sure the oab files on the mailbox servers is not locked up by any antivirus.
step 12 : Please make sure web distribution option is enabled on all the offline address book.

Is there a way to download Address Book Contacts in a .cvs file?

I'm trying to import my contacts into a fundraising site to raise money for charity, I have over 300 contacts so doing it manually is out of the questions. Is there an easy way to download Address Book Contacts in a .cvs file? That's the only kind accepted.

No.
Export to vCard and Google for one of the many vCard to .csv converters.
When you search for it please use .csv instead of cvs, cvs is a drug store.
Here's a free online converter that works well.

Is there a place to download address book for tiger?

I was dumb and pasted my address book from my laptop which runs 10.5, to my G5 which is still on 10.4...so I pasted the address book application to the G5, overwriting the original file and the new file doesn't want to open...so is there a way to get the old address book from somewhere??

You don't need to download Address Book, nor can you. It's on your 10.4 install/restore disc. You just need to insert the disc, navigate to the Optional Installs folder, open the Optional Installs.mpkg file and check the box to install Address Book and run the installer.
You will also need to run Software Update to update your system to 10.4.11 if you haven't already done that, or apply the 10.4.11 Combo Update again to update Address Book to the latest revision for Tiger.

Can't Download Address Book in Office 2013

When I try to "Download Offline Address Book List" I get "! Task [my email address] reported error (0x80070057): 'Sorry, something went wrong. You may want to try again'"
It's not just me, all of our users that have Outlook 2013 installed get the error. If I recreate the profile then the latest copy of the address book is downloaded but no updates in the future are. I've seen a few similar issues in the forums
but none with answers that work.

Did you install/upgrade Outlook 2013 based on the MSI file?
Please try to locate the following registry key, take backup it and delete the following value.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Cached Mode\
Name: SpecifyOfflineAddressBookPath
Type: REG_EXPAND_SZ
Value:
Or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Cached Mode

You may also find a test machine and do fresh install Office 2013 to check if the error code would still pop-up.

Downloading Address Book onto a disc

I have tried to download the Address book onto a disc to no avail. I have tried sliding the address icon onto the disc icon and then clicking burn, obviously I am doing something wrong-
is it best to use DVD or an ordinary disc? I want to do this so that I do not lose the addresses in case the Apple crashes for some reason
I am sure it must be simple if I only knew how!

Thank you for answering so quickly- I have tried doing what you say but it did not work- I will try it again though - usually when I burn things the window comes up showing me what is being burned, but it just flashes up and then goes before I can see wht is happening and the discs appear to be empty
And so that's why I wondered whether a DVD disc is better than the ordinary one, even though I have tried one ( I have gone through 6 discs so far!!)

How do I download mac address book for OS X Lion

My address book crashses as soon as it starts. I cannot find the address book to delete and re-install it as there is no folder called Library/Application Support/Address Book.
Can someone either direct me to the right filder to delelete the address book so I can start again or tell me how to download Address book agaian.
I do not have a disk adn I downaloded the update from the web. I am running OSX 10.7.5

Address book is part of OS X and cannot be downloaded. I suspect you have a preference issue with it. OS X stores these in these two files:
com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist
com.apple.AddressBook.plist
You need to locate both and drag each to the desktop. Once you have done so for both, restart Address Book and retest. To locate these files simply:
1. Finder - Go Menu - Go to....
2. Type ~/Library/Preferces/com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist and hit the enter key. OS X will then disply the file.
3. Repeat step 2 only this time use ~/Library/Preferces/com.apple.AddressBook.plist

Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010 Offline Address Book Download

Hi All,
Strange problem that I can't seem to get to the bottom of.
On a couple of users, about 10/100, can't seem to download the Offline Address Book. When they do a manual Download Address Book through Send/Receive Group, the progress window will remain at about 5% and the status will show "Copying Offline Address Book
Template File". If I leave the window, it will be the same for a couple of hours without erroring out.
We have a casarray set up, forced the ports to 59595 and 59596 for the address book as mentioned the guide. We are not doing SSL redirect on the Virtual Directory. Test-AutoConfiguration from Outlook returns the correct entries. Works for most users but
not all.
On the users that do not work, I've tried deleting the users profile, deleting the Outlook Directory under AppData. Sometimes, magically (for a lack of a better word), if I check the Offline Address Book Directory a few days later, there are files there.
If I then do a manual Download, same thing, the progress bar will be stuck.
Puzzling as I'm not quite sure what else to check.
All clients are on Windows 7 and Outlook 2010.
Any ideas?

I also used your recipe --disconnect the wireless mouse-- and the OAB update worked right away.
     (It is not a Microsoft mouse.   )

I have been trying to find information on non-HID.
If you have any quick tips or a pointer to info about this, I wanted to get a better understanding of this topic.
Does this "wireless" for the mouse use the same "wireless" for the laptop regular network access via WiFi ?
(We had some evidence that when the laptop did not use the wireless mouse the OAB worked OK and/or when the laptop was running only on WiFi the OAB worked OK.    Not sure if this is all the same root cause.)
Also, does anyone know if this is something that Microsoft will fix at some point ?
We are trying to determine if "few or many" people here might be having OAB failures and have not reported it.

ABP applied in OWA not in Outlook. Users see Default GAL and all address lists, regardless of address book policies.

During a company merger a standard exchange org was converted to a multi-tenant setup. Problem: Address Book Policies not applied in Outlook, users see all address lists and default GAL. However, in OWA its all as expected, users see only what is allowed
by the ABP.
We followed the steps outlined in the MUlti-Tenancy and Hosting Guidance for Exchange Server 2010 SP2

Please check whether the Default GAL changed in Outlook Online mode. The issue maybe occur when an Offline Address Book which is used for Outlook cached mode is not updated.
Please run the following command:
Get-OfflineAddressBook | Update-OfflineAddressBook
In Outlook client, we can do the following steps in Outlook to download Offline Address Book to check whether the issue persists:
1. Delete the *.oab files in the following folders in local machine:
\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Offline Address Books
2. Create a new Outlook profile that uses Cached Exchange Mode.
3. Start Outlook 2010 with this new profile.
4. In the ribbon click Send / Receive, click
Send/Receive Groups and then click Download Address Book.
Then check whether the Address Book is updated or not.

Address Book Help is not available

I don't believe I have ever had Address Book Help. When I go to it, it will give me the prompts for Content, etc., but there is no information there.
Can someone assist me in figuring out how to download Address Book "Help". Would I go to my start-up disk and somehow just download that part? or is there a download on line which I can use?
I have no idea why it's not available. I've had the computer since 04 and seldom have needed to access Help in this regard. Now, I really need it.

All Address Book cards missing

Came in to work and started my Mac and went to send an email to a staff member and their email address didn't pop up after the first three letters?
Went to check Address Book and all cards are missing! I've been reading other posts and the difference for me was that I wasn't doing anything like transferring files or-the-like; very weird.
Only OS thing I did the day before was to set it to log out when in active for 70mins. Otherwise no change??
I did download Address Book restore files from my iDisk using BackUp and downloaded a file: AddressBook.data, but Address Book won't import or read this file so I can't restore my cards.
Please help, as you can appreciate loosing all contacts is very serious. With thanks. W

According to your description, I noticed that the issue occurred after install KB2889927 for October 2014 Office 2013 updates.
I read the
November 2014 Office Update Release and find that the following KB can resolve the OAB download issue in Outlook 2013, please install it to have a try:

Account options - Refresh address books / rules range

Hi Forum,
sometime I get (annoying) calls that there are old users on distribution lists which are already deleted. They get an error message if they send mails to that list...
So far I could always resolve that issue by simply refresh the system groupwise address book manually.
My question now is how I could reduce the mentioned refresh range in the account options to 1 day e.g. via C1 or some other way (default is 7).
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance :)

Hi Pascal,
Firstly double-check that nightly user upkeep is running on your post offices. This process removes deleted accounts from personal address books.
As far as changing the setting for a caching/remote mailbox to download address books every 1 day instead of the default of 7 days - I never found a way to automate this. We manage this manually. Fortunately for us, we the IT people, setup the caching mailbox for each user, so the process of changing this setting to 1 day is well documented.
Perhaps there's a registry key - but I'm not sure.

Exporting address book data

Is there an easy way to export the address book data base into other database programs or eg. Excel?

Hello, I was myself yesterday trying to export my Address Book into FileMakerPro which is a dataBase program. With no success. I've called Apple Assistance for 1h30 mn for nothing. Finaly somebody on the FileMaker Forum answer me. It is very simple : you have to download Address book exporter : http://www.gwenhiver.net/address-book-exporter.html (or go by google : address book exporter). And it is free. I've tryed it and he perfectly works with FileMaker Pro and I'm sure with Excel because it create a text file with tabulations.
It is so simple that it's magic ! It's a shame for apple that doesn't integrate such a easy tool. I decide that I will not use anymore the apple adress book because FMPro can also be used directly for sending mails. Happy new year - Josette9511 (excuse my english writting).

Caching Mode, groups, address book

GroupWise 2014 SP HP1
Hi,
we experience problemes with groups in caching mode: while they show up
correct with members in online mode and in WebAccess, they are empty in
caching mode.
I tried "Refresh", "Retrieve GW Address Book" and "Retrieve Entire Mailbox"
on the client side.
And I tried "Rebuild indexes", "Rebuild Database" and "Generate Remote
Downloadable Address Book Now" on the server side.
I also waited a few days, in case some automatic process plays a role,
friday to monday - the problem is still here.
The groups I need are eDirectory associated and access is limited by Access
Control. But I also tested this with GW-only groups and without Access
Control.

I forgot to mention that - I have also tried this. But I thought this
setting should not be important if I manually do a "Retrieve GroupWise
Address Book"?
I did some more testing
* changed my lastname in eDirectory
* sychronized my user in GW Admin Console -> General/Contact Information
gets updated
* "Generate Remote Downloadable Address Book Now" on my post office
* Client in caching mode:
** "Retrieve GroupWise Address Book"
** "Refresh"
-> Last Name gets successfully updated in GW Client in caching mode
-> Groups are still empty
So I think it's a problem only with groups, the process for updating address
book in caching mode in general seems to work.
