Download alv table to excel

hi
i have an ALV report with a column of id number. some of the ud numbers start wih 0 (zero). when i use the standart buttom in the toolbar of CL_SALV_TABLE of downloading the table to excel I get the id column WITHOUT the leading zero.
Is there a way to download this column with the leading zero?

These type of issues are from the Excel end.
See if you can tweak the excel settings, to fit in your requirement.

Dump in prodcution server while downloading ALV report to excel sheet

HI ALL,
ALV report is working fine in bother DEV and PROD servers....but in production while downloading report to excel sheet it is going to dump.
"dump is below:
Short text
Field symbol has not yet been assigned.
What happened?
    Error in the ABAP Application Program
    The current ABAP program "SAPLKKBL" had to be terminated because it has
    come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed. "
But in development this problem is not there, iam able to download ALV report to EXCEL sheet.

Run a consistency check for your ALV and you will find out. See if you havent passed any unnecessary parameter to FM.

Problem in downloading ALV output in excel

 I am facing a problem while downloading alv output in spreadsheet. Report headers and data headings are coming in excle but contents are missing instead of that No Data is displaying on excel sheet. Here I have given my code, which contain the building of field catalog and Calling ALV Grid. I have already checked the excel micros settings. Other programs are working fine on my system and downloading in excel is also working.

Download alv report in excel format in Linux

Hi All,
I am working on SAP GUI for Java in Linux PC. I have installed
Open Office.
After executing an alv report there is no spreadsheet option
to download the report in excel format .
Also, when doing Save as Local File -> Spreadsheet ,
the report is not downloaded in proper format.
So, how to download the alv reports in excel format ?

Save as Local File -> Spreadsheet
It will ask for Directory and file name with .xls format . Give proper name e.g. test.xls and save, and after saving file right click on the file and click on Open with "OpenOffice.org calc".
It will definetly work.

How to download internal table to excel sheet

I have a requirement to download nearly 8 to 10 internal tables to excel sheets(for each internal table one excel sheet) without displaying the diolog box showing open and save buttons.
scenario :
I will enter the path name like this -   C:\myfolder\Custom_programs.xls.
                                                        C:\myfolder\Custom_tables.xls.
                                                        (File name does not exit..it has to created inside the
                                                            specified folder)
in submit button I populate 2 internal tables say it1 and it2. then I need to move the tables contents to the path I have specified above.
attach_file_to_response method is not working for the above reqt since it is showing the dialog box.
Please provide a suitable solution...

Please ignore all the responders that are stating that you can use GUI_DOWNLOAD from Web Dynpro ABAP. As you found out, this absolutely will not work, since this function module and other download logic like it depends upon a connection to the SAPGUI. People posting to use the GUI_DOWNLOAD from WDA need to learn a little more about the architecture of WDA before they go posting incorrect repsonses in the forum. I have little tollerance for people posting outright incorrect information in the WDA Forum.
What you want to do - download silent - is not easily done from WDA. There are rules about how web applications must behave in a browser. Normal HTML/JavaScript does not allow silent downloads for security reasons. Obviously there are many untrustworthy websites on the internet that you wouldn't want to allow to directly access your local machine. WDA must live within these same browser limitations.
SAP has done some work using a Java Applet to get around some of these security issues. This funcitonality comes in NetWeaver 7.01. It is the AcfUpDownload UI element:

However it is designer for usage with the Content or KPro server - so even it might not meet your needs.

Download internal table to excel with header

Hi All,
I have a requirement to download internal table contents to excel with field headings. I tried searching in forums before posting but didn't got much help.
I have used GUI_DOWNLOAD, WS_DOWNLOAD and EXCEL_OLE_STANDARD_DAT.
But unable to download the header in excel..along with data...
EXCEL_OLE_STANDARD_DAT is getting field header in excel but not downloading automatically , need to save manually which is not the requirement.
The data is huge with around 151 columns....I got 2 internal tables.
One for the data and the other with field names.

You need to have 2 different internal tables for achieving the needful. One internal table would be having your data and another would store your table field names i.e., declare a structure of length 100 characters,

   CLEAR GWA_FIELDNAMES.

but this function modules are using GUI_Download indirectly.
I dont want to use GUI_DOWNLOAD as i am going to call this Function Module in Portal.

i want to download my alv report into excel sheet...........for tht i used UGI_DOWNLOAD........here if i use the file type as 'ASC' all the leading zeros of numeric values are removed and date format is "yyyy/mm/dd".......
i need the leading zeros and date format in "dd/mmyyy"
when i use file type 'DBF' i get the leading zeros but my date is replaced by '#####.............wht shld i do...........

To get the leading zeros to come, append an apostrophe to the start of each field that has the leading zeros as shown

note that
1. This sometimes doesnt show correctly in excel and you may have to double click on the cell to prevent the apostrophe from displaying in the sheet
2. You field needs to have an extra character to add the apostrophe

Getting ERROR when downloading alv output to Excel

I get a error message when I try to use the standard funtionality to download the alv output to excel.
The current statement only supports character-type data objects.
What happened?
The current ABAP/4 program "SAPLKKBL " had to be terminated because
one of the statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP/4 program.
Error analysis
In statement
   "STRLEN( obj )..."
the argument "obj" can only take a character-type data object.

Hi srikanth,
This error comes because the values present in any one of the displayed coloums containing special character like * present before or after the number.... i.e instead of 4 ...**4.
While displaying in the screen it is of no problem. since both *4 are converted into char format (internally) and gets displayed.
But while you download the same throu the EXCEL functionality SAP will intenally convert the same into NUMERIC format. Since 4 is number.
So in that case *4 will cause dump.
*So find out the place in which the value appearing like this *4 and try to correct it.
*Surely it is of Field LENGTH problem. Try to increase the length of the field 4.
It Should WORK.!!!.. else post ur query here.

Problem in downloading ALV report to Excel

hi All,
i am facing the problem when i am trying to download the ALV report to Excel format i should have the option to save as the Excel file from the dropdown where as instead of it i am getting the option to save as XML file.
is it something related to settings in SAP or is it done through programatically.

Anyways is this happening for every one in your team or just for one. If the latter, looks like the user has selected the download in XML format & checked the "remember these settings" checkbox
