Download and installing oracle odbc driver alone

Hi all,
I wanted to find out if I can download just the oracle odbc driver and install in without actually installing oracle database or client version on windows PC.
thank you

You will need to have some Oracle software on your machine for the Oracle ODBC driver to function.
If you can use the 10g client, you can install the 10g Instant Client and the ODBC driver. The Instant Client is a minimal set of libraries that allow components like the Oracle ODBC driver to work. The 10g client, though, is not certified to connect to databases earlier than 8.1.7.
If you have to use an earlier version, you have to install the full Oracle client, which is not a small install, to be able to use the Oracle ODBC driver.

  • Downloading and installing Oracle iLearning

    Hi.
I need a help with downloading and installing Oracle iLearning.
I have download Oracle iLearning 5.0, and I have Oracle Database 10.2.0.1 and Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2. I have installed all of this products. But iLearning does't work. Then I got message from Learning management forum, that Oracle iLearning works only on Oracle Application Server 9.0.4. I want to download it, but I can't find it on the Oracle site.
Tell me please, is there iLearning version, that works on Oracle AS 10g?
Or, what I should do, to work Oracle iLearning? Where I can download Oracle Application Server 9.0.4?

The main Downloads index http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/index.html has a section called Applications with a link to the E-delivery site, where you could find both iLearning and EBS with Oracle Learning Management.

  • Download / Installation - Want to download and install on different drives. How?

    Hi,
About to install the CS6 Production Premium trial via download assistant before making a purchase and I would like to know if it is possible to download and install to one drive and then move installation to a completely seperate drive without messing it all up?
The main reason for this is that I do not download straight to SSD unless it is just some quick updates etc and instead have other drives that get write hammered and looking at the installation process I dont see a way to download to a diff drive other than the one you want the program on as an end result?
    Thanks.

Assuming that you are on Windows...
I installed the CS6 Master Collection yesterday, and the initial installer panel gave me an option to specify the install location.  See the image in this post forums.adobe.com/message/4631926#4631926

  • PSE 11. Downloaded and installed Epson 700 driver.  Tried to scan.  "import"

Downloaded and installed Epson 700 driver, successfully.  Only choice was WIA support or Frame from video.  Previous computer HD crash, got new computer, installed PSE 11.  On old computer, always chose Epson 700.  Now cannot.  Why not Epson in list of sources?

  • How to install Oracle ODBC driver...?

    TOM,
Presently, I have oracle client version. But there no Oracle ODBC driver in my PC. But, I want to install only Oracle ODBC driver in my PC for ODBC Connectivity purpose.
How to install & where can get the source?

I found out the real answer!!!
On another thread there was a link to the client 10g installation. I download that 480Meg monster. Unzipped the package and launced the setup.exe.
You can then install just the ODBC using the custom option. But, it will not install the tnsnames.ora file. If you have ever done this from a VB app, copy the tsnnames.ora over to the \network\admin folder. It's usually under the oracle\product\client\10.0.2\ folder. Once installed you can launch the ODBC administer either from the link Oracle installs or from the control panel.
Next, you need to make sure the folders where the .dll file is readable to the iis. Change the folder to add whatever permission group you use for iis (I happen to have setup a local users group {machinename\users}. Add them to the entire folder structure (check the embedded folders to ensure they are readable).
While setting up the ODBC, the TSN names will now be listed from the tsnnames.ora file (if properly located). To make the connection work, the userid should be 'userid;pwd=password'. Otherwise the connection failed for me.
Now, if your connection works okay from the odbc test connection, it will probably fail if accessing through iis (like from a .asp page). There are environment path variables that need to be set. Reboot the server for them to get set. Otherwise you will get a ODBC driver can not be loaded do to system error 1114 message.

  • Errors when installing Oracle ODBC driver

I've been trying to install the Oracle ODBC driver version 9.2 but each and every time I tried I am getting the following error messages that are preventing the Universal Installer to install it:
There was an error loading the following libraries:
    areasQueries
After I hit ok, another message pops:
There was an error loading the following libraries:
    WindowGeneralQueries
Does anyone have an idea on how to resolve this problem? I tried downloading from the otn web site various 9.2 releases, 9.2.0.2, 9.2.0.5 and 9.2.0.5.4 but all of them are giving me the same error message. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the JRE but still the same problem occurred.

When you install the Oracle client, a base version of the Oracle ODBC driver will be installed by default (you could customize the install not to install ODBC). Before we tackle the ODBC driver patchset instll, I'd like to make sure that the basic client software installed correctly.
    - Were there any errors thrown when you tried to install the 9.2 Oracle client?
    - Once you installed the Oracle client, were you able to connect to databases via SQL*Plus?
    - Is the Oracle ODBC driver on the list of ODBC drivers in the ODBC Data Source Administrator?
    - Can you connect to databases via the base version of the ODBC driver?

  • Installing Oracle ODBC driver from within another installation

My application requires ODBC driver. Is it possible/recommended
to install the driver from within my installation program (other
than invokig the ODBC's setup program)? If so, what are the
files that need to be installed, the registry entries that need
to be updated and other activities perfromed?
    Thanks
    Michael

In order for the ODBC driver to function properly, the Oracle
client must have been installed on the user's machine. If the
Oracle client has been successfully installed, users will have
    the Oracle ODBC driver.
Since the Oracle client install is very large as installers
go, you probably don't want to package this with your app. In
addition, the Oracle client installation is pretty significant
in terms of what it does, so you definitely don't want to try to
replicate that work in your installer.

  • Download and Install Oracle 8.1.6

    Hi,
    I have a GREAT problem.
I have to install Oracle 8.1.6 on Solaris Platform, but I didn't find it.
Oracle considers this version obsolete and so we can't find it on http://otn.oracle.it.
Where I can find this Oracle version??
Do you know a link where I can download Oracle 8.1.6??
    Thanks a lot

Oracle HTTP Server (Apache 1.3.19) crashes frequently
my system is win2K, Oracle 8.1.7 and Oracle 9ias (1.0.2.2).
In documentation Oracle say Ive to download and install the 8.1.6.2 patch from http://metalink.oracle.com. Im registered but I cant find that patch in the metalink.
Is that the patch (8.1.6.2) I should use?
If so, where can I find it?
    Thanks,

  • Instal oracle ODBC driver

    Hello,
I'm new to Oracle, and i have a client with a Oracle Database.
No problem, and i started downloading the drivers...
But unlike Drivers from other manufacturers there is no setup.exe to intal the driver.
I've downloaded 3 differente drivers, of differente types, and there wasn't a single setup.exe, instal.exe, instal.bat or someting like that.
How can i add a new datasource to ODBC drivers in order to connect to a Oracle 10g database?
    Thank you,
    Joaquim

Sure Oracle is a virtual jungle with many product suits, technology, downloads and documentation so it takes a while to learn how to navigate through. Be patient and curious.
If I google for oracle instant client odbc or use the otn secure search for instant client odbc, I quickly find the downloads pages including the one given above. E.g. the Instant Client downloads for Windows link leads to a page which lists 10.2.0.3 and packages including Instant Client Package - ODBC.
Btw, the regular or full Database Client is a completely different beast, that sorts under Downloads -> Database. If you click on the downloads link for your platform you will find the Oracle Database 10g Client Release 2, e.g. 10201_client_win32.zip. (if you want a "complete" install using this install package you may also need ODAC for OLEDB patch and Database Patch Set for upgrade to 10.2.0.3 and maybe a ODBC fix or two - so it's a much heavier installation to handle).

  • Downloading and installing Oracle (with sql plus) on Windows 7 Professional

    Hi,
I got a new laptop which has Windows 7 Professional (64 bit). I intend to download Oracle 10g and would like to install bothe the database and the sql plus in this system.
I would appreciate if somebody could provide me a link to the appropriate database (with sql plus installation capability). Also if available the installation guide.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Windows 7 Professional (64 bit). I intend to download Oracle 10g and would like to install bothe the database and the sql plusOracle *10g* is not certified on Windows *7*, except with the latest patchset *10.2.0.5*, and its Premium Support ended on the *31st of July 2010*.
You should download Oracle *11.2* which is certified on Windows *7 - 64 bit*.
You'll find the Documentation and Download tabs on the link below:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/overview/index.html
About SQLPlus, it's delivered with Oracle Server and, in *11g*, you can still use it from a DOS box. If you intend to have a Graphical Tool, you should use Oracle SQL Developer instead:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/overview/index.html
    Hope this help.
    Best regards,

  • How to install Oracle-ODBC-Driver in WAS 6.40

    Hello,
I'm new in Netweaver/WAS. I developed a Webservice, which uses JDBC to access a oracle-Database. I use the JDBC-Driver in classes111.zip. So classes111.zip has to be in the classpath.
For Tomcat there exists a lib-Folder, where I cant copy the driver, so that every deployed Application/Webservice etc. can use it.
Is there such a Folder in WAS, or how can I deploy the Driver to WAS?
    Thank you,
    Chris

    Hi,
this thread should answer your question:
Where must I add the classe12.zip from Oracle in WebAS
    Regards,
    Ivo.

  • I need to download and install firefox to my D drive. How do i do this as i'm not given a choice?

i am out of space on my C drive causing me to run disk cleanup several times a day and then can only gain right at 200MB. I need to download and install a fresh copy to my D drive but i am not given an option on where to download or install to. How do I download and install Firefox to drive D?

You need both SP1 and SP2 to be able to run Firefox. <br />
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/23.0/system-requirements/ <br />
And getting rid of SP3 probably isn't wise from a security standpoint.
Have you looked through your "data" to see what '''''can''''' be moved over to the D:/ drive? Also you should consider moving the Windows TEMP files over to the D:/ drive.
Also, with WinXP it is a good idea having at least 15% of each logical drive "free" so that the Defrag service can be run; TEMP files cause the most fragmentation on the drive.

The above link is a comprehensive "How to get set up and on my way" that I made for someone else learning Oracle/jdbc. Kind of a self-help resource page. I would start from the beginning and download the newest drivers, then set up your environment,...etc.
    hope this helped,
