Download Assistant doesn't start

I click the download now button and nothing happens, the download assistant doesn't start.

Are you able to open the Adobe Download Assistant manually?  What operating system are you using?  What software title are you trying to download?

Hi Elliot, the link that I had no longer works. Apparently we are not alone in this. I got the link by going to Adobe Support and starting a chat with an Adobe rep. I believe that I went through a series of windows under CS6 Design Standard and clicked a button that said, "I still need help." I think that started the chat. Good luck!

  • Adobe Download Assistant doesn't open

I'm hoping someone can help me. My PC runs Vista. I cannot seem to install a trial version of Acrobat XI. I download the trial, using Chrome, and the Adobe Download Assistant file is shown on my download bar at the bottom of my screen. When I click on it to open and run it, it doesn't open and the file disappears. It doesn't open when I go to my Downloads folder and try to open it from there either. I thought it may be because I don't have an Adobe ID, so I created an account, but that didn't help either. I'm really interested in this software, but if I can't even get it to install, I'm wondering whether Nitro Pro 9 isn't a better bet. Is there anyone who can help me?

  • Download assistant doesn't work

When I try to start the download assistant all i get is:
    What do I do?

    Hi TJohansen,
The error, "This application cannot be installed because this installer has been mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assistance" is an error sometimes related to the Adobe Download Assistant.  You can find details under the Known issues section of Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assista nt.html#main_Known_issues.
If however you have the Adobe Download Assistant successfully installed then please complete solution 1 in the same document to reset the download experience.  If you continue to experience difficulties then please initiate a direct download by following the steps listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369.

  • Re: Adobe Download Assistant Doesn't Run (Mac)

I have the exact same issue with the exact same laptop and those troubleshooting documents did not help.
I double clicked ADM to install. Ran the installer. It installed and nothing happened.
Some time later I found that an error popped up and said I need Adobe AIR to run ADM. So I downloaded AIR.
I double clicked the AIR dmg and then ran "Install Adobe Air". Again nothing happened. No error windows or anything. I rebooted, made sure I wasn't missing an error window anywhere, updated my Mac (just in case) and still nothing when I double click "Install Adobe AIR". It's not listed in my Applications folder either.

I did follow your two documents, because I said I followed "The Adobe AIR installer doesn't display a window when launched."
    I'm attaching my installation log.

  • The Adobe Download Assistant doesn't work!

So, whatever happened to a direct download link? hmmmm too easy lol.  this download assistant does not work at all.  I turned off all firewalls, downloaded the (***) and got to the license agreement and ok'd it and it wouldn't start download.  Yes I did download to Desktop for all so that it has full permission.  Now I had to go to support, receive 2 files that I have to download, combine in one folder, then unzip and then install.  Just for a trial.  I would be scared to handover $100-$600 for a full product and have to jump through this many hoops!! Why did Adobe make downloading such a pain in the behind with it's (***)! lol here's a thought:: KISS keep is simple...shall I say silly just to be nice

  • Adobe Download Assistant Doesn't Run (Mac)

I cannot start the Adobe Download Assistant for some unknown reasons. I want to download a trial of Adobe After Effects, so this is necessary. First, I installed the Assistant, and when it tried to open, it said it couldn't find Adobe Air, so I installed Adobe Air. Air itself will not run either, and the download assitant would not run and it is not detected by my system. When I tried to reinstall it, about every third time I attempted to open the installer I would get the same "cannot find Adobe Air" message, even though Adobe Air is installed. The only suggestion in the Troubleshooting section that I hadn't tried was installing updates, so I ran the Software Update program and installed all available updates. Since doing that, I do not get the "cannot find Adobe Air" message anymore, but neither program will run. What should I do when I can't figure out what's even wrong?

Hmm then it would not be the graphic switching issue then.  I would recommend you begin by troubleshooting your installation of Adobe AIR.  Once that is completed then return to the Adobe Download Assistant to try downloading the trial again.  The following documents should aid you with your troubleshooting:

  • Download assistant doesn't work and has caused system problems

Download assistant jumps to the halfway point and just sits there.  I'm using Win7 and have run it as adminsitrator.  Now, my machine will not shutdown correctly, and it's new!  I'm very unhappy.  What is going on?

  • Download Assistant Does Not Start

I've downloaded and installed AIR but after I click "I Agree" in the License Agreement window that opens, nothing happens. Can someone help? I"m trying to download the trial for Acrobat Pro XI.

  • DAQ Assistant doesn't start under normal user previlege

I just installed LabVIEW 7.1 and DAQmx 7.3. I found that the DAQ assistant did not start (the wizard window did not show up) under normal user previlege. However, if I change the user previlege to administrator, it works fine. Any idea what is happening and how to fix it.

    Hello,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
This problem is caused by a lack of permissions. The DAQ Assistant is built from Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), and the user needs permission to access MAX's files.
Complete the following steps to set up permissions for the MAX Directory:
Log onto the computer as an administrator
    Browse to the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MAX directory
Right-click the MAX folder and select Properties
Click the Security tab, and click the Add button
Type in the user name and click OK
Give the user Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, and Read permission
    Click Apply and then OK
If you have several different users and want all users to use the DAQ Assistant, repeat the above steps but type everyone for the user name. The above steps are written for Windows XP with a NTFS file system. For previous Windows versions, the procedure will be very similar but may not be exactly the same.
This problem will be fixed in NI-DAQ 7.4.

  • Cisco Network Assistant doesn't start correctly

    Hi!
    A bit of background:
We've been replacing our 'old' Catalyst 3550 boxes with 3750 Switches, and since the web-interface on these are 'a bit lacking' in functionality(to say the least), we figured that CNA(downloaded latest version) would be just the thing...
Except, when we try to start it, we get this message:
    Read/write access problems:
    Ingen tilgang
    =======================================
Note: Read/write access is required for user home directory and installation directory:
    C:\Documents and Settings\BOFH
    C:\Programfiler\Cisco Systems\Cisco Network Assistant
    =======================================
'Ingen adgang' is Norwegian for 'No access'.
Also, I've altered my profile name in the message(No need to give away login name, is there? :-)
Now, my PC is set up according to 'best practices' for a SECURE NETWORKED PC In an office environment.
In other words, my user doesn't have write access to any folder in the %Program Files% areas, and that's the way we like to keep it...
So, Who goofed up the software, and how do I get around it without compromising the security of my PC?

    That is NOT a solution.
The reason why a user shouldn't have write access to the \program files\ folder is that it contains EXECUTABLE BINARIES, which many virii likes to infect.
Moving the install to another folder and giving a user write access to that just moves the problem to another place.
What COULD help is a list of subfolders(which doesn't contain binaries or other easily-infected files) or files which the program needs to have write access to, or an updated version which stores its config data somewhere else...

  • Server Assistant doesn't start automatically

I reinstalled Mac OS X Server v10.6 Snow Leopard on Mac mini Server,
but the Server Assistant didn't open automatically.
    In the manual I found:
Server Assistant opens automatically when you:
Finish installing Mac OS X Server v10.6 Snow Leopard
Start up a new server with Snow Leopard Server preinstalled
What is the right way to reinstall Mac OS X Server Snow Leopard
so that I can change the settings?

I attempted to install a new preinstalled 2.5 Ghz Mac Mini refurb, 10.6 server software, going the headless route that is suggested by Apple. I was not able to get the Server Assistant to start either, after I did get the setup window to take the root admin login, and the server key would never take. I wound up attaching keyboard, mouse, monitor and network cable to the Mini, then got the setup completed nicely, ran all updates, no additional problems.
It seems that the remote setup, which I attempted through another 10.6 MBP on the network, had installed the admin tools DVD, don't think I actually updated the admin tools (which could have added to the setup problems), never communicated fully with the setup software on the Mini.
My recommendations are to avoid the headless install with a mini. I have done headless installs on 10.4, 10.5, and 10.6 Xserves with no real problem. I don't know why there would be any difference for the same version OS.
