Download attachment in Mail application is super slow

Whenever I download attachment from an email in Mail application, it super slow. It's 10 times slower than when I download the same attachment from Safari. So it means not because of the internet speed.
I don't know you guys have the same problem like me.
And another quesion, can we configure Mail app to automatically download attachment. Now everytime I receive an email, I have to open email and click on attachment to download it. It waste time to sit there and wait.

I have the exact same problem.  10 times slower download of attachements than if I simply login to webmail and download that way.
Anyone know a solution?

Restart the machine in Safe Mode and attempt to open each app. Also please explain exactly how you are attempting to open the apps. For example, "When I click the Safari icon on the Dock it bounces but does not open." To start in Safe Mode hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup tone unitl a progress bar appears.

  • ITunes download on NAS WD MyBook Live - super slow!

I have a WD MyBook Live with latest firmware - 2TB. Ever since I moved my iTunes media folder to the NAS performance is great, except my download speeds are crazy slow! I have a 450MBPS 5ghz WIFI connection. When transferring to and from my Macbook Pro to the NAS I get speeds in the region of 30MB/s. Yet when I am downloading with iTunes I get 1MB/s!
If I download straight to my HDD ( tested by making another iTunes folder ) I get super fast speeds that pretty much max out my 120MBPS Virgin Media connection. So what gives? I tried both making an alias and also a symbolic link point downloads to a different location, but iTunes does not recognise this.
    Any suggestions?

I would really appreciate some input on this issue please!

  • Design: Downloading attachement using Mail adapter

    Hi Experts
I am currently building an interface which requires attachment to be downloaded in XI box. Is this possible using sender mail adapter. Could someone validate the feasibility of the design.
    Requirement in Brief
A bank is sending a file through e-mail as an attachment to a file system and XI has to move the file to target system using FTP adapter. Now we want automation on source end. Instead of manually downloading the file to file system we want file to be direcly posted to target system.
So few questions with regard to requirement:
    1) Can I download the file from mail in XI and then post the downloded attachement to Target system.
Could someone please provide me with the steps for downloading the file to XI??
    Regards

  • Cannot download attachments from mail application

when opening attachments from emails, i have recently had to go [via safari] into my .mac account to download directly.
if i try to do this via mail, it stops responding and i eventually have to force quit.
    any ideas?
    thanks

    JT,
Please test with Don't Keep Any Copies for Offline Viewing. I am trying to relate what is being report in this Topic, to that discussed in an earlier Topic, at:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=253262&tstart=0
In the latter case, a symbol of a pie, or timer is seen beside the Inbox of the .mac account, indicating activity is still going on. Keeping the copies is only related to your Mac, and not the server, and unless you are going to view while Offline, are not necessary.
I am not suggesting this should have to be the case, but rather gathering more info about a general problem (but one I don't notice on my primary computer), and to provide a temporary workaround.

  • Mail app is super slow

Please help! I've done a bunch of stuff already, with no results. Something regarding a file called envelope something-or-other, gone through the "rebuild mailbox" route, and none of it has helped. I click on any mail in my IMAP inbox and it takes at least 20 seconds for the message to appear. Even closing my mail window altogether takes a long time. Typing a message sometimes drags. It's all very annoying. I am somewhat savvy computer-wise, but have not found a solution. I welcome any ideas. Thanks!

You need to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder. Back up all data first.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard (command-C):
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
    Quit Mail.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar. Paste (command-V) into the box that opens, then press return. A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected  folder — not just its contents — to the Trash.
    Relaunch Mail and test.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.

  • How to limit the number of  emails the  mail application downloads.

I have over 5000 emails in my online account and I do not want mail do download more than 50 of my newest emails to be downloaded into the mail application. Is there a way to limit how many emails the mail application downloads? Thanks.

This question cannot really be addressed without knowing whether you are using a POP or IMAP account? Since a POP account only downloads new emails from a POP3 server, if using the same computer, then I assume you have an IMAP account? With an IMAP account, where the Inbox actually resides on the server, only the messages you seek to read are downloaded, if in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced you choose an option under "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing" to not keep any copies. Of course all messages remain online on the server.
    More info if not applicable.

  • I deleted my mail application

I think I may have deleted my mail application. It would be nice if someone could help me. PLEAZ!?!?

    First welcome to the discussions.
    You can go to.
    http://www.mozzila.com
Find Thunderbird, it is the mail Application.
If you don't want to do that you can use Pacifist and use it to download just the mail Application from your Original Operating Systems Disc, if you prefer.
There are several different Mail Applications for Mac that are good.

  • Apple Mail Application for OS X 10.5.8

Why can't I download this application? I can only get an alias.

Sorry, but what do you mean by "download"? The Mail application isn't "downloaded" from any web site; it should already be installed in the Applications folder. Could you please post back and explain further what it is that you're trying to do and where things are going wrong?
BTW, this forum is for Mac OS X 10.6. Since you have Mac OS X 10.5, you normally should post in the area for that version of Mac OS X.

  • Downloading attachements with Apple Mail

For some reason after upgrading all our computers to Tiger and swiching to Intel based machines, downloading attachments in mail has become hit or miss.
What happens is the attachment starts to download, gets to about 256k and stops. Mail will then throw up an error asking to re-entering a username and password. When I do this it just ask to do it again and again. I think the server is rejecting it because the server still thinks your logged in(?)
The best way i've found to get it to work is to stop the download before Mail gives the error and then "get mail" again. The second time usually works bit not always. I often have to quit Mail and wait for about ten minutes before launching it and trying again.
    Anyone have any ideas??
    Thanks!

  • Why is the Apple Mail application slow?

Ever since I started using the Mail app, I noticed that sending messages, pictures, and files are a LOT slower on the Mac Mail application. Then when I go on gmail.com its SUPER FAST...as it always is .
So I was just wondering why the website is faster than the Mac applicaion.

You can tell App directly at the link below.

  • My computer is running slow after Yosemite install -but in the Mail program, when I open an email and then open the attachment -all is good -when I close the attachment the Mail program goes away, and I have to reopen it in my Dock -every time -been

My computer is running slow after Yosemite install -but in the Mail program, when I open an email and then open the attachment -all is good -when I close the attachment the Mail program goes away, and I have to reopen it in my Dock -every time.

I tried this, but no luck. I went to Previous System>Users. There is nothing inside the "Users" folder, so I hit a dead end.
I can find my new e-mails -- those that came in since I re-installed the system -- in my NEW system (which I did to see if I was correctly understanding the advice), by going to Users>Home>Library>Mail>POP account name>Inbox.
Let me add a new question: I am running PhotoShop C3. It opens OK, and I can use it, but when it opens I get this message: "One or more files for Adobe Application Support folder are missing. Please re-run the PhotoShop installer."
I don't like re-installing working programs if I can avoid it, because it always seems to lead to other issues. Any idea what files are missing, and where it/they might be in the Previous System folder?
    thanks

  • View full file names of mail attachment titles in MAIL application (Apple)

I often get many attachments sent to me and when I am looking through emails for some reason all attachments show up as an ICON with a shortened version of the name of the file. It is always just the first 10 or so characters of the title and the last 3, which is usually the (.gif, .pdf, etc...)
A lot of what I get usually has the similar titles and only seeing the first few characters is not making things easy for me to find exactly what I am looking for.
Is there a way to view the full file name within the mail and within the application without having to open each file up each time in the APPLE MAIL application?
Maybe there's a way to show all attachments as a list with a smaller icon?
Anything that'll let me view the full title of all attachments would help.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I agree it is frustrating and literally just sent the wrong attachment to a customer because I was trying to live with the truncated filename system. I did find this nifty app called Mail Iconizer (http://lokiware.info/Mail-Attachments-Iconizer). It's pretty neat as it lets you control how attachments are viewed as well as pdfs and images (based on size). It's a free unlimited trial and $15 if you want to register so it's pretty inexpensive.

    Hi!
You didn't find answer for this, because it is not possible. If you run your program in background, it is running on the server, and does not have any connection to your local machine. That's why you can't upload/download in background mode.
You might try to address somehow your local PC, with its IP or MAC address, but I don't think does this task worth so much time.
Run your program in online mode, or if you want to run it in background, then upload your file into the SAP server.
    Regards
