Download attachment speed in mail

Hi all,
I am experiencing something very annoying for quite a while.
Whenever I receive emails with attachments it takes forever to download them.
i.e I receive an 8megs email and am waiting forever. really 8megs...15minutes on a fast connection!
Now, check this out.
I logon to my .mac account within safari, click on my new mail icon, open the latest message with the 8 meg attachment, and there you go 57secs and it's on my desktop.
Anyone has to say something about that.
(I had time to logon to discussions, search for similar problems and then write this and the message is still downloading to mail)
I am sick of that!

Since .mac and IMAP work in much the same way, read the article linked below, and comment on your selections in Advanced:

You may be downloading more than you think, when you get new mail. However, given the size of your attachments, and some issues I have researched with IMAP accounts (and some recent reports) there may be other issues.
If you are constantly connected, there is no need to Keep all messages and their attachments for Offline viewing -- test with Don't Keep . . .

You don't have to disable any addons or extentions!!!You guys are not going to believe this I figured out the problem it's really dumb...ok here goes the attachment uploader loads seperate so I got to thinking it's a popup so I went to options content and under block pop ups there is an option exceptions click on that and in the box type firefox.com and hit allow pow its fixed!!!!! :-)

Downloading attachements with Apple Mail

For some reason after upgrading all our computers to Tiger and swiching to Intel based machines, downloading attachments in mail has become hit or miss.
What happens is the attachment starts to download, gets to about 256k and stops. Mail will then throw up an error asking to re-entering a username and password. When I do this it just ask to do it again and again. I think the server is rejecting it because the server still thinks your logged in(?)
The best way i've found to get it to work is to stop the download before Mail gives the error and then "get mail" again. The second time usually works bit not always. I often have to quit Mail and wait for about ten minutes before launching it and trying again.
Anyone have any ideas??

I can't download attached files on Mail iOS 7

Since I upgraded my iPhone 4s and iPad 2 to the last released version of iOS 7 I'm unable to open attached files to my Mail messages. It says Tap to Download but nothing happens? I've tried restarting the iPhone and the iPad, and I've already activate in the Mail control panel the switch that allows to download images.
Any suggestions?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and sign out and sign back in
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

I have OS X 10.5.8.. I recently installed 2 system updates... I now cannot download attachements in Yahoo mail. Has system updates affected my download ability. Downloads now appear under email msg but without the usual W in pix and just doc. below. tks I

Thanks for your input... I found that a update download from Microsoft Office didn't agree with Sarfari... Reset a couple of Sarfari preferences, resarted a couple of times.... now they are working together and I can open downloads in Yahoo email..

Download attachment in Mail application is super slow

Whenever I download attachment from an email in Mail application, it super slow. It's 10 times slower than when I download the same attachment from Safari. So it means not because of the internet speed.
I don't know you guys have the same problem like me.
And another quesion, can we configure Mail app to automatically download attachment. Now everytime I receive an email, I have to open email and click on attachment to download it. It waste time to sit there and wait.

I have the exact same problem. 10 times slower download of attachements than if I simply login to webmail and download that way.
Anyone know a solution?

Once your message (attachment) is read by the sender CC, you can perform the basic mapping requirement (if any) to convert the mail message fromat to the file format.....configure a receiver FILE CC and send the message...this should be the design...

can I set up e-mail to automatically download attached files from a trusted source to a desktop folder? Can't find the option (if one exists) in "Rules."

Have you checked Mail > Preferences > General > Downloads folder - change that to desktop. That should do it (that is my setting and it works here).

Lion Mail Downloadable Attachment

Hello,
My son set up my e-mail through Apple Mail on Lion.
I am attempting to send an image as a Downloadable Attachment.
I have it set to "windows friendly mode".
I changed my preferences from rich text to plain text.
I have right clicked the image and hit "view as icon".
It is still not a downloadable attachment.
Any ideas???

They are being sent to the All Mail folder. The inbox is pretty much unaffected.
I don't want to hide the All Mail folder and forget about it. I am after the messages gone forever. Especially from the All Mail folder.
I'm the kind of person who uses email like sms. I use it to contact people annd delete 95% of the messages after reading. I don't want them archived. I don't want them stored in the All Mail folder. I want them totally gone.
And yes it seems Mail is downloading all my messages over and over. So my question is how to stop the messages being stored/archived and to instead be totally deleted.
In the gmail settings I found:
Auto-Expunge off - Wait for the client to update the server.
When a message is marked as deleted and expunged from the last visible IMAP folder: Immediately delete the message forever. Instead of archiving it like I had set before. I'm not 100% sure if that'll fix the issue I am having. I'm sure you'll be able to tell me if I am on the right track.

Design: Downloading attachement using Mail adapter

I am currently building an interface which requires attachment to be downloaded in XI box. Is this possible using sender mail adapter. Could someone validate the feasibility of the design.
Requirement in Brief
A bank is sending a file through e-mail as an attachment to a file system and XI has to move the file to target system using FTP adapter. Now we want automation on source end. Instead of manually downloading the file to file system we want file to be direcly posted to target system.
So few questions with regard to requirement:
1) Can I download the file from mail in XI and then post the downloded attachement to Target system.
Could someone please provide me with the steps for downloading the file to XI??

Downloading attachements from my .mac account

Anyone have issues downlaoding attachements from their mail on desktop? I find from the smallest file to the largest file - ppt, pdf, word - there is a very long delay. Any advice?

I am working from home - WIFI. I am able however to quickly download files from yousendit (which has been my work around). It is pretty frustrating... some days are worse than others so maybe it has to do with the connection speed?!

Facing problem with logo in the PDF attachment when sending mail...

i'm facing problem with logo in the PDF attachment to the mail.
my requirement:
1. enter spool number and mail id in the selection screen.
process:
1. now the program will fetch the spool data and converts it to PDF.
2. but when i'm trying to send mail with this PDF as attachment.
when i open the PDF file from the mail, logo is not coming properly (looks disturbed).
can anyone help me how to resolve this issue...

even it look good when i download this spool to pdf and to the presentation server as pdf file.

NOTE: problem i believe is with ''. i'm getting this tilt symbol () in my pdf internal table. here in the above code the line   TRANSLATE lv_gd_buffer USING '~ ' is changing the existing tilt to space. so my logo is getting disturbed.

Open attachment from AOL mail

when i download a attachment from AOL mail I get a message "Adobe Reader could not open (name of file) it is not a supported etc

What is your operating system? Reader version?
If you download the attachment to your local disk first, then open it from there, does it open?

Firefox used to download with Speed download along with other browsers, but since updating to version 6.0.2 it no longer does so; OS Z 10.6.8 and Speed Download v 5.2.28; what do I need to adjust and how, to get it working 'in the team' again, please?

I have had problems with Safari and OS 10.6.8 (I think caused by Apple getting ready for Lion!) but after a lot of uninstalling etc I now have Safari, Camino and Chrome (all most recent versions) automatically sending downloads to Speed Download.
Speed Download Plugin v 2.1.5 is installed; I do not know what or where to adjust or reset to get Firefox letting its downloads be picked up automatically once again like the other three browsers.

Lightning is a problem for you because it hooks into Thunderbird at a low level and you need a version compiled for the platform Thunderbird is running on. So you can't do the preferred solution, which is to put your whole profile in a shared folder and have both instances of Thunderbird reference the same profile. (Ditto for Enigmail). Lightning may become an integral part of Thunderbird in an upcoming release, at which point this limitation due to Lightning should disappear.
And if you can't use a shared profile, you can't set your Lightning, or your Address Book, to share a common set of files. Put another way, the linkage from Thunderbird to its address book files and calendar data is hard-coded, and not exposed where we can adjust it. :-(
The halfway house is to place your mail stores in a shared place, and use the Local Directory setting in each account's settings to connect to it. They don't need to be in the profile; what's more important in your case is that they are in a folder accessible to both operating systems.
Look in your profile; everything under Mail and ImapMail needs to be moved out to a shared folder. Note the entries in Thunderbird under Local Directory before you do this, and reconstruct those pathnames in Thunderbird, but adjusted to suit their new locations.
(You can see here that you need to make many adjustments, one per account, in each instance of Thunderbird, so it's a high-maintenance solution and this is why we don't recommend it when the alternative, moving the whole profile, is possible.)
I share address books and calendars between Thunderbirds on various computers (and my phone and tablet) by syncing to something in the cloud; Google Contacts and Google Calendar are my choices, using gContactSync and CalDav.
Having made the break myself some years ago, I'd recommend you break away from Windows. ;-)
