90% of pictures disappeared after new program. Time machine folders mostly empty. Downloaded my Carbonite file. Can I restore directly from this file or do I have to drag and drop 20,000 pix?

90% of pictures disappeared after adding Maverick. My Time Machine folders were in the right order but mostly empty so useless for restore. Repair and rebuild attempts were not effective. Downloaded my Carbonite file which is now sitting on my desktop. Is there any way to use the restore command to rebuild my portfolio or do I have to drag & drop approx 20,000 pictures? Can album groupings and faces be retained?

Do you still have the original library that was present at the time you upgraded to Mavericks? If so apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

How can I download a webcal:\\ file?

Facebook offers a link to download an ical file of friend's birthdays. It looks like this...
webcal://www.facebook.com/ical/b.php?uid=12345678&key=98765432
When I click on the link Firefox says "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (webcal) isn't associated with any program."
I went into Tools/Options/Applications but there is no way to add an app to tell it to download.
Any thoughts?

replace the "webcal" with "http" and firefox will offer you the download of an ics file...
But: this works for user-calendars only, there are still problems if you use facebook as a page...

Mavericks Calendar Open File Alarm Scripting Failure

Hi all,
I just recently upgraded to 10.9 from 10.8.5. Part of my daily routine is to download an excel file, gather information from that excel and, using applescript, add information from that document to an icloud calendar found in Apple Calendar, and create an alarm that opens an application after the specified event time.
The upgrade to Mavericks did two things, first it stripped away all of the "Open File Alarms" from existing events on the icloud calendar, and now when I attempt to create new events with the below applescript, I get an error "There was an error saving calendar data. Calendar encountered a critical error while saving to the database, and recent changes may be lost. More information may be available in the console." If I strip away the code for adding the open file alarm, the events add properly. If I manually add an open file alarm by clicking the event and selecting the necessary info, the calendar and event save fine. I've checked the applescript dictionary for Calendar in 10.9 and I don't see a difference in how Open File Alarms are handled. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Below is the snippet of code that grabs the data from excel and loads it into the event in Calendar.

As a side note, I have also tried unlinking and relinking the icloud account (to clear the calendar data), and creating fresh calendars "On My Mac" to the same result.

Olb files on windows/unix

I am facing problems with object libraries when trying to generate executable forms 6.0 files on Unix, from forms 6.0 source files which have been developed on Windows. I am using the Motif (f60genm) version on Unix.
Example:
Text items which should inherit the same properties from the same object in an olb file, becomes push buttons or text items or radiobuttons.
I have not found a similar f2lib60 utility for unix as exists on windows, so I have'nt been able to compile the olb files. The olb file seems ok when I open it in the forms builder on unix.
The inherited properties works fine on windows.
Have anybody heard of this utility for unix, or expirienced similar problems? I would be wery happy to hear from you!

You're facing two possible issues: the formatting of the Windows hard drive and the codec of the AVI files.
For the drive, if it's formatted as FAT 16 or FAT 32, your Mac will be able to read and write to the drive, although the files on the drive will be broken into chunks less than 2gb. If the drive is formatted as NTFS, there is no file size limitation but your Mac may not be able to read the drive, nor write to it. You can install this utility on your Mac to allow it to read/write to NTFS formatted drives: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/ntfs3g.html
For the AVI files, I strongly recommend converting them to QuickTime using a codec that will match your Sequence settings in FCP.

How to authenticate a JWS Client download of jar files on a web server

Here is a history of how i tried to implement the auth system:
The resources(jar files) cannot be downloaded by any HTTP client from the server without some authentication method.
As JWS is not reliable when using cookies (only 1.5 supports them, but with problems when in JNLP file i specify j2se version=older that 1.5) , i implemented another mecanism that works like this:
1. 1.The template JNLP looks like this

6.The JWS Client will request for JAR Files

- forcing this is because the mapped/*.jar is redirected JnlpDownloadServlet that supports versions , diffs - i cannot use 'version' to put there the jswid param(e.g .../mapped/gui.jar version="fk12ks21092_2.2" because the JnlpDownloadServlet will not find this version , and if JWS Servlet will redirect to JnlpDownloadServlet with correct version param in request, the JWS Client will raise an exception because version responded is not right(JNLPDownloadServlet marks in response HTTP header the version of the jar so JWS CLient will chek it)
JWS Client expects version 'fk12ks21092_ver2.2'; to correct this i should modify the JnlpDownloadServlet and i shouldnt
THE PROBLEM :
on older versions than 1.5 JWS Client raises an exception because it wants to create a temp file named
" gui.jar?jwscode=f12ks21092" because it contains "?"
Only with 1.5 that seems to parse the jar name until it meets "?" char :(
Thats why i wanted to send an error to the client to upgrade to Java Web Start 1.5
Now, maybe u have a solution to this problem...
All i want is a solution to let JWS Client download jars only if the user is authenticated by some mecanism....and also support the versioning system.
Also:
Note that the jar names must preserve on the client JWS Cache dir ( i cannot use the same method to pass the JWSCODE when requesting the JARS as when requesting the JNLP).

I had the same experience as you did, but in my case it was a big fat pdf that Mail insisted I had to download before I could view it. As happened with you, I saw the file actually downloading, and after a time I was able to view the pdf. It's been my assumption that the pdf is still somewhere on my iPad, but I have no idea where, nor how to delete it if it is still there.

Payment Order (multiple) Idocs need to be downloaded into single file

Hello Gurus,
I am able to generate Idocs for Automatic Payment Run in F110 for message type PAYEXT with PEXR2002 idoc type. However, what I found is the system generates one idoc per vendor for a single payment method. So, for example if I run APP for 50 vendors at a time, 50 different idocs are generated and placed in AL11. Currently the requirement is to download the idocs into flat file and upload it in Bank's website. I would like to know is there any way to download all the 50 idocs into a single file (ie a single file containing payment run information for all vendors).
PS: I use CG3Y Tcode to dowload Idoc from AL11 mentioning the directory path but this can allow me to download only one file at a time.
Any Info regarding this would be appreciated.

I actually had no clue what the core problem was caused by. So it's Windows itself...that helps some.
I'll resubmit there. It might actually have saved time for it to simply have been moved to there instead of off-topic, though I suppose you have to follow protocol.

Warning while downloading an Excel file from WD ABAP

In one of requirements, Client wants to download all the data that is appearing on the screen ( WD ABAP Application ) to an Excel with a layout in different manner.
We achieved this with Simple Transformations.
Now the question is while downloading the excel file, the framework/other is throwing an Warning like
" The file you are trying to open, 'info.xls', is in a different format than specified by the extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now? "

Even though what ever may be the file name I am passing either info.xml or Info.xls , In error info.xls is coming.
Kindly provide me an alternative on this XML doesn't seem like it would match the 'application/vnd.ms-excel'.
what is the supported format.?
Similarly, It is not considering the UTF-8 / UTF-16 for xml.........same result is appearing in the output.

Safari 3 quits as soon as I download a .pdf file

I've just downloaded the Beta of Safari 3, running on my 12" Powerbook (10.4.10, 1.25Gb RAM, 1.5GHz processor). Now, whenever I try to download a .pdf file from any site, the browser crashes without warning or error message.
Three questions:
1. Anyone else having the same problem?
2. Anyone got an answer to it?
and, assuming the answer to (2) is 'no',
3. How do I re-install the latest version of Safari before the Beta 3?

Moved the "AdobePDFViewer.plugin" from HD>Library>Internet PlugIns to
HD>Library>Internet PlugIns>Disabled PlugIns
