Download compressor 3.5?

I cannot use Compressor 4, because I use OS 10.8.5.
I have Compressor 3.0. Where can I get the update to 3.5?  I cannot find the download, it seems to be hidden very well on the apple website.

CCompressir 3 was the version sold as part of Final Cut Studio 2. There is no downloadable update for that. Compressor 3.5 was part of a paid upgrade to Final Cut Studio, the last version of that software in 2009.

  • Compressor not installing

    Hello,
    I'm italian and I don't speak English.
I have a problem with Compressor and QMaster. I have installing FCP Studio 1.5 and I update all software, but Compressor 2 and QMaster 2 they not update. I download Compressor 2.0.1 and Qmaster 2.0.1 from Apple site's, but not installing. The installing process is run, but when reboot the machine Compressor and QMaster are not at 2.0.1 version. ??!!??!
I have a new MacPro 8-core with Leopard 10.5.1 .... this a great problem for my job.
    Thanks for your help.
    Bye
    s.

    Hello,
I ran into the same bloody problem. Repeated attempts at installs - every time I find I am still at 2.0, not 2.0.1.
The installer is failing. If you notice, partway thru the install (as the system is restarting), the message suggests the first item is installing and then - it disappears. A problem with Leopard is this information is not made available to you - it just disappears as the restart begins.
The solution for me was to give up on Software Update entirely - go to Apple's download page, search for compressor and qmaster, and download the 2.0.1 updates yourself, and run them. For me, that update worked -- finally, after many tries of the other (including system reinstalls and FCS installs).
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
That said, compressor still fails for me, and I am close to giving up on Leopard for good and reinstalling Tiger, if I can't get Final Cut Studio to work soon. I have spent many, many days, disk erase/complete reinstalls and think I have better things to do with my time..
    Good luck,

  • Unable to create a "remote" destination in Compressor 4.0.3

Creating a remote destination works for one iMac but not the other, and I'm wondering why...
We are able to create a remote destination on one iMac with Compressor 4.0.2  When you click on the + tab a small drop box appears with Local... and Remote.. and when we select remote we can create a destination to our Leightronix system's harddrive (for our digital playback system).
However later on we downloaded Compressor 4.0.3 onto another iMac, but this time the + tab does not have an arrow and does not show the Local... and Remote... when you click on it. Why not?? Did .3 eliminate that drop box?  Instead it opens a window with just the Local options as if you are saving a file to your computer.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.  This is frustrating.

Did you send feedback through Compressor? I'm trying to do the same thing and it's frustrating that this feature seems to have disappeared. I sent feedback and hopefully I'll get a response. The more people they receive feedback from the more likely they will listen.

  • Compressor won't submit jobs!  Help!!

I have Compressor 3.5 and Final Cut Pro 7 and am trying to send a project to it but after i apply the correct settings to the project to encode to a DVD, (i.e. DVD 90 minutes) for some reason when i try to submit the job the dialog box comes up to name it but the submit button is grayed out. It WON'T allow me to submit any projects! Help!!

Sounds like a problem with QMaster. First, download Compressor Repair and see if that gets it working.
The next step after that would most likely be an uninstall/reinstall of both QMaster and Compressor:

  • Where to get compressor for 10.9.4

I could really use Compressor for use on my MBP that is running 10.9.4
When I go to purchase from the app store it says it is only compatible with yosemite. And it will not download.
    Can't I purchase compressor v 4.01 ?
And if I can, where do I purchase it?
    Thanks,
    theo

You definitely don't need FCP to get Compressor.
But you do need Yosemite. Apple does make available updates to earlier versions of applications for people running 10.7 and higher, but AFAIK it's only for those who have previously purchased the application. Here is the support doc if you're interested in testing whether it will work for a new purchase.
Alternatively, if you don't want to update 10 10, there are a couple of dual boot methods to consider: 1) You may be able to partition your existing drive and install 10.10 on that volume. 2) Connect an external drive and install 10.10 on that/ In either case, you would download Compressor and boot from the new volume when you wanted to run the application.

  • Compressor stalls when running additional Compressor instances

I have been running Compressor 4.1.1 for months on my Mac Pro utilizing the maximum number of "additional Compressor instances" that my computer supports (3).  A couple of days ago I had to do a complete re-install of my Mavericks OS on my boot drive (saving a back up just in case).  Since the clean install of Mavericks and re-installation of Compressor I have been unable to run multiple Compressor instances.  Compressor just stalls with the status showing "Waiting".  Trashing the contents of the ~Library/Application Support/Compressor folder clears the waiting processes.  But unless I disable additional instances the same thing happens as before.
In console I get this message:

What can I do to get additional instances to work again?
    Thanks.

    Russ,
Thank you for your suggestion.  At this point I don't know if I had the Apple Qmaster folder or not.  You see, after working all day yesterday trying to resolve this issue I finally gave up and once more erased my boot drive and did another clean install of Mavericks.  This time, after the install, the first thing I did was repair permissions.  Much to my surprise there was a very long list of permission problems that had to be repaired. I then re-downloaded Compressor.  The first thing I did was set the number of Compressor instances to the maximum of three.  I held my breath and tried a short encode.  Much to my relief everything proceded normally.  So I don't have the answer to what caused this problem.  But a re-install and repair of permissions was all I did to get it resolved.  Now I have the fun part– re-installing all my apps, importing mailboxes, and setting up all my preferences and such.  I will not use the Migration Assistant because that may have induced the problems in my previous clean install?  I may have migrated something that caused problems. So at about 1:00 AM this morning I shut everything down until I could go at it again this morning.

  • Byuing compressor 4.1.1 with mountain lion, is there a way?

    Hello to all,
I don't want to upgrade to Mavericks so I was wondering if there was a way to download Compressor without OS 10.9
    Thanks!

Afraid you can't run 4.1 on anything earlier than 10.8.  10.9
According to this kb document, you should be able to download the latest version that is compatible – which for 10.8 would be Compressor 4.0.7. It can still get the job done – even though it lacks the new UI and has the old style workflow.

  • How to use Compressor for FCP X to YouTube

I just downloaded "Compressor 4" and find it's interface a lot more complex than FCP X. All I want to do is send my video to "YouTube".
The last video I uploaded to "YouTube" was a 1.25 hour HD video, using FCP X's Share to QT 7. It took 17 hours to upload this QT file to YouTube. I would like to upload the next 1.25 hour HD video at a lower resolution. I can't afford to ty up my only computer for so long.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    David

The Compressor preset for video sharing defaults to 720p and a bit rate 8 Mbs. If your orginal footage is 720, that's what I'd stay with. Actually, I might even bump up the bit rate; You Tubes just going to recompress and you might as well give them more to work with than less. If you started with 1080P, I would not scale it down.
I'm not sure I understand what happened with your 17 hour upload…specifically, how you came to share your video to QT7. I normally export from either FCX or FCP7 as QT movie self-contained, bring that into Compressor and encode for eb downoad using one of trhe h.264 presets as a start. If I re-size, I use frame controls. If I need to de-interlace, I also use frame controls. If I don't need to do either, or need filters, I let Compressor figure pretty much figure it out. I've never uploaded a movie aslong as yours. but if I did, I woud expect it to take under 2 hours…maybe.
Perhaps there was soething going on with at You Tube's end.

  • Will Compressor 4 give me ProRes 422 LT,HQ,Proxy even if i'm still on FCP 6?

I have fcp6 which means that the only prores option i have for converting dslr footage is prores 422. I know that the other pro res options (IE: HQ,LT,proxy,444) came with fcp7, so im wondering if by downloading compressor 4 only i'll be able to get these options.
    Thanks
    Ryan

Oops cancel that, Compressor 4 doesn't have a preset for Pro Res LT (in the Pro Res Settings Folder) but it does seem that you can make new setting for Pro Res (LT) using "Adding a new Video Codec" (from Compressor 4 Help) - I haven't tested this.  Sorry to have jumped in a bit early on that one.

I have Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 and Compressor 4.  When I try to share from FCP to Compressor it says I must download compressor.  Help!  I am running this on macbookair with Mavericks.

  • Compressor not happy

I am having some problems with Compressor 3.5
It started with a job suddenly not giving me a duration in the batch monitor.
So I look on here and followed the Apple instructions for uninstall and reinstall.
Now, a job starts, shows a wildly variable duration, then sometimes fails or I get fed up and quit the job.
But 'compressorord' is still running and sometimes there are two running.
Only a complete restart kills them.
I am lost as to what to do, I don't want to reinstall the whole FCS2 again.
    Any help most welcome.

Do you have frame control turned on? I have found when using frame control it can take between 2 to 5 minutes for compressor to kick in depending on the frame control settings, better or best. The original video format/codec can have an affect on this too.
Try sending a 30 second video to Compressor with frame control off and see if this works. Also try something that has worked in Compressor before. Lastly, send something from FCP directly to Compressor. If FCP starts to count off frames (a window will pop up counting frames off) something is happening it it may take time to give you a remaining time.
Open the Activity Monitor and see if anything is happening.
If all hope is still lost download Compressor Repair http://www.digitalrebellion.com/resources.htm from Digital Rebellion and see if that can clear up your problems. Also download the Preference Manger for Final Cut Studio. Just remember that by using these tools you can lose costume settings.

  • Compressor performance - single core transcoding?

I have a relatively new MacBook Pro (15" Retina, 2.6 GHZ i7, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM). I am an experienced user of the Adobe Suite of products especially Premier Pro and Media Encoder. I have download Compressor and run a number of transcoding tests and found that trancoding takes considerably longer compared to Media Encoder. The Activity Monitor reports what looks like on a single core is running (e.g. 100% CPU and the graph showing only about 10% CPU utilization.
Is this right? Are there any settings that can be tweaked to get all the cores on this processor churning on the transcode?

Compressor is multi-core aware.  It may be that your encoding job won't benefit from more than one core.  I could be you're encoding a variation of H.264 that doesn't allow job segmenting.
Also, check your preferences, the Advanced section, how many "instances" is it set to?  The max number is not always the most efficient.  Do a test encode with the Max number, then decrease by one on following tests, see where the sweet spot is.
Finally, only single-pass H.264 will take advantage of the hardware encoding, not multi-pass.
