Download .doc files

When I click a link in Safari to a .doc file, it opens it in Safari. Is there a way to open it in Pages?

I believe a long hold on that link will bring up the option to open in Pages...perhaps not though...I know for sure a long hold on the doc as an email attachment will give this option...maybe web items don't have this ability...try it and let me know...I don't have pages yet...

    I cannot set the default for downloaded .doc files to MS Word. Help

    daviescolin6,
    What happens when you right click on the .doc , select properties, (general tab) and view "opens with"?
    There is a change button, then select "other programs".

  • Downloadable .doc File in Dreamweaver

    Hello everyone. I'm way more comfortable in the graphics
    world, but I've been doing more web design this past year, trying
    to integrate both.
    Anyway, I'm banging my head on my desk trying to figure out
    how to insert downloadable .doc files onto a page for a job I'm
    doing. I'm looking to just have a link that the user can click on
    to have the .doc file download to their machine's desktop (or into
    Microsoft Word, I guess). Any assistance that anyone could offer
    would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance!

    You should be able to link directly to the doc file, the same
    as linking to
    any other file in your site.
    The other way would be zip up the doc and then link to the
    zip file.

    The problem is i upload my .doc file in ms sql server successfully completed. Sorry, I don't see a problem here? You said that it is successfully completed. Please elaborate the problem.
    After that i would like to download the file from the database.can anybody tell that how to download the file from the database.Just get an inputstream of the file from the database using ResultSet#getBinaryStream() and write it to the output of whatever UI technology you're using.

  • Downloaded .doc files are gibberish. they have an ext. html attached that was not on the e-mail

    How can I correct this?

    Do you get working files if you remove that .html file extension and replace it with .doc ?
    You probably need to add quotes around the name ("filename.doc") to make Windows accept that new file extension.

    HI DaiseyBabii,
    Sign in to cloud.acrobat.com with your Adobe ID and password.
    Click the Files tab, and you'll see a list of all the files you've converted.
    Click the file that you want to download, and then click Download in the upper-right corner.
    Let us know if that doesn't do the trick.
    Best,

    Was the document updated or re-uploaded at any point? This
    may cause the virus scanner to want to re-check the file, and you
    will not be allowed to download the file until the virus scanner
    says it is OK.
    Give it some time (maybe a couple of hours just to be safe)
    and try downloading again. If that doesn't work, feel free to
    private message me with a SHARE link to the document and I'll take
    a look.

  • Download Word .doc file saved in MIME Repository to local PC

    I need to store a static Word document on the SAP server and download to the user's browser via a BSP application.  I have found code in the IT00 BSP Application to download the Word doc in xstring form to the browser, which will work for what I'm doing.  What I cannot seem to find, however, is how to retrieve the  Word .doc file stored in the MIME repository and then subsequently how to convert this MIME object to an xstring value.  Is there a class or function module available to retrieve and convert the MIME object to an xstring form so that it can be returned as a response back to the browser?

    you can use the following code snippet to read mime repository content.
    data: o_mr_api type ref to if_mr_api.
    if o_mr_api is initial.
    o_mr_api = cl_mime_repository_api=>if_mr_api~get_api( ).
    endif.
    call method o_mr_api->get
    exporting
    i_url = l_url
    importing
    e_is_folder = is_folder
    e_content = l_current
    e_loio = l_loio
    exceptions
    parameter_missing = 1
    error_occured = 2
    not_found = 3
    permission_failure = 4
    others = 5.
    l_current will hold the image in a XSTRING var

    Hi,
    Which web browser are you using to view the PDF? Safari 5.1.8
    When you open the PDF in Adobe Reader add-in you will either see a floating toolbar
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5224223-317859/430-90/floating +toolbar.JPG
    or a normal toolbar
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5224223-317860/450-11/normalto olbar.JPG
    both the toolbars have save button, use the button to save the file locally. I do not see these toolbars. I do, however see this
    and it works! Thanks
    Hope this will help you.
    Thanks

  • Arrgh. Old reliable firefox suddenly crashes whenver I try to download a file, access a pdf. doc or other random situations...I have the latest version.

    Using Windows XP
    Yahoo mail or G-mail. Trying to download a file from an e-mail I sent to myself from a smart phone, which had worked just fine a week ago, suddenly results in a crash of Firefox. I report said crash. Try to download pdf doc from banking website ...crash. And a few other times, I can't quite remember the exact details...crash.
    On Firefox...7.o1
    Love Firefox...hate this.

    My firefox on an XP is behaving itself.
    Try using firefox's [[safe mode]]
    * do not make changes in the first window, just click on continue
    * use only the default themes
    * whilst in safe mode, disable all plugins
    Firefox should then be working, and not crashing at this stage but it will restrict what you are able to do. If you get crashes:
    * see [[firefox crashes]]
    **follow the tips, and if necessary because crashes continue try to submit crash reports, and copy and paste a few recent crash ID s into your next message.
    If firefox works, then try gradually adding back extensions, then plugins. <br/>(If you have a lot break the list into sections compare 1/2+1/2 ; 3/4 +1/4 etc it is faster than one at a time)

  • Firefox keeps aksing me what programs that i want to open a doc.file with every time i try to download a doc file.

    the program that I use is open office. I chekced the box that says that this will always open a doc file but it keeps asking me about it.

    Firefox should be able to remember your preference -- as long as the site is specifically identifying the file as a distinct content type. Some sites may fail to do this and simply indicate it is a binary file that the browser can't handle, in which case Firefox doesn't store a specific preference.
    So this could be a problem caused by how the server is identifying the content type. Or it could be a problem with the settings file that stores download preferences. The workaround for that problem is to remove the file and have Firefox rebuild it. If you have changed settings from the default (for example, how to view PDFs) you will have to change those settings again.
    If you want to try it:
    Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
    Help > Troubleshooting Information > (in the first table) "Show in Finder" button
    Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit/Quit
    Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''mimeTypes.rdf''' to something like mimeTypes.old
    Restart Firefox and see whether its memory improves.
