  • Exporting data from Production to Development in a R/3 System

    Good Morning,
I have a landscape where i have a Productive and a Development system (SAP R/3 Enterprise Release 4.70 SR1 1.10 with MaxDB 7.5 running on a HP-UX 11.23) and i was asked to copy the data and customizing (not user master data) from Production to Development. Both systems have 7 clients (6 for each country and one for Human Resources) and i need to copy the productive data to the development data (the Productive data can overwrite the Development data).
This is my first time doing this, and since i have a short deadline to do it, i need all the help i can get...
I'm not sure if i should use SCC8 or SCC9 in order to create a transport request for each client copy.
I've checked the OS space in sapdata and transport directories, i've also checked the database space and i need to change MAXDATAVOLUMES size and also create more volumes.
Now that i've done that, i need to know what to do next... Does anyone knows where i can find a procedure or documentation on this? Some kind of step by step guide?
About the Export Profiles, which default profile should i choose in order to copy
All client specific data, customizing AND NOT user master data?
Can i do any kind of test run before the export in order to understand the space i'm going to need in transport directory for example?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Pedro Gaspar

    Hello Pedro,
    1. In SCC8 the SAP_APPL profile isn't available, so i guess i need to use SAP_ALL and change the user master data accordingly afterwards right?
In that case, you should/can 'Export' the user master of the target system before the Client copy, so that you can re-import the same user master in the target system after sap_all copy from source.
    2. I also have several project teams developing in ABAP in my development system. If i export the productive client, will the ABAP code be overwritten (scripts, smartforms, etc...)? I ask this, because right now there are several programs with different versions in both systems (the landscape consists of only a DEV and PRD system NO quality). If the ABAP code in development will be overwritten, i need to tell the development teams to comment all the changes, then create transports to production to make the program versions the same, and then save the data an cofiles to import them again in development after the import. Will also RFC definitions change? Jobs will also be copied? What's the difference between this and a Homogeneous System Copy using backup/restore?
This is the reason that normally the 'Production to Development' copy is not recommended. I would wait if our other techies here can help/advise us for this.
A simple difference between a client copy and system copy is that the client copy is just 'client dependent' change and system copy is 'system wide' change - erasing everything on the target and just overwriting/duplicating the 'complete source' onto the target.
    Thanks

  • Transport of portal pages from Production to Development

    Hi,
I need to transfer the portal pages from from the production server to development server. I did see references from Development to Production but not vice- versa.
Can anybody please help me with this? What are the best practices?
    DEP :- SP19 and PEP - SP9.
    Thanks much,
    Dharmi

    Hi,
    The best practises are :
    1) All the Portal Servers in the System Landscape should have the same version, same support package and patches.
    2) You should never transport from Production to Development, it's always the other way round.
Why do you want to transport something from Production to Development ? We always develop somthing, test it and then trasnport it to production. Any modifications to be done, should be first done on the Development Server, tested and then transported to the Production. I don't see a need to transport content from Production to Development.
Anyways, if you want to do so can you always create a transport package on Portal Production Server, add those pages to the transport package, export the transport package. You may save this transport package on the local system or you may copy this from the export folder of the server to the import folder of Portal Production Server. Then on the Portal Developement Server import the file. If you have saved the transport package file on your local machine, then while importing select client, browse and then import the file from your local machine or else select server -> browse -> import folder -> select the transport package file and import.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Sunil

  • Full export of the CMS from Production to Development

    Hello All,
We have to export the reports and universes from Production to Development. In short we need to sync the Development CMS repository with Production CMS repository.
What is the best way to do this. Is Import Wizard the only way to export the contents to Development?
Because when I exported one report from Dev to Prod , we had to go and reset the scheduling properties again in Production. It did not maintain the properties which it was set to before. Is there a way to maintain the scheduling properties the way it was set to before. Or every time when we export a modified report to Production, we need to go and set properties back?
We are using BO 3.1 version.
    Thanks,
    Naveen

    Hi NR,
You will see both Development & Productions services when you go to the "Servers" in CMC once the development is up.
    For example,
    dev.pageserver
    dev.reportjobserver
    dev.cacheserver
    prod.pageserver
    prod.reportjobserver
    prod.cacheserver
this happens b'cos of using the production schema for development. It will have a copy of the production services, so you need to delete the services once the CMC is up and running.

  • BEx Query to be transported from Production to Development

    Hi All,
We have got an unusual scenario in which we have to import/transport few Bex queries from Production to Development environment. I understand this is not a best practice, but any one suggest the way to implement the same.
    Thanks,
    Jay

    Hi Jay,
For every transport which moves a transport route is configured in transaction STMS (Transport Management System). Ideally it is Dev --> Qal --> Prod. Usually we do not have access to this transaction as Basis Team Configures this route. Check once in transaction STMS (if you have access) that whether the route Prod --> Dev is configured or not (i doubt it would be).
In that case you can raise a request to Basis to configure this route for this exceptional case, if they agree then Transports can be moved via this new configured route.

  • Transfer of FSV from Production to Development

    Hi Gurus,
Is there any way to tranfer FSV from Production system to Development system because we don't have the correct version of FSV in Development system.
Please anybody can help in this.
    Thanks in advance
    Narayanan

    Hi,
yes create a tranpsort request in  P-client from OB58 (mark the FSV version go to "table view / transport"), in the transport request enter the target system number from the DEV-client.
Releaae the request in SE10. In STMS go to the target client, check if the request is ready to be imported in Dev-client if not go to "Extras / other requests / add" and key in the transport request number that you've created to add the request to the import queue.
Your ABAP-guys / base admins can help you if required.

  • Copying Scripts from Production to Development server...

    Hi everybody,
I have a script by name YRSCRIPT_INV in production server.I have a script in Development server with the same name, But i want the script in the production to be copied to the client with someother name.Is it possible to do that?

    Hi Vardharaj,
You have a script with the same name in both production and development .Do you want to copy from prd to dev or dev to prd ? What ever it is , just copy it with a newname and assign the transport request name to the new form and then you can transport it .

  • Downloaded Employee from R/3 is being duplicated in CRM

    Hello group….
We daily run a job that download the Employee (from HR master record) from R/3 to CRM. This job executes the program: RDBMIDOC.
Several Employees are being duplicating when downloaded in CRM.
Meaning: is being generated in CRM 2 or more BP for the same employee.
In CRM generates one BP with a Personal Number value (field: PERNR). And the duplication generates a BP with Personal Number value = BLANK.
Does anyone has an idea or heard about this issue?
    Many Thanks,
    Barbara

    Hi Barbara,
Though your problem is EMPLOYEE Table specific.I'd like to share one solution from the SALES point of view.
You can check your setting for upload to R/3 - table smofparsfa - parameter r3a_sales - pricing type.

  • Replication of Project Server 2010 databases from Production to Development

    HI
We have One Production, One Development and One QA server but the Production data is not matching with the Dev and QA.
Now our client is asking is there any possibility that we can copy the production data bases and replicate in the Dev and QA.
Is there any auto sync method where the production data updates will be updated in Dev and QA automatically.
Our environment is Project Server 2010  4 PWA data bases and 1 config data base and 1 config data base for project sites.
Please suggest a best possible way to solve this issue as i thought to take the the PWA back up frm central admin along with the 4 db back up from pwa--- 6 db back up from sql server---- restore all of them in the Dev and QA---i don't think it is the right
    approach.
    Thanks
    Geetha
Geeth If you feel that the answer which i gave you is Helpful please select it as Answer/helpful.

As per your First post you only want to update the data of DB on regular basis.
Now you are talking about back up restore Please be clear what you want .
If you have all the configuration ready on qa and dev then only replication need to be done.
can i use the replication mechanism for all the 5 databases in PS 2010 at time won't be a problem right
    ?  YES
    other wise
If i want to copy the PWA configuration part can i use play book or any other steps i need to perform.
    YES
We have some workflows on PWA instance. Create workflow on Dev and QA

  • Transport of queries from production to developement

    Hello BI Community,
We allow ad-hoc query development in our production system. Yet certain queries are critical and must be "certified" so that they cannot be overwritten in an ad-hoc manner.
The method for certifying a query is to transport it from the development system, and once done the only way to change this query is to move another transport.
As more and more sophisticated queries need to be certified, it is becoming difficult to re-create those queries in the development system for the certification process.
Does anybody have experience or recommendations around moving a query that was originally created in the production system BACKWARDS to the development system ? Then it would be easy to move forward again via transport for certification.
    Thank you !
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran,
    1. Open production system
    2. Create transport (1) in Prod, add queries, process chains, etc.
    3. Create new transport (2) in Prod (in SE01) of type "Transport of Copies"
    4. Enter your target system on this screen (choose your Dev system here!)
    5. Include objects from transport 1 into transport 2
    6. Release transport 2 to go to Dev
    7. Delete transport 1 from Prod. This release locks on the objects.
    8. Close Prod
    8. Import transport 2 into Dev system
    OR
The reverse transport is usually not setup , what you could do is :
    1. As BASIS to set up the connection
    2. Copy the transport object into file and then import it manually into Development

    Hi Kartikey,
       Follow the below steps.
1.Goto transport connection in RSA1 of ur development.
    2.Click on icon Bex.Create a Bex request.
3.Edit ur query.Assign it to created Bex request.
    4.Transport it to Production.
Your previous query in Production will be over written by the new Query.
Assigning points is the way of saying thanks in SDN.

  • Is it possible to transport an object from Production to DEV?

I have some queries and workbooks in Production that I would like to archive.  I have not been able to find a method to archive, so I am wondering if I can transport the queries and workbooks from Production to DEV?  I realize the queries may not execute, but so long as I can open them up and see their definitions in DEV, I will be satisfied.
I know this sounds a little bizarre, but is it possible to transport anything from Production to DEV?
    Thanks!

    hi
Yes. its possible but its not recom
you can set in production system to allow changes to obj rsa1->transport connection->click 'object changeability', and look for object type , and set to changeable.

  • Export Master Data from Production to DEV

    Hi Gurus,
I need to export All the Master Data and Configuration files from Production to Development System. If anyone can Advise me to know the step by step for exporting and importing. Our PRD server is on HP-UX/Oracle and ECC6.
Eg Master Data like Customer Master, Vendor Master, Material Master...Etc.,
    Please Advice.

    Hi,
I need to export All the Master Data and Configuration files from Production to Development System.
I think you can have a option to do simple Remote Client copy with SAP_CUST or SAP_APPL client copy profile from your PRD system to DEV system.
You can create a New Client in DEV system by performing Remote Client Copy as mentioned above from PRD system to ease the activity.
You can get all the information in below mentioned Web Links.
