Download error: Unable to expand "___" into "Downloads". (Error 2 - No such file or directory).

I keep on getting the message "Download error: Unable to expand "___" into "Downloads". (Error 2 - No such file or directory)" when I try to unarchive zip files that I have just downloaded. Can anyone walk me through how to fix this?

Possible solution if dealling with MobileMe gallery.
I ran into this problem while downloading my mobileme gallery albums and videos. I can't tell if that is where you ran into your problem or not, but if it is, this is what worked for me. Most of my albums downloaded and expanded successfully, however about 5 downloaded and would not expland giving the error you got. After several retries, I selected one of the albums, clicked the settings icon, changed the name (added "-2" to the name). This time the downloaded zip file expanded successfully. This worked for all of the albums that I had problems with.

I understand you are unable to install the HP Support Assistant.  If there is a previous installation of the HP Support Assistant did you try uninstalling it first?
Have you tried installing it in Safe Mode?   Entering Safe Mode (Windows 7)
Have you checked for viruses or malware?
You can try this as it will scan for corrupted files and try to repair them.
Go to the command prompt and right click and run as administrator
Type sfc /scannow and press enter.
    Wait for this to complete.
    Now retry the installation.
Have you made any changes to your notebook?
If the issue still remains I suggest you do a recovery back to factory.

You need to read and follow the Boot Camp instructions. Boot Camp Assistant is already on your computer in the utilities forderf. You run Boot Camp Assistant. Part of the process is to to then download the Windows Support software. This download is then installed from within Windows.
There is no Boot Camp download that needs to be installed or unzipped from within OSx which you seem to be doing.

when downloading the trial, has anyone run into download issues?

I remembered we have weird permission issues at work. Somewhere between my Home Windows 8 machine(horrible permissions issues with network), my home mac, email and my work computer, some permission got out of whack. The workaround for this was copying the file to my desktop, back to the exact same spot on the network. This resolved all issues.

  • During program FPGA, error message is shown as-- couldn't open "................................................./download.bit" : no such file or directory

    Hi Everyone.
I am new to FPGA field.
I am trying to make a system with UART and MicroBlaze for communication with mini USB with terminal.
From the XAPP1180 "Reference system: Kintex-7 MicroBlaze System Simulation Using IP Integrator"
it was successful to test and understand the connection between mini-USB with terminal by displaying "hello world"
So, I wanted to do my own system, with uart and microblaze only without DDR3 (unlike XAPP1180 reference system).
new block design, chose uart/micro blaze --> auto connection
    pin mapping .xdc
    bit generation
    export (include bit stream)
make new hardware platform with .hdf
    program fpga (select .bit/.bmm )
and the error message is shown as
couldn't open "D:/MICRO_BLAZE/uart/uart_only/uart_only.sdk/design_1_wrapper_hw_platform_0/download.bit": no such file or directory

    -h option_list | all | sup[port]
Print help text for command line options. If only a '-h' is given, then
only the option summary is output. If the '-h' is followed by a space
separated list of option names (without the dash), help is output for
the listed options. For example, '-h bm bd i' gives help on the 'bm',
'bd', and 'i' options. Use '-h all' for help on all options. Lastly,
use '-h support' to list the devices the tool supports. The keyword
'support' can be abbreviated up to 'sup'.

  • Time Machine Error Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while ...

    Hi,
I've looked all around the forums for the answer to this one and I'm still unable to get it. So I'm getting this error "Time Machine Error Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while linking files on the backup volume". This started happening after I turned off and on FileVault. I was having a problem with it and turning it on an off got rid of that problem, but created this one. I've noticed that when I shut down the computer and filevault accesses the TM hard drive, it can back up.....but then when I'm logged on, or I want it to back up I get the error. I've tried fixing the drive, removing the in progress file and resetting the PRAM (i think that's what it was called). I'm starting to run out of options and have no other drive to back all this info on to reformat it.
I really don't want to loose all my stuff.
    Please help!

Usually this message happens when you replace an external disk that was being backed-up by Time Machine with another one of the same name.
Since File Vault works by making a sparse image of your home folder, and it's treated as a volume just as a HD is, that's probably what's happening here: the new sparse image has the same name as the old one, but isn't the old one.
First, consider whether you really need File Vault. It doesn't work well with Time Machine: you can't see or restore individual items in your home folder, and it only gets backed-up when you log out.
If you have a lot of other things, say photos, videos, and/or music that don't need to be encrypted, perhaps there's an easier way to secure our sensitive data. You can create an encrypted disk image via Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder), then copy the sensitive documents into it. Then the rest of your home folder is backed-up normally, and individual items can be viewed and restored in the usual fashion.
But if you do continue using FileVault, you may have to use TM to delete all backups of it, via the instructions in item #12 of the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip* at the top of this forum. That should then allow the new version of your encrypted home folder to be backed-up by TM.

  • Time Machine Error: Unable to complete backup. An error ocurred while copy

    Hi.
Everytime Time Machine tries to update my backup copy is gives me the same error: "Unable to complete backup. An error ocurred while copying files to the backup volume."
What's going on and how can I solve this?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Telmo

I have had this problem and solved it. It began when I upgraded to Snow Leopard server after a hard drive failure under Leopard Server. My problem was caused by a number of bad files.
To locate the files that are stopping the backup, open the Console utility in the Utilities folder. On the top left, show the Log List, and select the ALL Messages. Then in the search box, top right, enter .backup , this will locate all the backup logs. Go to the bottom of the log and locate the log that reads "stopping backup." Then, look at the log directly after "stopping backup," this log should contain the error message. In my case the log had an error -41, and the file path and name were listed. After locating and removing the bad file, run your backup again. If you have this problem again, repeat this process.
I had about 15 files with this problem, and oddly they all came from either a very old Mac OS X backup or had been moved from a Window XP computer using file sharing.
    Hope this helps.

Here once again a failed attempt after removing pacman-color. I am beginning to think that maybe running yaourt as sudo is probably a bad idea. I think that may have had something to do with it.

Quite confusing statements. Below sHyLoCk recommends http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=37738 on June 2 2010 and on June 27 he declares his recommended package obsolet and ask a TU to delete! The problem with the sHyLoCk package is there is not page setup option. So I installed this package, it has got the page setup menu, but once I click the option, the application dies with the following output (Maybe helpful to debug for the maintainer, I am not an expert):

  • Makepkg fatal error: dbus/dbus.h: No such file or directory

    Hello everyone.
I downloaded lxappearance2-git from AUR and I tried to makepkg but got the following error at the end of the making procedure:
lxappearance.c:37:23: fatal error: dbus/dbus.h: No such file or directory
I inspected the generated makefiles and none of them has an include path for gcc to /usr/include/dbus-1.0/dbus.
Maybe this is the problem? Or what else.
    Thanks

Oh yea I had two lxappearnce packages to be downloaded i was looking at the wrong one because the dependancy of the one is the other. My bad, gonna check the comments now.
Sorry about crossposting wasn't sure about the nature of the question, its not gonna happen again. Feel free to delete the newbie one I guess
Edit: Hmm to my understanding this is an issue to be solved. Since I know where the dbus library is located, isn't there a way to tell the build where it is? I went through some files like "configure" but there are a little bit complicated for me

I was trying to restore an a time machine archive onto a new drive, as it come to the end I got the following message
Unable to archive 'Name.tar' into 'Time Machine Drive'
(Error 2 - No such file or directory)
I am unfamiliar with time machine so any assistance would be useful.
    thanks

    Thank you for the reply.
I was helping a friend with their back up and it has just been revealed that its not actually a time machine .tar file im now trying to find research the truth behind the original archiving application.
    Thank you for the time
