Download Errors : Speed Download

Recently, origin unknown, my laptop has stopped recognizing downloads. The error message specifically refers to Speed Download :
Speed Download cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure Speed Download works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
Please advise.

Get rid of Speed Download as fast as you can. It causes nothing but trouble.
If as Bee suggests you try the Uninstaller and it doesn't work, you may have to install Speed Download again. Once you have installed again then run the Uninstaller once again.
I know when I tested it on my system, I had an extremely difficult time getting rid of it. Their tech support was totally worthless. They insisted that it was the greatest thing going. They were more like used cars salesmen rather then any kind of support.
It was someone on this forum that suggest I install again and then uninstall it. That worked for me.

Firefox used to download with Speed download along with other browsers, but since updating to version 6.0.2 it no longer does so; OS Z 10.6.8 and Speed Download v 5.2.28; what do I need to adjust and how, to get it working 'in the team' again, please?

I have had problems with Safari and OS 10.6.8 (I think caused by Apple getting ready for Lion!) but after a lot of uninstalling etc I now have Safari, Camino and Chrome (all most recent versions) automatically sending downloads to Speed Download.
Speed Download Plugin v 2.1.5 is installed; I do not know what or where to adjust or reset to get Firefox letting its downloads be picked up automatically once again like the other three browsers.

Lightning is a problem for you because it hooks into Thunderbird at a low level and you need a version compiled for the platform Thunderbird is running on. So you can't do the preferred solution, which is to put your whole profile in a shared folder and have both instances of Thunderbird reference the same profile. (Ditto for Enigmail). Lightning may become an integral part of Thunderbird in an upcoming release, at which point this limitation due to Lightning should disappear.
And if you can't use a shared profile, you can't set your Lightning, or your Address Book, to share a common set of files. Put another way, the linkage from Thunderbird to its address book files and calendar data is hard-coded, and not exposed where we can adjust it. :-(
The halfway house is to place your mail stores in a shared place, and use the Local Directory setting in each account's settings to connect to it. They don't need to be in the profile; what's more important in your case is that they are in a folder accessible to both operating systems.
Look in your profile; everything under Mail and ImapMail needs to be moved out to a shared folder. Note the entries in Thunderbird under Local Directory before you do this, and reconstruct those pathnames in Thunderbird, but adjusted to suit their new locations.
(You can see here that you need to make many adjustments, one per account, in each instance of Thunderbird, so it's a high-maintenance solution and this is why we don't recommend it when the alternative, moving the whole profile, is possible.)
I share address books and calendars between Thunderbirds on various computers (and my phone and tablet) by syncing to something in the cloud; Google Contacts and Google Calendar are my choices, using gContactSync and CalDav.
Having made the break myself some years ago, I'd recommend you break away from Windows. ;-)

How can I get Firefox to pass its downloads to Speed Download as all the other browsers do (it used to be able to do this)?

Until a few months ago All our browsers could automatically pass their downloads to "Speed Download" for downloading, very handy to have them all working in one place.
Now after recent updated in the last six months or so Firefox alone no longer does this but insists on using its own download setting.
how can I get it to respond to Speed Download as before, along with Google Chrome, Camino and Safari?

Have you tried the update to Fast Dial, version 4.2.1 or later? It should override the built-in new tab page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fast-dial-5721/ ''(Note: I haven't tested it myself)''
If you are using a similar add-on that isn't the same "Fast Dial", which one is it?

Why does Firefox v 7.0 no longer pass downloads to Speed Download?

All my Browsers worked with Speed Download v. 5.2.28 doing the downloading for them (installed are Safari 5.0.5, Chrome 14, and Camino 2.0.9), but since updating to v 7.0 Firefox no longer seems to allow the downloads to be handled by SpeedDownload.

Go to ADVANCE then UPDATE and '''''uncheck''''' automatically download and install the update.

Download Error when downloading to iPad

I have taken on of the publications that I created on the pre-release program and have installed the new tools on CS5.
I have managed to import my publication and I can look at it online at adobe.com as well as in the Folio Builder in CS5.
I have done a preview in CS5 and it renders it ok there and I can view it on the PC.
Have I missed a stage?
When I fire up the Content viewer on the ipad and login I can see a reference to my publication. When I press download I get the following error
Error During Download
Cannot Start the download because the file is missing or invalid

i've got the same problem, i'm testing InDesign CS5.5, i upload everything. It's working fine with the desktop viewer.
But when i open the Adobe Content Viewer on the iPad, i can see that there is a new content with the good name.
But there is no thumb preview for this content, and when i click on it to download it, the APP say that the content it's empty or not valide.

Download error on download fro mItunes.

I tried purchasing a movie from my Iphone in Itunes and had a problem downloading. It will not allow me to continue downloading and I was not charged for the movie. The problem is it did not vanish from my downloads and continues to try and download but coming up wit han error message? How do I erase this from my download mgmt so it stops trying to download it and prompting me to provide my Itunes password all day?

Try downloading it from your computer. Sign into your itunes store account within iTunes and then Store>Check for available downloads.
If you can not get it to download this way then contact iTunes support.

Can't download an episode of Mad Men - should have plenty of space. Keep getting this error message. Emptied Recycle Bin - no help.

Start -> Computer -> C: drive, right click - Properties.
How much free space do you have?
You shold generally have 10%-15% free space on your boot )C:) drive.
If not, you need to clear some space by deleting them/ moving them to other drives.

I downloaded a rental movie. When I go to download it pops up an error message.

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not downloading properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

Download error, while downloading 3rd party software

Hello all, I'm a newbie to SCCM2012 R2. When I attempt to do a software download for Mozilla, Java etc... i'm getting this error below. I can download MS updates fine, but 3rd party updates. We are using Secunia to publish 3rd part updates to WSUS,
which works fine. Then I sync SCCM with WSUS and SCCM finds the published 3rd party software, but I can't download it. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I just installed iTunes for Windows XP. When I try downloading my first song, a dialogue box pops up in iTunes and I get an error messgae saying "There was an

Download error when downloading movies?

Downloaded movies and in downloads it says error but they are showing up in videos. Are they downloaded? Do not want to click on it and then have only 24hours to watch it? Please advise?

Download error when downloading films

Every time I try to download a film or TV program of a relatively large size, in the last seconds of the download the download stops with error-50.
I have tryed deleting the unfinished download from my itunes download folder and restarting the download, but the same thing happens over and over again.
I have been able to download TV programs and videos of smaller size with no problems.
Any suggestions?

This is probably a dumb question on my part, but your ISP doesn't have any limit in size or time of downloads, do they?
Presuming not, do you have plenty of space available on your hard drive, and have you run a disk verification using Disk Utility? Those may have nothing to do with the problem, but just to check, since the problem does appear to be related to the size of the downloaded file in some way.
Someone else here may well have better ideas, but perhaps these notions will help, if not by leading to a solution directly then eliminating some possibilities.

This is a two day old issue with my phone. Everytime I try to download an application off the market it says "Download error. Download was unsuccessful, please try again." I have my background data enabled, I dunno what to check as far as my settings are concerned. Anyone have input?

I get a download error when downloading rented movies to itunes on my pc. The error messge is -42110
