Download family member purchased music to my computer

Hey,
I've set up family sharing for my family's devices, me acting as the family organizer.
Recently, my sister purchased a music album and I wanted to download this album. As for downloading it to my iPhone, everything was slick but when i tried to get it to my MacBook, iTunes stated that there is no purchased music available to download.
Am I missing something?
Thanks you!

Hi lucidsnsz,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that there is an album purchased by a member of your Family Sharing group that you would like to download on your Mac. Please read over the attached information to ensure that sharing is set up correctly and for information on how to access Family Sharing purchases from iTunes.

  • Downloading purchased music on my computer at work

Can't get the downloads of previously purchased music, or get tracknames to download. Can access the music store, and could access another user's recommended list. I get error 1001, saying my request cannot be processed by the music store, try again. I use Windows 2000, and can get most internet sites.

You cannot download a track from the iTunes Music Store more than once, so if you downloaded a track at home, you'll have to copy it from that system (via CD, USB flash drive, etc.) to your computer at work.
Note that you will have to be able to connect your work computer to the iTMS to get it authorized to play your purchased tracks. Problems connecting to the iTMS usually stem from firewalls, proxy servers, or privacy filters blocking access, so make sure that any such systems in place allow connections to the following domains:
    phobos.apple.com
    phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net
    Hope this helps.

I lost purchased music on my computer that was purchased in the last 4 to 5 months because of virus. I did not back up the few songs I purchased on cd. I also lost all data on my Ipod nano and had to restore it. How do I download these purchases I lost?

Go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the Purchases link under the Quick Links. From there you should be able to re-download some or all of your purchased content. Note that not all content has been licensed for re-downloading in all countries at this time; you can see what content you can download here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085
You can also re-download content using an iOS device.
    For more information, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
This if course will not apply to songs you did not buy through the iTunes Store.
    Regards.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base, before you post a question.

  • HT3702 Why can't I download my already purchased music and other files from iCloud, even though I owe money to iTunes for my most recent purchases.  Doesn't seem right that they keep me from accessing those files which I've already paid for!

    - Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
    - Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
If they are still available and listed in your Puchase History then contact iTunes

  • Plyaing purchased music on another computer

How do you play your purchased music on another computer?... I downloaded an album on to my other computer, is there any way where i can get it onto this cmoputer without purchasing it again?

You'll need to physically move the files any way you like (email, usb key, CD, etc...). The other computer will have to have iTunes installed. You bring the files into iTunes by dragging into iTunes' window or doing File->add to library from iTunes. When you play the song it will ask you for your iTunes account and password.
You can authorize up to 5 computers to play your iTunes purchased songs.

  • HT4539 how can i download a previous purchase to my new computer? I can't find it in my purchased category but they appear as purchased on th ei tune store??

how can i download a previous purchase to my new computer?
I can't find it in my purchased category but they appear as purchased on th ei tune store??

What type of item is it ? What you can re-download will show under the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes. As long as they are still in the store then your apps and ibooks should appear there, and potentially music, films and tv shows (media can't be re-downloaded in all countries) - audiobooks and ringtones are currently one-time only downloads, so they won't appear.
If they don't show then have you still got copies of the items somewhere e.g. on your old computer (copying between computers) or on a backup of your downloads ?

  • I purchased music on my computer with old email address, same computer new email address, but I get play music becasue it tells me computer not authorized...how do you authorize???

I purchased music on my computer with old email address, same computer new email address, but I get play music becasue it tells me computer not authorized...how do you authorize???

I have almost the exact same problem. I have a bunch of music, ringtones, TV shows, movies... stuff that I purchased that I can't authorize. All of these items were purchased with the same account I'm still using now. The difference is that I've changed my email address. I don't have the original email address from when I made those purchases and I'm unable to authorize them. I can see that when I view info on one of these purchases the "Account Name: " has my old email address... not my iTunes or Apple account. So, if I'm authorizing my iTunes using my new email none of these older purchases will work.
I'm really curious how to fix this. I've got quite a few purchases from years back that I'd like access to, but I can't authorize using my new email/iTunes or my old email (the one used for the original purchases).
Take a look at the info and tell me if you see "Account Name:" on one of your purchases. And is that associated to your old email address? There has to be a way to fix this or 'transfer' older purchases, especially if it's all under the same real 'account'.

  • HT201272 itunes was on mac book that crashed.  Did all steps to download purchased music onto new computer.  Only part of my purchased music was transferred to new computer.  Can't recover remainder of purchased music.

Apple's policy is clear: iTS purchases can be downloaded only once. It is your responsibility to make back-ups . (For most people, this will involve either CD's/DVD's or an external drive .)
That being said, at their discretion they have made one-time exceptions to this policy. You can ask for an exception by submitting the form on this page:

Good Luck! But whatever the response from Apple, remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!

  • How to download purchased music onto new computer (please)?

How can I get my purchased music back onto a new computer? Old one crashed, only had some of my music on the ipod. I've followed some posts to get the ipod music back to the computer, but I see songs in itunes purchase history that are not showing up anywhere (that I can see). Is there any way to get these back? I tried the option that iTunes lists for downloading purchased music, but these didn't seem to download. Can anyone help? I'm not real computer savvy so please explain it "for dummies." thanks
