Download file size issue

Hello, one of the download files for CS6 is DesignWebPremium_CS6_LS16.7z which lists on the download site as being 4.6Gb.
I have downloaded it twice with no reported errors but the file downloaded is only 489Mb.
When I try to extract the install files it fails, first I want to check if this .7z file is correct or not as the size certainly doesn't match what the web site says.
Thanks.

you're not completing the download.
check your disk space and if that's ok try dl'g with a different browser.

  • Recording File Size issue CS 5.5

I am using CS 5.5, a Balckmagic Ultra Studio Pro through USB 3.0 being fed by a Roland HD Video switcher. Everything is set for 720P 60fps (59.94) and the Black Magic is using the Motion JPEG compression. I am trying to record our sermons live onto a Windows 7 machine with an Nvidia Ge-Force GTX 570, 16 GB of Ram and a 3TB internal raid array (3 drives). It usually works great but more often now when I push the stop button in the capture window, the video is not proceesed and becomes unusable. Is it a file size issue or what. I get nervous when my recording goes longer than 50 Minutes. Help

Jim thank you for the response. I have been away and busy but getting
    caught up now.
I do have all drives formatted as NTFS. My problem is so sporadic that I
can not get a pattern down. This last Sunday recorded fine so we will see
how long it last. Thanks again.

  • When I download videos (from an external hard drive), they appear to be downloaded (file sizes look correct) but they all stop playing a few minutes in!

When I download videos (from an external hard drive), they appear to be downloaded (file sizes look correct) but they all stop playing a few minutes in!

Try the following in the terminal
    ls -alh filename
    du -chs filename
And what happens if you play the files directly of the external drive?

  • Windows Update Helps with File Size Issues?

I'm just wondering if anybody has recently noticed an
improvement related to the file size issue variously reported
    throughout the forums?
I ask because our IT folks distributed a Windows update on 2
days last week and since the application of those updates I have
not experienced the freakishly large file sizes and the related
performance issues in Captivate. Unfortunately I don't have any of
the details of what patch(es) were installed, as it was part of our
boot script one morning and I didn't even realize it was updating
until I received the Reboot Now or Later alert.
Anyway, I was curious because I have experienced significant
    performance improvement since then.

If you are using a remote workflow ... designers are sending off-site editors InCopy Assignment packages (ICAPs) .... then they need to create assignments in order to package them for the remote InCopy user. So there's no need to split up a layout into smaller files or anything.  An assignment is a subset of the INDD file; multiple assignments -- each encompassing different pages or sections -- are created from the same INDD file.
When the designer creates the assignment, have them turn off "Include original images in packages"; that should keep the file size down.
Or -- like Bob said -- you can avoid the whole remote workflow/assignment package rigamarole all together by just keeping the file in a project folder in the Dropbox folder on teh designer's local hard drive, and have them share the project folder with the editors. In that workflow, editors open the INDD file on their local computer and check out stories, just as though they were opening them from a networked file server.

  • How to show a downloads file size in the "Save As" dialog?

    Hello,
I have been using Firefox off and on for the last year or so, and there's one thing that always gets me to stop using it, whenever I download a file I cant see the file size of it in the "Save As" dialog, Internet Explorer and Opera has this feature and it's one of the things that I really need, I have tried that extension that does this (I forget the name of it), but unfortunately it is not for Firefox 4 :(
Thanks you for your help :)

    Hi,
Visit the following link for you addon:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/show-file-size/
This addon is incompatible for Firefox 4.0 RC. but you can add another addon in firefox to make it work: Addon Compatibility reporter. 1st install this addon and then install your " Show file size addon" it should work then.

  • Exported media file size issues Sometimes one size, Sometimes another without making any changes in FCPX?

    Hi there
I'm having some strange issues with files sizes from
    Share>Export Media
I'm not changing anything about the video (just moving an audio track forwards and backwards ever so slightly to try and get it to the correct timing), nor am I changing anything about the way I export the video.
I am always using the EXACT same settings
Sometimes finder states my video is 1.15GB, sometimes its states its 3.8GB
But then when I close Finder down and then go back into Finder again to find the file it states its gone from 1.15GB to 3.8GB
I'm not sure if this is a error with my system or Final Cut Pro X?
By the way I'm running 10.0.5
    Thanks

    Bob,
Well, the issue has gone to press and I have upgraded to Snow Leopard and CS5. Initial tests show that the problem still exists, and that it is  related to the XML tags. The problem occurs both with legacy (CS4) documents and documents created from scratch in CS5. As I mentioned before, it only seems to happen when overrides are applied to paragraph styles.
Here is a sidebar as exported from InDesign. Overrides were applied to the two headlines to modify color, point size and baseline shift:
The file with XML tags, packaged and opened in InCopy CS5:
The same file with XML tags removed, packaged and opened in InCopy:
OK. Now is when things start to get really interesting.
I thought perhaps that exporting the InDesign file as an IDML document, then reopening it, might perhaps fix the problem. But, no. In fact, when I reopened the IDML file in InDesign, the font styles were broken in _exactly_ the same places as they were in InCopy. Apparently, whatever problem InCopy is having with the XML tags is being duplicated by the IDML export. (Do these processes share the same file format?)
For example, here is a title page from the magazine as a screen grab in InDesign. Overrides were applied to the top headline on a line-by-line basis:
The same file, exported as an IDML file and reopened in InDesign:
As with InCopy, when the XML tags are removed, the IDML file reopens in InDesign just fine. Unfortunately, removing the XML tags is not a option. We need them to repurpose the content after it goes to press.
This is a real bug, and for us it's a serious one. I'm surprised it hasn't come up before. Is there any way to draw this to Adobe's attention? I'd be more than happy to share any of these files if that would help.

  • Sender File adapter Pooling interval & file Size issue

    Hi ALL,
I have a file size of 400 MB to be picked to be the sender file adapter i am facing issue that the system is unable to even pick the file and place in the Q for Processing.
1)we have no mapping no content conversion ....only pick the file from one loaction and place it in 3 different locations with 3 different names ...can any one help me in solving this .. ? the best workable method to achive this .
    2) this file is getting created once in a day .say 2 PM .so i can give the poll intravel to 24 hours ..but some times ..the file creation in server gets delayed ..but they cont wain for the next 24 hour to come for processing the file ..so my query is can we reduce  the poll intravel for 2 PM till  3PM hour for some 3 times ..and once it reches 3PM  it can poll as usual with a gap of 24 hour time ..
    thanks

    Hi Rupash,
    >>I have a file size of 400 MB to be picked to be the sender file adapter i am facing issue that the system is unable to even pick the file and place in the Q for Processing.
Never use File adapter for picking large file (maximum size which I have seen it to work successfully is 200 MB)
Instead go for Java proxies. Check this forum post for the discussion:

  • Smart Objects - File size issues

    Hey All,
The Question: Not sure if this question has been answered elsewhere. But when using a nested smart object (meaning a smart object within a smart object) Photoshop CS5 doesn't display the correct file size (at bottom left) or seem to account for the nested smart object file size.  Is there a "setting" I’m missing to accurately display what the true file size is?
The Problem: Using multiple nested smart objects that I have reduced the size of my image to be 260x200 for web export. Photoshop CS5 won't let me save a file that appears to be only 3mbs claiming it's over 2 gig's. See image below.
Really not sure what to do about this, the company I work for makes lots of changes so using smart objects is necessary for my work flow. But also seems to be slowing me down trying to figure out issues like this and is problematic when it comes to saving all the work I have been doing.
    Thanks for the help

One thing you might have missed is that Photoshop is not a file editor its a document editor.   The sizes Photoshop is displaying are related to how much ram it using for the documents data. How efficient ram is being used etc. File sizes vary all over the place sizes depend on the number of pixels in an image format support layers no layers compression?, transparency.   There is no way Photoshop could even guess at any file sizes.
An other is all smart object layer are not created the same and their sizes my be far different the you may think.
Smart object layers have a basic format. There is an embedded object, there is a composite pixel rendering for embedded object that is used for the layer pixels and there is a transform associated for the layer rendered pixels.
Anything Photoshop supports can be an embedded object.  These objects are copies of the original object.  For example a copy of a RAW file where ACR settings are stored in the file copy metadata. An embedded object might be a copy of a PSD file that has thousands of layers. in any case Photoshop renders pixels for the embedded objects composite view and uses these rendered pixels as the smart object layers pixels.  These pixels can not be changed within the document.
However the embed object can be opened and worked on and changed. If the change is committed Photoshop will update the embedded object and render the updated object composit view and replace the layers pixels.
Smart Object Layer Pixels can only be acted on in the document not changed with paint etc. For example the Transform associated with the smart object layer sizes and positions the layer rendering over the canvas. The layer actual size may be larger then, smaller then the canvas size and have a different aspect ratio then the canvas. Example if you place in an image that is larger then the document canvas size one of Adobe Photoshop's Preferences is set by default have Place resize large images to fit within current the documents canvas size. The transform associated with that placed layer would cause the rendering of the layers pixels to fit with in the canvas.
Though an embedded  object may contain thousands of layers the actual object may be much smaller then you think for PSD files are compressed object may be compressed.  Also while the embedded object  may contain vector layers when a smart object layer is transformed the layer is transformed using interpolation like a raster layer for all that is being transformed is the pixels Photoshop rendered for the embedded smart object. The only way to work on the embedded smart object layers it to open the smart object and work on the object itself.j

  • CS5: File size issue?!

I am currently trying Photoshop CS5 and found some issues regarding memory and file size.
One issue shows up as following:
Opened a 21MP photo via Camera Raw as Smart Object, used Noise Reduction Filter and saved this one Layer image as PSD without maximum
compatibility turned on. Filesize: 222.626KB (~222MB, which is quite big i thought to myself).
Then rasterized this Smart Object and saved the image again. Filesize: 84.164KB (~84MB, which is more to my likings).
Again converted the Layer into a Smart Object, Smart Sharpened it and saved it. Filesize: 258.302KB (~258MB).
Of course i usually do not switch between rasterized layers and smart objects all the time, this was just for demonstration purposes.
Something seems strange here, why is the smart object three times larger on disk then the rasterized version?
Is it because i use a trial version???

Printing to PDF from the print box is an OS process - it takes the printer data that Photoshop sends and creates PDF from it.
Photoshop CS5 does use the newer Cocoa printing APIs, which could cause changes in the output (due to differences in Apple's code).
For saving PDF, I really suggest you just save the file as PDF from Photoshop and skip the print dialog.

  • Software Update File Size Different than Apple Downloads File Size

    Background:
I am running software update and it retrieves the update for "MacBook, MacBook Pro Software update 1.1" File size is listed as 768K. When I go to the Apple Downloads page for this update, the file size is 979K.
Download ID is 16618 and URl is http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macbookmacbookprosoft wareupdate11.html
    Question:
Is this discrepancy normal based on the way that Software Update calculates file size or should I be concerned? There is no hash to confirm integrity of the file.

File size, and the volume of space it takes up are 2 different things. Space will very from computer to computer. Chances are, the larger the drive the more space it takes up. Reason? The file system (HSF + on macs with Leopard). The file sytem divides the drive into specific number of sections. That number may be 10 M, say. So, even if you have a thumbnail that is 4 kb, it will still require the minimum size of the file system. Make sense? There is a lot of wasted space on very large drives.
Note: Leopard is set up to use a new file system that apple may soon adopt. It will not use the division method HFS + uses, and so will save a lot of space, if adopted.

  • File size issues with remote workflow

    Hi everyone
I am currently reviewing InCopy as a tool for our two 24 page full colour quarterly publications and the problem I am currently facing is the design team are claiming the file sizes would be a problem for us to use the remote workflow - how do you guys manage large files over email? Any tips or advise?
Also, regarding the layout workflow, does it require a large effort from the design team to divide into individual spreads? As this is another issue.
We currently have a cumbersum process and would like to resolve asap.
Would greatly appreciate any advise you may be able to offer
    Thanks in advance

  • Photoshop cc 2014 file size issue

I just noticed this happening last night and continues today. When converting raw images from my Canon 5D Mark III in camera raw into the updated  PS CC 2014, my file sizes show as half the amount they are supposed to. When viewing  the info on a TIFF file that is supposed to read 66mb, it shows as 33mb both on the finder, external drive and in Bridge. However, when opening back up in PS CC 2014, it reads correctly while in the program. I just opened the same Raw file (s) in the older PS CC and it comes out perfectly as it should. Anyone else running into this with the latest update of PS CC 2014?

Check your ACR workflow options they may be interpolating your images.

  • Save As PDF file size issues

I am currently using Word 2008 to produce a club newsletter for email distribution. The Word (.docx) file can be up to 2.4MB in size. When I use Print > Save to PDF the resulting file can be as large as 12MB! I tried using the CUPS-PDF virtual printer option and got a file 26MB is size!!
A friend used his Windoze machine to print to PDF and got the file size I was after at just over 1MB. I also tried the Adobe Online "convert to PDF service" and got file sizes lower than 1MB.
What is going on with the Mac OSX conversion? How can I get smaller PDF's without having to shell out for Adobe Acrobat Pro?

    Peter Ongley wrote:

This may not help or may degrade any images in your document, but try this: Open the PDF file in the Preview application. Invoke File -> Save As, then set "Quartz Filter" to "Reduce File Size", give the file a different name, and save the file.

  • File size issues

I am using Photoshop CS5  extended (16bit) on a Mac. In Bridge, in Metadata the 8 bit file in question is shown to be 519 MB. When opened in Photoshop the Info Panel reads Doc 5.08G/7.01G. Why the discrepancy?
    Thanks
    Jay

Again, Bridge is showing you the size of the file on disk.
Photoshop is showing you two things: the size of the flattened document in memory, and the size of the whole document (including layers) in memory.
Those are measuring 3 completely different things.
Photoshop doesn't show you the file size - because the file size will depend on the file format chosen, compression options, the pixels in the file (and how well they compress), etc.

  • File size issue with exporting PDF

We write a newsletter for our daughter's gym and are trying to export a Pages '08 document into a PDF small enough for e-mail. When we export with Best settings the file size is 3.2MB, with Better the file is 4.1MB and with Good the file size is 3.8MB. Why would the lowest quality setting (Good) result in a larger file size than Best?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
That does seem odd the "good" export would be bigger. One thing that causes Pages documents to be so big is the graphics. If you pre-process the images to close to the actual size you'll use it will reduce the size of your Pages document. I prefer using GraphicConverter but you could use any image editor such as Photoshop Elements.
Also, if you do any image manipulation in Pages, it will greatly increase the file size because Pages keeps all of the images in the document package.
You can also try the "Reduce File Size" filter in ColorSync in the Print dialog. Click "Copies & Pages" > ColorSync & then Reduce File Size under Filters, Then click the PDF button in the lower left of the Print dialog. I don't find that the Compress PDF choice in the PDF menu saves much, if any.
