Download files and burning on cd

Hi
Mac is new to me - and I dont find it very easy compare to Windows - to be frank! Drag and drop dont realy function in mac it seems...
I have downloaded some files in Safari. A download windows is opening and the files are stored here. If I mark them and try to drag them over to the program TOAST... nothing happends...
If I cut them out... they "dissapears" and I cant past them into a window in Finder. I cant drag them into the folder in Finder. If I past them back into the download window they start to download again. This is soooooooo frustrating!
If it was windows.. this is usualy no problem what so ever.
What am I doing wrong and where are the files if I cut them out of the download panel? And why cant them be pasted into another program.. or draged into a folder???

Hi Morten,
I have downloaded some files in Safari. A download windows is opening and the files are stored here.
The files aren't "stored" there, it's simply a list of what you have downloaded. The real files are somewhere else.
What am I doing wrong and where are the files if I cut them out of the download panel?
Each of the files should have a magnifying glass to the right of the filename - click that and a Finder window will open where the file lives.
At present I imagine all the files will be going to the default download location you have set in the General section of the Safari preferences.
And why cant them be pasted into another program.. or draged into a folder???
When you find the files, give this another go and things should work the way you expect them to

  • How do you download music and burn to a cd so it will play in a car radio

    How do you download music and burn to a cd so it will play in a car radio?

    Download the tracks you want form the iTunes Store, Amazon MP3, or other online music retailer.
    Use iTunes to put them into a playlist.
    Open the playlist and click File > Burn Playlist to Disc.   (Have a blank CD-R ready for this step.)  When the dialog comes up, choose "Audio CD."
    This will create an audio CD that will play in a normal CD player such as the kind found in cars.

  • How to not append '.PART' to the file name of the currently downloading file, and just download the file with its normal filename

    In Windows, when Firefox (I'm currently using 7.0) downloads a file, it appends ''.PART'' to the file name of the currently downloading file and just renames it to its original file name after it finishes downloading.
    I sometimes like to watch a currently downloading video file, so it will be better if Firefox just downloads the file to its actual filename (like what Opera does), so I can easily double click the incompletely downloaded file and watch it with the video player assigned to that file extension, rather than the awkward ''Right click -> Open With -> Choose Default Program'' route with .part files.
    Does anyone know how to set Firefox to do this?

    It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox and prevents Firefox from renaming the .part file.
    Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
    See "Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows"

    Sony 50mm f1.4 ZA SSM Lens Profile in 8.4 RC  any way I can download file and load into Lightroom ?

    Short answer. No.

  • I purchased creative lightroom presets. I see the zip file in my download file and I try to import to LR but it just keeps creating a bundle never giving me the option to import (greyed out). What am I doing wrong?

    I purchased creative lightroom presets. I see the zip file in my download file and I try to import to LR but it just keeps creating a bundle never giving me the option to import (greyed out). What am I doing wrong?

    Try unzipping the file first. I have no idea regarding your level of technical expertise so advanced apologies if this is really basic. A ZIP file is a compressed file containing one of more files within it. To access the files you will need to expand it. If you double-click on it first, it should open up for you. If it does not automatically expand, you can select the files and copy them to a new folder. The copy will unload them into an uncompressed form. Once they have been uncompressed, you should be able to import them.
    If the import is still giving you problems, go to your Preferences, click on the Presets tab and click the Show Presets Folder button. You can then copy your purchased presets into the folder shown. You will want to copy them to the User Presets subfolder.

  • JSP, downloading files and show html page

    I like to download files and show a html page on JSP.
    With the source following, downloading works well.
    But, it is just remained on the previous page, not showing the next html page.
    Someone tell me why is it?
    <%@ page import="java.io.*, java.net.URL"%><%
    String file_name = request.getParameter("file_name");
    File fileDir = new File(config.getServletContext().getRealPath("upload/"));
    File theFile = new File(fileDir, file_name);
    FileInputStream fin = new FileInputStream(theFile);
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","attachment; filename=\"" + theFile.getName()+"\"");
    response.setContentLength((int) theFile.length());
    BufferedInputStream bf = new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream(theFile), 8096);
    int i;
    while ((i=bf.read()) != -1)
    out.write(i);
    bf.close();
    out.close();
    %>
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>file download</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <p align="center"> </p>
    <p align="center"><b><font face="Tahoma" color="#000000" size="2">You have
    successfully downloaded your file(<%=file_name%>)!</font></b></p>
    </body>
    </html>

    You's already close the JSP output stream befor you try and write your html confirmation, and I don't think browsers can provide the kind of functionality you're trying to demonstrate here. A browser will download the file and open it directly itself or using another application based on user input (e.g. save as, open file, etc.). Once the file is opened or downloaded, it's done!
    I think your best bet is to show a dialogue that the user's download should begin, then set the pages href w/ JS to the location of the file, same way other sites that allow you to download files do it. Go take a look at download.com or something like that.
    Hope that helps.

  • Ok, what can I do with downloaded music and burn to cd's

    Two questions, when you download a song, you can only burn it to a cd 7 times? Or is that a playlist of more than one song?
    What happens if I download my music, burn it to a cd, then something happens to my mac and I have to wipe the HD and start from scratch. Will itunes realize when I reload my music that it is mine?

    when you download a song, you can only burn it to a cd 7 times?
    This only applies to songs with DRM. Any songs you purchase now do not have DRM.
    And this only applies to a specific playlist with a song containing DRM.
    You could put that song in a new playlist and burn it 7 more times.
    What happens if I download my music, burn it to a cd, then something happens to my mac and I have to wipe the HD and start from scratch.
    1 - You have it on the burned CD
    2 - You have it on the backup of your importatnt files you want to keep
    3 - 17 years of Mac owning I have never had to "wipe the HD and start from scratch". It's not something you do on a regular basis. Some Windows users do it for many problems and some do it regularly just to keep things running smoothly. ???
    Will itunes realize when I reload my music that it is mine?
    No. You only get one download.

  • Whenever I download a file nothing shows up in the Download box so I can't click on the downloaded file and load it. I'm using XP with Firefox ver 5.0 but the download box was always empty in previous versions too.

  • Trying to import .mov audio file and burn as MP3

    Can someone point me to a thread, or be kind enough to post answer, about how I might successfully import a .mov audio file and wind up burning it as an MP3. I've been dinking around with this for too long. I can import it and end up with it in the format: MPEG-1, Layer 3. But when I burn it to CD and play it on a Sony boom box, I hear nothing. I tried playing it in another iMac and hear nothing.
    Thanks.

    I was hoping someone in this forum could point me in the right direction to a web site that is designed specifically for Garage Band users that need sound effects.
    Check out:

    These both are GarageBand-oriented.

  • New version doesn't download into download file and says do I want to replace other when there is no other shown?

    I was happily running Mozilla 5.01 or something like that. Updated to new version 6.01. After download tried to access and got "5.01 not compatible with mini 6.02 and max 6.o2. So I uninstalled download and all Mozilla in program files and tried again. Still wouldn't work but at least it would download into my save download file. When I uninstalled again because it wouldn't work and tried to download latest 6.02 yet again, it told me it was saved in my file but it wasn't there. What's going on? I'm having to use Explorer to even get to you.

    Go into your system profiler and tell us your Machine Identifier that says:
    iMac x,y (give us the x and y values)
    That will tell us whether you are Mavericks compatible or not.
    Also tell us how much RAM you have installed.

  • I cannot open downloaded files and they do not appear in the download folder

    Up until yesterday everything was fine. All of a sudden when i try to download anything via firefox it shows it is downloading it completes the download but when i click the downloaded file in the download section or try to click open containing folder nothing happens. Also, I have checked the download folder and no file is present there. I have tried everything in the faqs and they do not seem to work thank you.

  • I cannot open downloaded files and photos

    Basically as the title; whenever I download anything, whether it's an .exe file/program or a simple photo, nothing happens when I click on it in the downloads window to open it. If I do a search for it, the file isn't there, as though it's never been downloaded.
    I have tried all the usual stuff, clearing cache etc, even reinstalling FF and done a system restore but nothing makes any difference.
    If there is anything that shouldn't be there on my PC which might be causing this, I can't find it.

    You ''can'' open files from the downloads window (usually), by double clicking on them - I've done it for years!
    But now I get the same result as above whther I do that or right-click; nothing happens. The Downloads window shows that the download completes and so on, but as stated above the file doesn't seem to exist.
    Also, the "Open containing folder" link is greyed out, but if I check that folder by going to it manually the downloaded file isn't there, regardless of what I try to download.
