Download for later install?

trying to figure out how to download the mavericks installer for a later install. everything i've seen says 'install os x mavericks.app' will be in my main applications folder. i don't see it during the download, though, and am really paranoid about not wanting to install it now. where is it while it's downloading? will it appear when done? some articles say the app store will show a 'download' link but all i see is 'upgrade' and 'install'. i definitely do not want to install but, having been shut out in the past when things are no longer available, i do want to have a copy on hand for later use. can someone explain this, please?

thanks for that, carolyn. what i'm really worried about, though, is the install process. i don't want it to start installing. i just want to download and i don't see any way of knowing whether it's installing WHILE it's downloading or if it downloads first, THEN installs. the fact that i can't find the downloading file worries me even more.

The link provided by Pat works but it is tricky. Bascially, to download Acrobat 8 Pro you have to:
1. Go to the link Pat provided -- see http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html. That should take you to the site below.
2. Scroll down the page a little bit and you will come to a section entitled: "Very Important Instructions. The screen will look like the one below. Read the instructions carefully. You have to follow a link in the narrative to the Adobe Acrobat XI download site and you have to click on the "Download Now" bar. This will put a cookie on your computer that will make the link for the Acrobat 8 Pro work. After you click the Acrobat XI download bar do not open the file -- just go back to the page you were on and continue scrolling down.
3. When you scroll down the page a little bit you will come to a screen that has a number of download links (see screen shot below). The Acrobat 8 Pro is the last one. Click on it and you should be able to down load the file and install it on your computer.

Roxio Creator download for clean install?

I have an A58 and have done a clean install of Windows 7. I'm able to download and install almost everything I need except the Roxio Creator Small Business Edition that came pre-installed.
Does anyone know where it is available for download?
I have found the following link which allows you to download, but it is not supported for the A58 only the A62, and when installing it says not supported in A58 environment

Hi,
On your machine you should have a directory called C:\SWTOOLS\APPS (before any upgrade).
That should contain the Roxio version for your machine.

I bought a basically brand new 08 late model aluminum unibody core duo macbook off my boss and everything seams to be on it besides Garageband.

It's on the additional software disc that came with the Mac (along with the original installer disc). You did get the discs with the computer I hope?

Depending upon country that you are in then you might be able to rent films from iTunes, and as long as they have been fully downloaded you should be able to watch them whilst offline. From iTunes they last for 30 days, but once you start watching them you have 48 hours (24 if you are in the US) before they expire - you can watch them as many times as you like during those 24/48 hours

There is no download for any install of Final Cut Pro before version X.
For physical media, try contacting Apple Care support. Otherwise, ebay or alternative resellers is your only recourse for acquiring install discs.

edit: If you want Final Cut Pro 3, you'll need a PowerPC computer that can run OS9. If you mean Final Cut Studio 3 (aka FCS 2009) you'll have better luck finding something out there that will run on contemporary machinery.

Disable anti virus software.
Turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security (or Security & Privacy) > Firewall
If that doesn't help, open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Click Go
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Now here:
~/Library/Preferences
Click Go
Move these files from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
com.apple.appstore.plist
com.apple.storeagent.pllist
Now here:
~/Library/Cookies
Click Go
Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash, try the App Store.

Is it possible to download lion and not install it? (save for later?)

I have just started the download, but after reading the reviews, and knowing that I have microsoft office 2004 which is not compatible, and it will be a while before I can buy the new microsoft packsge, I need to wait to install lion, as I need the microsoft for my school.
Does anyone know if you have to install it right away, or can you keep it for later on?

As someone once said elsewhere: these forums are like hospital emergency rooms. You only see sick people here. Those that are well and not having problems tend not to post "all is fine with me" and such. While there are some legitimate issues with some people's upgrade, we just won't hear from the millions of others whose Lion upgrade went just fine. And some of the "bad press" is people just not liking any of the changes to the way Lion does things. (i.e.: Resume, reversed scrolling.) To some, any change is bad and they immediately don't like it without seeing if new feature is actually is better or not. Which I find ironic since if one really doesn't like change, why would one upgrade in the first place?

I've been working on a script that download for the svn repository e17, compiler and install. I've made this script more as a to lear more about bash script. You can do the same thing as my script with yaourt. I hope someone might need it.

is that script any different from a full build through makepkg/yaourt using AUR's Pkgbuilds?
I tried to use it but i get a list of errors similar to
cp: impossibile creare il file normale `eina-build/eina/.svn/prop-base/NEWS.svn-
base': Permission denied
but if i can use yaourt, why not?
Edit: sorry, i looked at the python source and realized that it actually just syncs abs and then runs makepkg and namcap for each package. so i guess i'll use yaourt instead (or try to understand why makepkg exits with that error)

Hi Jeff. I did purchase Premiere Elements 8 from Adobe (download version), but couldn't find the files to download again on the adobe.com website. I did, however carry out another search of files from my old PC and eventually found the files to reinstall on my new PC, using my registered product serial no. Installation has worked. It seems that Adobe has stopped supporting version 8 as I could only find version 9 and later for download from the adobe.com website.

In App Store, some apps may go on sale (become reduced in price or completely free), and these offers are usually available for limited time. I may want some of these apps but can’t download & install them immediately on my iPad for certain reasons (e.g. lacking strong Wi-Fi coverage or lacking free space on iPad or iPad is out of my reach).
How to purchase these apps from my PC via iTunes, to be added to my account and become available for me to download on iPad later?

Deleting from your computer is not necessary and I would not advise it since again it's wise to have a backup. But otherwise, yes, once you make a purchase from any source, the app should in the future be available for downloading from the Purchased area in the iTunes Store app on your iPad. This presumes of course that the developer of the app has not removed it.
One note:
delete the downloaded app file and this will remove it from my PC (and automatically become removed from my iTunes library)
This is the reverse of the correct procedure. If you really insist on removing the app from your computer, delete it from within iTunes. iTunes will ask if you also want to move the app file to the trash. Deleting the app file manually will not automatically remove it from your iTunes library.

How can I install Dreamweaver CS5.5 using my serial number? I only see the trial download for CS6.

My company bought CS5.5 Creative Suite, and one of my coworkers used our license for Dreamweaver on his computer. Now he has left the company, and I would like to install the license on my computer so I can use it from my station.
When we installed the software on his computer, we simply downloaded the trial version and then entered our serial number. However, now I can only find the download for CS6, and putting my serial number in there for CS5.5 does not magically download that version for me, unfortunately.
Does anyone know how I can install the license on my computer? I thought it would be allowed to have it on two computers, just only one computer would be able to access the software at a time. I just need to figure out how to install it...

I talked to Adobe staff, and apparently I needed to use the Adobe licensing website, licensing.adobe.com. I'll need to talk to my IT department, who bought the software, to get the account information for the site, but I'm on the way to success!

If you use the Apple TV for something else or turn it off it will erase whatever is on it's drive. If you are going to download content for later viewing you might consider doing it on the computer, downloads don't disappear until they expire and you can watch them as many times as you want.

I have win 7 pro and the download for jre 7u10 does not work on Firefox17, I have installed and uninstalled, but works on internet explorer.

I have uninstalled jre7u10, the latest version of java, and re-installed this several times and it will NOT work on Firefox 17. I have checked that the plugins are downloaded in the add-ons tab and made sure they are Enabled. I have tried disabling every plugin I have on the page, but it still will NOT run on FF 17. So, I have uninstalled jre7u10 in windows control panel. I got the jre7u10 download for windows 7 from the actual java website.
I don't know what else to do. I am totally confused as to why it works on Internet explorer but not Firefox 17. It gives me an error message on a chat window on one of my sites that says error client class not found, But I DON'T get this error when I use Internet explorer because the chat window works with it. HELP PLEASE ???????????

I questioned that 64 bit version thing and when I checked the download it sent me to the java version 32 bit for windows 7. The download of jre 32 bit works for my computer on internet explorer but not for firefox 17. I also checked firefox and there is not a 64 bit version browser. so I don't get this at all. anyway, I don't know what a 64 bit vs a 32 bit means but someone asked me to check that too on the site I went to they thought it might be different browser. It's not.

Go to "control panel" then "add or remove programs". Highlight "Apple software update" Choose "change" click "Repair" This should do the trick. Then download and install iTunes 10.5 again.
