Download IDVD for Lion

Hello.
I use macbookpro with lion and i don't have IDVD.
Can i download and install this software on my mac?

If you can't copy the iDVD application and themes folder to the new Mac and get them to run the following will be needed to get an operational iDVD on the Mac:
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com. Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides themes from iDVD 5-7. The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:

You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar. Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

Restart your Mac before trying to download the file.
Do you have anti virus software installed or a program like LIttle Snitch?
If you are using Safari to download files, go to the Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
If that doesn't help, back to the menu bar, click Safari > Reset Safari. Select the top 5 boxes then click Reset.
If you still can't download the Java file, go to ~ / Library / Caches / com.apple.Safari
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash and restart your Mac. Try downloading that file again.
If it still won't download without that dialog, go to ~/Library/Safari. Move the Downloads.plist file from the Safari folder to the Trash.
Try again.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
For Lion: To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

If 7.0.4 ( 7.0.1 - ? ) then use Program Up-date and it will be 7.1.2

• See if Amazon - got any boxed iLife'11 DVDs left (cheque that iDVD is included)

The currently sold version iPhoto 9.6 requires Yosemite. But you could buy an iLIfe '11 installer DVD at Amazon. That will include iPhoto '11. You can update that version using the updaters at Apple's support page.

I have purchased and downloaded Tutor for Lion but I am unable to play the videos

I have been unable to run the App. Tutor for Lion after purchasing form App store. I have the .iap file om y computer under I Tunes, but when I click on purchases my purchase has not been registered.In addition I am unable to verify my Apple ID and Email as I receive a message telling me the name has been used on another computer. I use only one compuetr and the system is up to date with the 7.3 upgrade.
At one time I tried Cloud but decided against using it and deleted the programme from my System preferences, Could there be data left behind after the deletion
Any assitance to help me clear up my mess would be gratefully appreciated

Are you trying to run it on your Mac? Any app downloaded from iTunes will only run on an iOS device such as an iPad or iPhone. If you need to run an app on your Mac, you need to go to the App Store in your Applications folder and purchase the app from there.

Can't download Pages for Lion?

I'm holding back on upgrading to Mountain Lion for a couple of months, as bugs are ironed out, but have decied I can't deal with MS Word anymore, so I want to get hold of Pages.
I've tried downloading it from the app store, but it says the app is only compatible with Mountain Lion. I've searched around for an older version, but can't find one. Anyone got any ideas?

There are no compatability issues I see with CS4 CS5 and hearing none from CS6. All flying along here under Lion.
Just update Lion to 10.7.4 it's a lot easier. That is the requirement for Pages in the App Store. My iWorks was working fine when I moved over to Lion 10.7 and is still working fine.

Where can I download Safari for Lion?

Occasionally Safari beings to crash every time I open it. In the past I have just downloaded Safari and installed over my currently installed version, however, since the release of Mountain Lion (which I can not install due to having a first gen Mac Pro), I am no longer able to find a version of Safari I can install on Lion.

Move this to Safari and let the experts there help you clean up and diagnose your setup, trouble with yoru history and cache, how to launch in safe mode, and maintain your system. And what plug-ins or extensions or other modifications can interfere.
Use Pacifist and the 10.7.4 combo update to do an extract install if it is missing.

Where can I download iDVD for Tiger?

I accidentally damaged and then deleted my copy of iDVD.app. My original installation disks seem not to contain it. Where or how can I obtain a new copy? (My computer is a G4 — PPC — with OS X 10.4.11.)

Thanks very much, Bengt. In fact after posting my question, I had another look at my original eMac instal disks, using Pacifist to extract the individual items, and found iDVD. But when I tried to extract the iDVD files, Pacifist ran for a while and then produced hundreds of error messages, the text of the first one being: 'The file “/private/var/tmp/folders.501/TemporaryItems/Pacifist Temp/475/c8ee2105af3d47b89d1d120e519cbf2a Contents/3262dcc7d3094161a472b7087bf26be3 Contents/bf8fa90c09f04c8eb9b65e0be7b887d1 Contents/./Applications/iDVD.app/Contents/Frameworks/Oxygene.framework/Oxygene” does not exist.' (The others are similar.)
I was unable to get rid of these error messages, however many times I clicked 'Continue'. and could not proceed any further. Could the reason be that when I bought my eMac, the OS on the disks was not Tiger but a much earlier version of OS X 10.x, and, now that I am running 10.4.11, it will not accept the files from the instal CD?
Is there anything I can do about this, short of re-installing my pre-Tiger OS and then updating everything again?

Downloading idvd

I have been a professional mac user for over a decade. I regularly author dvds for clients as part of my workflow. Why you ask? My clients demand dvds for their bosses to preview, their marketing directors to reference and it is ESSENTIAL for my business. I'll refrain from including any foul language here. I'm currently on deadline, my newly updated mac pro tower had both dvd burners fail at once and my new imac 27" does not have idvd. Why? I purchased an external dvd burner for the express purpose of using this machine to author dvds. Please, for the love of God stop making unilateral decisions about your hardware and software without any consultation with your loyal customers. I already had to change from FCP to the Adobe suite because FCP X is a collosal piece of junk even after the upgrades. Were you aware that after the inclusion of the blade tool (like such a tool needs to be "included") every time you use it on your timeline it creates an audio artifact when you export the timeline? The current upgrade crashes virtually EVERY TIME you load it. If this continues my next hardware purchases will be PCs. Please refer me to a link where I might be able to download iDVD for this computer.

You'll need to purchase a copy of iLife 09 or 11 from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: iLife 11. Both will give you iDVD 7, 7.0.3 from 09 and 7.1 from 11.
However If you purchase the iLife 09 disk you'll get all of the themes from iDVD 1 thru 5.
iLife 11 only provides iDVD 5-7 themes.
If you get the iLife 09 disc then the iDVD 7.0.1 updater, which includes iDVD 6-7 themes, can be used to complete the set of themes. If the updater doesn't work on the iLife 09 iDVD 7.0.3 application you can use Pacifist to install those themes from that installer.
