Download issues concerning huge movie files

I have downloaded the Lord of the Rings trilogy in its entirety already, yet every single time I open my iTunes, it automatically downloads it again and again! I don't need it, I have it already. What could I do to stop this?

Hi joshuanjordan,
Please look at your /Library/Fonts folder and make sure that you have Verdana font installed (along with Verdana - "Bold", "Italic" and "Bold Italic"). Also make sure that you do not have duplictaes (or multiple copies) of "Verdana.ttf" installed.
You may also like to look at this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5430420 where a similar problem was resolved.
Please let us know.

  • Every time I try to download a graphic or mov file the browsers quit

I have searched through the forums, I have repaired permissions, rebooted.
Everytime I attempt to download a photo from a webpage (rightclick, save image as), do a save for web in Photoshop, or save a MOV Quicktime movie with Quicktime Pro, the browser (Netscape, Firefox, Camino), or Photoshop, crashes instantly.
Any ideas of what to try next?
    TIA
    2.0 G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Something may have gone awry with one your prefereences.
So try the following, if you like:
    1. If you go to Macintosh HDUsers_YourUserName_LibraryPreferences, y
    2. Move the Preferences folder to your desktop and put the word "old" in front of Preferences.
    3. Log out.
    4. Log in and see if you can now download files.
    5. If you can, then your problem is a preference.
The problem with this approach is that you mess up many of your settings. To minimize the damage, do the following.
    a. Quit everything.
    b. Now take everything in the "Old preferences" folder and place it in the new preference folder that was automatically created to replace it when you logged back in.
    c. You will get a message asking if you wish to overwrite files. Choose NO and Apply to all.
    d. Log out and back in, then test everything.
    e. If you can still download, then one of the files still remaining in the "old preferences" folder caused your issue.
In my case, the offending preference file was named: "com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist"
If you want to find out exactly which file, you will need to do a process of elimination. If you are patient and have time, it is great because discovering the exact cause allows you to fix the probleem much more quickly everytime it occurs. However, you're basically going to be fine from here on out anyways. A few settings for your brower and network printers may be lost, but that isn't too bad since all of that can just be re-done to make it as before.
    Hope this helps.

  • Bridge CC freezes when downloading from CF Card .MOV files

I have had a consistant problem since using Bridge CC.  I insert a CF Card to the ready and Bridge CC downloader automatically comes up.  The CF Card often contains JPG, CR2 and .MOV files.  No conversion or other edits are occuring accept for name change.and copyright meta data.  When the download comes to the Canon  5D Mii .MOV file it freezes and wont proceed.  I in fact have to pull up the Task Manager and stop the application to close it.  I am able to use Explorer to browse and down load all the movie flies, just not through Bridge CC - Any ideas?

The same problem is happening to me when trying to access a shared/network drive...
You mean trying to get .mov files from a network?? Otherwise try starting a new thread for this problem. Also be aware that Adobe officially does not support use for Bridge over a network due to the many set ups that are possible. Some get it to work with great care and understanding, others don't succeed.
Bridge also by default has user based cache libraries and you also should have the correct permissions for the things you try to access.

  • Urgent.  Issue with converted .mov files to avi not working in Premiere.

I am trying to import video files that I have converted from .mov to .avi through OjoSoft Total Video Converter and anytime I try to put a file into the work area, the video goes to Video 1, and Audio goes to Audio 4.  When I try to play it I get no audio, and the video jumps from frame 1 to frame 2.
Does anyone know a good converter or know the best way to convert and what filetypes to do so?  They work converting them as MP4 video files, but I like avi's better.
I have tried converting the .mov to mpeg4 and H.264 (Both with audio as MP3).  They will play in Windows Media Player after convert but not in premiere...
I am running Premiere CS4 on Windows7 with no direct codec packs installed.  I opened a video/audio file that I worked on before with no issues...video/audio run flawlessly in Premiere.
    Please help!

What are the codecs in the original MOV files and what are the codecs after conversion? Use GSpot to identify them.

  • Huge .mov file. Need a DVD

    Hello,
I have a file that I uncompressed in FCP X becasue it was choppy during playback. The result is a 39 Gb monster that I am having trouble getting into a managable size for a DVD. The end goal is to burn a DVD that will be projected. Any thoughts? Thanks!

My thought would be not to use a DVD (although you  might wanr one for back-up). The size of the input file is not relevant; the length (duration) is important for disk authoring, Make an h.264 Quick Time file and run it from your computer to the projector.

  • Issues regarding huge pdf files.

I have a problem. After i export to pdf my indesign file and try to open it it says: "There was an error opening this document. The root object is missing or invalid." and it does this only if the pdf has more than 1GB. The export is made uncompressed because that is the way the typography wants it. And yes the images are big, becaused are tif. What can i do?

The required size and resolution depend entirely on the size the image will be printed, and the printing method. You can check the "Effective Resolution" for the image in either the Links Panel or the Info Panel. That's the one that counts.
For typical offset litho printing, you want something in the range of 300 ppi effective resolution (but as low as 244 will probably be ok with screen frequency of 150 lpi or less). For digital printing my rule of thumb is 180 -200 ppi effective resolution.
These numbers presume the work will be viewed at arm's length or less. For large prints made to be viewed from a longer distance you need less resolution. Are you printing these images at 100% scale?

  • HUGE movie file

My imovie is about 40 minutes long and it says that the size is 25GB which has totally taken over my hard drive...I was wondering if this is a common size for a movie and if not is there a reason mine is so big? Now i also have the problem that i can't burn a DVD because it needs about double the space to burn it and i do not have the space. I was wondering if someone could please help me.

Video production will really challenge the hard drive on a Mac Book. Your best bet is to buy an external firewire hard drive. For best results, get one with AC power, and format it as HFS+ (journaled).

  • Premiere Pro CS6 issues with .MOV files

I am having problems with .MOV files from my Nikon 5100.
They play very choppy.  Multicam REALLY has issues with the .MOV files as it will play ten frames and freeze.  Usually crashing Premiere altogether.
Anyone know how to optimize my system to play these .MOV files so the can be worked with?  I've updated my videocard firmware and Quicktime.

Anyone know how to optimize my system to play these .MOV files so the can be worked with?
The logical steps would probably be:
    Get a better PC
Don't use QuiRcktime but rename the .MOV file to .MPG
Tune your system. Also for Win7: Adobe Forums: Guide for installing and tuning a Vista...

  • IPhoto reads wrong date of .mov file from iPhone 3GS...help!

    Hi all
    Need some help/advice please.
I have a bunch of files I am importing in to iPhoto that were initially downloaded to a windows laptop. I used Graphic Converter (GC) to successfully rotate and align the creation/modified dates so iPhoto reads the correct date. Now GC edits the .jpg and .avi file metadata fine, but wont edit .mov files from my iPhone? So now the iPhone videos are strewn all over the place in iPhoto compared to where they should be date-wise. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?
The .mov files in GC show the correct creation date, but iPhoto reads the actuals file's modified date instead of the internal creation date? So strange?
    Thanks
    Jared

iPhoto gets it's date and time from the Photos Exif metadata, not the file creation or modification dates. It will only use those if your photos have no Exif.
If you subsequently export these files then the created and modification dates a re very likely to change.
You can adjust the date and time rather more easily in iPhoto (Using either the Photos -> Adjust Date and Time and/or the Photos -> Batch Change commands) You can also write the corrected date and time to the Exif of the oriignals files, and export it along with the file in the future.
I'm not sure what's up with the dates on these mov files, but Movies don't have an Exif. You might want to check with the makers of Graphic Coverter for help.
You know that you can move pics and movies around inside iPhoto, right? Drag them from Event to Event?

  • Opening .mov files created in iphoto

I have read a lot of the post on this subject, and I would like to narrow down exactly my issue with importing .mov files.
I have created a slide show in iphoto, I wanted to get it into imovie to add some titles. I am new to Mac so I paid for one to one sessions. I have been to 3 so far concerning video production.
I was told by my traininer to:
    created slide show in iphoto
    share it to iDVD
    import it back into iMovie
Seemed like a very back door way of doing things for an 'intergrated' brand new application, but then again I am new to MAC.
Well.. I tried it but the .mov files are not selectable. Same problem MANY are having.
Being that I started in an Apple / ilife application, I don't think we can blame it on a third party application or hardware.
Is there a solution on how to get my .mov files into imovie?
    Thanks,
    JWB

This all makes sense. My observation is that in iPhoto you have random transitions which is not available in iMovie08. I frequently put together slide shows of over 150 photos and the SAME transition over and over is a bit tidius. Random option is great.
Also, iPhoto has the ability for me to figure about how many songs I want for the number of slides, 'stitch' them together in garage band and then LET iPhoto do the hard work of making the slide's duration match the length of the movie.
I know I can accomplish both right in iMovie, but not nearly as easily.
I guess no such thing as a perfect product.
Thanks again, I'm learning because of you.

  • .Mov files in CC : The File Has no Audio or Video Streams

I recently updated premier to CC , since i have issues iimporting any .mov files at all.
The specific ones Im trying for my current project are exports from AE , rendered lossless animation .mov , worked fine in CS6 , will play in quicktime and other generic's but always getting the The FIle Has no Audio or Video Streams message when trying to import into a project.
Quicktime is updated so I can't understand why the won't play, is this a CC bug ?
i go back to cs6 on my other comp they open fine...
Ive seen a few topics on this none with a resolution and most of those where from cam's, this is an export from AE, anyone able to help this is stopping me from working atm ......

I can verify that Apple screen recordings without audio do not import into any Adobe premeier.
Details on screen recording from Gspot v2.70a:
    H.264
    qt  : Apple QuickTime (.MOV/QT)
    File Type: QuickTime (.MOV)
    Mime Type: video/quicktime
    Len: 1:03.083
    Frms: 1,521
    Qf: 0.153
    Frames/s: 20.000
    wx: 1280 x 800
    sar: 1.600 (8:5)
However Apple (MAC OSX) screen recordings WITH audio will import.
I would think this should be fixable with hotfixes...
If you (adobe staff) have access to macbook pros 2012 or 2013 models, open quick time pro, do a screen recording, make sure no audio is recording, just your screen movements.. then export to 1080p video (mov is only option).. then on a windows PC try to import that file into adobe premiere. The file will play perfectly fine natively in windows with any player so long as a H264 decoder is available on that system... the problem here is Adobe Premiere. Not the users system.
    Edit:
To help those with this issue.. just make sure when you render your mov that you have ANY kind of audio in it.. and just remove the audio track once imported into premiere. I know it's frustrating and you would think something as simple as not having an audio track wouldn't break premiere but alas... we have to work around the shortcomings until they decide to fix it.. just like the VFR issue in premiere.

  • Playing a .mov file on ipad

    Hello,
I cannot open/play a .mov file from my dropbox on my ipad. Message <<file type is not currently supported>>. I made the movie with imovie and it works fine on my computer. I am also capable of using video in the photo center. How come I cannot open it from dropbox? Is there another way to send the video to my ipad and save it there.
    thanks!!!

    Hi loliza,
If you are having issues opening a .mov file directly from Dropbox, you may be able to sync it to your iPad from iTunes. You can also verify that the file plays directly in iTunes, and/or see if it may be necessary to convert/create an iPad-specific version. You may find the following articles helpful:

  • Can't move files - creates alias instead

When I try to move a file/folder elsewhere, it creates and alias instead of moving the file.
Yes, the folder I'm working under is in the Applications directory. I understand that this was something new added to 10.7
The problem is, I'm working with MAMP and my localhost folder (htdocs) is placed by default in Applications/MAMP/htdocs. After developing a site I'm needing to move the files to a new folder on my computer for archives. This seems to work sometimes, but mostly an alias is created.
How do I get around this issue and successfully move files from my htdocs folder?

If you hold the Command key down while moving, it will override the "Make Alias" automation and move the file instead. I don't know of any way to turn this "feature" off permanently, unfortunately, so you will have to hold Command each time you want to move a file of any type out of the Applications folder (or sub-folders).

  • Quicktime will not play .mov files since Lion installation

When using Quicktime 10.6, I am receiving the error message "...file could not be opened. A required codec isn't available." when attempting to open .mov files.  Prior to installing OS X Lion, there were no issues with playing .mov files.

I'm having the same problem. Using a clean install of Mac OS X (10.7) Lion and QuickTime 10.1.
    If I go to finder:
I can click on Icon's Play arrow and the Movie will play in the icon.
I can click on the file icon and press the spacebar and the file will play in QuickLook.
If I doubleclick on the icon to open the file in QuickTime, I get the "...file could not be opened. A required codec isn't available." message.
If I right click on the icon and click open with... QuickTime, I get the "...file could not be opened. A required codec isn't available." message.

  • My Mov. files play sound but no picture on Quicktime Player

Please help - I don't know much about computers - called the apple support line and they weren't very helpful.
    I'm a Mac OS X Version 10.5.8
What do I need to do to play my mov. files? They play on my friends mac but not mine. They were originally edited in final cut pro and saved as mov.
    Help please?

I am having the same issue. My .MOV files wouldn't even open, so I converted the files to the Apple Intermediate Codec using MPEG Streamclip as per the Apple Support Tech's instruction. The file will play now, but with no video. What else do I have to do?
