Download iTunes 10 won't go away

Someone please help! I cannot get this message to go away on my iTunes. I am not able to even access the iTunes store because of the message "Download iTunes 10 Now"

Are there any options like OK, Cancel, Install, Remind Me Later?
Why not simply install the latest version of iTunes?
You can always just kill iTunes using Task Manager and then restart it.

After downloading iTunes,it won't open stating need Internet connection. Have Internet connection but program apparently doesn't recognize it. How can I resolve. This happened on 2 different computers.

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

Just bought a new hp laptop.  Downloaded iTunes. Won't let me play any of my selections. Reads "computer not authorized".  What do I do to make this happen?

    On your Computer... Open iTunes...
and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

  • Download iTunes trailers won't play

    Hi guys,
anyone else having trouble viewing downloaded iTunes Theatrical Trailers? They get the QuickTime icon on them and not the thumbnail, and when it comes to playback, they just show a black image.
    Thanks

Same problem. So far I've had playback problems with one of the Captain Phillips trailer (the one posted in August) and all of The Mortal Instruments. Happening on multiple computers. I think Apple will have to fix this one on their end. Wouldn't hurt to post which trailers were having this problem in case anyone who can fix it reads this thread.

  • Download iTunes, Comp won't Start

I tried to download iTunes about a month ago. After download I resarted my computer and it froze on the "please wait" screen right before I enter my password. I uninstalled iTunes. In the mean time my brother wiped my comp clean and we began from scratch. I tried iTunes again a few weeks ago and my computer froze at the same screen. What can I do to fix this issue? Is there a program that is interferring? I'm lost..obviously.. Thanks

Do you have some sort of virus protection/firewall software installed that may be interferring with the installation of iTunes?
Can you try downloading the iTunes installer program to your desktop, then turning off all virus/firewall/spyware protection and installing?
To download to your desktop, when the installer box opens, instead of choosing "install", choose "save" and then save the program to your desktop. Once the download has completed, close the itunes box. Close any programs running on your computer and then try to install iTunes. (I hope this works for you!)

  • After downloading Itunes, images won't appear and songs won't play

I have an issue that hasn't been fixed since I the itunes update about a month or so ago. All of a sudden, I cannot see any images in itunes nor can i play any music at all either in my playlist or from the music store. i tried to contact customer support, but they were not able to help me. i've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes and that hasn't helped. can anyone help me with this issue so i can continue using my itunes? thanks.

those symptoms (arriving together like that) usually indicate a broken QuickTime. (itunes needs a fully functional QT in order to work properly.)
the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes behave properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • Can download iTunes, but won't install

I get the following error in the iTunes + QuickTime box:
The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.
I've read so many articles and have been trying to fix this problem for months now. Please help.

Why won't it install?  Are there any errors?
We are not mind readers, if help is desired it is up to the user to provide useful details.
Also, hopefully the media on the computer and other important data was backed up.  Reinstalling iTunes does not cause that content to magically re-appear.

  • Downloading iTunes music when I am away

    Hi,

    Thanks

Just did. Is this known to resolve the issue?

  • Downloaded iTunes - now won't load my purchaed music onto ipod!!!

Very odd and frustrating - just downloaded the new iTunes 6 and now my iTunes will not allow my purchased music to be placed onto my ipod! Indeed, rather than update my ipod it has taken all the purchased music off my iPod!!
What kind of backwards update is this?
When I press the "update ipod" button I get a message that my ipod software is too old to update all the music and it directs me to www.apple.com/ipod - but I've downloaded the new software (I'm running Version 2.2) and the problem persists.
Grrr....wish I had just left it alone as it was fine before - i guess this is apple's way of forcing me to shell out more money and upgrade my 10.2.8 operating system...
    Very Disgruntling,

Note that you have to actually run the update - where you get the window where you have the choices to "Update" or "Restore" your iPod (you'll of course want to "Update"). It sounds to me like you downloaded the updater but did not actually run it to update your iPod.
    Hope this helps.

  • My iPod's screen says "Connect to iTunes" and when I connect it to iTunes it's telling me to restore, but I don't want to restore/lose everything on it. The "Connect to iTunes" message won't go away.

When I plugged my iPod into my macbook, a window for an iPod Touch software update popped up, so I clicked update, then it said that my iPod was over capacity or something similar to that, so basically I didn't have enough room for the update, which I thought was fine. So then once I unplugged my iPod, I was unable to use it. The screen was telling me to connect to iTunes (how it does when you first purchase an iPod, and turn it on for the first time.) So, I then connected it to iTunes and it told me I had to restore my iPod, it gave me no option other than to click "restore" But I don't want to lose everything that's on my iPod...but now I can't use it because the screen is still telling me to connect to itunes. How do I get out of restoring it?

If you have a graphic of iTunes and a cable displayed on your iDevice then it is in Recovery mode.
Check this to try an "exit"

  • ITunes Account Won't Go Away

I gave my old Windows XP laptop to my son. I had an iTunes account on the laptop. I deauthorized the laptop and then uninstalled ITunes. My son reinstalled iTunes on that laptop so he could sync with his account and my music continues to appear in iTunes on that laptop. How can he start with a blank iTunes?

Did you copy the /Music/iTunes/ folder to your computer?
    This is your entire library.
If you have copied it (or if you don't care), quit iTunes.
    Delete /Music/iTunes/ folder.
Launch iTunes to create a new, empty library.

  • Can't update software, iTunes songs won't transfer

I have an older docked iPod (2nd gen, I think). It is running iPod software 2.2. I updated iTunes to the latest version and now my recently downloaded iTunes songs won't transfer to the iPod. I get an error message saying my iPod software is outdated. But I can't get the latest iPod update software to load. I've downloaded it twice now. When I go through the installation program, it shows me the possible destination volumes for the software -- either my iPod or my hard drive. The iPod has a red X next to it, with an error message saying the software can't be installed on a volume that doesn't have OS X 2.8 or higher on it (my Mac is running OS X 10.3.9). If I try to install the iPod software on the hard drive, everything is grayed out and says disabled. I don't know what to do next. How do I update the software so I can transfer my new playlists? Should I downgrade iTunes back to its previous version (if this is even possible?)? Help! Thanks!!

  • Re-downloading iTunes purchases once deleted from your hard drive

OK - any help will be greatly appreciated.
I work abroad a lot and download iTunes purchases to watch while away.  However, the files take up a lot of space on my MacBook Air, so, once watched, I've deleted them from my hard drive to free up space once I'm home.
Now, when I want to see them again, I go into iTunes, each episode has an exclamation point on the left hand side, no cloud icon to be seen, and when I click on it, I get the message:
The TV show could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?
It can't be located on my computer because I deleted it from my hard drive to free up space.
So why can't I just re-download it from iTunes - I have, after all, paid for it?
    Many thanks.

    Good day Jane,
As you surmise, the exclamation point symbol next to the song in iTunes means that iTunes can not find the file containing the video. See this article -
iTunes 12 for Mac: Symbols used in iTunes
In order to download the content again you will need to delete it from iTunes before downloading again. To delete the song select it in your music and use the Delete key. See this article -
iTunes 12 for Mac: Delete songs, playlists, or other items
Once the video is no longer in your iTunes library, you can download it again using the steps in this article. Note that this assumes that the item is still available in iTunes in your location. Items that have been removed from the store will not be available -
iTunes 12 for Mac: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Safe computing,
    Brett L
