Download LabVIEW Code to NXT Module

HI
I want to know how to download a *.vi file to my NXT Lego Mindstorm Robot. I,ve tried to make a simple VI and it doesn't give me any errors but I can't find it on my NXT.
Can someone take a look?

Hi Klump The solution for your problem is very easy!  you only have to do this:
1.  Open the LabVIEW VI you want to run on the NXT.
2. Launch the NXT Terminal by selecting Tools»NXT Module»NXT Terminal. The VIs you currently have open automatically appear in the PC VI Files listbox.
3. To connect the NXT Terminal to an NXT device, use one of the following options:
• Plug in an NXT through USB and it will automatically connect.
• Click the Find NXT button and choose an NXT connected through USB or scan for available NXTs using Bluetooth.
4. After you connect the NXT Terminal to an NXT device, select the VI you want to run from the PC VI Files listbox, and use one of the following options.
and that's all !!!!!  click in download and enjoy your program
I don't know if you heve been tried to do this before but I have one problem with this.  when I download a program to the NXT the time is 5-8 minutes, I don't know what happend can anyone Help ME?

  • Difference​s between LabVIEW Education Edition and LabVIEW 2009 + NXT Module

    Recently saw the announcement regarding LabVIEW Education Edition.
    From the information available at this time it's hard to tell the difference between this product and just adding the NXT module to standard LabVIEW 2009 if your only interest in LabVIEW is for NXT  programming.  Anymore details about this new product would be appreciated as well as info on how it's different from the alternative.  Are there some unique VIs not present in the standard NXT module?  Obviously the pricing is very different, but for a student the academic version of LabVIEW is actually lower cost than this new Education Edition.

    LabVIEW Education Edition (LVEE) includes the NXT Module and the API to interface with Vernier products.    LVEE is geared towards middle school and high school classrooms to get students interested in math and science.  It includes curriculum for teachers that may not be familiar with programming and LabVIEW in general to use the NXT bricks and the LabVIEW environment. 
    LabVIEW with the NXT module only has the NXT API and not the Vernier API.  It will not include the course work and as extensive example programming useful for teaching. 
    For additional information on LVEE, please take a look at the Getting Started with LabVIEW Education Edition or go to ni.com and search for “labview education edition”.

  • Need assistance installing MindStorm NXT module on my desktop with Win XP and also my laptop which runs Win 7, software does not want to install?

    I need assistance to install LabView MindStorm NXT module in a Desktop system with Win XP and a Laptop with Win7. Both are 32 bit with all service packs applied. I purchased the academic version from a company called On-The-Hub.

    Thats really strange because the NXT Module 2010 and the NXT Module 2011 are free and don't require serial numbers. Where did you obtain the installer? The core LabVIEW installer requires a serial number but if you already have that installed, the NXT Module is just a free addon. Here are the links to the module for LabVIEW 2010 & 2011

    Nice! But I guess that doesn't mean that you will be releasing a free version any time soon... does it. 
    Oh! BTW (slightly off topic) you should remove the "Select Your Operating System" block on the Student edition cd order form. It just gets peoples hopes up that they might get a mac version.

  • The time of download using the toolkit NXT for labview is about 5 - 8 minutes !!!

    I created a VI using the "LabVIEW_Toolkit_for_LMS_NXT_Getting_Started_Guide​" then I downloaded this to the NXT such as the Guied said but te time of download is  5 - 8 minutes.  then I did another program a litle bit more big and it never get dowloaded. It stoped when It was compiling...
    can you anybody help me?

    In the installation instructions for the NXT Toolkit, it tells you to mass compile the toolkit and it tells you exactly how to do this. This is an essential step.  We provide the toolkit in LabVIEW version 7.1 format. If you use the toolkit in a later version such as 8.5, LabVIEW will load the toolkit and compile it on the fly. This leaves a lot of stuff in memory that will dramatically (and I mean dramatically) slow down the compile phase of the toolkit. 
    From the installation notes:
    To run the toolkit efficiently, you must mass compile the toolkit
    VIs in the version of LabVIEW in which you install the toolkit.
    Complete the following steps to mass compile the LabVIEW Toolkit for
    LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT.
    Launch the version of LabVIEW in which you installed the toolkit.
    Select Tools»Advanced»Mass Compile.
    Browse to the labVIEW\vi.lib\addons\NXTToolkit folder and select Current Directory (LabVIEW 8.x) or Curr Dir (LabVIEW 7.1).
    Select Mass Compile to begin the mass compile process.

  • LabView code module to perform simple pass/fail *IDN? query?

    LabView 7.1, TestStand 3.1, NI PCIGPIB board controlling a communications service monitor and a power supply. I'm having problems with my application sync correctly between the service monitor and GPIB board. I suspect the driver. Does anyone have a simple LabView code module to perform a *IDN? with a partial (in case they change firmware versions)string comparison that I can use in a TestStand seq. At this point if failure I could pop-up and tell operator to abort test and reboot instrument. (only way I've found to clear the buffer). Note: At times this app works fine and is inconsistant in failure times/rates.

    I've found I can perform a *IDN? using the Instrument I/O Assistant.vi. Ive placed this on a new block diagram and am changing it as I need. I've found in this particular case the *IDN? yields 3 tokens one of which I can use to perform a string comparison on. This will give me a boolean which I can wire to the pane for use by TestStand.

    If you have labview package, you can find lot of examples there.
    Start Labview -> Help Menu -> Find Examples-> Hardware input and output -> DAQ -> Here you either you can go to analog input -> then general -> search vi as per your requirement.
    Or you can use timer/counter/digital input & output example vi from here.

    (1) The example browser that ships with LabVIEW.
    (2) The Example Code Library right here at NI.com.

    LabVIEW 2014 should be compatible with the 9068 and the cRIO 2.1 drivers.  I verified it should work as expected earlier today.  Please make sure you are using the example cRIO PN-IO Device when you are moving the module over to the new target.  If you are already accessing that, please navigate to this folder:
    <Program Files>\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\Targets\NI\FPGA\cRIO\other
    Please let me know if you see a CS_cRIO-PNAD folder. This folder provides all the files necessary to discover and use the module in the project.  If we do not have that folder there, we will be unable to locate the module.  If that is indeed the case, then it may be the driver did not install correctly.  
    If after finding this folder and it is still not working, please send me screenshots of the error that you are seeing and a MAX Technical Report.  Thanks!

    Well my acquisition code runs perfect. The problem is reading it. I can't seem to read my data no matter what I do. My data gets saved as a string using the array to string vi but I've read that the string to array vi (which I need to convert back to array to read my data) does not work on the pda. I'm using version 8.0. So I was trying to modify the program posted in this discussion so that it would save data from my DAQ. I did that but I still can't read the data after its saved. I really don't know what else to do. All I need to do is read the data on the pda itself. I can't understand why I'm having such a hard time doing that. I found a possible solution on another discussion that talks about parsing the strings because of the bug in the "string to array" vi. However, that lead me to another problem because for some reason, the array indicators or graphs don't function on the pda. When i build the program to the pda or emulator, the array indicators are faded out on the front panel as if the function is not valid. Does this kind of help give a better picture of what I'm trying to do. Simply read data back. Thanks.

  • Need help with Labview code for DAQmx

    I'm currently trying to write Labview code for some thesis research and am having problems.  I'm using the cDAQ 9172 with strain gage modules and two voltage input modules.  I'll be reading/recording a voltage from an external source on one channel, while recording strains and accelerations with the other channels.  I need to do all this simultaneously.
    Everything I've done to this point has been in SignalExpress so I'm not sure how to program any of this.  I also need to be able to calibrate the strain gages prior to each set of recordings.  Any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

    I'm not sure how much this will help you, but I've attached a screen dump of code from a project I did that sounds pretty similar to what you're working on. The code is from a subVI that I used to create the daqMX measurement task for my data acquisition. I was also using a 9172. This was written in 8.5, but the only thing that you may not have access to is the functions for null offset and shunt cal of the strain gage channels. Hopefully this will at least get you started on your way to setting this up.

  • How to use the "Clear PDA Chart .vi" in LabVIEW 7.1 PDA module?

    In my iPAQ application, I try to use the LabVIEW 7.1 PDA module's "Clear PDA Chart .vi" to clear the graph. But I do not know how to do it. I always get error when I call it.
    My code is attached. The code is to draw a sin wave and then clear it.

    Hi,
    I verified the behavior that you reported. I got error code 260055065 on running the VI. It does not matter if you wire a control ref or tabbing order number to the Clear PDA Chart.vi.
    This is a known bug and LabVIEW PDA developers are already working on it. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next release of the PDA module. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

  • Mindstorm nxt module programing guide trouble

    hi there,
    I have some trouble with the 'Labview mindstorms NXT Module programming guide'.
    I develop an application on labview 2009 and i want to acces some properties like 'Overload and ActualSpeed' but i don't found anywhere in this guide how to acces to those propertie. btw i try to use some module in the toolkit like 'set output state' and 'get output state' in the NXT Direct I/O section but those properties are unable to found. When i open the vi called by those module, i see they called vi named 'Fantom'. All those vi are in driver folder. i try to search some help about this drivers but i find nothing.

    The
    properties i want to access is in use with the NXTInput and NXTOutput refnum.
    I find how
    to access to this refnum and how to see the propertie i want with the propertie
    node in the Application Control palette.
    But now i
    don't know how to use this refnum and the propertie node with the other objet
    of the toolkit
    To be more
    precise i want to create an object like those existant in NXT Direct I/O
    palette, so i don't know how to create an ‘NXT Object’ or to scan, detect The
    NXT Brick and create an nxt object like they do the object ‘FIND NXT’ and ‘CREATE
    NXT OBJECT’ to implement the flow.
    If i can do that, i'll really can create an object I can use
    with the toolkit.
    If you have
    a solution or an exemple for me it’ll be fine because I find nothing.
