Download Mac App Store application

I was just recently given a "new" MacBook Pro for work, the operating system on it was very old!
I was able to load Snow Leopard tonight with an installation disc, however to load Lion & Mountain on it (I bought both) I need the App Store
Can I get the App Store application installed somehow?

If you installed Snow Leopard, note that you have installed Mac OS X 10.6.3, and Mac App Store needs Mac OS X 10.6.6 or later.
To update to the most recent Snow Leopard version and get the Mac App Store, open  > Software Update, and install all available updates, including Mac OS X 10.6.8. After restarting, you will find the App Store icon in the Dock, so open it and purchase OS X Mountain Lion.

Unable to download Mac App Store

I downloaded it once, but then my Mac started hanging so I trashed it. Now when I click software update, it says my software is up to date. Is there another way to download Mac App Store...is it even worth it to try? It seems a lot of people are having problems with it.

You don't update from 10.6.3 by using the App Store. You use Software Update for that. Then after using Software Update to get to 10.6.8, you'll have the latest version of the App Store.
I don't see how this issue relates to your iPad.

You are on Snow Leopard, so what you are looking for is either Lion or Mountain Lion?

If you want Lion, you will need to call Apple and order it by phone; they will send a redemption code via email so you can download it. If you want Mountain Lion, you can buy it from the Mac App Store (in your Applications folder and in the dock) and download it after purchasing it.

It takes a full minute and a half for the Mac App Store Application to load on my iMac. How can I fix this. No other applications launch so slowly.

Whenever I click on the Mac App Store icon in my dock, I get the spinning wheel for a minute and a half. It then loads. While in the App Store application, it takes a minute and a half to switch from "featured" to "top charts" for example. Nothing else on my 24" iMac takes that long to load. Drag the App Store app from the Applications folder to the Trash. Drag the App Store icon off the Dock. It should go "poof"..
Download and install the v10.6.7 combo update.

That should re install the Mac App Store for you. It's ok to do this even if you are already running v10.6.7
If the combo did not re install the MAS for you use Pacifist to extract the MAS from the v 10.6.7 .dmg folder.

You had to have access to the App Store in order to download Lion.
Click your Apple icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click App Store.
Or, click the App Store icon in your Dock.
Or launch the App Store from your Applications folder.

Cant download Mac App Store

Hi there,
I have recently updated my version of Snow Leopard, but realised that the Lion has just been released. I want to downlaod/purchase Lion, which can only be done through Mac App Store by the looks of it. For some reason I do not have Mac App Store (despite having just updated my version og Snow Leopard) and I can't download it from macupdate either?
What could the problem be and how do I go about resolving it?

If it isn't in your dock, it should be in the Apple menu.
If it isn't there, maybe Spotlight can find it - Cmd + Space, or click the magnifying glass at the top right of your screen, and start typing "app"

You cannot access the Mac App Store on 10.6.8. You would need to upgrade your Mac to Snow Leopard, provided that it meets the technical requirements (the most important of which is that you must have an Intel Mac). Snow Leopard is available from the Online Store,, and you should then apply the 'combo updater' to bring it to 10.6.8, at which point the App Store will appear in Applications.

Update available but can't download mac app store

Mac app store says i got an update, but when i click the updates tab, says all software is up to date.
Xcode was updated not so long ago and i could never run the update, so i think that is the update it says i have.
I need that update for better stability and work better with my projects, and can't update because of this issue.
BTW my connection is too slow to download the whole xcode again. what do i do?

10.5.8 is Leopard, no Appstore.
10.6.6-8 is Snow Leopard, that's what you need.
10.7... is Lion (also Appstore ofcourse), but this OS is different. Why not upgrade to Snow Leopard first, and then decide later if you will (and can) go to Lion?
