Download Mainstage 2?

I have a computer that runs 10.7.4 and can't upgrade to Mavericks because it is pre 2007. Is there anywhere I can download Mainstage 2 safely?

If you bought it in the past, you can simply re-download it in the Mac App Store. If you never bought MainStage 2, then – no – it is no longer available for sale.

Wow... people need to learn to get back to you lol. You do not need to use 64-bit because it is really only useful for opening more than 4Gb RAM. you only have 4 so it would not benifit you. If you wanted to try to open it as 64-bit tho (Not Going To Help), just close the program, go to your Applications folder in finder, right click on Mainstage and go to "Get Info", under the General tab you will see a check box to open in 32-bit or not. uncheck the box to open in 64-bit mode. But like I said, it will not help you:/

I just downloaded Mainstage, I'm having trouble using it, because it won't open, can someone help me out?

Yu have to run the library upgrader - it is in your applications folder in the utilities folder - double click on it to exceute it - then launch iPhoto after running the library upgrader

How do I find audio files missing from Mainstage?

Having downloaded mainstage additional content I find a number of wave files are missing. Example Exs24 'Full Strings Legato.exs' audio file KB-L_legato_p_A(hash)1.wav. How can I find and download them?

I've downloaded it twice already. You can't download what is not there.

How do I uninstall all loops and samples in Mainstage?

I'm using Mainstage 2 on my MacBook Air. I don't use garage band and I don't use any of the samples or loops that came with it. Y'all might think I'm crazy for wanting to delete all that, but it's just that my hard drive real estate is quite limited. I know it's pretty amazing stuff, but I don't use it and the space is more valuable to me.
I love Mainstage just as a controller interface. I use it with our worship band. I don't use any of the amp sims that came with it, cuz I use S-Gear, which I like a lot better. I really use it just to set up my rig. I don't use anything other than my amp sims with it (I also have Guitar Rig and Amplitube Fender).
So, I found some helpful info on locating the folders that contain the samples:

I do have several questions, before I proceed:
1. When I downloaded Mainstage, it was something like 30 GB. Yikes. Most of that, it is my understanding, was samples and loops. From research on this forum, I'm gathering that the above files should have about 15 GB of "stuff." When I look in my folders, it's only about 3 GB. Am I missing something? I want to get all of this stuff.
2. Will Mainstage still run alright with all of that gone? I don't want to create instability or hangs or crashes, etc.
3. ALSO, I don't use Garage Band at all. If I delete that, will it introduce any instability with Mainstage? I know they share a lot of the same files. I "think" it should be fine, but I don't want to assume.
I LOVE Mainstage. It would have been a steal without all the sample libraries and loops. I know people will think I'm some kind of a nut for deleting that stuff, but what can I say?

You may be experiencing delays if your external drive is a USB. I tried this for a bit and quickly switched to a "fast" firewire drive.

How do I Download Additional Content

Hi...I've got a MacBook Pro running OS X Mountain Lion fully patched and updated. I'm not usually a Mac user but I'm fairly comfortable with it when I do...I know enough to be a Power User. I purchased/downloaded Mainstage 3 today. It prompted me after the install to Download Additional Content but I had to restart due to some other updates I was running so I just figured I'd be able to do it when I was finished with the restart.
Now, when Mainstage is open, I go to the MainStage 3 menu and the option for Download Additional Content is grayed out. Why is that. What am I missing. I figure I'm just missing something easy. I've perused the various support forums and manuals and haven't figured out why. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I would recomend removing (Deleting) Mainstage and re-install from the App store, keep in mind the initial install is about 2-3 GB download, and then the additional content is about 30 GB.
To remove a Mac App Store app that appears in Launchpad
Follow these steps while you are logged in with an administrator account:
Enter Launchpad.
Click and hold on an icon until you see all icons jiggle.
Click the "x" button in the upper-left of the Mac App Store app icon you want to delete.
Note: If you do not see an "x" button, either the app is not from the Mac App Store or you are logged in as a standard user.
Click "Delete" in the confirmation dialog to delete the app.
Tip: If you want to reinstall a deleted app, open Mac App Store, click the Purchases icon, then click on the "Install" button for the app.

Where can I get an older version of Mainstage?

I am a worship leader and would like to use Mainstage to run loops and backing tracks during a live setting. My MacBook is a 2006 A1811 with a core 2 duo processor, running 10.6.8 . It can not download Mainstage 3, where can I get an older version? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Older versions of MainStage are no longer available for sale. The _only_ way might be buying a used Logic Studio 2 box which contains MainStage 2.1.3. Quite a pricy endevour for an almost 3 year old application.

MainStage 2.2.1 - CPU issues with old MacBook

I just downloaded MainStage 2 for my trusty old MacBook - it's 2.0GHz Core Duo, 2GB... best spec you can make it really.
I use it to run both Ableton Live and Garageband with absolutely no problems... The CPU handles both apps fine, unless I have some stuff running in the background. But most of the time the CPU hovers around 50%.
So I was quite surprised when I downloaded MainStage 2 and started using it... The CPU is pretty constant at about 100%. Sometimes it goes up as far as 150%. And this is when idle! Although I don't have much memory, MainStage is not taking up a huge amount (about 350MB) and I still have some headroom left... So I'm assuming that isn't the issue.
I've looked at other threads and one solution was to up the audio buffer time in the preferences. Mine was already set to 256 samples, but I tried higher and it didn't make any difference. Can anyone help? I bought it for live performance, but considering how dodgy it's looking with the CPU, I'm a little worried about doing so.

I appreciate that I'm "playing with the big boys now" and that my hardware is pretty old... However I was just really confused as to why it was this bad... Garageband handles playing a piano patch with ease, whereas MainStage, set up to do exactly the same task, runs my CPU at full pelt even when no sounds are being played!
I've seen others mention CPU spikes too, where the sound cuts out, which isn't good for a live performance obviously... And these people are on machines with much better specs than mine. Using up 100% CPU for a task such as this does make me wonder whether there is some seriously unoptimised code in MS... Ableton Live is pretty professional and copes way better.
As to your points:
My MacBook's maximum official RAM upgrade is 2GB, so mine is maxed-out in that respect. Apparently it can access up to 2.5GB, but the only way of doing that is by buying 4GB RAM and effectively wasting 1.5GB of it. But I take your point, and perhaps it's worth the money for that extra half a gig. What do you think?
I will try the 0dB limiting as you suggested, but I don't think I was ever playing up to those volume levels. Obviously when I'm not playing anything, there is no sound level at all and yet still the CPU is blazing away around 100%.
What do you mean by little icons in the menu bar? Are you referring to my OS menu bar items? I do have iStat Menus installed which is very handy for noticing these CPU issues but I will disable them all and see if it makes a difference.
I have the two default effects running through the buses (I don't know all the terminology yet because I'm very new to it!). I don't really need both, but I do need at least reverb or it'll defeat the object of me using MS. I'll try cutting back and see what happens.

I am running a OS 10.7.5 and can do no further upgrades to my Macbook that was purchased in 2008. Is there anywhere that I can download Mainstage 2?

You can only buy MainStage 2.1 via the Logic Studio box. Applications like MainStage 2.2, which only sold through the Mac App Store can't be resold.

Gradual Choppy Audio Failure in Mainstage

Hi, today I purchased and downloaded Mainstage 2.2.2 for my Macbook Pro (Early 2011, 8GB Ram). I also have a similar issue with Mainstage 2.0 on my 2009 iMac, I hoped the problem would've been solved with the new version, but the exact same one exists.
I use a Presonus FIrestudo Mobile for MIDI and Audio hookup in Mainstage 2 via Firewire. The MIDI works perfectly with my keyboard. When I plug in guitar orvarious keyboards for audio however, they work great for about 30 seconds, then they start introducing static noises along with distortion as if the CPU is overloading, but the CPU meter is fine.
I've tried everything so far, the buffer size, toggling I/O latency settings, updating my driver, switching the soundcard settings, firewire cables etc. The strange thing is, whenever I change a setting on my soundcard or in Mainstage, the problem goes away completely for about 30-45 seconds, and then comes back. Its very upsetting.
ANOTHER strange thing is that I use the same setup for recording in Logic, and I've had this exact same problem in the past, but then I switchedd Plug-In Latency in audio prefrences to 'Off' and the problem vanished permenantly. This leads me to believe there is a similar problem with Mainstage 2 software, but there is no Plug-In Latency setting in Mainstage 2 at all, so I can't switch it to off and fix this like I did in Logic.
If anyone has ANY idea how to do this or anything I haven't tried yet that would be amazing. It's very disheating that this strange problem is happening to me and is preventing me from using this almost perfect piece of software, but I cannot perform with the audio distorting 30 seconds after I change a setting. FIXED: I see people are still coming here so I should share something that might help. Well, it wasn't exactly a fix as much as I found a workaround, but it's been working perfectly ever since I've done this.
• Go to utlilities > audio MIDI setup.
• Then, go to the plus in the bottom left corner and "create agregate device".
• Now you'll have a new agregate device in the left window. Click on it. In the right side of the window you should see all audio devices that are available in there. Find the interface you want to use that's causing you trouble in there, and click the check box next to it.
• You can right click on the device title it to change it's name. Now basically what you've done is created a new virtual audio device that takes the interface you want to use as an input and outputs it through itself. You can now select it from any program you want uner the audio inputs options and it should work fine. I don't know why this works but it's been working perfectly for me ever since. Hope this helps anyone!

How to re-install Mainstage purchased from the App Store onto new drive

I recently purchased Mainstage 2.2.1 from the App Store. It automatically downloaded and installed the app onto my drive (not giving me a physical installer dmg, I guess this is normal). My system was slow so I decided to buy an SSD drive and install it in place of the Superdrive as a dedicated music drive. After installing Lion and booting from this new drive I went to the App store assuming I could simply re-install the app but there is no option for that. Does anyone know how I can do this?

Just just launch the Mac App Store, select the "Purchased" tab and download MainStage or any other application you already bought.

App Store Mainstage affected Logic Express 8

I downloaded Mainstage a few weeks ago and am very pleased with the purchase and it is working fine.
However I already owned logic 8 express, which has changed since the installation of mainstage. The presets have changed to suit mainstage's, taking many of my favourite presets away. This would be fine, except most of the presets now utilise Spacedesigner, which logic 8 express does not have. Each time I select one of these instruments/presets I get the error message Logic Express: Plug-in “SpaceDsn” not available!. It completely disrupts the creative flow and it is hard to tell which settings I can use and which I can't use.
Selecting Guitars is equally difficult. Most of the Main stage presets use pedalboard, which logic 8 express does not have.
Is there a way to tell logic the location of space designer? in the mainstage folder perhaps?

There is no way to get the missing effects and instruments into in older version of Logic or GarageBand. They are part of the application code.

When I set up a channel strip in MainStage (MS) v2.2.2, it comes up as a channel strip which uses the EXS24 sampler, which is one of the virtual instruments that comes as part of the basic MS package, to my recollection. A little more digging reveals that the Blue Carpet channel strip uses the 05 Synthesizers | 02 Synth Pads | Softpad 1 patch for the EXS24 then adds in compression, EQ, etc. as effects. I would think that you can go to the MainStage menu at the top of the screen and select Download Additional Content then select the Logic Pro & MainStage Essential Content item, or perhaps the next one -- Logic Pro & MainStage Additional Content. This might overwrite stuff you want to keep! In lieu of that, I could send you the patch file Softpad 1.exs and the channel strip file Blue Carpet.cst and you could copy them manually to the proper locations.
I was under the impression that you accidently deleted the patch/channel strip. Upon reading again your post, I guess I spent too much time digging! Download the essential content first and check. If not there, get the additional content.

How do I purchase mainstage as a new user with a new mac book pro

I have a new mac book pro which I purchased with the intention of aquiring MainStage. I keep being directed to MainStage 2 for £21.00 which seems very cheap and I suspect is an upgrade to MainStage v1 (if there is such a thing). Where should I start in getting this software - the app store I assume?
I have successfully paid for and downloaded Mainstage 2, this then went on to attempt to download 2GB of Basic Content, however, after 2 hrs of downloading it informed me 'download failed', againI suspect as I have only downloaded the update as opposed to the full program. Any ideas/guidance out there?

Yes you were quite right. That has got to be the purchase of the century. Bearing in mind back in 1989-90 I purchased 2 Roland Modules - a D110 and a U110, they cost me £450 each! Plus £150 for a 'shock-proof' double skinned rack, £150 for 16 channel line mixer and finally £350 for an Alesis Quadra-verb unit.
You might be able to help me with a further question now it's all up and running - some of the voicings in the folders in the instrument libraries appear to be empty - is this extra content that we have to purchase or is it simply that my macbook has yet to download the remaining content?
Any guidance would be very helpful.
And yes, I'm loving MainStage already.

How to launch MainStage

In another thread leonieDF explained to maaten how to get more instruments into GB using MainStage. I know I have the JamPacks but would like see if there's more .
I've never fooled with MainStage and feel pretty simple minded. I can't seem to get it to lauch . How do I do it ?

What is your Main Stage version? I have MainSTage 2 - did you just download MainStage 3? Then I cannot help with that.
I never actually used MainStage 2 for anything, I just bought it as JamPack installer.
To get started,
click the MainStage icon in the Dock or Applications folder.
Then go to the main application menu: MainStage > Download additional content and select to install all uninstalled:
To actually use MainStage, connect a guitar, keyboard, or microphone and click the QuickStart tab.
