Download music error

I am unable to download two songs on my iPad.  Every time I try to redownload a message comes up stating "download error please try again later". I don't know why because I was able to download songs earlier. Please give me feedback.

  • Can't Download Music error -50

Sorry if this has been posted already but i couldn't find anything relevant. When I go to download music I purchased today I get the message
"There was a problem downloading [name of song]. An unknown error has occured {-50).
Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again."
I used to have no problems downloading music. Anyone else having this problem and does anyone know a fix?

I know this is stupid but...
try closing and reopening iTunes (including restarting the machine)....
Some history: the -50 error has been around for a very long time - both Mac and Windows... it "seems" that its a communications error with the store that drives everyone crazy as the error is non-intuitive and cryptic.
It seems that in most cases, everyone has a solution that "eventually" works. It appears on both Mac and Windows. Solutions exist on the Mac that can't be applied on Windows, yet they still work.... and visa versa.
Which makes me think this: what's the common thread here? The Music Store, and network and Apple. I think the store is having issues at that moment, with you and possibly others - many others and TIME seems to resolve it. While you and everyone else are trying their magic "fixes," the Store resolves itself and everyone thinks that what they did was the magic fix.
Recommendation: wait a day or so and see if it "resolves" itself. If not, goto the help menu and email Apple. I bet the problem will disappear on you.
Otherwise I have absoluetely no idea what I'm talking about. :P

  • HT201413 I do not have an apple product, but I do have Itunes on my computer, and it will not let me play my downloaded music-error message computer needs registered, and it is.  Can you help me?

I have had iTunes on my computer, which is not an apple poducts for about 6 or 7yrs now, just recently it will not let me play the music I have downloaded.  I get a error message stating this computer is not registered.  So I put in the information to register it, and it tells me that this computer is already registered.  But I still can't play my music, the error message just keeps popping up.  Can anyone help me?

Check the information on the song, Right-Click -> Get Info.
In the fist pane, (Summary), you will see the AppleId (Account Name) that was used to buy the song.
Be sure to login to use this account to register this computer to play the song
What I often see, Is that people have many different AppleID, sometime not even knowing it, which is a big problem.

  • Unable to download music - error message reads "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (wmms) isn't associated with any program."

I purchased a song to download from Walmart.com and received the error message when I tried to download the song; "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (wmms) isn't associated with any program." I've never had a problem before. I paid for this download & I can't even access it.

Does the Walmart site offer a plugin or program (Walmart MP3 Music Downloads) to handle that protocol?<br />
    See:

On Windows a protocol need to be registered by a program that supports that protocol.

  • Can't download music - error 3259

I can't download the album I purchased. It keeps saying the network connection timed out. It is not my connection or firewall. I never had any trouble until I downloaded the newest version of iTunes. I uninstalled and reinstalled it. I have tried downloading single songs...HELP! This is driving me crazy!!!

I use itunes all the time, I know how to download and transfer. I own video ipod 80, and I just bought an ipod shuffle. Since I bought the shuffle, itunes will not transfer all my purchases. i.e. my last order contained 43 downloads, it only transferred one song and one video from what I bought. The rest keep popping up error 3259 - and "network connection timed out"... I have done everything your site has suggested. And it has been two days now, and this is not acceptable. I want what I paid for. This has never happened before until I got the shuffle. I have updated itunes, and even redownloaded and installed, and the same crap keeps popping up. It's odd how 2 of the 43 items download just fine, and the rest do not.

  • Error code -50 when downloading music

I keep getting an error code -50 when I download music..it happens sporatically, about every third song I attempt to download. I have sent endless emails to suport..and no one has an answer--i've done the diagnostics and sent them to support--disabled my antivirus before downloading..Ive tried the check for purchases..nothing! the songs download to the point of "processing" then the error code pops up--I close iTunes and they just dissapear.the only thing on the hard drive I have ever found is files that will say "download" the do nothing if I import them to iTunes.Frankly, Im tired of losing music I wanted and can't re-download (as you can only download a song once-and even though its missing,it still shows in the purchase history)-I never have this problem if I get music from amazon.com. any ideas as to what causes this or how to fix it?

    Hi anwarulhaq,
Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
Did you purchase the phone brand new or is it second hand? When you activated the service, did you create a new account or did you use your old Nokia account, if there's any?

  • "An unknown error occurred (-50)" keeps coming up when downloading music purchase?

"An unknown error occurred (-50)" keeps coming up when downloading music purchase, 3 songs from the album came through but the last one is having problems. I've refereed to the itunes store FAQ and tried the solutions provided, but still not working?
The firewall on the mac is turned on, however I don't have any Web Accelerators, Ad Filters and I've just recently uninstalled my Virus Protection Software.
I'm not sure how to go about fixing this problem, and the solution provided by Apple doesn't seem to help me at all.
Does anyone know? Thanks in advance! (:

"Finally, does anyone know about problems with connecting a Windows iPod to a Mac"
The only issue you should encounter when using an iPod in this manner is that Windows cannot read a Mac formatted iPod without the use of some add on 3rd party software. Windows cannot read the HFS+ file system that Macs use.
However, if you were to use a Windows formatted on a Mac, it should work just fine because Macs can natively read the FAT 32 system that Windows uses.
"a while back when she hooked her Mac-format iPod to the friend's Windows computer. Through some process that none of them could describe accurately, it reformated her Mac iPod for Windows."
I suspect what happened is that when the Mac formatted iPod was connected to the Windows computer, a warning message appeared stating that the iPod needed to be formatted. I have my doubts that this reformat process occurred entirely on it's own!

  • I'm getting this error message: "User not registered for online use" when i'm trying to download music/ track names from a CD into ITunes on my Windows 8 PC.  I'm registered and my itunes account/ appleID are all correct and working.

I'm getting this error message: "User not registered for online use" when i'm trying to download music/ track names from a CD into ITunes on my Windows 8 PC.  I'm registered and my itunes account/ appleID are all correct and working.

The ""not recognized for on-line use". error is associated with the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to look up and retrieve metadata for CDs.  Some users have reported that this error occurs when trying to import from CD, subsequent to upgrading to version 12.  A number of slightly different solutions have been reported (though all of a similar nature).
Try walking through the following steps - before starting you may have to enable hidden files and folders to be viewed - in Windows 7 / Windows Explorer select Organize > Folder and search options, then on the View tab make sure that Show hidden files, folders and drives is selected.  Without this you won't see the AppData folder in C:\Users\username\
    Exit iTunes
In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
    Delete the following files:
    CD Info.cidb
    com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
    Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
    If this doesn't work:
In iTunes, select Edit > Preferences and make a note (or take a screenshot) of your preferences settings in all relevant tabs
    Exit iTunes
In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
    Delete the following file:iTunesPrefs.xml
    Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If this second procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1.
    If this one didn't work:
    Exit iTunes
    Check the following folders:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
    C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Apple Computer\iTunes
Delete any copies of the following files:
    CD Info.cidb
    com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
    iTunesPrefs.xml
    Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
Again, if this procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1 of the second procedure. If you're still not able to retrieve CD info:
    Exit iTunes
In Windows, select Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.  Find the entry for iTunes, right-click and select Repair.
When this process has finished, restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If none of these have worked (and almost everything I've seen suggests you should be OK by this point), you may have an issue with the installation and configuration of iTunes itself.  If you have got this far, see turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for advice on how to remove and replace of all components of iTunes.

  • After downloading Music (-50) error

I have the current itunes 7.0. Just updated. Ever since, I have been unable to download music. I get a -50 error and it tells me to check the connection. The connections are good. My DNS is good. I did not switch ISPs. I checked permissions. Permissions are good. What else? I am running on Mac Os 10.4.7. It seems to me that Apple has released another crappy product. I'm getting so tired of this.
    Mandy

I have not had any problems with 7.0 or the new update 7.0.1. Try and update your 7.0 to 7.0.1 and see if they have fixed any bug that may have been in 7.0.
