Download of files shows in destination directory then disappears

Windows 7, Firefox 22, McAfee antivirus.
When I am on a site that allows me to download a file, the file and file.part appears in the destination directory. After the file completes the download, the files disappears from the directory. I have reset Firefox to the defaults ( I now need to relearn my "normal" Pages). I have tried other directories and on other disks with the same problem.

If downloads hang at the last minute (just before reaching 100%), the cause might be antivirus software which tries to scan the file and during that process hangs the Firefox instance.
In order to fix the problem, try disabling the scanning as follows:

Due to security issues you can not get programmatic access to local folders with flex web based applications. With Air you can do this as it behaves as a normal desktop application. One workaround which is only of value if the file you want to save is specifically going to be used by the app is to use shared Objects, even this will require user interaction the first time as the shared objects have a fairly small allowable space for saving and the user will be prompted to update that value if required.

[BUG][12.1.2.0.0]JAR deployment profiles deletes files in JAR destination directory

I just came across another nasty issue with the latest JDeveloper. I compile my project to a JAR file using the JAR deployment tool. When using this for the first time after upgrading, to my big surprise, somehow the deployment had managed to delete all other files in the destination directory. Luckily I had a backup, because this directory contained important files, which should definitely not be deleted. I have for now, as a workaround, moved my destination directory somewhere else, but I really hope, that this is a known issue and will be fixed - I can't see any good reason for doing this.

do you have a simple test case to reproduce this behavior (assuming you don't have a customer support contract to file a bug yourself) ? If so, please zip it up - rename the zip file to ".unzip" and sent it to me. My mail address is frank <dot> nimphius <at> oracle <dot> com (replace dot and at with the symbols)

Why does my ipod touch show up in iTunes then disappear? The computer seems to recognize it as a camera device, rather than a mass storage device. Does this have anything to do with the problem? When plugged in, a window pops up asking which photo program you'd like to use, and if you cancel, that's it. Even if you try to open a photo program, and download your photos off of the ipod, it still won't show up in itunes.

Downloading Excel file shows increase in file size

Hi,
I have a XLS file, available in my SharePoint site.
When i Click on the file, I get the "Open", "Save" and "Save As option". On top of this, I can see the file size which shows as "400kb".
When I click on save and file is download the file size is shown as 900 kb. How does that happen? How is the file size increasing exponentially? How to resolve this?

This element is true but not necessarily related to just the versions. All Office documents will retain the list info from which they're downloaded (such as metadata info) as XML. You could try clearing this data out as a test and then
re-comparing the file sizes.

File open/download dialog box flashes on the screen, then disappears.

I am upgrading to Firefox 17 (from 3.5.2) on Linux SuSE SLED 10. I am only moving to Firefox 17, as SLED 10 does not support anything higher than that and it is not feasible to upgrade my entire my OS.
My issue is that when clicking on a file on a website, the file dialog box (open with/save) flashes on the screen for a split second then disappears. For items that I have handled by specific applications in mimeTypes.rdf, it does the specified action. However, any file type that I have designated in mimeTypes as "alwaysAsk", I get this issue. I do not have this issue in FF 3.5.2 and I have gone as far as using my 3.5.2 mimeTypes.rdf and prefs.js files on my 17 install and it does not help.
I have looked through many forums and have not been able to determine how to fix this or whether it is fixable in 17.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it doesn't work, reenable the pref that was disabled.

Officejet Pro 8600 Wireless Setup -Printing shows in Queue and then disappears. Not Printing

I just received the Officejet Pro 8600 as a gift and loaded the set up software and it on my wireless network. When I try to print an email or a coupon, the command goes to the printer and shows in the queue. Then after several seconds, the printing queue (job) disappears without printing the document. Does this command go through the HP ePrint function or the Network Officejet Pro 8600? It shows the HP ePrint as being on USB.
I've run all of the diagnostics, downloaded all of the new software, firmware and updates. I've spend many hours trying to get the printer to print.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that when you send a print job to your Officejet 8600 printer that it goes to the print queue and then disappears without the print job printing.
To better assist you, would you please provide some additional information?
How is the printer connected (USB cable, ethernet, or wireless)?
What operating system are you using?
Are all print jobs failing? If yes and you are using a Windows operating system, please Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues.
When you send a print job are emailing the printer’s ePrint email address? If so please review The HP ePrint Print Job Did Not Print If you are sending the print job by using the print command, please review the Print Jobs from Your HP Printer are Stuck in the Print Queue document.

Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

Can't sign in while using on a PDF file. Box pops up then disappears. Adobe Reader up to date, account in good standing.

Just today my Export PDF program won't let me sign in, so I can sign my document. Sign in box pops up then disappears right away.
Adobe reader is up to date, as is my subscription to Export PDF. Have rebooted computer, tried different browser.

It sounds like you've tried signing in both from Reader and the web browser.
In Reader, what happens when you click the Fill & Sign tab in the Tools panel?
Have you tried clearing the browser cache, or using a different web browser? In either case, you should be able to get to the Fill & Sign tab (you don't need an ExportPDF subscription to sign a document).

Calendar Items Show on iPhone Calendar Then Disappear - Reappear

We have deployed about 25 iPhones in our enterprise. All are running v2.1 and are 3G. One user (on same Exchange server as the rest) cannot see his appointments on his calendar. Upon further review, they are there! BUT, if you look at the month, week or day view they show, then 3-4 seconds later disappear. Then 3-4 seconds later re-appear!! In a loop over and over. We have gone through 3 different iPhones now it happens the same each time.

I seem to found a solution! I was having this same issue yesterday... events appearing, then vanishing just as quickly. I suspected it is a sync issue with an event on the exchange server. This is what work for me:
- Exported my calendar from Entourage/Outlook (or make sure you have a recent backup).
- Deleted all events (so there is now no events on the exchange server).
- Double check there are no stray events remaining on the server.
- Open calender on iPhone so it looks to the server.
(All events should now be purged)
- Now import your backup/exported calendar back into Entourage/Outlook
- Make sure all events now appear on the server again.
- In iPhone calendar settings turn Exchange off then on again. (I also restarted iPhone, home button and power button.)
- Finally open iPhone calendar so fetches Exchange events (this will take a while as it's starting afresh).
Everything is behaving itself now. As I said above I suspect it was getting confused with an old or stray event on the Exchange server that wasn't visible in my Entourage.

Spam showing up in inbox then disappearing

So for a long time now, back when I had my iPhone 4 and now on my iPhone 5, I will sometimes get a new e-mail and it will clearly be spam but in my inbox. I know I know, spam does sometimes get into your inbox, but there is something much weirder going on. So since you can't mark e-mails as spam in the iPhone mail app, at least not when you have a yahoo account, I will go on safari and login to yahoo mail to mark it as spam. Well here's the weird part, when I get to my inbox the e-mail has mysteriously disappeared! Then I will exit safari and go back to the mail app where it will update and the e-mail will again disappear. Then I will goto spam/junk and there the e-mail will be. What is going on? The e-mail WILL NOT disappear in the mail app until I goto yahoo.com and check my inbox there.

Downloading multiple files from a site with single request?

Interesting Scenario:
User clicks on check boxes indicating which files they want to download from a site, then clicks a "Download" button. Is there a way (other than ZIPPING them) to download each file individually to the directory they specify?
We have a reason for wanting individual files, instead of one lumped ZIP.
We use Java for our appserver and JSPs for our pages.

How do i get the library gray strip to the left back. Everytime I open iPhoto the stip appears then disappears. How do i get it back to stay?

I have a similar problem. Recently my FF8 has been crashing a lot. It regularly locks up an entire core of my PC and often just shuts down. It has just done it a moment ago and when it started back up it did the whole "this is embarrassing" thing and asked me if I wanted to reload my tabs. I deselected the one that I was trying to view as I suspected that it may have been the cause (unlikely; it was node4.co.uk) but anyway, let's skip it just in case. Click on the button to restore and up pops my homepage only. So all of my other tabs, which I was using for work incidentally, are gone.
This is not the first time this has happened on FF8. It happened a lot recently on FF6 I think it was (so hard to keep track now, Mozilla) and I switched to Chrome as a result, but it turns out that it crashes even more than FF6 did. FF7 was a vast improvement but FF8 is so unstable/unpredictable for me at the moment that I think I'd rather use IE9 than this. It's driving me mental, clearly! I wish I could kill the process manually and have it retry restoring tabs. Hey, there's an idea Mozilla; give us a menu item that allows us to restore the session to how it started to try again or at the very least get a list of the pages we were looking at. They don't show up in Recently Closed Windows and the Restore Previous Session is greyed out too. Gah! Help!
