Download of iPhoto 9.2.3 won't install, says I need app store

I have a slow internet connection, but I have 4 computers, all running either Lion or Mountain Lion.  I ike to download an update once from the Apple Download page, then put the single download on all 4 computers instead of trying to do this individually.  So I downloaded iPhoto 9.2.3 from the Apple Downloads page. But when I go to install it I just get a message that says this program update needs to be downloaded from the App Store.
In there any way around this?  Is there a way to use the update I downloaded from the download page instead up waiting days for all my computers to update from the App Store???

I get the message "iPhoto cannot be opened because of a problem."
The panel with that error message has probably a report button to show a crash log. Copy and paste the first 50 lines of this crash report into your next message. What does it say?
What happened before iPhoto did no longer open? Did you install ne software or upgraded software? Imported new photos or videos?
Are other applications also having issues?

  • After download upgrade to firefox 4 it won't load saying I need to re-boot computer first which I've done 4 times, also it won't let me repair or uninstall or download firefox 3 until I reboot, which makes no difference I've lost my browser. now what?

After downloading an upgrade to firefox 4 the computer shut down and restarted, but firefox wouldn't open, saying I needed to shut down and re-start the computer first. Which I did again. Same result. So I tried to repair the file but it told me to reboot. Which I did again. Then I tried to uninstall it, but it wouldn't saying I needed to reboot. Which I did again. Then I tried to download firefox 3 but it wouldn't saying I needed to reboot. Which I did again. Now I've lost my browser! How do I get firefox working please?

It seems strange to reply to my own problem, but I'm doing it in the hope it might help someone who's in a fix, as I was. First, let me say that the problem of Firefox 4 being jammed may not have been the fault of firefox; it might have been this cranky vista operating system... but if you're introducing a browser for use on a cranky system, you need to tailor it to that system.... After I posted this problem, I tried a system restore to just before the firefox 4 download, which re-introduced firefox 3.6 on my programs, but it was still jammed and blocked. .... Then a friend recommended a free download: Revo Uninstaller, which will force uninstalling if necessary; and after an initial protest, Revo got to work and removed all the firefox files.... Then I re-downloaded firefox 3.6... and amazingly: it works! Even my tabs and bookmarks have been preserved, although I don't know how!.... For the future: if mozilla can't overcome this problem before they force firefox 4 on their users, then if it jams again, I have been advised to go to Google Chrome- which I don't want to do.... So, do, please, Firefox, give us a fully workable and user friendly system before you force us to go over to it [Firefox 4, that is]. Thank you so much, in anticipation.

  • Tried to install Firefox 14.0.1. Won't install, says I need XP, but I have XP.

Downloaded Firefox 14.0.1. Would not install. Got message: "This version of Firefox requires Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or newer."
I have dial-up and it took an hour to load, now it won't install. Very frustrating, particularly as I have Windows XP. Why won't it load?
    Thank you.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in compatibility mode.
You can open the Properties of the Firefox desktop shortcut via the right-click context menu and check the "Compatibility" tab.
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

  • My updates for iWork won't install via the Mac App Store

    Hello,
I have iWork or Pages [5.5.1 (2111)], Numbers [3.5 (2109)] , and Keynote [6.5 (2110)] and I am told that there are 'updates' in the Mac App Store, but every time I click on them the download fails. No reason is ever given. I had iWork '09 on disk and have been able to upgrade this far. I currently run OS X 10.10.1.
    Cheers

    Hello again.
Before you start with the steps below: make a back-up of your Mac, preferably with Time Machine: Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support
Please use the Finder and go > go to folder to go to this location:
    /Library/Application Support/
If you see any iWork related folders here, please remove them to the trash. It's normal that you will have to provide a password before you can.
After removing these iWork folder, restart your computer and try the update again. Your update might be hindered by old iWork '09 files and directories,

  • Mavericks won't install, the button in App Store is blank and non-responsive.

This is extremely frustrating, and I have read every website trying to answer this issue. None of their problems match mine.
I tried to download Mavericks yesterday. It appeared to download as normal, with the icon in launch pad, but the progress bar never moved. I cancelled the download, and tried to restart it. The download button is non-responsive. I've tried going to the store tab, clicking unfinished downloads, and it says all downloads are complete.
When I go to purchases, Mavericks is listed under "other downloads," but the button is solid black with no text, e.g. download or install, and is non-responsive. Clicking the button does nothing.
I have tried using CCleaner to clean the app store's cache, restarting the computer with a full shutdown, quitting and restarting App Store, etc. Nothing works.
If I close and reopen App Store after a full shut down, Mavericks will disappear from the purchases menu. If I go to Mavericks, click "free upgrade," then button changes to "install." When I click install, nothing happens. Mavericks reappears under the purchases menu with its button, again, completely black with no text. The button is non-responsive.
Having a $2,500 Mac, I have to say that I am extraordinarily upset with the shoddy work of Apple over the past few years. For $2,500 I expect the product to work.

Actually, it appears to have started downloading, even the the purchases tab still doesn't reflect it.
Try what I did, typing "sudo nvram boot-args="-x"" (include the quotations around the -x), and then entering your account password.
Reboot the system, which will cause it to do a full reboot (you'll find your mac operates very slowly). Log into your account, then try hitting "free upgrade" and "download" from the Mavericks page in app store (not the purchases tab). It will ask you for your Apple ID and password, then it *should* automatically take you to launch pad.
If the download doesn't seem to be progressing, press the icon in launch pad to pause it. Exit launch pad and scroll down in App Store to 'free apps" on the right side. Click to download one of them, enter your password and Apple ID as usual, and see if it downloads. Once finished, hit the Mavericks icon again to unpause it. It should start then. It's clearly a very large install, so over the past thirty minuites the progress bar has moved roughly a milimeter.

  • Lightroom won't install; says I need administrative privileges

I already have Photoshop CC. I updated to the new photography package with Lightroom and Photoshop and it keeps saying I need administrative privileges.

Is it Lightroom or your operating system that says you need Administrator privileges?  Usually you do need this to install new software.

  • IPhoto error, won't open, says it needs the most recent version

I have an early 2009 mac pro desktop with 6 megs of ram. iPhoto error, won't open, says it needs the most recent version to work but the most recent version won't work either because I have Mountain Lion. I downloaded iPhoto from the App store and the store said "you can't download the most recent version because you don't have Mavericks - would you like to download an older version?" So I said yes and downloaded it. It is actually the Mavericks version that downloads anyway. So I used an older version from my other computer and updated it to version 9.4.3. When I try to open it it says you need the most recent version. My library is on an external drive which was downgraded from Mavericks back to Mountain Lion because Mavericks wouldn't work properly on my computer. Now no version will open.
What can I do? Thank you for your help in advance.

    The exact error message is:
THe library "iPhoto Library" cannot be opened. To open it, you must upgrade to the latest version of iPhoto. Then the Quit button is at the bottom of the dialog box.
I did install iPhoto 9.5 when I installed Mavericks, Keep in mind that all of my photos are not on the boot drive but they are on an external drive. I then got rid of Mavericks and did a fresh install of Mountain Lion then I copied the contents of a previous drive that only had Mountain Lion on it. 9.5 wouldn't open in Mountain Lion so I copied an older version from another computer and updated it to 9.4.3. 9.4.3 says you must upgrade to the latest version and 9.5 says you need an older version. So I am stuck now.

  • IPhoto 9.1 update won't install

I just bought a new MacBook Pro.  It came with iPhoto 11.  The iPhoto 9.1 update won't install.  It keeps saying that I need iPhoto 9.0 or greater, but I have iPhoto 11.  I have not moved iPhoto from its default location.  My computer is only 2 days old.  I've seen others with this problem, but no real solution.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for your response TD, but this App, iPhoto 11 came already installed on my computer.  I registered my computer, but you can't register a product without a serial number.  I don't have the iPhoto 11 serial number because it came installed on my computer already.  I tried re-installing iPhoto 9.1 after registering my computer and got the same error message.  However, I did find out that I hae 90 days of complimentary phone support.  So I will be giving Apple a call.

  • Can´t update pre installed iPhoto version 9.1.5 to 9.2 because in App Store is said i have to login with the ID I bought iPhoto! I did not buy iPhoto with any ID because it was already preinstalled!

can´t update pre installed iPhoto version 9.1.5 to 9.2 because in App Store is said i have to login with the ID I bought iPhoto!
I did not buy iPhoto with any ID because it was already preinstalled!?

Did you try re-installing OS x Lion? That was the solution for me. Just make a back up with time machine and then restart your mac and during restart press ALT. Then you'll acces the support screen and there you can reinstall OS X lion on your macintosh HD.
This was the solution the people from Apple support gave me and afterwards I could download the update perfectly.

  • After updating to  Mavericks, I have been unable to update iphoto, and when I attempt to, it says that These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's Purchases list.

After updating to  Mavericks, I have been unable to update iphoto, and when I attempt to, it says that These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's Purchases list. But no other appleID has ever been used on my computer, how could this be resolved?

Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.
