Download of large podcast fails

I've got a problem downloading large video podcasts from the Stanford at itunes store. In the Faculty Lectures -> Video section at
https://deimos.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Browse/itunes.stanford.edu.1770152. 080020887.1215235987?i=1259998278
There is a 540MB lecture, the download starts Ok, gets between 10 and 150 MB into to the download and then stops, sometimes with error 8003 sometimes with a large negative error code and sometimes with error 1001. Often it will restart the download and try again (up to 3 times) but each time failing. I've tried downloading from multiple machines at multiple times of the day.

Follow up: This is with iTunes 7.0.2 and with version 6 on a notebook that is configured differently than my desktop. Same thing happens - I've searched the forum for 8003 and it seems that a number of people are having this problem, my suspicion is that it is a server issue.

  • Podcasts failing to download 8.1

Have been happily downloading MSNBC video podcasts for the past week, great speed (approx 3 mins per ep download time), then out of the blue today download speeds plummeted and each attempt at downloading fails with a 3259 error.
Have checked I'm on the latest version of iTunes (yup), disabled firewall (no diff), rebooted both pc and router multiple times, ran network diags (all passed), so am now officially stumped.
I have run speed tests and downloaded other files with no problems - so it's not my ISP. I also have not recently installed any new software, so I doubt it's that either.
Is anyone else having a problem like this? Any solutions available apart from what I've already tried?

Problem seems to have resolved itself, podcasts flew down this morning...third day of trying.

  • LARGE PODCAST DOWNLOADS

My service provider has placed a 200 meg per day (6 gig per month) download limit.
What is the best way to choose which podcasts I download, I just clicked refresh and it started to download a video podcast 128 meg. to big for me.
How can I check file size before clicking refresh, so as not to download big flies
    Thanks
    Mike

There's no size information of the podcasts in the iTunes Store.
I'm subscribed to various video podcasts (at various formats) and just checked the size per minute.
Most of them are 1 to 3.5 MB per minute, but one of them even 'eats' 10 MB/min.
There's no standard format, so you have to download a short one to determine the size/min ratio.
Once you know the ratio of a particular podcast, you can use this to calculate the required MBs from the time of a particular episode.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't download some video podcasts on iPad

I have been downloading podcasts over the last week plus and I have found that I can't download a few of them, to date I have tried using other WiFi hotspots and still all I get is an error saying that the download isn't. Availableat this time, I have made many attempts to download the same podcasts always failing before the downloading starts.
I don't have a computer where I can go and download these podcasts myself.
So anyone with an idea that can help me?

Have you tried turning the iPad off by holding the Sleep button till the "Slide to power off" appears, then turn it back on by holding the sleep button?
Podcasts come and go, it is not uncommon for a defunct podcast to disappear. Even if the episodes appear in a rss feed the media files may have been deleted. If you have problems getting episodes you are best to contact the podcaster or check their web site to see if they have an archive of their older episodes.

  • How to manage a large podcast page on a non-Apple hosting service?

Hi, I host a webpage that I built for my church with DreamHost. My question is not about how to get the site there (It has been up and running for quite a while now), but how to keep from uploading a very large podcast page every consecutive time I update the site.
I want to make recordings of sermons into a Podcast, and have already set the page in order in iWeb. Right now I just use a page with the links to .mp3 files of the sermons, but then no one is able to see the podcast artwork I placed in the files nor subscribe to the list in iTunes.
So I have finally finished sending all of the old sermons to a new page, where it is ready to be put online (But the link I have not put in the Nav Bar quite yet).
However, whenever I publish my site to a local folder, the entire site is being rewritten, forcing me (or at least, as I see the matter currently) to reupload over 100 MB of podcast files every time I simply want to update the site!
There must be a workaround to this insanity. Please, help me out or I will not be able to make this podcast work.
    ~J

Hi! I'm glad to hear things are going well for you and your Podcast page! Uploading the whole site folder can't be too much fun, but a lot of people would tell you that this is the price to pay for not using .Mac.
Fortunately, there is an FTP program called "Captain FTP". You can find it here... http://captainftp.xdsnet.de/ This FTP program includes a file syncronization option, so that it can detect which files have changed since your last upload and only upload the ones that have changed. There are many people using this program to get around uploading the entire sitefolder everytime they make an update with iWeb. Try it out. Do a search here for "Captain FTP" and you should find some discussion on making it work with iWeb sitefolders.
    Good luck!

  • An error occurred while downloading a larger version of this photo for editing. Please try again later.

I've moved to photos from iphoto and for a while all was good. And quite exciting. My entire 15k photos have migrated and are available on all my devices.
Suddenly, I get this warning when I select or try to edit a photo: Cant Download Photo: An error occurred while downloading a larger version of this photo for editing. Please try again later.
There is an exclamation  mark and a warning triangle on the picture. I am only able to test on my ibook as my Imac is out of action.
If I log in to icloud in Safari, I can down load the full sized image no problem.  Any one got any ideas?

Well stone me, it's started working.  Nothing changed on my side.....  go figure.

  • I can no longer download any NPR podcasts I subscribe to. I can download and listen to other podcasts but none from NPR.  I have tried on Windows 7 and Windows 8.  Other podcasts, music etc. download fine.

I can no longer download any NPR podcasts I subscribe to.
I can download and listen to other podcasts but none from NPR.
I have tried downloading the podcasts on computers that run Windows 7 and Windows 8.  Other podcasts, music etc. download fine.
    iTunes version:  11.3.0.54
I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling iTunes and I have tried unsubscribing and resubscribing to the podcasts.
I don't have trouble getting NPR podcasts from the store. I just can't play them in iTunes.

For additional context and to verify if we are talking about the same behavior.  Here is what the download screen looks like on my iPod:

  • Download several large files - get CONTROL_FLUSH_ERROR

    Dear all,
I want to download several large files from the application server to frontend with function module GUI_DOWNLOAD. I use a loop over the several filenames and download the files with following code:
      DATA: l_append        TYPE as4flag,
                 l_count         TYPE i,
                 l_max           type i    value 50000,
                 ls_ziel         TYPE string,
                 ls_download_txt LIKE LINE OF gt_download_txt,
                 lt_download_tmp LIKE gt_download_txt.
      CONCATENATE p_front gs_sel_table-selname '.' 'txt' INTO ls_ziel.
      IF NOT gt_download_txt[] IS INITIAL.
        LOOP AT gt_download_txt INTO ls_download_txt.
          APPEND ls_download_txt TO lt_download_tmp.
          IF l_count = l_max.
    CALL of FUNCTION MODUL GUI_DOWNLOAD
            REFRESH lt_download_tmp[].
            CLEAR l_count.
            l_append = 'X'.
          ENDIF.
          l_count = l_count + 1.
        ENDLOOP.
If I only download one large file, there is no problem. But when I want to download more then one file the function module returns the error CONTROL_FLUSH_ERROR.
I can not say at which file the error occurs (2nd, 3rd, ...) I think it depends on the file size. Several smaller files are no problem. At two large files I get the error.
    Does anyone has an idea?
    Kind regards,
    Sven

    Hi,
Please check this thead perhaps it may help.

  • When downloading a large file, like a movie Internet Explorer automatically provides one with the choice of where to save it - e.g. "C" drive, but Firefox doesn't. How can it be done?

When downloading a large file, like a movie, Internet Explorer automatically opens a download window offering the choice to "Open" or "Save"the file. This provides one with the choice of where to save it - e.g. "C" drive, in the "My Documents" or "Desktop" folders but Firefox's download window doesn't. This has always frustrated me because I would rather use Firefox exclusively to access the Internet, but when it comes to saving files downloaded off the Internet, sadly, I have to revert to IE!

If you click on Firefox from the upper-left, then Options, a new window should appear. On that window, click on the general tab. In the middle of the window, you'll see options regarding your downloads, one of which says, "Always ask me where to save files." Click on the bubble for this options, then click Ok. From then on, you should always be prompted on where you want your files saved.

  • Where can I download the Apple Podcast app for my iPad?

HELP!!! Where can I download the Apple Podcast app for my iPad? I urgently needed space to snap some photos, so I quickly deleted several low priority apps to make space.  One of those was the apple Podcast app which I now can't find anywhere.

There is no Podcasts app that "comes with" the iPad. It is made by Apple but you have to download it. See if this direct link works:

Latest ep of my podcast doesn't show in iTunes store. Subscribers CAN download it. Podcast page shows 'Total: 3 items' but lists only items 2 and 3. RSS feed is validated and fine. How do I get iTunes to display it?

I've used Feedburner many times and never had such a problem. I am a bit confused, forgive me if I ask for questions already answerd. Have you tried updating the podcast in someone elses copy of iTunes? My guess is that the file is bad since it is working in other programs but not iTunes. I would try making a new .mp4 file and podcasting it and seeing if that works.
    Good luck!

  • In Tools/Account Settings/Disk Space I have changed the setting to "To save disk space do not download messages larger than 1000KB", but all are truncated.

This occurred a few months ago when I changed the Disk Space setting to "To save disk space do not download messages larger than 1000KB".
Since then Thunderbird has truncated every message I've received no matter what the size.
Not your fault, but made much more annoying because my server, Telstra (Australia) does not let me read more than two or three messages at a time without a delay, whereas if messages under 1000KB appear in my inbox automatically I do not have this problem.
Would really appreciate a solution, as when I've been away from my emails I can have a number accumulate and it wastes valuable work time waiting to download them.
    thanks, Wendy

    hi Matt, or someone else
Only rarely do I get an email larger than 1000kb. But not matter how small the email, even if only a few kb, Thunderbird truncates every single one, and after I have "untruncated" a few emails, the server refuses to let me untruncate any more for a few minutes. I have used the Thunderbird Disk Save tool for years previously with no problems, and I think this happened when I changed it from 500 to 1000kb a few weeks ago (may have been due to a Mozilla update). I truncate large files because I pay $45/month for 4GB of usage, with absolutely no option to Telstra because I live in the bush in Queensland and Telstra wireless is our only choice for broadband. I use Windows Security Essentials and don't know how to turn off email scanning in it if indeed it does scan my emails (have always assumed it does, but can't find a way to see if it is). In any case I wouldn't want to have this feature off permanently. This problem with truncating all emails has occurred after I started to use Windows Security Essentials. Any more targetted thoughts please to what I've explained above.

  • After downloading of Video Podcasts on my iPad2, I leave my wifi

After downloading of Video Podcasts on myiPad2, I leave my wifi & iPad on overnight for this, but the next day allthe podcasts, videos, itunesU are not visible, I have to restart, sync with myPC again and sometimes download the podcasts again. Any solutions.

Another thing I noticed was after downloading a video podcasts I get a message that it cannot be played on my iPad, but the same video when downloaded again plays fine. Looks like the download management of ipad is not as robust as in a PC/MAC. It is more of an irritant than anything else.

    Please help me.

    Hi,
the "Edit locally" fonction need to install an activeX to the computer.
The user need to be administrator. Then when for the first time he tries to edit locally, the activeX will install. You can then remove the user from the administrator group.
You need write authorizations in registry (local machine) and to folder C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Temp
If you configured the portal in java mode for local edit, you need to install JRE 1.4.2_x on the computer.

  • Edit Locally: The download of the document failed

    Hello All-
We've run into an issue on our portal (EP7, SPS17) where users can not Edit Locally. The command returns the warning "The download of the document failed".
I've checked the logs and the configuration of Local Editing in System Administration and nothing seems out of place. Furthermore, the same configuration seems to function fine in our test environment.
    Any ideas?
    thanks

    Hi Tim,
There are a couple of Notes regarding local editing problems.
