Download of purchased music fails on iPhone

I just bought two music albums on one of my macs that are impossible to download on my iPhone and iPad. They show up both in the iTunes store app and in the music player, but every time I try to click on the iCloud download icon, I get a message that the song is "no longer available".
To add to the frustration, they won't sync when I do an old fashioned cable-sync from my mac either (presumably they're ignored because I've turned on automatic download?)!
I've tried logging in and out of the iTunes store on my iPhone (and of course also tried restarting the phone).

If you didn't transfer your purchases to your computer or you don't have a backup of your itunes library, you'll have to start all over again. Music can't be downloaded again, only apps can be downloaded again for free. See also: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1469

  • Downloading 'Already Purchased' Music on my iPhone

    I was testing out the new iCloud feature and wanted to download some past purchased songs. I went into the 'Purchased' list and clicked on the 'Little Cloud' icon. The song start to download but once it was done the cloud icon was still there so I clicked it again and the song downloaded twice. I now have two of the same song on my iPhone and can't seem to find a way to remove one of the songs.
    Any thoughts on what I should do?

    Ps. After the second download, I waited a bit and the 'Cloud Icon' changed into a 'purchased' button so I won't accidentially download it a 3rd time.

    Best thing to do is sync and see if you end up with duplicates in iTunes on your computer. If so, you should be able to delete it from there and re-sync.
    It's still in Beta, so we'll see what happens.
    At least this will put an end to all the "i synced my phone and lost everything" threads here.

    When you are done with this issue, consider the computer back at the office may still
    have access to your iTunes account, and it should be de-auhorized. You can do that
    remotely, but be sure you carefully do not mess up your other computer iTunes libraries.

    You can only sync everything with your one syncing computer/iTunes library. Yu can:
    - Make this your syncing computer by:
    Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
    - Use the manual method to copy music and videos from any computer/iTunes library to the iPod. See the manual method included here:

    If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:

    Why would they?
    Do you have Automatic downloads enabled? Note this only works for items purchased after it is enabled.

  • Cannot download previously purchased music

    I am trying to download previously purchased music, Darius Rucker True Believer album, to my iPhone 5. I've tried using my LTE connection and WiFi. When I click on the cloud icon, it spins for a few seconds then stops. If I try to stream the song it just goes to the next song that's actually on my iPhone. I get no error message or prompt to sign in with my credentials. Having the same issue with a few other songs. I've downloaded updates and podcasts today so I know my connection is working.
    I am not using iTunes Match.
    Any ideas?

    Previously purchased music is only available through iTunes in the Cloud in Australia, Canada, Cypress, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States
    Have you not got a backup copy on, for example, an external drive or CD/DVD ? Or on an iPod, iPad or iPhone that you can connect to your computer's iTunes and do File > Transfer Purchass to copy them back from ?

    I've tried everything, unninstal, reinstall, delete all itunes folders and registers, everithing !!!

    I'm having a similar problem (see thread below) - my purchased music videos used to play until I tried to move my library from my old PC to my new Mac. The restore kept failing as soon as a video file (.m4v) was encountered. Had to manually import blocks of music and avoid the videos. Now have my music again but iTunes just crashes when I try to play the music vids I bought from iTunes.

    Right now, I don't even know if you are on a Mac or on a Windows box.
