Download of songs in the cloud starts automatically

I want the songs to stay only in the cloud and not in my itunes. Nevertheless the download starts once a week automatically (about 5000 songs) and i have to stop it manually. That is rather annoying. Can anybody help?

Sorry. This does not help. The songs which are downloaded I have not listened to. I did not do with them anything. I just want them to stay in cloud. I listen to Frank Sinatra only once in a while (for instance)...

I just got iTunes Match and would like to know if downloading my songs from the cloud uses cellular data if I am not able to use wifi?

    Hi,
Yes, it will use cellular data. If you know that you are going to out of wifi range, you can predownload some music whilst you have a wifi connection.

  • Is there a way to download all songs from the cloud in one step?

Is there any way to download all my songs from the cloud in one step?

Ok, if you're wondering about an iOS device, there is no way to do that - you have to tap all of the cloud icons.
But I do have a workaround.
Store all the songs all locally on your Mac
Disable iTunes Match on your iOS device
Plug your iOS device into the computer (or this can be done with Wifi sync)
Sync all songs to your device
Now enable iTunes Match on your iOS device
You now have all songs stored locally on your iOS device and iTunes Match is enabled, so your metadata syncs over iCloud, and you no longer have to plug your device in to update its music library. :)

  • HT201272 Downloading matched songs from the cloud...what am I missing?

I subscribed to iTunes Match and I want to download the matched songs/albums from the cloud but I can't figure out how...I'm sure I'm missing something simple, please help!

I had the same exact problem. I would set my imac to download a batch of songs by iTunes match, I'd go do something else and every time I would come back to a crashed computer. No "Force Quit" possible, just plain crashed. So I would start it back up and have a go again. Finally after several days, I realized that it was a handful of specific songs that were the culprit. Now I don't mind if there's a glitch with a few songs. It was the fact that it ALWAYS crashed my mac. Come on iTunes team!
I found this article on Apple's support siten which has you restart iTunes Match:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4054?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
It fixed a couple of the songs, but still the crashing on the remaining dozen. It appeared that the download was trying to reconnect with a previous attempt and for whatever reason, it caused it to crash. So after lots of trial and error, here is the solution for downloading a song that won't download (I don't think this is on Apple's support site):
    1. Start playing the song. The iTunes Match cloud server will be forced to reinitiate a new download.
    2. Watch the grey bar creep to the end of the load.
    3. Right-click and download the previously undownloadable track!

    Hello A.Hawley,
It sounds like you are being prompted to authorize your computer in order to download your iTunes purchases. This article will help you do that:

  • HT201272 We just subscribed to iMatch but when we are not within wifi range, we get a message that downloading OUR songs from the cloud might incur charges.  Is this because of data usage or is there some other fee we were unaware of?

If there is some additional charge associated with downloading our own music then this is all a waste of money.

    Mandig,
There is not an additional charge from iTunes.  They are referring to potential charges from your cellular provider, which depending on your cellular plan, could be considerable.  If you are not sure about your cellular plan, stick to WiFi.

  • How do I synch / download my music in the cloud to my ipad?

I have a music library currently backed up in icloud.  I am wanting to download the music to my ipad (synch it) so that I do not need to be connected to wifi or cell service to listen to the music.  I have adequate storage space however I cannot figure out how to synch the music.  Itunes on my pc doesn't seem to allow this?  Seems to always just allow me to download each song from the cloud as I want to listen to it vs. allowing a mass download.  Also most of the music is content that I uploaded vs. purchased from itunes.  All is in the cloud however cannot synch any of it to ipad.
    Help please.  Thank You!

The right way to consolidate your music is to copy it from one computer to another. You can copy music from an iPod classic though:
How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329
When the music is all in the same library, sync the Touch.
You will still need to authorize your computer to play purchased music. For that, use the Apple ID that was used to purchase it.

  • Upgrade to iOS7.1 has broken Music. . .can't play songs in the cloud and songs that have been downloaded won't play either.

I've discovered an interesting "feature" of iOS7.1 for the iPad (4th gen).
Since upgrading, I can no longer play music that is in the cloud and when trying to switch to a song that has been downloaded to the device, it won't play either; however, the equilizer graphic indicates that something is playing (bouncing up and down) but the song position indicator stays at 0:00.
Eventually, iTunes/Music (not sure what to call it these days since Apple can't seem to decide either) gives up on the song selected, the on that is not playing, and moves to the next song.  If the next song is local to the device, music plays, if it's another song in the cloud, the pattern repeats until it hits a downloaded song.  Have also discovered, after my various and simple testing efforts, that I can no longer download songs from the cloud - I was able to download one song but afer that. . .kaput.
It takes a special level of brilliance to send out an update that breaks your own applications/code. . .particularly one so core to the device.
Two words for future releases. . ."Quality Assurance".

I had a similar problem. Try resetting and erasing the phone and restoring from a known good backup.

  • Do I have to download each of my songs from the cloud individually on my iPad?

Do I have to download each of my songs from the cloud individually onto my iPad?

It sounds like you might want to just turn iTunes Match off on your iPad and sync the old-fashioned way from your iTunes library. That way, you can just choose what music you want and not have to redownload everything. You can always turn iTunes Match back on later if you choose to.
Now the other benefit of iTunes Match is that it upgrades your tracks to 256 Kbps. If you're keen on having those higher quality tracks to listen to on your iPad (remember, they're also larger files), you can upgrade them in your iTunes library. Once you've run Match and it's finished its work, you can delete your songs (in iTunes on your computer) and Match will let you redownload them at the higher quality. Just be sure to have a current backup before doing this, just in case, and also note that some tracks might not be able to matched. Be careful not to delete those. You can sort your songs by Kind to weed those out.

  • Why do I have to keep re-downloading all of my songs from the cloud with iTunes match?

I will download all of my songs from the cloud. But then I will wake up one morning and have to re-downlaod all of them. This is really anoying because it takes time for the songs to download, so i can't listen to them.

This is on my iPhone 4. I will download them and then it will randomly just decide that I will have to re-download all of the songs again. And this process just keeps repeating!!! It is annoying!

  • How to download songs from the cloud to my itunes library

I have already began the process of downloading songs from the cloud onto my itunes library. My internet decided to rest itself so once i reconnected to the internet I had to pause all downloads. I am now trying to finish the process of downloading the songs and itunes has been processing the file of 3 songs for the past hour. Is there anyway I can fix this?

I doubt the first generation ATV supports iCloud.
iCloud was introduced long after the first ATV and there have been no more updates for the first ATV.

  • Matched song in the cloud but can not play or download.

I have one Depeche Mode song from a very old album that when I paid for iTunes Match was matched and I deleted this song, I was new and green to how iTunes Match worked at the time so I deleted all songs from my Mac but not from the cloud.
I then re-downloaded them all to get the higher bit rate non protected AAC version and that worked for most of my songs as I assume the ones that would not upgrade to the higher bit rate where not available in the iTunes Match system.
I have since either purchased the iTunes Plus version and some have been updated and now I am stuck with one song in the cloud but will not play or download.
I have gone to iTunes and purchased the iTunes Plus version but the original Protected AAC version of this Depeche Mode song in the cloud is stuck and I can find no way to delete it from my iTunes list as it is not in my actual iTunes Library folder just has the cloud icon.
    Is there a solution?

Applications purchased from one sore cannot be transfered to another store, especially when they are not available in that other country store.  The apps are locked to the Apple ID and country store from which they are purchased.
