Download of windows support software stalled
Trying to download windows support software as one of the boot camp steps. It keeps stalling at about 20%. Can anyone help?
This seems to happen sometimes.
Don't know why.
Retry the download again (and maybe again and again).

From a long time windows user, I was persuaded to migrate to mac and am quite lost. While using boot camp assistant, downloading the windows support software just stalls at 20%. I tried using alternative drives, USB, DVD and the partitioned HD of imac but still to no avail. What should I do?
No problem. For me, I spent the time downlaoding the drivers for Boot Camp 4.0 (form Lion), un-installed by Boot Camp 3.0 because it wouldn't upgrade, and then learned that Boot Camp 4.0 didn't support my old MacBok Pro. I had to go back and install 3.0, then update to 3.1, 3.2 and finally to 3.3. That took me about an hour and a half... Oh well, at least I already had most of those on disc ot downloaded...

Hey guys, I've got quite a big problem at the moment... In December, I bought a MacBook7,1 (the Mid-2010 Unibody model) and used my OS X install disc whenever I wanted to install Windows XP/Vista/7 drivers to my Boot Camp partition. However, I've recently got quite a bit of a problem...
See, I can't find my OS X Install Disc. So I have to use, from within the Boot Camp Assistant, the "Download the Windows support software for this Mac" function, to be able to burn to DVD/install to a USB stick.
Now, this function up until recently used to work completely fine - no issues at all. However I need to reinstall my Windows 7 (again, I know, Windows has quite a few problems but I really do need to use it for what I do - gaming, etc) again, and whenever I try this option in the last... week, I'd wager, it comes up with "Download could not be continued" and "The Windows Support Software is unavailable" errors.
I've checked on this forum and some people are saying that Apple removed the support software for some Macintosh computers? What on Earth? What about us lot who don't have our OS X install discs anymore?! I don't think it's fair they've specifically gimped a functionality that was working fine until a bit ago for no apparent reason. It's just... stopped working. Is this for everyone?
Is there some alternative I can use? I've tried everything. I don't have someone I could just borrow the OS X install disc from and I think it's rather unfair if they expect to me to shell out for an OS X install disc again when I could previously do what I wanted for free!!!The point isn't whether I lost them, the point is that I was able to use the Boot Camp Assistant previously fine to download the Win Support Software and put that on a USB stick (which has since been formatted for other usage).
Since this was made available as an option, I haven't really had much need for the OS X install discs (Unless I really, really needed to reinstall OS X at some point but I have no reason to fear that right?). To claim this being "okay" because I've misplaced the discs is rather outrageous. -
When I try to download the windows support software it is coming up with an error message saying I am not connected to the internet but having checked the network diagnostics several times I am definitely connected but it still won't work. Any ideas?
I get a problem like yours. I have a mac mini with 2 hdds the server and hd2 I installed windows 7 and the windows works fine. except it will not allow me to get on the net. I get error 651. I can boot back to lion and the internet connection works. I googled and error 651 does seem to show up. I would like a work around.

When I begin to attempt to download the windows support software in boot camp, it says the windows support software is unavailable. Is there any other place I can download it for a Macbook Pro 5,5 intel core 2 duo with snow leopard without the original CD?
Hi,
apart from the MacBook Air this feature is of no use for other Macs right now.
Simply ingnore it (click "I already have the Drivers...) and continue with the installation.
Sorry to say but you need the OSX Install DVD for the BootCamp Driver installation.
The 3.0 version of the BootCamp Drivers is only avaiable on the disc.
Later updates (3.1 and 3.2) can be downloaded from Apples Support website.
Call Apple and ask for a replacement and they usually send you one for a small fee.
And have the Serial-Number of your Mac at hand when calling.
And since the OSX Install DVD can also be vital for maintenance and repair it is best to have one.
The needed BootCamp Drivers are on the OSX Install DVD 1 that came with your Mac.
Insert that disc while in Windows after the Windows installation to install the drivers.

I do not recommend you to download the Windows support software through Boot Camp Assistant.
Instead, you can download the Windows support software for most Macs from the Apple website. Go to this website, look for your MacBook Pro model and the Windows version you want to install, and follow its steps.

HT4407 why such slow download of windows support software?
I have been trying to download the Windows support drivers for Boot Camp all day, using a wired gigabit network connection on a fibre-optic broadband supply that runs around 40Gbps. The indicator gets about half way along then refuses to move. can anyone help? there is plenty of space on the USB hard drive I'm sending the drivers to. Thank You
Is that download (Boot Camp Support Software 5.0.5033) compatible with MacBook Air 2013 model? The date of it (Mar 14, 2013) predates the release of the 2013 MBA.

How long does it normally take to download the windows support software

this is what "support for Windows on Mac" ever since.it went to a DL service
Compare that to 1000s of people installing Lion, iOS and other updates
and that no change or improvement in months and the yr since it was offered.
This is what lack of having a DVD in part, or not just post forall Mac ownerslike any other motherboard vendor does for customers.ps I have had adl link but it is no longer current latest driver set I've been told. -

I am trying to install Boot Camp using Boot Camp Assistant 5.1.2 (481)
I have a Windows 7 Pro ISO from MS.
When I open the Boot Camp assistant and try to create a bootable USB, it freezes on the 'downloading windows support software' part. I have tried multiple times.
I was able to download the latest support software from Apple, but no matter what I try I am unable to uncheck the box to download the software in the boot camp assistant
Ideas?Me too have the same problem where i couldnt uncheck the 'download windows support software' option when im installing Windows 8 Pro (ISO in bootable USB 3.0) using Boot Camp on my MBP retina OS X 10.9.2.
And if i have to follow these steps, it takes too much time and im not sure if it will be finished or not (im stopping the process for i have waiting for at least 3 hours downloading). And im pretty sure my internet connection is doing good when downloading this thing. What's happening here?

Windows Support Software download stuck
I'm trying to boot camp my Mac Book Air 13' 2011 which runs OS X Lion. I managed to partition my HD without a problem as well as install Windows 7 64 bit on it. However, when I went back to try to download the Windows Support Software using Boot Camp Assistant, it downloads to about 25% stalls. It's been at that point for a few hours now and before that, I'd restarted the download numerous times but the same problem keeps happening. I also went to this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3207049?start=30&tstart=0 and downloaded the .pkg file there. I unpacked it onto my external and tried to run the setup.exe on windows. However, I get the error message, "this version of boot camp is not intended for this computer model". I was wondering if there's any solution to the download problem as I suppose the second problem can't be fixed. Also, if there are any Mac Book Air 2011 owners out there who happen to already have the drivers for Windows 7 x64 and are good enough to upload it to rapidshare or somewhere so I can download it, that would be great!
Found the solution just download and unpack onto an external and run the setup.exe and everything should be fine

Funny, I was doing a search for this problem was give this window to start a new discussion. Is this a hint?
Anyway, I'm installing Boot Camp on my MacBook Pro running 10.8.2. Everytime I get to place where it's downloading the windows support software is stalls on me and I can't tell if it's going really slowly or has simply stopped completely. My internet speed is fast enough and Boot Camp is the only application running (not counting Safari to send this inquiry). Am I missing something here or is this a several hour download even with 6Mb of bandwidth?It could take several hours. The download servers are extremely slow. Can not download Windows Support Software on Bootcamp 5.0
Hi guys,
I'm running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and Bootcamp 5.0.
Recently bought Windows 7 Home Prof. and installed it already via Bootcamp.
All nice and well so far
Only when I'm trying to download the windows support software it starts with the download, but somewhere in the
middle of it stops and comes up with the message that it could not download the file.
I have tested my internet connection and it runs as usual.
My questions are:
1. Is there another place I can get windows support software for Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and download it manually?
2. What's causing my problem?
3. Is it possible to downgrade to an earlier bootcamp version if that solves the issue?

I quit after 20 minutes. What's up with "support" software that doesn't work? If support doesn't work doesn't leave much confidence in anything else.

I finally got it working.
In the end what was needed was a huge amount of patience.
After about 6 attempts downloading the windows support software and burn it
To a CD, I had another 5 attempts downloading and saving the file to an external
Memory drive.
Sometimes it got stuck at 20%
other times the download bar went to 40-50% and then got stuck with the error message.
During all my attempts I had the same network settings and I always was connected to my broadband Internet via wireless LAN.
Initial time invested was 2-3 days as the waiting always took a lot of time until the error message showed up.
I'm happy that my bootcamp windows finally has the drivers it needs,

Hello, I wish to install Linux Ubuntu on my macbook pro by using boot camp to set aside space. Whenever I load the Boot Camp Assistant application out of the utilities folder in applications, it only gives me the options to download windows support software and install windows 7. I do not want this, I just want to be able to slide that little bar to set aside the space on my hard drive that i can use for Linux. I tried just downloading the windows support software but my internet is immensely slow and it has been an hour or so since it started and it's not even half way done. When this download is finished will i get the option to partition or will i just be faced with those same options?
I am on a 13" macbook pro, with apple OS X snow leopard version 10.7.2
A lot of the data on this macbook was transferred over from my old macbook i had.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
Thank you for reading.Well thank you for your honesty. Apple requires you have to have a Mac to develop iPhone apps, ergo my foray into OS-Xland. No way around it that one except for running OSX in a VM, which would have probably saved me some quid, true enough.
BUT for those interested parties: VirtualBox has a startup script in /Library/StartupItems/VirtualBox that will prevent OSX from fully booting on the initial (and required) rEFIt boot cycle. Once I temporarily moved that out of the StartupItems rEFIt went in as expected.
FYI, the openSUSE desktop running native is a little peppier than OSX native which was a nice surprise. Now if the Mac just had more open source software we would have a deal. (: -

I tried, but it says "Download can not continue. The Windows Support Software is not available. I bought the Imac secend hand and did not get the install dvd's with it What can I do?
You don't need to download the Windows support software, because in Snow Leopard, they are only available as a download for the Late 2010 MacBook Air.
Instead, you have to buy Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Snow Leopard disc contains the Windows drivers for your Mac, so you have to install them after finishing the Windows installation
