  • Cannot download Office 2013 Service Pack 1 (KB2850036)

I'm using SCCM 2012 Config Manager.  I've created a software update date for Office 2013 - Service Pack 1.  It contains only 1 update, and that's the Office 2013 SP1 (KB2850036).
The standalone installer for this KB is around 640MB, according to the following link.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2817430/en-us
When I choose to Download this update with SCCM, it starts the normal "Provisioning Update" process but sits at 0%.   The deployment package directory grows to 334 folders, 329 files taking 3,707,522,416 bytes on the hard drive, and then eventually
throws the following error in SCCM.
Error:  Service pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2850036) 32-Bit Edition.   Failed to download content id 16844655.  Invalid certificate signature.
I've tried the download a couple of times, and I get the same thing.
    Any suggestions?

WSUS does not use the stand-alone installer for any updates. For this update in specific, because I had a battle with it, there are something like 700 different files that are part of the update and something like 800GB of data - those are ballpark numbers
based on my spotty memory; IOW, lots. Your best bet is just to right-click on the update itself and select download again.
If that still doesn't work at all, you can click on the update and go to the content tab, you'll see all of the files listed. You can individually copy the URLs (using Ctrl+C) and download them manually if there are one or two that won't download.

  • Installer doesn't download Office 2013 Pro trial

I'm on win 7 32 bit. Hi, the installer seemed to finish installing, but then nothing. I tried to re-install the installer but got a message that the installer was working and I would have to terminate it to install again. I could not find where it was running
to make it quit, though I don't know what it would be listed as in task manager. I searched help but only other problems found. What to do?
    thanks for your help,

    Hi,
Go to Control Panel -> Programs, do you see Office already installed?
If it's not unstalled yet, please reboot your computer, go to:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/evalcenter/jj192782.aspx
Click GET STARTED NOW, follow the flow to finish the download, then re-install, check if this issue persists.

  • Office 2013 Packager failed: Office (32-bit) not packaging because of Office (64-bit)

    Hello,
I used ODT to download Office 2013 Pro 32-bit and now I am trying to create a package from those files. I use the command line:
    Setup.exe /packager configuration.xml "E:\Office 2013 Pro App-v"
When I try to run this, I immidiatly get the following message:
"We found a problem! We're sorry, Office (32-bit) couldn't be installed because you have these 64-bit Office programs installed on your computer. Microsoft Office 2013. 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Office programs don't get along, so you can only have
one type installed at a time. Please try installing the 64-bit version of Office instead, or uninstall your other 64-bit Office programs and try this installation again."
I checked my installed programs on the server, but I don't have Office 2013 64-bit installed. I did in the past create packages for Office 2013 64-bit , but it's currently not in published/installed on the server. I checked with revo uninstaller to be sure.
Is there a registry setting, or something that is misleading App-V to believe I still have Office 2013 64-bit somewhere installed? I really need to stream MS Access 32-bit to users. But cannot solve this issue.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello,
Thanks for replying. Your solution works, BUT I'm immidiatly running into a second problem. The .appv package that is created, cannot be published. The error I get is:
An unexpected error occurred while retrieving AppV package manifest. Windows error code: 1465 - Windows was unable to parse the requested XML data.
I think this has to do with issues in the september releases of Office 2013. I'm gonna try downloading a previous versin using ODT. Changing the configuration.xml file to:

    Hi,
We can disable OneDrive in Office with Group Policy.
First, please download Office 2013 Administrative Template files (ADMX/ADML) from this link below:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35554
Then, press Win + R, type "gpedit.msc" in the blank box, press Enter.
The settings can be found under User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Microsoft Office 2013 -> Miscellaneous. Select the “Block signing into Office” option in the list of settings. In the Properties window, click “Enable” and select
the option “None Allowed.” Save the settings and open Word to check, there should be no OneDrive option for the user.

  • CTR programs (Office 2013) and WSUS

I want to take issue with Microsoft on this inability to update Office 2013 using Windows Server Update Services. We purchase computers with Office 2013 pre-installed which features the click to run (CTR) version. While WSUS can download office 2013 updates
they don't get installed to the client machines. Only way for these systems to stay updated is to allow the update function in the office program.
Whoever designed this feature and ok'd it should be fired. What is an organization supposed to do when they have hundreds or even thousands of computers tying up all the network bandwidth downloading office 2013 updates? I can't believe the designers never
considered this to be a problem in the office environment. I expect to see this SEVERE problem corrected in a future patch.
There's big money for Microsoft to be made with their Office software suite. It is I.T. administrators like myself that influence purchasing decisions. If this problem is not changed, I along with many other administrators will be making every effort to
    use alternatives in the future.

And the Click-To-Run version is a cloud-based Software-As-A-Service and is updated by the service provider, not the end user.
Only way for these systems to stay updated is to allow the update function in the office program.
Exactly! That is the inherent design of Software-As-A-Service.
What is an organization supposed to do when they have hundreds or even thousands of computers tying up all the network bandwidth downloading office 2013 updates?
You assume that the computer are actually downloading updates.

  • Office 2013 - File New Default Location

  • What release level of code do you get when you download a disk image (ISO/IMG) of a click-to-run Office 2013 product?

I’ve asked a similar question to this on an Office Community Forum but nobody knows the answer.  So
I was hoping that an IT professional responsible for installing and deploying Office 2013 might know.
If you download an installation disk image (ISO/IMG) of a click-to-run Office 2013 product from office.microsoft.com/myaccount (Account Options:
Install from a disc > I want to burn a disc), what release level of code do you get?
Now that Service Pack 1 is available, do you get a disk image with Service Pack 1 incorporated?
Or do you still get the RTM (Release to Manufacturing) level of code?

Diane, thank you for the reply.
I was hoping that someone who has downloaded a disk image since SP1 became available would be able to confirm that for a fact.
I have just found a good description of Click-to-Run on Technet that I didn't know existed.  The link is: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219427(v=office.15)
    The article states:
"Click-to-Run products that you download and install from Microsoft are up-to-date from the start. You won’t have to download and apply any updates or service packs immediately after you install the Office product."
This statement is probably true if you click the Install button on office.microsoft.com/myaccount and install "in real-time" over the Internet.  However, I know for a fact that it is not true if you order a backup disk (Account
Options: Install from a disc > I want to purchase a disc).  All you get is RTM level code (15.0.4420.1017).
So I still feel uneasy about what release level you get if you download a disk image.  I don't want to download what might be the better part of 1GB of code over the Internet only to discover it is back level.
Addendum (6 April 2014): I decided to perform an experiment.  I looked at the size of the data on my backup disk which contains RTM level code.  It is 2.04GB.  I then went to office.microsoft.com/myaccount and clicked to download a disk
image of my Office 2013 product.  The pop-up window that asks me whether I want to Run or Save the file informed me that the size of the file is 2.04GB!!!  I cancelled the download.  I strongly suspect that, if I had continued with the
download, I would have received the same RTM level code I already have dating back to October 2012.  I think this is awful customer service.  To some extent, I can understand the logistical problems of replacing backup disks lying in warehouses
waiting to be shipped.  But I cannot understand why disk images on download servers cannot be refreshed quickly.

  • Documents downloaded cannot be opened by Microsoft Office 2013

    Hi,
I've downloaded Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 recently. However, I cannot open downloaded files (be it excel, word, ppt etc) from the internet and a notification appears telling me to look for an app in the appstore.
I am currently using Windows 8. I've tried going to Control Panel>Programs and Features> Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013> change, but there isnt a repair option and it only tells me to uninstall Office 2013.
I've also tried referring to other similar threads, but I either don't understand or it does not seem applicable.
I am not very good with the computer technicalities, and this is causing my work to pile up as I cannot work on my laptop now. I hope for a simplistic and detailed solution. Can someone please help?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Does this only happens to those files downloaded from the internet? Try with a document that created and saved in your local disk and see what happens.
It looks like the file types didn't get associated with your Office applications. You might need to right click the file and choose "Open with...", choose the right Office application to open that file and see if it works.
If it works with the right click action, then you might need to set your default program for all Office applications under:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs
    Hope this helps.
