  • Downloading old purchases onto new computer

I have just bought a new computer after my laptop died. Will I be able to download the purchases I have made on  my old laptop onto my new computer or will I have to buy all the albums again?

It depends on what country that you are in as to whether you can re-download them for free : re-downloading. If you are not in a country where you can currently re-download past music purchases then if they are on your iPod then you should be able to copy them to your new computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases, otherwise have you got a backup of your purchases on, for example, an external drive that you can copy to your computer ?

  • I tried to download old purchases onto my ipod on my pc screen it popped up with this "You can download past purchases on this computer with just one apple IDevery 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different apple ID for 6 days"

Help is needed i payed a lot for my purchases !!!

You can use multiple AppleIDs to purchase new music but you are limited as to how frequently you can change authorizations for re-downloading  past purchases.  It may well be a measure to deter piracy by stopping a group of people from going around to a friend's computer and downloading purchases on the other person's computer.  It is easy to avoid by making sure you have backup copies on drives at home so you never need to redownload anything.

  • Cannot Download Old Purchases

I have been downloading music from iTunes for the past four years and for about the past five months, iTunes has not recognized a vast majority of my previous purchases on any of my devices: iPod touch or two PC's. I haven't changed any of my account information, even my password, in four years (yes, not the smartest idea, but still), so I have no idea why this is messed up.  The only thing that I can think of is that I will put my credit card information onto iTunes when making purchases and then remove it in an effort to curb excessive purchases .  I probably have over 200 songs that I have purchased on iTunes in the past four years that it will not even recognize as my purchases, with the exception of about 40 songs purchased over the past month.  I searched for a song that I have purchased in the store (made sure that it was the correct album) and even then iTunes did not say that I had purchased the song.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Hi Daniel8933,
This article provides information on how to access a list of previous purchases and download them again:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

If it is possible that multiple Apple IDs were unintentionally used to purchase the items, you can use this article to find your other potential Apple IDs:
Apple ID: Finding your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5625
The last thing I wanted to mention was any purchases on your iOS devices that you want to put on your computer can be transferred as described here:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

    I hope this helps!

  • Lost Itunes Purchased music ... Can you download old purchased songs?

I just lost my entire music catalog and am trying to download my purchases that I have made with the iTunes music store. Anyone have any idea how to do this or if theres some kind of support number to call. I know you can view your purchase history on iTunes but how do you download them again if youve already paid

    Hello:
You may not want to "hold your breath", but my music library was restored free of charge by apple in less than 12 hours!
Just send them an email or contact customer support by phone (they're very helpful).
Do be sure to back up your files because they tell me they can only do this once.
Also visit an Apple store if you can, they have "genius bars" in them which feature Apple employees that will provide free technical support and answer your questions!!
See if you can get that kind of support the next time you purchase a PC from Frys...

  • Downloading old purchases

I recently had my PC stolen and have lost all my iTunes disks with it. I have de-autorised all computer on my account and authorised my new one however I am unable to download my purchases again and so have no music although I can go into my account and see all of the purchases in the purchase history. can some one point me in the right direction into how to get my purchases back onto my new computer?

You only get one download, unless you are in the U.S.  Then you can use the newly released icloud, beta version, to get previous purchases.
Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick Links.

  • How do i download old purchases

My hard drive crashed and I lost all my files.  I had an old backup and I've been able to piece some back together now but there are A LOT of albums/songs still missing.  They show in my iTunes but when I try to sync or play it says original file is missing.  I have tried to delete them from iTunes and then go to the store but there is no option to re-download?  It shows "Purchased" but no cloud showing and no option to download?  How do I get all those files back?

I completely agree with you, it's driving me crazy!  I have tried on the computer and on my iPhone.  When  I go to the album, let's say, The Hives, Black White and Run (one of them).  In the "buy" spot it says "purchased" but there is no button there.  I touch it and nothing happens, the Purchased is greyed out so unlike before when I've done this it gave me the option to download.  Nothing like that.  There also isn't a cloud to the right or left of any of the albums or songs.  it will allow me to play the song or album but not download it and it doesn't show in the cloud.  I have to search for it in the store.  I've sent an email to apple support as well but I was hoping someone else had this issue and had an easy fix because it just doesn't make sense to me.  Thanks for your quick reply and if you think of anything else let me know!

  • How come I cannot download old purchases

I can see them in the cloud but the download link says "downloaded." I don't have them on my computer because my iTunes library sometimes "gets lost" between my harddrive and my external harddrive. So I lose my music files. It would be nice to be able to grab them from the cloud when this happens, but I can't.

You can already do this if the sougs were purchased though iTuens, or you have iTunes Match.  They should have a cloud by them in the Music library view.  You can also in the iTunes store under Quick Links click on "Purchased" to download content.

  • I can't download old purchases in my iBooks on my MacBook

A while back I downloaded a sample of a book and after about two weeks it still hasn't downloaded. I can't delete it to try and restart and I can pause and resume download but that doesn't work. I also can't download books I previously purchased. Does anybody have an idea as to what I can do?

  • Re-downloading old purchases - Not working!

I have just re-installed iTunes after a system recovery and I want to get back my purchases on iTunes.
I've authorized the computer and checked for available downloads but it keeps telling me everything has been downloaded...and it hasn't!
iTunes knows I have previous bought songs because they show up in my purchase history as well as my iTunes balance clearly showing that I have made purchases.
So does anyone know what the problem may be? bearing in mind that I have just recovered the system, have all virus protection etc etc so it cant be anything like that.

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link you'll be able to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • HT203167 iTunes automatically downloading old purchases

    HI,
A while ago I bought a TV series on itunes. I don't have enough memeory to keep this on my MacBook Air, but everytime I open iTunes it automatically starts to download the series. Is there a way to stop this?
    Thanks

I was charged for them the original time I purchased them, but as of yet have not been charged for the duplicate downloading. I have already deleted the duplicates, but I just thought that was a bit odd.
I'm still curious as to why this would suddenly happen.
I did remove most of my older purchases out of my Music Store / Purchased folder because it's also a playlist on my iPod, and it was getting too big, but I don't think it could be that because it would have downloaded a lot more stuff besides those few extra CD's.
When they send me a receipt for the purchases I'll know for sure.
