Download Oracle RAC

Hi,
i have a question, where i can get to download Oracle RAC 10 release 2?
I must pay to get Oracle RAC or it is free????
Thanks
Andre

Hi,
i have a question, where i can get to download Oracle
RAC 10 release 2? Oracle RAC is part of the database. It is included in the download for the database. To enable it, you MUST have Oracle Clusterware installed and configured.
Howard Rogers has a demo of installing RAC on Linux at www.dizwell.com ... look under exotica
Otherwise go to otn.oracle.com and look for Jeff Hunter under Articles
>

With Standard Edition, RAC is included in the license, subject to the limitations of Standard Edition
With Enterprise Edition, RAC is a separate priced option of the database but it has no limitations.

  • Where to download Oracle RAC 11g2 CRS/clusterware?

    Hello experts.
I'm building a home/test Oracle RAC environment on 11g2 and I can't seem to find the CRS/Clusterware for download?
I've been able to download the CVU and verify all of the server/OS/systems configuration work that was needed upfront.
I'm running on CentOS 5.5 (RHEL 5.5), on a Sun Sunfire v20z, that has FC disk array and FC HBA's connected over fiber (LC/LC connections).
I've downloaded the Oracle 11g2 software 1&2, and also the Grid software, and the CVU software.
CVU shows all configurations passed... can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm assuming Oracle allows people to download CRS/Clusterware for non-commercial (personal education) purposes without license?
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    I'm building a home/test Oracle RAC environment on 11g2 and I can't seem to find the CRS/Clusterware for download?Here:
    https://edelivery.oracle.com/
    Or:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
CVU shows all configurations passed... can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm assuming Oracle allows people to download CRS/Clusterware for non-commercial (personal education) purposes without license?Oracle Clusterware and Oracle ASM binaries are installed as a single binary called the grid infrastructure. So, If you downloaded Grid Infrastructure you already have the CRS and ASM installation.
All software downloads are free, and most come with a Developer License that allows you to use full versions of the products at no charge while developing and prototyping your applications, or for strictly self-educational purposes.

  • Oracle rac 11g installation

    Hi
Am planning to install oracle RAC 11g on linux server. Have doubt on installation of clusterware or grid infrastructure first .?
I think grid infrastructure covers clusterware and ASM both and then oracle 11g software to be installed.
But how to download grid insfrastructure software. Will it come with oracle 11g software..? or need to download it seperately.?
Because when i try to download oracle RAC 11g which gives link to download the 11g software not grid.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
Its called "oracle one node rac"  you will find plenty of documents on metalink, extract is below, hope this helps you to understand the differences.
Oracle RAC Database : Oracle RAC database is a clustered database. It can have more than one instance running on one or more hosts. To make is database RAC , there is another software needs to be installed called Oracle Grid infrastructure which takes care of multinode sync, ASM, Oracle restart etc. Oracle GI is necessary as a base of Oracle RAC. In Oracle RAC, the load is balanced across multiple instance of databases running on different nodes. This is best for Production database. Failure of any instance is abstracted from user and forwarded to another instance from the database server pool. No of instances can be controlled using Policy Managed or Admin Managed.
Oracle RAC One Node : Some time we need to have RAC databases but donot need many instances, why? Simple answers to it is leverage the high availability of RAC. The Oracle RAC One node is a RAC DB runs on one host. The advantage is it saves your resource, can to converted to full RAC any time, Cluster fail over i.e. the Database instance is moved to new instance in case of any failure on host known as Instance Relocation, easy to upgrade etc. This type of database is well suited for small production and dev/test environments.

    Hi,
you may download the following software from this link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201hpiasoft.html
(you'll have to accept the lic agreement first to access the download links)
    1. Oracle Clusterware:
Oracle Clusterware Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for HP-UX Itanium
              10gr2_clusterware_hpi.zip (840,751,341 bytes) (cksum - 490211291)
    2. Database Software:
    Download the Complete Files
              10gr2_database_hpi.zip (1,286,727,545 bytes) (cksum - 2000770536)
    3. Patch set 10.2.0.4 from Metalink (don't go into production with an unpatched 10.2.0.1 - this will force you to patch it later for sure)
Scroll down in ML-Note:316900.1 to access the patch set or use the "Simple Search" in the patch download on Metalink
    4. Please READ the install doc and the clusterware install doc:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b14202/toc.htm
    Your procedure will be (simplified):
    a) Install the Oracle Clusterware into Oracle-Home-1
    b) Install the Oracle Software into Oracle-Home-2
    c) If you are planning to use ASM you may prepare a 3rd home as ASM home - this would be best practices but is not required
    d) Patch your Oracle Homes to 10.2.0.4
    e) If you are planning to use ASM then configure ASM with the OUI
    f) Then create your databases
    Kind regards
    Mike

  • FDM is not supported on Oracle RAC?  Why not?

[http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/fdm_11113_readme.pdf|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/fdm_11113_readme.pdf] We are in the process of implementing Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management (FDM) version 11.1.1.3 as part of our Hyperion Essbase BI environment. I read over the documentation prior to building the databases, but apparently I missed an important bit of information. It seems that FDM is not supported on Oracle RAC. I just noticed this under in the "Known Issues" section of the FDM 11.1.1.3 release notes, and that was only one sentence. The release notes do not explain why this is the case.
    - Does anyone know why FDM release 11.1.1.3 is not supported for Oracle RAC?
    - Has this always been the case?
    - Can a single node database, running on an Oracle 10.2.0.4 two node RAC environment, be used instead of building a separate, stand-alone database?
Link to readme document. The reference to RAC support, or non-support, is on page 6:

    Hi Daan,
I belive we all shoud consider http://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=939
I get upset to see people on this forum who answer the questions like *'use google'* or *'let me google it for you'* or *'use this forum filter'*
I belive it is better to help them answer a better question or if you don't like the question ignore it.
    Hi user10511107,
I belive your problem is with Windows not with BI, BI just can't get windows version,
If you are on right version of windows go to MSDN and search for your error and how to fix it

    Services
Traditionally an Oracle database provided a single service and all users connected to the same service.
A database will always have this default database service that is the database name. This service cannot be modified and will always allow you to connect to the database.
Do not use the default database service, create at least one service.
With Oracle Database 11g, a database can have many services (up to a maximum of 115 per database).
The services hide the complexity of the cluster from the client by providing a single system image for managing work. Applications and mid-tier connection pools select a service by using the Service Name in their connection data.

Please reply soonYou know that the modifications you'have done on spfile are not active until you restart DB. So why don't you want to modify the spfile by "alter system ... scope=spfile" commands? I don't see the point to create pfile, modify it and recreate spfile...

  • Oracle Rac On Vmware

I have successfully installed Oracle Rac clusterware and database on Vmware using Oracle Red-Hat enterprise Linux -5.
I have a doubt here, that when I restart my setup the disks in Asm are not mounted automatically during service start, so I have to first manually mount my disks in ASM instance.
The thing goes smooth after re-issuing the command
    ./crsctl start -all
    My Database instance goes up
So I have a question on How to configure the ASM instance so that the Disk mounts automatically when the service is starting up.
    Thanks,
    Varun

please check value of ASM_DISKGROUPS parameter in ASM pfile.
ASM_DISKGROUPS specifies a list of names of disk groups to be mounted by an Automatic Storage Management instance at instance startup or when an ALTER DISKGROUP ALL MOUNT statement is issued.

  • Using Oracle RAC VM tmeplates - Oracle Virtual Box

Greetings - can any one guide me to use Oracle RAC vm templates using Oracle Virtual Box?
    Appreciated!

There is no need to burn a DVD because Virtualbox can directly mount and boot from the .iso image you downloaded. It is usually a good idea to check the md5 checksum of your download with the number provided by the download page to verify your download is not corrupted. There are no problems installing any version of Oracle Linux under Virtualbox provided you have the right hardware. I suggest to check the Virtualbox documentation.
Note: This is not a Virtualbox forum.

  • Oracle RAC environment

    Hi,
I have 4 virtual machines based on XEN. Each of them have Centos 5 OS, 1GB RAM, 10GB disk space. I download all necessary staff for install Oracle RAC, but I wondering what infrastructure I should implement? I want install RAC for test functionality like Cache Fusion, TAF and do some AWR statistic.
What do you think, which choice will be the best:
    * raw devices or OCFS2?
    * use one xen machine for storage data or partition disk on each machine and use ASM?
    * other..
If you have own experience please help me choose best configuration.
    Best,
    tutus

    Hi,
i don't have experience with Xen in oracle RAC but i do use Vmware Fusion on my MAC machine.
    ** raw devices or OCFS2?*
-- for manageability use OCFS2. raw device is difficult to manage unless you want to try it.
** use one xen machine for storage data or partition disk on each machine and use ASM?*
-- 1. yes you can create a new Xen machine for your storage try considering using Openfiler
-- 2. remember that the disk should be shared on both Linux machine and you cannot just create disk partition on each box.
if you just want to test RAC, why not use vmware its very easy to configure even sharing the disk between nodes.
