Download original Acrobat 8 files

My system crashed and I lost the installation files for my Adobe Acrobat 8.
I have the product license number - it is in my licensed software list.
Where can I find the original files to download for a new installation?

The original vendor is Adobe.
I am surprised they do not have a repository where I can download the
installation files from.

but I only get readme files on my mac

I assume you went to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Macintosh. Each update has 2 steps to download and the download should then be automatic. Generally, the updates must be installed in order unless indicated otherwise. However, the downloads should be installation files (not sure about the extension or type for a MAC) and not a text or readme file. I found 2 pages, each with a download button for the downloads. The last one should start the download as I mentioned. If the MAC version of Acrobat is similar to Windows in the update sense, you may be able to do updates from the Help menu within Acrobat.

Trying to download Adobe Acrobat 11 for PDFs. Am asked where to download to. Every folder I recommend is rejected. Any advice

Ivan please choose the default location of your User directory to download the install files.  Once the software is downloaded you can then install to your Program Files/Applications folder depending on your operating system.

What OS? Have you tried a repair and updates from the HELP menu? The updates may be the key.

If you only want to view PDF documents, you only need to download Adobe Reader.

  • Huge Acrobat temp files - is this right?

    Hi
When using the reduce file size function, I have noticed that acrobat produces massive temp files.  I was running some files over night, and acrobat crashed, presumably because it ran out of HD space.  Upon looking for what was using all the space, I found a temp file in "C:\Documents and Settings\{user}\Local Settings\Temp".  This file was 75gig.  On another machine that I was running some files on, the file was 115gig.
Is this right?  Why does acrobat produce files of such size when the original files are nowhere near that size combined?
Why doesn't acrobat delete the temp file after it has finished 1 file, then create a new one for the next file?
Running Acrobat 9 Pro on Windows XP, and Windows 7.
Edit - I just ran a 3MB file through reduce file size, and acrobat created a temp file of 446MB

  • I have been unable to download adobe acrobat pro, which I purchased on a month to month basis almost exactly 1 year ago, since I purchased it. I just received a renewal email and it had a link to download the program and for the first time when I clicked

I have been unable to download adobe acrobat pro, which I purchased on a month to month basis almost exactly 1 year ago, since I purchased it. I just received a renewal email and it had a link to download the program and for the first time when I clicked on the link it actually sent me to a page that had the icon to download now. I clicked on that, but when I went to open the file and start downloading after about 3 minutes into downloading it says an error had occurred. Can anyone help me?

I am a little worried. If you are an existing subscriber why would Adobe need you to download... I wonder if the message is a fake.
I'm not clear, if you've had it for a year, whether you need to download, or you are just following the email?
This page with the icon to download now. Was it a page on adobe.com ?

  • Can't open Acrobat pdf files in document library - SBS 2011

I've uploaded some Acrobat PDF files to a document library in the companyweb (SharePoint 2010 Foundation website) on SBS 2011. But if I click on one of them in the standard view, acrobat opens and displays a message “The URL you have provided could not be
reached. Please verify that the URL is correct and that the network location is reachable.” I'm using Acrobat Reader XI 11.0.2 and Internet Explorer 10.
I have tried a few suggested solutions, eg to edit the docicon.xml file to include <Mapping Key="pdf" Value="AdobePDF.png" OpenControl="AdobeAcrobat.OpenDocuments"/>, check that the WebClient service is running, and
Use Remote Interfaces permission is set on the SharePoint site. But no luck.
I don't know if this is a problem with SBS 2011, or Acrobat, or Internet Explorer. Interestingly the pdf opens OK in Chrome. It looks like it is trying to edit the document instead of open it in the acrobat reader.
    Anyone know of a solution?

I have found one possible solution. In my case the site was brought into Sharepoint Foundation 2010 as a migrated site from a previous SBS installation.
The site was imported as http://servername and the IIS site had a host header with companyweb so that users could browse to it, and all references to the site were as http://companyweb
All my attempts to open the PDFs were using the http://companyweb URL.
I was researching the issue and had gone through everything, but one thing got me thinking when some sites suggested that I look at the permissive or strict browser file open settings. I looked at the web application and it was set to http://servername in
the Central Administration site. I thought hmm let's try opening the Adobe PDF docs with that URL instead, and it worked!
So I changed the web application URL to http://companyweb and tried again and hey presto it's now working.
I really hope this helps someone, it took me a good couple of hours of my day researching to find the solution here.
Some extra info: we are using Adobe Reader 11.0.6 with IE11. Testing with Firefox worked, but that opens the document by downloading it locally and then using Adobe Reader. fix The above actually resolves the problem, it's nothing to do with permissive or strict
file open settings, I set the SP site back to strict and PDFs still open fine.

  • I need to download Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard because my new computer doesn not have cd media.  When I put my serial number in, it says it is not valid.

My new computer does not have CD media so I need to download Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard online.  I am able to download but when it prompts me for the serial number, it says my number is not valid.  I have double and triple checked, the serial number has been entered EXACTLY as it says on the box.  What could be causing this?

Adobe acrobat 9 standard you will need to use a computer which does contain an optical drive and copy the contents to a USB drive.  You can then install from the USB drive on your computer which does not include an optical drive.  Unfortunately if you did not choose download at the time of purchase then I am not aware of any download locations for the installation files.

Isabellasf have you ran the installation files which were downloaded?  By default they are downloaded to the download folder within your User folder.

  • How do I download Adobe Acrobat 10 Professional?

How do I download Adobe Acrobat 10 Professional?  I have a serial key.  My computer was stolen and I need to install Adobe Acrobat on my new computer.  Do I need to deactivate the license on my old computer??

Just install the file that you downloaded last time and use the SN that came with it. Or did you not save the download. In that case you can try http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-acrobat-x-10-pro-reader-suite-direct-download-links-ddl.ht ml. I do not know how long AA X will be around online. You will still need your SN.
