  • Where to download OUI?

I am new to Oracle. I am trying to uninstall oracle on a server. When I run the setup.exe file it does not give me the option to uninstall. By googling the internet it says I need OUI (oracle universal installer) to uninstall, I have searched the internet thoroughly but can not find where I can download the OUI. Is it a free download or do I have to buy a license for it? Can someone tell me where I can find and download OUI?

After your post I figure out you didn't perfom the installation. You should specify the OS you are working with, in Windows OUI creates a link at start menu -> Oracle Installation Products -> Oracle Universal Installer, which points to a file located at
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\oui\install\setup.exe.

  • Problems installing AIA 2.5 Foundation Pack pre-reqs on SOA 10g

I am involved in a very large AIA project. I am creating my own environment prior to go to the customer and I have found some issues while installing the pre-reqs for the Foundation Pack on top of Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3.4 (MLR #8) using OC4J.
I am following the attached doc, in specific these lines:
Oracle SOA Suite 10 g Release 3 (10.1.3.4 + MLR#8 or later). Use Advanced Installation option and select J2EE, the web server, and Oracle SOA Suite.
This version of AIA is tested and certified on 10.1.3.4 MLR#8 (Patch 8372150). You need to apply these additional patches over MLR#8:
    * 5507491
    * 7692665
    * 8533397
Note: Before you apply patch 8533397, perfrom the following tasks.
    1. Download OUI 10.1.0.6.0 (patch 6640838) and install it on the Oracle home with all components listed on screen.
    2. Download latest 10.1 Opatch (Patch 6880880) and install it on the Oracle home.
    * 8644645
I was able to install MLR#8, and then 5507491,7692665. I also did the pre-reqs for 8533397. But when trying to install 8533397, I got the following:

Do u have any suggestions?? Is there anything I can do to install those two patches (8533397 & 8644645).
In my research I noticed that the OPatch is either not being updated correctly, or simply not able to use the overlay patches, and that is why is saying that I need a most updated one. But for an Oracle DB 10.1 system, the latest OPatch version I found was 1.0.0.0.63.

    Hi Walter:
    how r u?
Basically the issue is related when u apply patch 6640838 to upgrade OUI. If u don't do the following, u get into the error u described in ur post:
    1. Before u install patch #6640838 , u need to be sure to rename the OPatch directory under $ORACLE_HOME. Once u do that, u can proceed with the application of patch 6640838.
    2. Then after applying it u can download patch 6880880, in order to have the latest OPatch version (1.0.0.0.63). In this step, u just need to unzip it, and u will have a new OPatch directory under $ORACLE_HOME
    3. After that, u can go and do an "opatch apply" for patches 8533397 and 8644645.
And that's it, u will get rid of that messy problem.
I ran into the same issue, but just realized the step that was causing all the problem.
    Hope this helps.

Use higher versions of OUI Installer and OPatch - 10.2 or above

  • Oracle.swd.oui directory missing from 10G agent download

I downloaded Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Management Agent Release 1 (10.1.0.2) for SPARC 32 bit fle name GC10g_agent_download.cpio.gz from OTN and the agent_download/Disk1/solaris/agent/stage/Components/oracle.swd.oui directory is missing. I copied the oracle.swd.oui directory over from the Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 1 (10.1.0.2) download. After this the agent install worked just fine. Thank you for using Greg's debugging services.

Please refer to the following documentation for details on downloadable agent. (you may need to concatenate the 2 lines below and place the url in your browser).

  • Is OUI available as a separate download?

    Hi all,
I'm looking for the latest version of the installer, but i can't find an appropriate download at OTN.
I have all the 10gR2 files from OTN but I don't know how to install the OUI separately (without RDBMS etc).
    Thanks in advance.
    Daniel

Everytime you install something with an upgraded OUI, it will install in the client
if you select so. You do not need to pre-install the new OUI. It is not needed as a
    pre-requisite.

  • Where is OUI Download?

Where is the download site for OUI (Oracle Universal Installer) version 10.1.0.2.0 or higher? I already have OUI 2.2.0.12.0 installed on my Windows XP/2003 but it says I need OUI 10.1.0.2.0 or higher in order to de-install & re-install my Oracle Designer software product.

On an side note, you should use the OUI you used to install your Designer to do the uninstall. If you have many different version of Oracle installed, try the OUI under Designer ORALCE_HOME

  • ODT Installation problem with OUI

    Good afternoon,
I also posted this in the Database Installation forum.
I am not as familiar with Oracle as I would like to be, so I will be as specific as possible. Thanks in advance for your time.
I am on a Windows 2003 server with Oracle 9204 installed. I downloaded ODTwithODAC10202.exe from Oracle and ran it. It unzipped files to C:\. This created the "install" and "stage" folders.
I ran C:\install\setup.exe file. A command window appears with the following text:
    =============
    Starting Oracle Universal Installer...
    Checking installer requirements...
Checking operating system version: must be 4.0, 5.0, 5.1,
    l 5.2 Passed
Checking monitor: must be configured to display at least 2
    256 . Actual 65536 Passed
    All installer requirements met.
Preparing to launch Oracle Universal Installer from C:\DOCUME~1\!Admin\LOCALS~1\1\OraInstall2006-10-04_12-52-03PM. Please wait ...
    ================
At this point the command window disappears every time.
In an effort to troubleshoot, I navigated to the file path indicated in the output. I find the OraInstall2006-10-04_12-52-03PM folder. Within this folder are 3 subfolders:
    [diagnostics]
    [jre]
    [oui]
So I drilled into the oui/bin folder and double click setup.exe. I get an error message stating:
    Oracle Universal Installer
The Java RunTime Environment was not found at C:\DOCUME~1\!Admin\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\OraInstall2006-10-04_12-52-03PM\jre\bin\javaw.exe. Hence, the Oracle Universal Installer cannot be run.
Please visit http://www.javasoft.com and install JRE version 1.3.1 or higher and try again.
    OK
Okay so I looked at that error closely and noticed that it's pointing to the wrong path. Note the "jre" folder I mentioned (part of the 3 subfolders) earlier. I looked in the "jre" folder and there is a "1.4.2" folder BEFORE the bin folder. So javaw.exe is actually in OraInstall2006-10-04_12-52-03PM\jre\1.4.2\bin\javaw.exe and not in jre\bin, which seems to have caused the error above.
I cannot figure out how to fix this. A new OraInstall2006-10-04_12-52-03PM folder is created everytime I try to run the main install file. I am not sure this is even the problem but it seems plausible.
On a side note, i tried the -J-Dsun.noddraw=true switch that seemed to be the solution to other disappearing OUI windows. But that didn't work. I really think the issue seems to be in the wrong path reference.
    Thanks for your help.

I fixed the problem by creating a local administrator account, logging in as that user, and then installing the product.
I read one sentence on the hundreds of web pages I have looked at concerning this problem that said maybe domain level administrator accounts are the problem. The local seemed to fix it.

When I run the setup.exe it runs a cmd shell for 15 seconds or so but then has a fatal error and closes.
By then it has displayed the following:

I have checked that the file size and cksum values match those on the download page. They do.
I have now uninstalled the Express version in case that was getting in the way somehow. It made no difference.
I have checked the certification details and it seems to be OK.
    Anyone got any ideas?

    Hi,
I'm experiencing I believe exactly the same thing. I start oui from a directory with no spaces, and with a temp directory path that also contains no spaces (set TEMP=c:\temp before running setup). The following appears in a new console window, and after a few seconds, the console window closes with no additional information. I do have XP/SP3 -- has anyone seen this situation and solved it and/or can anyone confirm that SP3 is the issue? Thanks.

  • OUI patch install hangs, files being used by another application

Hi when a patch install hangs, and the OUI error message is that files needing to be reinstalled are being used by another application, how can you identify which files or processes are responsible so that they can be shut down? All normal Oracle services and DTC are shut down already.
This is patch 6810189 upgrade to 10.2.0.4 (from 10.2.0.3) which includes the April CPU on a Win32 server.

Please check any oracle service is still on ..
need to shutdown listener/oracle service .. and other db service belongs to Oracle.
You can download windows process explorer and check for any oracle process and kill those and then apply CPU

  • Creation of ASM disk for OUI

I need to install a Oracle Database in order to install Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c.
Need the database to use a ASM disk.
I used the following command to create the disk, per the Oracle Database Installation Guide.
    #/usr/sbin/oracleasm createdisk DISK1 /dev/sdd1
    #oracleasm listdisks
    DISK1
However, when running the OUI for Oracle Database 12c (understand 11.2.0.3 is certified for Cloud Control), step 7
errors INS-30517 when attempting to select "Oracle Automatic Storage Management" for "Storage type".
Researched the error at this location but no cause or action was provided.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16655_01/server.121/e26079/common_errormessages.htm
INS-30517: Automatic Storage Management software is not configured on this system.
The database install guide states that I need to ensure the "disk discovery string" is set the "ORCL:*" or is left empy ("") so the installer discovers these disks.
It doesn't show how to confirm or change the settings.
At this point I'm at a stopping point.

All ASMLib installations require the oracleasmlib and oracleasm-support packages. The oracleasm kernel driver is included in the Oracle UEK kernel. Perhaps you are missing the oracleasmlib package. You can download it from:
Oracle Linux: Oracle ASMLib | Oracle Technology Network
Oracleasmlib is not necessary for ASM to work, but it contains software necessary for Linux oracleasm, including the /usr/sbin/oracleasm-discover utility, which the Oracle installer used in the previous 11g version to detect available ASM volumes.

    I got it going.
This was the 10.2 download from OTN installing to MS Windows XP SP2.
Turns out that OUI won't start if the total length of the full directory path string is too long (to setup.exe or oui.exe). Solution was to move it closer to the base directory ("\") or to rename directories to make them shorter.

    HELP!!!!
    thanks

I am experiencing the same problem. There seems to be a horrible bug in the installer program. No problems are reported
at the end of the install log. But earlier I find messages such as:
    Festlegen des Wertes f|r PROD_HOME zu /oracle9201/../oui
oracle.swd.oui Produktverzeichnis: Das Verzeichnis /oui konnte nicht erstellt werden. Entweder haben Sie nicht die erforderlichen Berechtigungen oder der Datentrdger verf|gt nicht |ber ausreichend Speiche
For some strange reason it seems to use /oracle9201 as base here instead of $ORACLE_HOME which is /oracle9201/product/home. But of course the / directory is not writable for the oracle user.
The backslashes do not look good either. And again for some reason it does not use ORACLE_HOME as base directory here. Moreover the system has installed some things twice, in $ORACLE_HOME AND in /oracle9201. I think there is a problem in the installation program that uses the wrong path for some base directory. It can probably be overcome by giving oracle access to the / directory and then later copying these files into ORACLE_HOME. But who wants to give oracle-User access to / directory?
