Download Par File

Hi,
I am using Portal 7.02
When I try to download the Par file from ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/temp several par files get downloaded with its name as it is with .par.bak extension and several par files download with the default name com.sap.portal.support.browse.default
I found several posts on sdn that says use winrar to open such file.
My question is- why is it showing different behavior for different par files? Shouldn't it show all the downloaded par files same way?
Earlier I was on EP 6.0 and never faced such problem.
Thanks,
Atul

Dear Atul,
You can directly download the par file without need to modify.
System administration->Support->Portal Runtime->Browse deployment->ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/temp->
- Identify the PAR file and Copy the name of PAR file.
- Click on VIEW instead of download link to save the PAR file.
- Save the PAR file with same name as you copied with .par extentions
- Now you can user the PAR file.
if JAR file is not coming under lib folder after importing in the NWDS then you can get the jar file with extracting the PAR file under lib folder. then copy and paste the jar file manually.
Hope it will helps.

  • Downloading .par files

    Hello All,
I want to download a .par file in the portal to re-work on its content. I navigated to System Administration>Support>Portal Runtime>Browse deployment. At this stage the various .par files present were listed out. Each had a link u2018browseu2019 & u2018downloadu2019 next to it. But when I click on the download link a file having the extenstion of .default is getting saved. The file is only around 92KB, and I feel this does not contain the entire .par file.
How can I download a .par file as it is? I can then use Winzip to uncompress it and modify the contents.

    PKS.

    Sachin,
    Please check this path,
    System Admin -> Support -> Portal Runtime -> Brose deployement -> root -> WEB-INF -> deployment -> pcd
download  and save it to in your computer -> open the zip file and extract the .par.bak file
If you are not able to extract the file, then ignore the 2nd step and download par file and extract the zip file without storing into local computer
Store the extracted file into local computer
Import the project into NWDS. While selecting the file you have to choose the file type as "par.bak" .

  • Download of par file is not availlable

I have a trial version of portal 7.1 on my server.
Trying to download a par file from portal:
    System Administration -> Support ->
I discovered that the trial version does not make the pars available
for download. I guess that this option is not available in trial version?
Could somebody say if I am right? Otherwise maybe something
    Was wrong in the installation!!
    Thanks

    Hi ,
In CE7.1, it seems to be there is no feature like upload/download par files.you have to convert into ear files and deploy.

  • Exception when using a renamed com.sap.portal.navigation.toolarea.par file

    Hi,
I would like to modify the toolarea of our SAP Enterprise Portal. Basically, I just want to move the tools to the right hand side.
    <b>Problem Description</b>
According to several threads I found on sdn
    - How to modify the header
    - copy and rename par-file?
it should be fairly simple to modify the tool area.
    - download com.sap.portal.navigation.toolarea.par from portal server
    - import the downloaded par file into your NetWeaver Developer Studio
    - Change the ToolAreaiView.jsp in project folder dist/PORTAL-INF/jsp
    - Save changes
    - Deploy project to the portal server (>File>Export>Par File><Name of your project>>Next>...)
    - Remove the standard Tool Area iView from your Framework page
    - Create a new iView from your uploaded par file (chose default component)
    - Add new created iView to your Framework page
Done, you should see your customized tool area. Unfortunately I encounter a Portal Runtime Exception (Page could not create the iView). I did exactly as described above.
    - I downloaded the com.sap.portal.navigation.toolarea.par.bak file from >System Administration>Support>Portal Runtime>Browse Deployment>ROOT>WEB-INF/deployment/temp.
    - Extracted the com.sap.portal.navigation.toolarea.par after changing the downloaded files file extension to zip
    - Imported the extracted par file into Netweaver Developer Studio under a new project name
    - Found the ToolAreaiView.jsp in project folder dist/PORTAL-INF/jsp
    - Did NO changes
    - Exported the project into a par file and deployed the par file to the portal successfully.
    - Removed the old Tool Area iView from the Framework page
    - Created a new Tool Area iView from my uploaded par file (default component)
    - Added the new created iView to the Framework page.
    - I logged on again and instead of the Tool Area I see an error message

    Best regards,
    Martin

    Hi Yoav,
thank you for your swift response. You were right. I do not know why but after I imported the downloaded par file into NetWeaver Developer Studio, the new created project did not contain the jar files, which come with the par file. I added the jar files manually to the project, put them into the project's build path and instructed the NWDS to put them into the par file which I deployed to the portal server.
Afterwards I completed the routine described in my first post and everything worked out. Thanks a lot for that hint.
By the way do you know how to instruct NWDS to include the jar files automatically during an import?
    Best regards,
    Martin

  • How to download com.sap.portal.navigation.contentarea par file

I am trying to download the com.sap.portal.navigation.contentarea par file so that I can modify it and upload it with a new name.  I found the file in the Support Desk of the portal, and I downloaded it just fine.  However, when I download it it was in the form of com.sap.portal.support.browse.zip.  I tried to extract the files from there, and I came up with com.sap.portal.support.browse.
How can I get this in the form of a par file to import into NWDS?  I have imported par files into NWDS before, but I nothing I am trying is working, because I can't get it into the .par or .par.bak formats.
    Thanks,
    Owen

    OK done...
I am doing it and explaining you step by step same time...
    1. logged in to portal -> system administration -> support -> ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/pcd
    2. clicked download link beside com.sap.portal.navigation.contentarea.par.bak file.
    3. downloaded/saved to my desktop
    4. Now I have file com.sap.portal.support.browse.default on my local machine.
    5. Right click on this . default file and select Add to "com.sap.portal.support.browse.default.rar" --- this is the important step...*
    6. Now you have com.sap.portal.support.browse RAR / ZIP file (no extension will be added, you can check it by file format).
    7. Keep on double clicking on rar file till you see .bak file.
    8. Once you are at / you see com.sap.portal.navigation.contentarea.par.bak then right click on this file and select "Exctract to specified folder" ...
    9. Change the path to where you want to store .bak.
    10. rename it to .par by removing .bak.
That is it... its all yours to modify/customize...
Hope this is clear to you.... let me know If you see anymore issues.
As you asked for... I have done it in my system and writing it to you....

  • How to download the PAR FILE

    Hi,
I am very new to Portal.  I have do some corrections to COM.SAPPORTAL.RUNTIME.LOGON.PAR.    I have NWDK and I have portal access but I dont have have server system access.  How to down load this file from system administration and support place.
    Thanks
    Naveen

    Hi Naveen,
I believe the best way is to get it directly from the Portal Server, but if you do not have access, one thing you might try is creating a portal transport that includes this par file. Then, i believe, you can use winzip to extract the transport and get the par file out. Not sure if this will work for you, but you can give it a shot!
    Thanks,

  • Download and modify ESS Skills Profile iView (PAR File)

    Hi,
    We have EP 7.0 (SP09), NW2004s, ESS 1.0 (SP04) + ERP2005 (SP05)
we need to modify the iView for ESS Skill Profile, so Users should only display thier qualifications and NOT edit them. So we need to delete the EDIT Buttons in the standard sap iView in the ESS BP.
    - Where can we find the iView/PAR File (Code) on the Portal Server (com.sap.pct.erp.ess.skills OR sap.com/ess~skl/SkillsApplication)?
    - What should we consider when modifying this iView...???

  • Error while importing logon par file into NWDS.

    Dear Friends ,
I m trying to customise the logon screen for my project. For this I have downloaded the "com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.bak" from portal server instance with the help of basis team. I have locally saved this file on my desktop[. I have renamed the file as .par and removed the .bak extension. Now I have tried to import the file onto NWDS in EP perspective by following File>Import>Par file. But its giving me this error:
    error in opening zip file
Reason: Sorry, an error occured creating the new project.
The plugin "com.sap.portal.plugins.config-archiver caused an exception during the

In some of the solutions provided in SDN saying that after renaming the file to par open with zip if i done it is again showing the error as "Start of the central directory not found .Zip file corrupt.Possible cause :file transfer error."
    Kindly suggest me the solution.
    Thanks and regards.

    Hi,
I think you have taken this file from a wrong path and hence this issue.
Pls download the par file from the below path and try importing it into EP perspective..
    System admin> Support>Portal Runtime > Browse Deployment>
Browse through the following to find the com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.bak file:
    WEB-INF u2013> deployment u2013> pcd
    Root>WEB-INF>Portal>Portalapps> temp--> download the com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.bak

But as the problem is happening in NWDS in my local system, so I am attaching the NWDS log here.

  • Not able to get the standard par files

    Hi,
I  downloaded the standard par file from ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/pcd (download this folder).  My problem is I am not able to extract the par.bak file from the downloaded zip file. But I able to exract the par.bak file for custom created portal componet's par file.
    What would me the problem?
    Kindly help me out.
    Ram

    Hi,
Rename the par.bak file to par and then try to import it into NWDS. This will create a project in NWDS and you can start playing around with the project files. When you import par file no jar files are imported into NWDS, so you should do it manually.
Check this how to import par file into NWDS:

  • Issue while uploading the PAR file thru system admin- AdministrationConsole

    Hi All,
I have downloaded the PAR file "com.sap.portal.navigation.lightdetailednavigationtree.par.bak" from system admin->support->Portal Runtime ->browse deployment->Web-Inf->deployment->PCD.
after downloaded to the desktop for manual change in one of the JSP file rather than importing into NWDS. I have removed the bak from the file and added the .Zip to the file and i extracted the file.
here inside i got the three folders i.e WEB-INF,PORTAL-INF and file_list. now i went to jsp file called "LightDetailedNavigationTree.JSP" , changed one small property value  in the code from false to true. after that i again zip the folders strcuture make the file name as original in the form of .PAR file. now i am trying to upload it in the portal thru system admin->portal runtime->administration console, but i am getting the deployment error as mentioned in the below.
even though with error, the wrong version of the par file with extension .err was saved in the PCD folder strcture, and original file also still exists. now i wanted to remove the wrong version of the file from PCD, what is the procedure to delete the wrong version, here in administration console i found one button clean , but i could not able to locate the wrong file version , only original right version showing up in the clean dropdown??
Can u tell me what is the procedure to edit the PAR file manually after downloaded to the desktop, rather than going edit thru NWDS??
if we need to upload the PAR file after changes, do we need to delete the original PAR file before we upload the new version of the same PAR or it will be automatically overwrite the original file with the same name??
Still i am getting confusion, please let me know how to edit the PAR file manally and how to upload the PAR file with out any isse while uploading it in the portal thru system admin->administration console??
Any pointers in this regard would be the great help to me??

    Hi Shusil,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have one more dought here.
