Hi all,
I connected my phone to the PC and chose the Disk Drive option rather than charge or anything else. I find my phone under My Computer and I found all of my pictures and videos. The problem I'm having is that I can not find the most recent video that I want to download to my PC.
I went back to my phone and it's located in the same place as the other videos. I thought storage might have been an issue, since I keep getting that message if I try and email it to myself, so I deleted a handful of videos. I erased my history, I went into manage applications and cleared the data on the top items....I'm not sure why if I connect to the computer it doesn't show up...Any ideas?

When you select mass storage settings on your droid the computer you hook into shows as you stated a new drive letter for the phones storage. If you double click the drive letter it will show a list of folders. DCIM is photos, DATA, Lost.dir, I believe Videos as well.
If you click once on each video it will show the creation date of that file (video) in which case you can then grab the one you want to transfer to your computer.
However what I normally do weekly sometimes less often is to cut and copy to a folder on my desk top that matches the folder names on my cell phone. In my case I make it Spectrum, or Motorola Razr for my wife and then I simply delete all photos and video I am not using for Contact Names. I leave my music alone even though I have them all sent to cloud storage ( Apple & Google) by using this technique I have loads of space, in fact I have 32GB Micro SD cards in both Droids and I would never use this much space
You can also set your computer to show the full path from the folder and files options so you can see all dates and times of your files. This may also be what you need for id purposes.

What video do you mean? From an icloud backup? If so, you can only restore everything, you can't selectively restore just some of the data.
Otherwise, video does't sync to icloud.

The DVD recorder I'm referring to is one I've use for years. It is not attached to my aging iMac in any way. I simply play the video from my camcorder (mini-dv tape based Canon HV20) into the DVD recorder and create a DVD that can be played in any DVD player. I can only do minimum editing so what goes in is what I get. This has been fine for creating dupes of the various things I shoot.
If I buy a new iMac (21 inch), I'd like to be able to download the video to the iMac through iMovie, work with it to whatever degree I wish, and burn it to a DVD that can also be played in any DVD player -- or to use as a master to dupe copies.
What I'm understanding from you and others is that this would be possible if Apple had included iDVD in the software that comes with the iMac, or if I purchase the iLife Family Pack, or buy the correct version of Toast. I'm hoping I can persuade Apple to sell me an iMac with iDVD installed.
Essentially I want to move from a basic process of creating DVD copies to the more sophisticated process of creating one from an iMac.

That is a Windows option - not a phone option. You need to modify your Autoplay options on your PC

Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

Transfer photos/videos from MacBook Pro to External Hard Drive (not iPhoto)

I've read all the other threads regarding how to transfer photos from iPhoto to an external hard drive (i.e., format your EHD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)), however, I do not believe my situation applies.
In short, I download new photos/videos from my iPhone to my MacBook Pro twice - in two distinct methods. The first method (and the one I favor) is to use the Preview Application to download photos to the MyPictures folder. Once this is done, I revise the name of each photo so that I can tell not only the date but also the event. Once this is done, I then also download the same photos to my iPhoto Library via iPhoto but I don't make any revisions to the file names (I don't know why I continue to download photos into my iPhoto Library since I don't like iPhoto, but I guess I feel like it is a "backup" of sorts).
My problem now is that my internal hard drive is filling up and I must transfer some photos to an External Hard Drive (EHD). I thought the simplest solution was to transfer my iPhoto Library since I don't really use it anyway and many people advise to simply format my EHD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled). However, if I do that, my understanding is that I will not be able to then transfer the files to a PC, if I decide in the future to do so. The solution, as suggested by others, was to then format my EHD as "ExFAT". However, if I do that, my understanding is that iPhoto will not function properly.
So my questions include the following:
1. Is there any harm in simply deleting my entire iPhoto Library from my internal hard drive to free up space since I believe I have been downloading all my pictures in a separate location anyway (MyPictures folder)? Or will deleting my iPhoto Library somehow delete these other photos (even though they are not named similarly)?
2. If I decided that transferring my iPhoto Library to a Mac OS Extended (Journaled)-formatted EHD was the best solution, what would my options be if in the future I wanted to transfer the photos to a PC? Is that option lost forever? Or could I somehow transfer the photos from the EHD to the MacBook Pro, then re-format the EHD to ex-FAT, copy back the photos from the MacBook Pro to the ex-FAT-formatted EHD and then transfer the photos/videos to my PC? Is there an alternative better solution?
3. Any other suggestions?

1 - no - if you do not like or use iPhoto then yu have no need for the iPhoto library - it is sefl contained and deleting it will not affect anything except iPhoto
2 - you can export photos form iPhoto to any format drive - it is only the iPhoto library that has drive format restrictions
Reformatting a drive totally erases it so you can not simply change the format of a drive without removing everything on it
3 - deciede what you want - if you use iPhoto then it has no cross platform capability and nothing you do in iPhoto is directly of use on a PC - you have to export from iPhoto to a volume that a PC can read
Since you do not like or use iPhoto and it will not do what you want I have no idea why you are messing with it at all

You can only add music to iTunes Match from your iTunes library on your computer, not from your iOS device. If you have music on your iPad that is not on your computer, you'll have to import it to your iTunes library on your computer to add it to iTunes Match.
Music purchased from the iTunes store can be imported directly to your iTunes library by authorizing your computer for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase the music (in Store>Authorize This Computer), then connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases. Music from other sources will require using 3rd party software to transfer to your computer, such as Touch Copy.

Are downloaded photos safe from malware/spyware?

I'm getting ready to set up a website in which I will download photos from a hosting site to my Macbook. Before now, I trusted everyone/site I downloaded photos/info from. Now, is there any reason for me to be concerned about malware/spyware when downloading photos from this hosting site, which is very reputable? All the photos will be in .jpg format. Most will probably come from PCs, however. I have read some previous posts that malware/spyware is very unlikely on real .jpg-format photos, but I'm just checking.

What is the site from where you are downloading photos? If they come with malware (I doubt it), it won't affect to your computer because they would come with Windows viruses, so your Mac won't be affected by these files.
