Download stalls halfway through won't restore after

Trying to install the latest version of software for 4th Gen IPOD touch, and it stalls halfway through.  Now will not restore the IPOD or install the software.

ok....after a couple hours of posting this i did eventually get an error messege. Why it didn't come up the other 10 times i tried to restore my phone im not sure.
Anyhow in troubleshooting the error messege it said something about possibly going to another computer with a current version of itunes on it and trying the process from there.
I did that and it worked. Now i am just trying to recover all the applications that i had downloaded as they are important in what i do IRL but at least i have a working phone again in which to call tech support if i need to.

  • Download stopped halfway through

My song stopped downloading halfway through and just keeps saying retry. I just want my song!

Welcome to the Apple Community Jessica.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option which is revealed in the iTunes app on your iOS device by tapping the more button at the bottom of the screen.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Faces stops scanning halfway through, won't list any photos at all.

Just bought iLife '09, so I'm a little behind the curve. I started the faces scan, but accidentally closed the program halfway through it, so now, when I start the program, I just have the blank corkboard template.
I deleted the face.db and face_blob.db files to force it to rescan, but now it just gets halfway through and gives up, sending me back to the blank corkboard template. I don't know what to try next, I don't want to delete anything important. My library is crazy unorganized from being like 6 years old, so that might be affecting things. All my software is updated.
    Anyone have solutions here?

    Greetings,
    Love the name.
Is your iPhoto Library stored in the usual location? (User > Pictures > iPhoto Library)
How much free space do you have on your computer?
Ensure all your software is up to date (Apple Menu > Software Update).
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
Home > Library > Caches (I remove the whole folder. It will be re-generated upon restart.)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
Go into iPhoto and name someone in your library and then see if their face appears when you click on "Faces".
If the issue persists try rebuilding your iPhoto Library following this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638. Use the bottom 3 rebuild options.
If the issue persists after the rebuild, close iPhoto, remove the 2 faces database files again, open iPhoto and then leave iPhoto open until the status arrows next to Faces stop spinning. THEN name someone and go back to the cork board to check it out.
    Hope that helps.

  • Windows 7 - Downloads stopping halfway through

I recently downloaded windows 7 and it is running well on my computer. However, itunes will not complete downloads (I was testing with a video podcast) - they start and then stop halfway through, and give error 3259. I have run the connectivity diagnostic, checked my firewall, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and it still doesn't work. My anti virus program is AVG - could this be affecting the downloads? Is there anything else that I can do?

Very similar issue for me. I copied my Vista profile to my server and installed Windows 7 Pro. Reinstalled all apps, copied data from old profile back into new one. iTunes loaded with everything EXACTLY as it was before (right down to playcount on songs and everything). For several days, no problem downloading video podcasts. A few days ago, that changed. Out of the blue, it would disconnect me 50-80% of the way through the download and give me error 3259 (& 9006 once). I've read online how it's due to firewall settings, antivirus and old iTunes. I was running iTunes 9.0.1 and it would not permit me to update to 9.0.2 so I downloaded it and installed on my own. Still have the problem. The firewall whitelisted iTunes and I opened up recommended ports as well. No change. I'm using AVG free so it doesn't have a firewall. With Vista, I used McAfee but then I had Windows 7 working fine with AVG and allowing downloads until this sudden change.
The recommended fixes DO NOT work. Changing firewall settings changes nothing. The antivirus has no firewall and no settings for any kind of whitelisting of iTunes anyways. Updating iTunes changes nothing. I can still download the podcasts manually through Firefox or using my Mac Mini running OS X Server (10.5). Given how it worked at one time, nothing changed, then it suddenly stopped, I'm at a loss.
I did get two to download today but I changed nothing before they started and then the third in line to download failed.
I haven't been on Apple discussions lately but since it is a forum, my background is entirely IT. It's how I make my living (troubleshooting in general). It's possible I have overlooked something but given the recommended fixes out there so far and all the variations on them that I have tried, it is unlikely. The issue must be caused by something other than firewall settings, antivirus or iTunes version. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open. I'm getting tired of using Windows LiveSync to keep podcasts updated on this Windows 7 laptop.
Any help finding the actual fix for this problem is greatly appreciated.

  • My iphone 5s won't restore after my phone cut off during an automatic download of ios 8.

A call dropped while talking on the phone. From that point on I was unable to use the phone, internet, voicemail, etc.  All other functions and programs were still working, email (through airwatch), texting, calendar, contacts, etc.  At the time ios 8 was downloading.  After download, through my computer ( without the computer it was giving me a download time of 16 hours) completed I was unable to install the the update and still lacked phone capability.  I restarted and still nothing.  I backed up the phone to I tunes, at which point ios 8 was then installed to itunes on my computer and have since been unable to restore the iphone.
My phone just finished trying to restore again.  It ran through all of the motions of veryfing with apple, restoring the phone, verifying the restore, extracting files, and then quit on the final firmware phase with an error message that reads: The iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3).  The first time it failed it recognized the phone name but now shows up with "iphone" as the name and does not even list the serial number.
    Any suggestions? Thank You.

Is your old backup still listed in iTunes/Preferences/Devices?
    Also shown in this article:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
You might have to deactivate Find my iPhone in iCloud before you can restore it.

  • HT1766 My iPhone 4S has been wiped after downloading ios 6 and won't restore back-up

I tried downloading ios 6 today and once it got to the end of the installation it said an error had occurred then next thing I know my phone (4S) is restoring itself to factory settings and now my backup will not install on it. Help please?

    Hi Paulski54,
Siri can definitely be turned off.  I found the instructions here:
iPhone User Guide for iOS 6.1
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
    Page 39 says this:
    Setting options for Siri
Turn Siri on or off: Go to Settings > General > Siri.
Note: Turning Siri off resets Siri, and Siri forgets what it’s learned about your voice.
    I hope this helps!

  • Iphone won't restore after last update error -34

AFter this last update, my 3GS won't do a full restore. It keeps saying that iTunes was interrupted and gives error (-34). Any help please??

I just got the iPhone 4S today, and previously had the 3GS. I started my iPhone as a "new" one in the store, but then I lost all my app data. So, I thought I'd restore it and backup from a version of my old iPhone. Before it would restore, it had to download 5.0.1. As it restored (and this has happened twice), the progress bar in iTunes made it about 99% of the way across, and on the phone it stopped at about 2/3rds. I checked the trash and the 5.0.1 file wasn't there (just 5.0 from my old phone). What can I do?

  • IPhone images won't restore after phone reset

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me as my wife's iPhone completely froze up after synching with the latest version of iTunes. In the end, the only thing she could do was re-set the iPhone, thereby of course losing everything. Reconnecting to her laptop restored music and most apps, it seems she has to re-download the other apps again direct to the phone.
Now the problem is images. There is an ipod cache directory on the laptop Pictures directory, and in this are folders labelled F00, F01 etc.. and a "Photo Database" file.
In each of the Fnn directories is a series of files, called Txxx.ithmb, each of which is about 1,500KB. Doing a backup from the laptop indicates there are about 2900 files overall.Altogether there is about 3GB in this folder, so it looks to be a lot of space.
Pointing iTunes to the directory containing all this and synching, still results in zero images being found.
She went to the local Apple store for help, to be told these are not the images, but then elsewhere I have read that these are the full files, and this proprietary format contains three different resolution images. If the images taken on the iPhone are not here, where are they?
Finally, how on earth do we convince iTunes to recognize these files and imporrt them again?
Sorry to be thick but losing everything thanks to the latest iTunes was rather catastrophic! Any help/ideas/suggestions greatfully received...
The photo files were a mix of photos taken on the iPhone and images previously uploaded from the laptop.
    Cheers
    Chipontheroad

You should ALWAYS make sure that everything on your iphone is also on your computer BEFORE you do any update/reset/restore/etc.
You should be importing you photos taken with iphone to your computer regularly as you would from any digital camera, most especially before an update/restore/etc.
You can try restoring from backup.  If this does not find the pics, then they are gone.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Photos that were synced to your iphone from your computer are not included in the backup at all as they should be on your computer ( they came from there in the first place), as well as in your regular backup of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.

  • Download paused halfway through

While downloading the Jack Johnson album In Between Dreams, the last song Constellation got stalled almost half way through. I've tried both restarting and and using itunes on my laptop, neither of which has worked. I am in a bunch as I am living the country for 5 weeks so i need this resolved pretty quickly.
    intel imac 1.83   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I am stuck with the same problem - downloads always stall and tehre is no facility to start where it left off. Exactly what did you do to resolve your problem?
I am pretty certain that the issue is my internet connection (128/64 asdl ine) as the same Mac has been able to access the ITMS and download successfully from other connections. I cant change my provider (its the only one available) but are there any other changes that I can make to get over this issue?

  • My Ipod Touch won't restore after full reset!!! please help fast!!!

My Ipod touch 3g 8gb on 3.1.3 got some major problems recently. When I wanted to take a snapshot it just doesn't appear in photos. When I wanted to save an image from Safari it doesn't appear in photos. Then I got fed up and pressed Reset Settings. That finished and the photos problem wasn't solved. Still. I chose Reset all settings and content. I confirmed it and Ipod Touch was doing it for like 20-25min. After that it just won't start up. I am trying to restore it right now with iTunes and again to 3.1.3 (3.1.2 or other doesn't work). I clicked restore, everything went fine but now, it is stuck at like 95% and won't move. I really don't know what I did wrong and what I have to do to fix it. Any suggestions?

  • Ipod Touch won't restore after memory cleared

    Hi,
i have an ipod touch 2g that was on 3.1.2 software, and i needed to clear memory and start over. i clicked the option "erase all content and settings" in the settings menu of the ipod.
after it had finished clearing the memory i plugged the ipod back into the computer and put it into the mode with the cable and the itunes icon (the mode that it was in when it came in the box) after it went into that mode it showed up on itunes as a "device that needs to be restored", so i clicked restore, it extracted firmware, and now has been stuck on "waiting for ipod" for 10 hours, with the ipod's screen showing an apple and an empty loading bar (has stayed empty for 10 hours)
    anyone help?
    thanks in advance

    Welcome to the discussions,
Did you try to connect in recovery mode? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If this does not work, locate the *.ipsw firmware file on your computer and copy it to a save place and delete the original file, leave the folder empty and don't delete it. This will make itunes get a new copy from Apple instead of using the one stored on your computer, maybe it got damaged. Then try again to restore.

  • Z10 won't restore after changing BB ID

I had to wipe my z10 after changing mail addresses and forgetting my password.
I did a full back up prior to the wipe, created a new BB ID, and tried to restore. But I just get a message saying that the BB ID for all my data is different and the restore fails. What now?

Do you now have a new BB ID or did you just change the password ?,
At the top of Link software, are you signed in ?
If you have different BB ID's you will not be able to restore.
Also you would not be able to retrieve your BBM contacts and messages.

  • It won't restore after Updating to IOS 6

After updating to IOS 6 my ipod shows the following message constantly "itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode you must restore this ipod", I need HELP!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
