Download starts but freezes up at around 20%

No matter what I do the download keeps freezing up in the same spot. I've run as admin, rebooted, cleared cache but it still stops at the same point. yes, i've tried saving to desktop and the default, didn't work. I'd download it on my mac but it only will download the mac version. I wish there was a direct link and not this download manager. anyone find what worked for them? thanks.

  • Download starts but then stops...

So I've read other forums and searched this website for one, but I still can't find the answer. Whenever I try to download the file it will start but then after some time get stuck on a percentage(different every time) and then stop all together. I've tried using different browsers and a download manager, I have plenty of storage space also. It still won't work
I've heard that this may have something to do with my internet and secruity? Or something? Can someone tell me how to fix that? My technical skills are very very low and this is the first time I've used a mac.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • HT201272 rented movie won't download - download starts but stops immediately

I rented a movie several weeks ago on our desktop computer.  I haven't watched it yet and want to watch it on my laptop (same Apple id and account).  My account in iTunes says I have an item to download and gives me a button to click to download, but when I do that the loading "ribbon" starts the working/scrolling thing briefly, but then pops back to the account window with the download prompt, with nothing having happened.  How can I get my movie to download?

    Hi Dangler19,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  If you are unable to watch your rented movie, you can report this to the iTunes Store by following this article:

  • Gingerbread download started but didn't finish...now I'm stuck

I saw the update available and started the download.  Unfortuantely I made the mistake of starting the download in a spot with poor service and the connection dropped.  Now, when I look for the update, my phone says that no updates are available.  The phone only downloaded part of the update and never installed anything.  But now I can't figure out how to either start the download over or continue it or what else I would have to do.  Any suggestions?

I guess sometimes patience really is best.  It suddenly kicked back into gear and started downloading on its own.  So I guess the solution to this one is to just wait.

  • I am trying to download Photoshop on my mac, the site says the download started but nothing happens...

I am trying to install the CC on my Mac because my desktop computer died on me. I logged in, selected photoshop ( or premiere, or after effects) and hit the download button. The site says download in progress but nothing happens. I have downloaded other software ( not adobe) and it worked fine...Any idea what is wrong? I am not a Mac person and I am kind of lost. Thanks!

  • G4 starts but freezes while trying to load

My G4 has been acting strangely lately - occasionally when I boot up, nothing lights up. Then, a few weeks ago, I booted up and it said the computer could not load. These were both temporary occurences... but last night I rebooted my computer after it crashed, and now it only loads so far as the Mac OX loading page, and freezes right at the very beginning of loading. I've tried this several times and nothing has changed. Can anyone please help me here? Is this a typical problem, and one that can be fixed?

here is a couple of links to look at which might help. http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/startupitems.html http://www.macfixit.com/ http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238

  • Did NOT download iOS8 but having cellular issues. What can I do?

I never downloaded iOS8, but just this morning (around 8am) I started having cellular issues. It keeps "Searching..." and never finding my network. Wi-fi works just fine. What gives?!
I saw the annoucements that they pulled the upgrade, and that people should downgrade to get their phones to work again. My problem is that I don't have anything to downgrade to, because I never downloaded iOS8.
Should I upgrade to iOS8 to get my network to work again?
