Download stopped error 8008

Purchased HD movie from iTunes Store. Keeps hanging up during download. Tried multiple downloads and single downloads with two movies, one rented, one purchased. Neither download finished. Any suggestions?

I am going through the same thing with two downloads. I opened a support ticket with support. They placed a new copy of each show for me to download and once again, got the same error. I bought 6 seasons of Psych over the weekend and all downloaded perfectly except these two episodes.
Years of buying TV shows and I never had trouble till now. The troubleshooting page wasn't helpful.

  • Download stopped error 8012

I am unbale to down load any purchased content to my Imac or Ipad every time I get stopped error 8012.  I can access the Itunes store and purchase items.
    Please help

That's either a network problem or a problem with your iTunes account. Try from a different network, if possible. If you connect through a proxy, disable it.

  • Download stopped (err = 8008)

I am trying to download the movie "Role Models", but I keep getting an error message. It tells me that part of the file may be corrupted, and to check for available downloads to download it again. That would be sweet if I didn't keep getting the same message over and over again. I am kind of ****** off because it already charged me 15$, any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Dear,
You usually get this error (err=8008) when you try to download an apps need a spacific port to be open in your connection if you know what I mean.
Anyway, to solve this problem you need either to try to download the same app from another Internet access like (3G, broadband) or even you can go to some of your friends and use their Internet access to do it.
Option 2: You need to open the spacific port needed for that app you'e trying to download.
Option 3: Try to change the DNS server in your route, that's will work some time.

  • Music Video Download Stopped - Error 54?

    Hey everybody!
I was just downloading a music album the other day when all of the sudden several music videos (yes, several, you already know which album I downloaded, right?) stopped downloading after a few kilobytes/megabytes. The rest of the album, including most of the videos, went through without a problem.
I keep getting the following message when hitting "check for available downloads": "There was a problem downloading XY. An unknown error occured (-54). Please check that the network connection is active and try again."
Now my network connection is more than active. I also tried to flush the download cache (itunes -> Downloads) but there is nothing in it. So I wonder where the files might be cached since each of the videos that won't download has already been downloaded partially. Is there any way to reset the download?
    What do?

    Howdy,
Sounds like your hard drive or partition is full!
    Thanks
    Tim

  • I am trying to download a TV episode and am continually getting an error 8008 message about half way through and the show then stops downloading

I am trying to download a TV episode and I am continally getting an error 8008 message and the download stops in the middle of the show.  Can anyone tell me what 8008 is? and what can it do to fix it?

I am having this same issue. It is happening with ALL downloads now, including the software update for iPhone and several television episodes.
Note: I have already deleted the contents of the "downloads" sub-folder in the iTunes folder and temporarily de-activated virus protection.
Anyone have any ideas on how to combat this error=8008 "part of the file may be corrupted" message?

  • Error 8008 while downloading a purchase

2 weeks ago I purchased a movie at the Istore. it started downloading as normal. about half way through it stopped giving me an +*"error 8008"+*. it indicated that parts of the file were corrupt and told me to restart the download. I did this to no avail. I then went to support over a week ago via e-mail. they responded telling me to do what I had already done. (I dont think they actually READ the emails they get). I responded to them but they have not replied further and it has been over a week. this is my first attempt at help with apple and so far it has been unimpressive. hopefully someone out here can help. I try to re-buy the movie but it wont let me saying I already own it. I try to delete it but it will not delete. I try to drag it to the trash can, but it wont go there.
    HELP would be appreciated

There's a long thread about this with some suggestions that worked.

  • Download stops and I get err = 8008

I purchased the TV Show "Fallen" and I've tried 5x's to download it. I've clicked "Checked Purchases" as iTunes advised, and still can't download the entire show. The error message says stopped (err=8008)
What can I do? Will it fix itself?

Interesting. You are the first Mac person I've run across that has had this problem. Until now, I had assumed it was exclusively a "iTunes on Windows" issue. Just curious--what type of Mac do you have? Is it Intel-based? Also, can you verify a few other questions? We should be able to figure this out.
    1) What is the path of the iTunes temporary directory on Mac OSX 10.5?
    2) Did you erase the entire Download directory or just the corrupted partial download?
    3) If you erased the directory, did it properly recreate itself after you retriggered the download? Can you still download other things? (You could try the "Free Single of the Week".)
    4) After you erased the file and went back into iTunes to trigger the download, does the file start redownloading from 0% (e.g. moving slowly as it builds back up?) Or does fairly quickly skip right back to the place where it is stuck?
    5) How much free disk space do you have on your Mac? (I'm guessing this isn't the problem since you were able to download a subsequent episode.)
Answers to these questions will help, but if I had to guess now without them, it sounds like you still may not have erased the corrupted partial download yet, and if that is the case, would explain why the download keeps getting hung at the same point.
If you are desperate to resolve the issue sooner rather than later, if you still have one of your five iTunes computer authorizations available, you could authorize a different computer, download the show, sync it to your iPod, and then use the option in iTunes to resync it back from your iPod into your primary computer. (If you need help with that, search for "Moving iTunes Store purchases to another computer" in the iTunes help.) Good luck!

  • Apple TV Download Error 8008

    Hi,
I just rented Transformers HD through Apple TV and it started downloading, but then it stopped and gave "Download Error 8008".
No matter how many times I click Check for Purchases it won't resume downloading.
And I know the problem has nothing to do with firewalls or internet connection because I can watch YouTube and browse the store.
Normally with iTunes you just delete the relative temporary download file and then check for purchases. But this is not possible on Apple TV.
Does anyone have any solution to this? or is it $4.99 gone.
    Thanks,
    H.A.

Hashman -- Sorry about your issue. I too have had the same error on downloading an HD movie via the AppleTV. I started the download then went to bed, woke up the next AM to find the download failed. Unfortunately no amount of "Checking for Downloads" in the Settings menu fixed it, in fact it's still there, not fully downloaded.
If you use your Mac to download and it fails, there is actually a process by which you can delete the partial file and restart the download, I have found this does work but ONLY on your Mac proper, not the AppleTV. I did follow the "Report a Problem" process and have yet to receive a credit, perhaps it's pending I simply don't know. Hopefully this will get fixed soon, otherwise I sympathize and wish you luck! Sorry.

  • TS1424 Star Trek - into the darkness, Download error 8008

I am unable to download this movie, it stops at 110MB with file is corrupt, try downloading again. Ive tried this 5 times now and ever time it gets to 110MB it stops? the Itunes extras for the film downloaded perfect about 2.3GB size. Ive even deleted the folder where it partly downloaded to and tried again only to find at 110MB it stops with download error 8008
    Any one else having problems?

Still not working for me and after 1 live chat and 30 min call with support they have told me they will "refund my account in 2-3 working days and try again to download it again in a few weeks"!!! A few weeks!!!!
They put me through to Tech Support who said it may be a fault with my mac and was transferred 3 times! Told them I'm away to buy the DVD as it will be faster to get than their help!

  • TS1424 Can't download a movie in iTunes. Error 8008. Anyone know how to fix?

I've tried a few different times to download a movie in iTunes -- it stops at the same point each time -- gives error 8008.
I'm trying to figure out how to get tech help (without waiting for the iTunes Store receipt to do so). Still searching, but open to help meanwhile.
    Thanks,

I tried rebooting, deleting the half-downloaded file and followed instruction to "check check for available downloads and try again," to no avail.

  • TV shows stod downloading: Error = 8008

I'm trying to download a TV show into my itunes, and some how it stops in the middle and I get an error = 8008. So what's this error about? What can I do to fix this?

Good grief, it has already been answered elsewhere.

  • Download error 8008

I have purchased 4 movies, since iTunes was undated, error 8008 appears and stops the download.
How can I either, 1. remove these purchases and start again, or 2. overcome the error to continue the download...
    Any help please....

I stumbled upon another solution to the 8008 problem. Currently all my movies and music reside on an external HD. My laptop HD was near capacity less than 500 MB. When I was downloading a movie recently I noticed my laptop HD capacity fluctuating. I continued to receive the 8008 download error. Upon clearing some files on my laptop HD to < 1GB, deleted the tmp download folder for the movie (on my external HD) the download went through no problem. It appears that iTunes may be using a temporary cache on the main HD even if all your files on on an external.
