Download to iphoto from Canon EOS 20D

All my previous Canon cameras enabled me to import into iphoto. Now with 20D the Canon software uses image browser & EOS utility & I dont know how to download from these to iphoto. Grateful if someone could tell me how. Thanks.

Go to iPhoto>Preferences. There's an option called "Connecting Cameras Open:" Choose iPhoto instead of the other programmes. The next time when you connect a camera iPhoto should open automatically.

Having problems tranferring from Canon EOS 20D. Although Apple say it is compatable all I get is Unsupported device. Any Idea's...

    No worries Paul & Sam,
Unplug everthing, soft reset your iPod, connect the camera connector to your card reader and put your card in the reader before you plug it in the iPod, then connect it, let the iPod find everything and then import photo's if this doesn't work try this below:
The Belkin Reader i've got has this model number. F5U249ea if you've got the same one, it's powered off the iPod, the 60gb model should be no different. Have you got the latest iPod update installed. If you have all i can say make sure everything on your iPod is still on your computer, completely restore your iPod with the latest iPod update, then connect everything together again, if this still does'nt work, i'm not sure what you can do? i'll try and find some more info for you but try everything i've said first and i'm sure you'll get everything to work fine.
Let me know how you get on, i'll try and figure out what happened

  • Importing CR2/RAW from Canon EOS 20d

    Hi!
I shoot RAW-files with my camera and recently bought Lightroom. My problem is that I can´t import my RAW files directly from the camera (Canon EOS 20d). I open the File meny < Import photos from device, but Lightroom can´t find any pictures on my camera although I know there are RAW files there. When I first import my photos to my harddrive and then import them into Lightroom it works fine but I wanna skip the extra import-step and just take the photos directly from my camera into Lightroom. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
(I have updated Lightroom to 2.4 and uses the most updated firmware to my camera.)
    /J

Ok, thanks. I looked at other similar problems on the forum and they also recommend a card reader so I guess I just have to go and buy me one. If anyone do know a solution to the problem without a card reader I would be very glad to hear about it. I mean, the Canon EOS 20d is a pretty common camera although it is a "little" old by now. But like you also mentioned, it could also be the OS update...
    Friendly regards

  • Canon EOS 20D, iPhoto, and import

To hook a Canon EOS 20D to iPhoto, you must set its communications mode to "PTP"
    Here's how:
    1. Press the "Menu" button on the back of the camera.
    2. Scroll down to "Communication"
    3. Click the "Set" button.
    4. Scroll to "PTP" (and not the default, "Normal")
    5. Click the "Set" button again.
    6. Click the "Menu" button again to exit the menu.
Now iPhoto will recognize and import from the 20D as it should.
I post this because I just got the thing to work! Hope it helps someone.

Use the Canon software that came with your camera to download photos to your computer, review those and select the ones you want in iPhoto then use iPhoto to import the wanted photos.

  • I have Photoshop Elements 9. I downloaded the plug in 6.0 and it works on the RAW files from Canon EOS 60D, but not with Canon EOS 70D. I cannot download higher versions of plug in, because I have Windows Vista and it is not supported.

You could try using the DNG converter 8.7 on Windows vista:

<Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7>

  • How open raw from canon eos 70D in elements 11

I cannot open raw from canon eos 70D in photoshop elements 11. Help me please.

Your PSE is too old—the camera was released after a newer version of software was available and Adobe only adds new camera support to the newest version of software.
Specifically, the 7D Mark II needs ACR 8.7 and PSE12 can only be updated to ACR 8.5.
    Your choices are to:
Use the DNG Converter 8.7 or newer to create DNGs from the CR2s and those DNGs will open in the older version of ACR that comes with PSE12, OR
Buy the newer version of Element 13 that can be updated to a new enough Adobe Camera Raw plugin.
The DNG Converter is available from the Adobe Updates page:
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
And the newer version of Elements is available from the Adobe Products page:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software.html
Another option would be to use Lightroom 5.7 or newer and use Edit in Photoshop Elements from LR once most of your raw adjustments are done, for any final touches in Elements.
For any of these choices you’d want to download the latest updates and run the software in trial mode to make sure your computer is compatible before paying anything.
BTW, I have the 7D Mark II and like it very much, having upgraded from an older Digital Rebel, but I’m not that thrilled with the in-camera JPG processing so always use Adobe products for raw development.

  • Import photos to Photoshop Elements 9 from Canon EOS 500D

Lately I'm having problem with importing photos from Canon EOS 500D. Elements recognise the camera and return numbers of photos and so on correctly but when I hit 'Get media' nothing happens. The dialogframe stalls and I have to kill it via Windows Activity center. If I copy the files from camera into a file on the computer and the import from there it works ok and the same if I put the memorystick into a cardreader. i have also a Canon PowerShot G9 and there is no problem importing from that camera.
Where is the problem, in my Canon EOS 500D or in Photoshop Elements 9?
Ver of Photoshop Elements 9: 9.0.3.
Firmwareversion of Canon EOS 500D: 1.1.0.
Windows version : Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit version, servicepack 1.
    Regards
    Ingvar

If you open the Organizer and press Ctrl+G that will launch the photo downloader.
Is your 500D recognized as a device when connected to the computer?

  • Import video from canon eos 550d

What settings should be FCP7 to successfully import .mov from Canon eos 550d?
I would like video without the noise and recoil.
    Tnx

550...that's the T2i, right? Downloading the EOS Log and Transfer plugin, and hacking it, is one way:
    http://lfhd.net/2010/04/04/log-and-transfer-for-canon-dslrs/
Magic Bullet Grinder to convert to ProRes is another:
    http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/products/all/magic-bullet-grinder/
    Or Compressor.
No matter what, you need to convert the footage to ProRes for editing:
    #51 - Canon 5D MkII / Canon 7D footage into FCP
Shane's Stock Answer #51 - how do you bring in footage from the Canon 5D and 7D cameras into FCP to edit?
You need to convert all of the Canon 5D MkII footage from the H.264 format that it records, to ProRes 422 (ProRes HQ is unnecessary...no quality difference) Yes, the file sizes get drastically larger. H.264 is an acquisition and delivery format, not an editing one.
You can use the Canon EOS Log and Transfer plugin that works with the 1D, 5D and 7D cameras. This plugin is great because it brings in the camera's TIME OF DAY as timecode, instead of starting each clip at 00:00:00:00 like Compressor or other conversion software will do.

Running Aperture Trial 3.1.2  all updates completed.
May have solved one problem & got another!
I can now import RAW images by selecting 'Raw' rather than 'Raw + L' on camera menu. This leaves me with all large files - potential future storage problem.  Looking into this.
    Thanks for reply though

  • 1080p30 .mov files from canon eos 5DMarkII in Final cut express 4.0.1

    Hi everybody.
i need some help to import HD vidéo .mov files from Canon Eos 5DMarkII in final cut express.
The files is in 1080p30 (h264) like avchd but in the final cut configuration i have only 50i and 60i option in HDV and AVCHD
Final cut necessity to do a render (5h for 15min on my G5) and the movement quality is not the same.
Anybody have a idea to import Progressive files in final cut ?
maybe they have an update with new avchd 1080p codec in configuration ?
or i need final cut pro...?
    Thanks in advance
and sorry for my english...i'm french

There is no good solution for working with this camera in FCE. It's 30fps progressive. There is no true video format that is 30fps. This is something Canon was cobbled together for this stills camera.
You can use MPEG Streamclip to convert the material to QuickTime using the Apple Intermediate Codec at 1920x1080. I think that's what it shoot. You should check the camera manual to confirm it shoots 1920 and not 1440.
The problem is the frame rate. You can convert it to 29.97fps or to 25fps. 25fps conforms to the European frame rate, but I don't know how well Streamclip will do this conversion. You also need to make sure the material is not interlaced by Streamclip.
The other problem is that FCE handles 1080 as an interlaced format, because for production it's supposed to be an interlaced format, at least in the formats, HDV and AVCHD, that FCE works with. You can set your sequence properties to have no field dominance, which should prevent it interlacing during compositing of any effects.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.
