Download-west times out from our corporate network

When we try to access documentation or software, oracle.com re-routes to download-west.oracle.com and that times out for us from the corporate network:
"The connection has timed out
The server at download-west.oracle.com is taking too long to respond."
But it seems to work from internet and some other corporate network. Is there any firewall rule restricting access?

No...try using download-east or download-uk instead until the problem is resolved.
Cheers, OTN

  • 8g touch updated 4.2.1, problems synching apps and music. gives multiple errors; device times out, internal device errors, network times out, duplicate file, too many files open. itunes diagnostics ok. what to do?

have an 8g ipod touch which has had problems trying to play games and downloading update 4.2.1. went to the apple store who kindly downloaded the software update but now can't synch and generates multiple error messages; device times out, internal device error, network times out, duplicate file and too many files open etc etc. have latest i tunes download and diagnostic test ok. what can i do?

Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

  • Can i access my data on time capsule from some other network

can i access my data on time capsule from some other network that is my data at home from office over internet

There is plenty of info out there if you google..
Here is a summary I just put into another thread.
Remote access has been added back into iCloud that was in MobileMe..
Read the info on setting it up from cloud service.. BTMM.
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/back-to-my-mac/
If you want to do it without the cloud service, you have one major issue.. the public IP for WAN..
The internal IP of the TC.. which will default to 10.0.1.1 btw.. is irrelevant. It is the IP of the WAN which you use to access the TC over the internet. And here you have a problem.. the TC does not include dyndns service. So unless you have a static IP address from your ISP, this will cause you grief.
(If it is offered by your ISP.. get a static IP.. that eliminates all the issues.. and is far superior. Even dyndns service has issues if your public IP rotates too often. It is generally an extra cost item and requires a business account but some ISP offer it cheap or even free.. I joined an ISP that offered static ip for free because it gives me the ability to remote access my network without all the hassles you will see below.)
There are ways around it.. setting up your own domain for instance.
    http://dyn.com/support/airport-time-capsule-with-dynamic-dns/
But it is easier to simply use a different router.. almost all of them have dyndns service available.. place the TC behind the router in bridge and forward port 548 TCP to it.
This is a bit old but still relevant.
    http://gigaom.com/apple/access-your-time-capsule-over-the-internet/
Note .. there is no ftp, http, ssh (there is actually but it isn't accessible), or any other service to allow connection other than AFP.. so you must use a Mac in remote location to access the TC.
The setup for the two methods is slightly different in the TC.. in the first instance, you need to turn on WAN access via disk sharing page in the manual setup.
In the second case you do not need this.
Remember security and put strong passwords on the disk. There are still security questions about this.
If security is important.. there is a third and better (IMO) method and that is vpn.. you will need to buy a vpn router as TC also missed out on that.. establish a vpn with the main router and that will allow you access to your network.. you will also then be able to use SMB remotely not just AFP.
Also if this office is a large company they should be running a firewall, which would block your access to home. You should check your IT admin people for what is allowed.. generally the only acceptable method is vpn otherwise you can drag viruses and trojans right into the network without the firewall catching them.

  • IOS 4.3 download fails - times out.

I've not been able to download iOS 4.3 from iTunes. It times out within 5 mins. Apple support helped troubleshoot. I uninstalled iTunes + 4 other modules. Restarted computer and reinstalled iTunes. We lowered security on router. I disabled Norton 360 antivirus and firewall, updated iTunes, sp3 in WindowsXP, checked security options in Internet Tools, etc. The next step in our troubleshooting was to uninstall Norton 360 and try downloading iOS 4.3 again. Before doing that, I thought I'd ask if anyone else was having trouble downloading iphone update and could point to a solution without uninstalling Norton. The file download times-out within appx 5 minutes. Thanks.

The problem is that the software is downloaded, but because the file is so large, the processing time required to complete the scanning of the file and subsequent renaming from the temporary download to the saved file name, takes than iTunes allows and it times out.
What I've done is find another site for downloading the file (which might not be available for several weeks after the official availability on the Apple web site), then download it directly to the the appropriate Apple folder on my computer (which you'll have to locate yourself via trying with iTunes first), then go back into iTunes and it will ask if you want to run that downloaded file.

  • Slow music download, then times out

I am now on my third Nano in 3 weeks, due to faults on the others, and I'm having similar problems with this one, when I connect the nano it starts to auto update the songs from my playlist, but after about 10-15 tracks, the ipod and pc just freeze for about 5 mins, then the nano disconnects from the pc. If I try an update it takes a further 5 mins, but then freezes again and disconnects. I am using a usb 2.0, so download speed should and used to be ok, since updating to 1.1.1 everything seems to have gone wrong. Can anybody offer any support and answers to this problem?

Have restored nano, still no difference, this has solved the first problem, but download still slow and times out before finishing playlist, have not tried another cable or pc, as I do not have another cable or pc, but have tried different usb ports, all the same outcome. This pc and cable worked fine prior to the 1.1.1 update, the day I updated eveything went wrong, so I believe it's more likely to be the update, rather than the hardware!

  • Access your TIme Capsule from a different network?

Okay, I've been looking everywhere for a guide or how-to to do this, but my searches have been more or less fruitless, coming across outdated, incomplete or incompetent so-called "guides", so I thought I'd finally post a question myself, and see if anyone has actually been successful in doing this.
What I want to do is be able to do is access all the files stored on my Time Capsule from anywhere (using accounts and/or passwords), provided I have an internet connection. I use my Time Capsule as an external hard drive, and it's great at home, but I have a lot of music, movies, photos etc that I don't have space for on my MacBook, so being able to connect to my Time Capsule from other locations would be awesome. I have seen many guides and how-to's, but no matter how closely I follow the steps, it never seems to work. If anyone has had any success using one of the guides, feel free to post the link below.
I am running the latest firmware on the Time Capsule (7.5.2) - the serial number is 6F01208ZAQG if that helps, the latest version of Airport Utility (5.5.2), my Time Capsule is connected to the internet via a Thomson TG585 v7 router (via Ethernet cable), I am on a MacBook running OS X 10.6.5, which is connected wirelessly to the Time Capsule, and if it makes any difference I am in New Zealand.
Any information would help, but if you're going to say "it doesn't work" or something not-so-helpful like that, could you please give a reason? I'm tired of you pessimists shooting everyone down.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ryan

    Welcome to the discussion area!
It's been some time since I have used the "feature" to access files on the Time Capsule over the internet, so I can't remember all the details from 12-18 months ago. Some specifics I do remember:
    1) You must have a "static" IP address for your internet service from your ISP
    2) You must use a simple one port modem that will allow the Time Capsule to be the "main" router on the network
    3) You must use Mobile Me from Apple to set this up
However, I notice that Apple no longer talks about this feature on the newer Time Capsule literature online, so that might be a hint that it is no longer being supported.
When did have it working, even small file transfers took forever. The connection, if I was using wireless, was often lost before transfers could complete.
I haven't tried the "how to" in the article below because I no longer travel for my job, but it might be worth a look for a different approach if Mobile Me is no longer providing this service.

  • MS CRM 2011 session time out with our CBA

    Hi CRM Gurus,
can we have CRM website, session time out, with out implementing the CBA?
by default the ideal time out for the apppool is 20 minutes, still it does not have any impact.
is there any way to achieve the timeout for the CRM website and any impact for other things like outlook , email router etc if we do so?
    thanks in advance.

    Hi yes.sudhanshu
Look for the following registry key on a machine where this issue is occuring,
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\WebClient\Parameters\InternetServerTimeoutInSec
and increase the value, think it defaults to 30, and test .

  • Itunes downloads err time out or network reset...

    Dear Sir,
I have 15 available downloads in my Id account.
However, all of them can not be downloaded seccuessfully. and it feed back err 408 or err 3253.
There were problems downloading some purchased items.
For more information on the items that could not be downloaded, click below.
There was a problem downloading “IKEA Catalogue”.
    The server has timed out.
There was a problem downloading “[????]?????????????”.
    The server has timed out.
There was a problem downloading “Teddy Floppy Ear: The Race HD”.
    The network connection was reset.

It sounds like it's a network issue. Are they
limiting the amount of data you can stream? I would
    check with your network admin.
The sharing might be network, but the CDs hiccuping seems to be a different issue, yes? Don't know if THAT issue has something to do with the age of the computer and the CD drive, but it started happening just about the time the iTunes sharing interruptions started.

  • Mail server setting to accept forwards from (our selected) networks

I am in the process of moving our mail from 10.6.8 to 10.9.
In ServerAdmin.app there was a place to indicate authorized networks for forwarding. That option is not available in Server.app. I am slowly working through the settings and setup of more nuanced mail service than Server.app provides and can't figure out where this setting is made.
Anyone know which of the various bits of the mail service contains that setting?
    Is it
    -o mynetworks=127.0.0.0/8
in /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix/Master.cf where I would comma delimit my other networks in?
    Thanks.
    -Erich

Yes, it'd be nice if Server.app accepted an option key chord or some such to access additional settings.  The default Server.app GUI is unfortunately limited, so it's off to the command line.
    See the command:
    sudo serveradmin settings mail
for a list of the settings.
    You're after mail:postfix:mynetworks:_array_index
See this Krypted article for some more details.
You can use  postconf -n /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix to verify that the changes took, and here's a lower-level path into this same area.
