Download windows 7 for W530?

A long time ago I saw a post with a link to download windows 7 iso from lenovo to allow reintallation with lenovo drivers etc. for a W520.
I am about to recieve a new W530 (not the W540), and will bin the SSD it comes with and replace it witha 1TB M550 SSD.  I need to find a way to install windows on the M550. I dont have any cloning SW, and currently dont have a USB 3 caddy (have been waiting for weeks for one from ebay - have given up on it).
So If I could download windows 7, make an ISO, and install via DVD directly onto the new SSD that would be GREAT!
Anyone know of a link to this?
I am aware of the recovery partiotion which comes on the factory HD, but presume this can only be used to reinstall on the same original drive, not a new one, and have heard its not possible to create backup media from it (so not sure what use it is).

Hi there!
It sounds like you have a lot of detailed plans in store. I will give you a general answer concerning the Windows 7 question. It's a very late hour here in the States, but I love to help people by sharing my experience on this issue. Here is one way you can deal with your problem. But let me just preface by saying that whatever you're planning to do, Windows licensing issues are your responsibility. Use your best judgment. I assume the best of intentions when someone asks these types of questions and trust you will deal wisely and prudently with any possible Windows licensing concerns.
I assume you have a valid Windows 7 license (whether "C.O.A." or "O.A." sticker on the back of your laptop, Retail  key you have purchased, or your laptop originally came with Windows 7 or 8 installed by the manufacturer, Lenovo). I know on some of the newer models these days they try to hide the license key from the owner- but you may be able to find a copy of your Windows 7 product key using a "key viewer" program). When you have purchased a laptop with Windows 7 (or stinky Windows 8 and switched back to Windows 7), IMHO you have every right to the installation/ re-installation media. And I do not believe you should have to pay an exorbitant (ridiculously high) fee or go through a long, tedious process to re-install your operating system on your laptop, which you paid good money for.
There is a useful KnowledgeBase article here: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-7-Knowledge-Base/Win-7-product-key-is-not-working/ta-p/1035403  (But it was simply taken from my long post here:  http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-7-Discussion/Win-7-Product-key-not-working/m-p/1024331#M11851.  I was never consulted (no one communicated with me), so while attempting to summarize my long post they mixed up/confused a few important terms towards the end and even introduced a few spelling mistakes    As an English teacher, I'm a bit of a perfectionist. So I'm sure they meant well but it's best to read through my original post for clear and correct info. ) [As of today's date, 7-6-14, the KnowledgeBase article still needs to be edited carefully. Hopefully this will not be an issue in the future and forum visitors will be able to have the correct info. as I originally intended].
Make sure you download and burn to DVD the correct Windows 7 "ISO" file to match your product key (i.e. Windows 7 Professional, Home Premium, etc.):
Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO Image Downloads (directly from Microsoft website): http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/
This link is very useful as these ISO files are provided/ approved by Microsoft itself and contain SP1 (service pack 1) already incorporated, which will save you a lot of time. As I always say, get 'em while they're hot. Who knows when Microsoft may decide to start bullying its millions of patrons again and pull these links. So I encourage everyone I meet to download a copy of these ISO files and burn them to disc. I personally plan on using Windows 7 on my machines for a while to come. And I have certainly given Microsoft enough money/ purchased enough of their products in my days as a student and now as an educator.
Many different language versions are available at the link above, whether English, Spanish, etc. (As I notice you're located in a very interesting part of the world "loved" by both England and Spain  )
Have a great day. (I do not work for Lenovo)

  • How can you download windows for mac

I found bunches of videos one which was really good by technobufallo but i still don't know how to do it

You can't download Windows, you have to buy a retail disk (not an install disk that came with a PC).
You can use either Boot Camp or a third-party solution such as Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, or VirtualBox to install and use the Windows partition. Boot Camp support/instructions here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
(Edited:) In Lion, Boot Camp only supports Windows 7. Older versions of Windows should work with the other solutions I mentioned.

    Hi margarette from sc,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of your question. If you are trying to set up iCloud on your Windows machine (including iCloud Drive), you may find the following article helpful (apologies if you have already seen it):

  • My mouse/trackpad are completely out of control. The cursor/arrow is flying all over the screen and closing/opening windows. What is the solution to this? Downloading windows for Mac?

So far I'm dissapointed with Mac O/S .....so many areas lack common sense, require unnessary extra clicks and is not as customizable as Windows. It's like Apple thinks you are a child and not entitled to choose for yourself so that they can control your info for you.
The mouse/trackpad problem is a major issue that Apple should be proactive in offering a solution for. If anyone has a solution to this I'd be greateful to hear it.
    Thanks,

Is this the first time you're using a Mac?
If so the learning curve is somewhat steep - but, if you put in the time and use this knowledge base whenever you run into issues you'll be up to speed soon enough.
With regards to the trackpad/mouse, you can adjust the sensitivity by:
    1. Click the Apple Logo on the top left hard corner of your screen
    2. Click System Preferences
    3. Click Trackpad
Adjust the tracking speed to your specifications.
Also familiarise yourself with the gestures (activate the ones you can remember)
To go back to the menue by clicking Show All
    4. Click Mouse
Adjust your mouse settings to your specification.
    And why use mac?
    It just works...

  • How to download Windows?

I'm experiencing some extreme frustration trying to figure out the process of purchasing and downloading Windows for the purpose of installing on my son's new MacBook Pro via Boot Camp.
Can someone clarify for me exactly what the procedure is for downloading an ISO file that can be used with Boot Camp? I was told by Microsoft earlier that I had to run some stupid installer on a Windows machine in order to get the ISO, and that there was no other way to get the ISO... which seems wrong, as how would a Mac user with no Windows systems install Windows via Boot Camp, onto a Mac with no optical drive, if that's true?
I currently have something downloading on my wife's Windows PC, but I have exactly zero confidence that what I'm going to end up with at the end of the hours-long download time will actually be what I need, and am fearful that it's going to install the horrid Windows 8 over my wife's Windows 7 system.
Any guidance? If so, thanks in advance!

    1. Download GPT Fdisk (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gptfdisk/) and create the Hybrid MBR.
We tried that previously, following instructions I found on another site. It made no difference.
    2. Remove the partition created by BCA (using BCA), which will restore the disk to a GPT-only disk.  Run Disk Utility and create a partition with Free Space format.
We did that, and Boot Camp Assistant wanted to split the remaining 500 GB partition, effectively ignoring the free space. Further, we were unable to remove the free space, and ended up having to repartition the entire hard drive and restore the system from a Time Machine backup. After doing that, I tried to repeat the process of setting things up in Boot Camp Assistant, and just ended up in the same place... a partition was created, but the Windows install failed again.
I guess we'll have to make an appointment at the Genius Bar and get them to help with this. The fact that a very experienced Mac OS X like me will have to resort to going to the Genius Bar over something like this is a tremendous failure on Apple's part, IMHO! I mean, if BCA can't create the partition on a brand-new, barely touched machine, what freakin' use is it?

  • Trying to locate "downloads" window after closing window.

While I am on my online banking websites I often download a statement. Doing so automatically saves a copy of the downloaded item in a window that pops up labeled downloads along with saving a copy on the desk top. Since I do not like me desk top cluttered I often delete the short cut on the desk top right after viewing the statement. If I close the actual window labeled downloads with out clearing the downloaded items when I download another statement at a later date the previous downloads are still there. What I what to know is how I can access the downloads window for viewing a previous downloaded statement once the window is closed with out downloading another statement to gain access to that window.

You have things just slightly backwards: the version that pops up on your desktop is the actual file, not a shortcut, as you called it. So when you delete it afterward, you're deleting the only copy you downloaded.
The downloads window to which you referred is actually a part of your web browser, not the Finder. You can reopen that at any time by hitting either:
    If using Safari, hit: Command-Option-L
    If using Firefox, hit: Command-J
But again, once you've deleted the original file, this browser window serves only as an historical list of everything you've downloaded. It won't help you get to the original file, since you deleted it.
The solution is simple: change your browser's default downloads location from the desktop to a dedicated downloads folder, one from which you won't feel compelled to delete items. You do that by either:
If using Safari, go to "Safari -> Preferences -> General" and change the pop-up called "Save downloaded files to"
If using Firefox, go to "Firefox -> Preferences -> Main" and click the "Choose" button to the right of "Save files to"
The other option is to upgrade to Leopard, which handles downloads a bit differently than Mac OS X 10.4.x.
    Hope this helps!

Buy Windows 7 retail disk and use the 64bit disk to install into Parallels. This verison of Windows is well supported an there is lots of software your school is likely using it on.
Windows 8 is still in beta stage, not ready for everyone to use yet. However you CAN download the devlopers preview issue  also to play around with.
    http://osxdaily.com/2012/03/03/try-windows-8-consumer-preview-virtualbox/
WIth Virtual Machine software you can install many other operating systems and use any (or many depening how much RAM and storage space you have) at the same time.
So you can use Windows 7 and your schools software, and then quit that and play around with Windows 8, or Linux verisons too.
Windows in BootCamp or Virtual Machine?

Your issue is completely different. You are running Snow Leopard. There is no download for Windows Support software for Snow Leopard, hence the error you see. Snow Leopard Windows Support software is on the Snow Leopard installation disk.
You need the Snow Leopard installation disk or a replacement for it.

Either you don't have a SIM in the phone, which is required for activation, or you have a phone that was probably hacked to unlock it.
    A) Do you have a SIM in the phone?
    B) Where EXACTLY did you get the phone?
