Downloadable file types from hyperlinks

Hi,
I have successfully downloaded onto a Windows PC running XP, .pdf files created in iWeb on a mac running OS 10.4.11. Encouraged by this I have on my web site other commercial software files that I had hoped could be downloaded by customers onto their PC's. Unfortunately when viewing the web site on a PC I get what looks like gobbledy gook and when I select " save as " the options are for html, plus a few other but the correct file name and type is not listed.
I have saved the file as html format and then renamed the downloaded file back to the original. I am unsure if this file which I have downloaded is corrupted. Is there a recommended procedure for binary file downloads on a PC? Thank you in advance for any assistance offered.

Of course you will be able to download pdf files that are created on a Mac. Adobe is Adobe is Adobe - it is cross platform software and you can get Adobe reader for both Mac and PC so there will be no difference whatsoever.
As far as I know, I have only ever tried downloading Word or pdf documents. You could try compressing or zipping to see what happens, but ultimately you know, this forum is about iWeb and Mac and has nothing to do with PC's.

Why does my windows phone say it is unable to download file type when trying to install firefox browser?

I have no restrictions on phone. I tried to be safe and use security features like... Safe search,cookie block and such. However it keeps saying unable to download file type when I try and install any of the up to date browsers. This is interesting to say the least. there have been technical and legal hurdles in the app store originally which discouraged mozilla from starting any developments in this direction. i don't know about the current situation, but since mozilla is now focusing its energies on creating firefox os as open source web-based platform, i doubt that you will see firefox on your windows phone device in the foreseeable future...

File type from file name

Is there any standard method to get a file type from file name?
File name can be C:\test.doc or C:\test(test is file) i.e. with or without file type extension.

You can use the Function module PC_SPLIT_COMPLETE_FILENAME
export paramter extension will tell the type of file

Hi,
Actually what I am trying to achieve is the two things.
1) By using only the user's name, need to upload/download from/to the document library of SharePoint online site using the CSOM. (i.e., achieving Single Sign On / Windows Authentication)
2) I need to achieve the above only by passing the document URL; not by hardcording/ configuring the document library name in the windows application.
Can anyone pls help on this now?

Getting the file type from a placed file

Hi
I am trying to get the file type from items placed on a page. I know the types available has one of the three interfaces "IImageAttributes", "IEPSAttributes" or "IPDFAttributes", but how can i test whether the placed image is a TIF, JPG ... Of course i could test on the suffix or the file type (mac), but that isnt "secure" enough, since InDesign can place files with no filetype or extension, if they are in an importable format.
What I want in short, is to read the filetype shown in the Info palette, any one knows how to do this?

Thanks, I did take a look in these interfaces, but that didnt solve the problem for eps, pdf and other none raster types.
Instead I found the:
IDataLink->GetNameInfo()
Which gives me the string from the Info palette.

I am not sure what you mean, but once you make a project. Then go to the share menu and you can export the project to iDVD, itunes, mobileme, quicktime.
Share export quicktime movie will allow you to export to a variety of codecs. What specific export are you looking to share the movie in? What is the final source that the movie will be displayed?

I uploaded and edited my RAW image, clicked 'Save As', and changed the file type from .psed to .jpg.

I edited my raw image in Photoshop CS6, selected 'Save As', and changed the file type from .psed to .jpg. I also selected 12 and large file when the window popped up, concluding my 'saving as'. My computer does not recognize the file type and won't open them. Can someone help me? Thanks!

When naming files, stick to the letters of the ENGLISH alphabet, numbers and underscores. Do not use illegal characters like apostrophes, commas, asterisks, ampersands, hatch or pound signs, diacritics or accented characters, slashes, etc.
While the period (dot) is not an illegal character per se, your file names should have only one period and that should always be followed by the file type extension.

Problem downloading file's from a .php cart

Having problems downloading files form a php based cart software, but Firefox works fine and also on a PC they download on Explorer fine, is there a setting on Safari to fix this or is there another way around this.

Usually, this type of content doesn't work on Safari due to a PC mentality when coding the site. Here, Firefox etc. are better able to read this code.
Also, a good reason for having alternate browsers from which to choose.

Ability to block file types from websites

Hi All,
Seeming the knowledge base wasnt much help and I cant get through to support.
I was hoping someone here could help.
I am trying to create a policy which will block downloads only for webmail sites. I do not want any users able to download any attachments from webmail sites.
Any help would be appreciated.

How to convert flat file type from DAT to ASC

hello all
i am trying to download a flat file and trying to upload it in another program.
for this i am using gui_upload and gui_download function modules.
if i download the file as ASC and upload with ASC there is no problem.
if i download the file as DAT and upload with DAT its giving an exception invalid file type
if i download the file as DAT and upload with ASC its giving an exception bad data format.
but in real senario my customer is sending a flat file with DAT type and i am unable to upload it.
how to solve this problem?

How to change file type from .zip to .dock

I would like to know how to change the saved file type (.zip) to other file types such as (.txt), (.doc), (.dock) or (.pdf).

It's more complicated than just changing the name of the file to have a different extension. What you have to do is to convert a file from one format to another. To do that you have to use an application that knows how to open the original type and how to write the format of the new type. The application to use for a given combination depends on the combination. For example, the Preview applications knows how to read a JPG file and write the contents to a PDF file.
A ".zip" file is a somewhat different case. A ".zip" file is an "archive" that (generally) contains other files compressed within it. If you double-click on a ZIP file, it should expand into the enclosed files.
If you give specific examples of what you want to convert, people should be able to explain what to do.
By the way, I'm not familiar with a file of type ".dock". What is that?

Block File Types from KM Repository

Is there any way to block particular file types (i.e. .avi, .wmv) from KM repositories? We do not want users to be able to load particular types of files to our SAP Portal environment.

Open Config Tool > cluster-data > Instance > Server > General Tab and add Java parameter '-Dcom.sap.km.forbiddenext=exe,avi' (modify exact values per your needs). Save and repeat the same procedure for all cluster instances. Restart cluster.

Use WEBUTIL for upload and download file to/from Database

ITunes 8 moved importing/file type from Advanced to General tab

In iTunes 8, converting from one file format to another is now handled under iTunes Preferences > General > Import Settings button, rather than under the Advanced tab as in previous versions. All the file types are still there.

The problem here are NOT the WARNINGs but the ERRORs. So basically focus on the ERRORs...
For the ERRORs the solution is in Metalink Note:289606.1 - Pre-Check Fails - Oracle Report Objects Show Red Crosses When Merging a Transport Set within the Dependency Manager.
As for the WARNING, you should also migrate the users and the groups via the OID scripts - ldapsearch & ldapadd.
